</p><p>When we heard about <a href="http://www.osxnasozi.com/shop.html" target="_blank">Origins Style by Nasozi</a> we were ecstatic! This unique company creates handcrafted home decor items using African prints and fabrics with a hint of Brooklyn style. We were delighted to interview the founder and artist herself and are pleased to share the interview with you!</p>
<p><strong><em><span style="color: #ff6600;">See below for our exclusive interview with <a href="http://www.osxnasozi.com/who.html" target="_blank">Nasozi</a>, founder and artist behind Origins Style by Nasozi (side note: Nasozi is a Ugandan name which means &#8220;something to look up to in praise for.&#8221; How beautiful is that!?):</span></em></strong><span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span></p>
<p><b>First off, we LOVE your Africa-inspired products. You do an amazing  job of mixing traditional African prints, fabrics, and colors with fun Brooklyn style. Tell us a little bit about your brand story and what makes your products unique.</b></p>
<p>I started Origins Style a few months after a work trip to Dakar, Senegal in 2011 (I was working in human rights/social justice at the time). I returned home with a bounty of wax print fabrics, but with little idea of what I was going to do with them next. Eventually my art history and architecture background reemerged to the fore, and I decided to focus on interior decor goods.</p>
<p>Pillows were my first items, and my company has since grown to include all manner of <a href="http://www.osxnasozi.com/gallery.html" target="_blank">home decor accents</a>, and some of the best new items result from customer feedback. By that time I had been living in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn for six years, and noticed a style and aesthetic here that I had not seen anywhere else. There is a constant deluge of inspiration that comes from living and being immersed in such a culturally diverse neighborhood, so the ideas are constantly coming!</p>
<p><b>What can the handmade interior design products made by Origins Style by Nasozi (OSxN) bring to a home that other more mainstream, traditional interior design and home décor companies can’t?</b></p>
<p>My collection offers items that are often one-of-a-kind, and always handmade by me. My products are not made anonymously in a far-off oppressive factory, but rather in a real home by a real working mother.</p>
<p>I think a lot of people can relate to some aspect of my story, as well. I was raised in America, educated here, and grew up in a middle class family, in the suburbs of Washington, DC. I happen to be the child of immigrants, which many Americans can also identify with. This status also grants me the personal connection and fascination I have with African wax print fabrics. Growing up, they always reminded me of my family in Uganda whenever I would see them, and I continue to feel connected to Uganda and other parts of Africa today as I work with them. The designs and stories behind each of the designs can transport the OSxN customer to a faraway place without ever having to get on a plane. You can go on safari right from your home!</p>
<p><img class="aligncenter wp-image-8717" alt="african decor" src="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/PA071590-1024x768.jpg" width="614" height="461" /></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/OSxN-Bedroom.jpg"><img class="aligncenter wp-image-8719" alt="OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA" src="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/OSxN-Bedroom-1024x724.jpg" width="614" height="434" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/picture-frame.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-8721" alt="picture frame" src="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/picture-frame.jpg" width="570" height="426" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/pillow.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-large wp-image-8722" alt="pillow" src="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/pillow.jpg" width="570" height="764" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/stool.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-large wp-image-8723" alt="stool" src="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/stool.jpg" width="596" height="800" /></a></p>
<p><b>We support Fair Trade businesses and initiatives and were delighted to hear that OSxN carries <a href="http://www.osxnasozi.com/who.html" target="_blank">Ugandan Fair Trade goods</a>. Tell us a little bit about what that means and what makes these products unique?</b></p>
<p>I am half Ugandan, and this accounts for a significant part of why I worked in human rights/international development for the better part of a decade. This heritage and work experience factors heavily into my business model, and since most of the items in my collection are handmade by me, carrying Uganda Fair Trade products is one of the direct ways in which I can engage the country which is the inspiration behind my company. The Fair Trade items are either made in Uganda (the aprons), or in close proximity to my family&#8217;s village in Uganda (sisal baskets). I am also in the process of seeking a community organization or local school to which a certain portion of my profits would go to.</p>
<p><b>What are your top 3 most popular products or prints?</b></p>
<p>The most popular prints are always changing because given the nature of the <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/osxn" target="_blank">African wax print fabric</a> supply and manufacturing my stock is regularly changing. But GOMIS Sparrow is ALWAYS a hit, and I&#8217;ve had it in several different colors throughout the years. Bull&#8217;s EYE is another one that I&#8217;ve had in several colors and remains popular (attached, but no longer in store), and GIZA is currently my favorite.</p>
<p><b>Where can individuals go to purchase your gorgeous products?</b></p>
<p>Customers all over the world can purchase OSxN products directly from my <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/osxn" target="_blank">Etsy shop</a>. Requests for custom goods can also be made through here. New Yorkers can also find me at a variety of craft and cultural festivals in and around NYC, usually during the spring and summer months. For example, this May, I am participating in the Fulton Flea during the DanceAfrica Festival at Brooklyn Academy of Music, and also the Hester Street Fair, in NYC&#8217;s Lower East Side neighborhood. In June I&#8217;ll be at the Renegade Craft Fair in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.</p>
<p><b>Anything else you’d like to add?</b></p>
<p>Thank you for indulging in my safari and I hope you enjoyed <img src='http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<h2 style="text-align: center;"><span style="color: #ff6600;"><strong>All of the pictures above are owned by Origins Style by Nasozi and all products can be <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/osxn" target="_blank">purchased here</a>.</strong></span></h2>

Below, Michelle discusses her experiences at each of these properties and shares some of her photographs!</span></em></strong></p>
<p><b>Accommodation 1: O on Kloof</b> – On my recent <a href="http://www.hillsofafrica.com/South_Africa/Africa_Safaris_South_Africa.html" target="_blank">trip to South Africa</a>, I had the pleasure of staying at O on Kloof.  This beautiful, boutique hotel was one of my favorites. With African vibe music playing in the lounge areas, I felt part of the bustling <a href="http://www.hillsofafrica.com/South_Africa/Cape_Town_South_Africa.html" target="_blank">Cape Town</a> city life without ever having to leave. And when I wanted peace and quiet, I would retreat to my beautifully appointed suite where I’d enjoy a bubble bath and some strawberries!</p>
<p>During the evenings, I would spend my time in the lounge area, which opened up to a lovely balcony where I sat with a glass of wine watching the lounge curtains blow in the wind. Olaf, the owner, popped by frequently and we shared many wonderful stories and good laughs. The staff was extremely personable and I felt as though they had been my lifetime friends!</p>
<p>I couldn’t wait to go home and share this location with our clients and potential clients as I know they would absolutely love the atmosphere. It was the perfect balance of city life and relaxation.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/okloof.jpg"><img class="aligncenter wp-image-8686" title="trip to South Africa" alt="trip to South Africa" src="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/okloof.jpg" width="411" height="614" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/okloof2.jpg"><img class="aligncenter wp-image-8687" title="trip to South Africa" alt="trip to South Africa" src="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/okloof2.jpg" width="614" height="410" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/okloof3.jpg"><img class="aligncenter wp-image-8688" title="trip to South Africa" alt="trip to South Africa" src="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/okloof3.jpg" width="614" height="410" /></a></p>

<p><b>Accommodation 2: Four Rosmead</b> – During my visit to <a href="http://fourrosmead.com/" target="_blank">Four Rosmead </a>I just fell in love with David, the owner, and staff.  David’s unassuming and relaxing personality adds a sense of charm to this comfortable boutique hotel. There was never any doubt that every need I had would be taken care of in a personal and immediate manor. I especially loved the ever-changing artwork (changing because guests insisted on purchasing certain pieces) inside the hotel, which gave me a touch and feel of the local community. This gem of a hotel is within walking distance of Kloof Street and its many fantastic restaurants, boutiques, and shops.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/fourrosmead1.jpg"><img class="aligncenter wp-image-8692" title="Cape Town accommodations" alt="Cape Town accommodations" src="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/fourrosmead1.jpg" width="614" height="410" /></a></p>

<p><b>Accommodation 3: Kensington Place</b> – Upon arrival to <a href="http://www.kensingtonplace.co.za/" target="_blank">Kensington Place</a> I was warmly greeted by staff and escorted to my beautiful suite. Since I arrived late at night my first task was a hot bath with a nice bottle of wine. At this point, I had been traveling for several days and needed some time to relax. I was also surprised to find a complimentary laptop in my room, which I used to email my family and friends and connect with our clients on Facebook! I was also able to upload all of my pictures and share them with my friends and family back home.</p>
<p>At breakfast the next morning I met a lovely honeymoon couple and we shared some wonderful travel stories.  We enjoyed breakfast beneath a white canopy of curtains, which provided a relaxing and serene place to relax and enjoy the weather. I felt as though I were in a different world—one that was secluded in a sanctuary of soft sounds and beautiful sites. I also met the owner of Kensington, Austin, who made me feel completely welcome and at home during my stay!</p>

</p><p>South Africa’s spectacular <a href="http://www.hillsofafrica.com/South_Africa/Cape_Winelands_South_Africa.html" target="_blank">Cape Winelands </a>countryside is not just breathtaking in its beauty; it’s also one of the top wine-producing regions in the world (the eighth largest to be exact). Wine was first produced in this area in the mid 1600s, thanks to the Dutch East India Company, but didn’t gain popularity until recently. And because <a href="http://www.hillsofafrica.com/South_Africa/Africa_Safaris_South_Africa.html" target="_blank">South African</a> wines are considered fairly new to the world of wine (although they’ve have been being produced for centuries), they have not yet developed a strong identity.</p>
<p>The most recent setback for South African wine was the Apartheid legislature put forth in South Africa for most of the 20th century. But in the 1990s, when Apartheid legislation was abolished and Nelson Mandela became president of a democratic South Africa, South African wine began becoming internationally recognized once again. In fact, Nelson Mandela toasted his Nobel Peace Prize achievement in 1993 with a glass of Cape Winelands wine!</p>
<p>The most popularly used grape in South Africa is the Chenin Blanc grape, followed (in no particular order) by Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot, Shiraz, Colombard, and Chardonnay. Both the Chenin Blanc and Colombard grapes are also frequently used in brandy production (another popular alcoholic beverage produced in <a href="http://www.hillsofafrica.com/mailer/Contact_Us_HOA.php" target="_blank">South Africa</a>).</p>
<p>Some of our favorite wine regions within South Africa include Stellenbosch, Paarl, Franschhoek, Darling, and Cederberg. All of these areas can be visited today on a trip to South Africa. Visitors can enjoy <a href="http://www.hillsofafrica.com/private_guided_safaris.html" target="_blank">private wine tasting tours</a> on century-old estates, create their OWN wines, go on a horseback wine tasting safari, embark on a bicycle ride along the countryside, or enjoy a food and wine pairing picnic among the vines.</p>
<p><em><strong>Below are some of our favorite Cape Winelands Accommodations:</strong></em></p>
<ul>
<li>La Residence</li>
<li>Le Quartier Francais</li>
<li>Babylonstoren</li>
<li>Cellars-Hohenort Hotel</li>
<li>Devon Valley Golf Estate</li>
</ul>
<p><strong><em>Below are some of our favorite Cape Winelands Wineries &amp; Vineyards:</em></strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Glenwood, located in Franschhoek Valley (Situated off the beaten path, Glenwood offers its visitors and an eclectic tasting room – try their Chardonnay!)</li>
<li>Boekenhoutskloof, located in Franschhoek Valley (arguably the best wine in the area!)</li>
<li>Joostenberg Winery, located in the Paarl region (this super quaint winery is rustic and family-owned)</li>
<li>Fairview, located in the Paarl region (a larger wine estate, but EXCELLENT wines and a must visit for wine lovers!)</li>
</ul>

</p><p><strong><em><span style="color: #ff6600;">Amy Green, Hills of Africa Travel&#8217;s Client Services Director has just returned home from an unforgettable <a href="http://www.hillsofafrica.com/Tanzania/Africa_Safaris_Tanzania.html" target="_blank">trip to Tanzania</a>! Here&#8217;s a look at all of the beauty, relaxation, and adventures she experienced:</span></em></strong></p>
<p>I’ve just recently returned from the most amazing <a href="http://www.hillsofafrica.com/Tanzania/Africa_Safaris_Tanzania.html" target="_blank">trip to Tanzania</a>, in East Africa. Three years ago, if you’d asked if I wanted to go to Africa for vacation I’d have said you were crazy&#8211;Africa? Dark, dirty, dusty Africa? Fast forward to this past January, when an invitation to attend my first FAM came across my desk…my heart lept with excitement and anticipation…please, please, please Sandy, say I can go…to beautiful, soulful, cleansing Africa.</p>
<p>Even after two years working for <a href="http://www.hillsofafrica.com/about_us.html" target="_blank">Hills of Africa Travel</a>, living vicariously through our clients and their fabulous journeys, I had no idea what to expect. I had no idea how thoroughly my life would be touched and changed. I’d heard how <span style="color: #ff6600;">Africa gets into your soul and won’t let go</span>, but didn’t truly understand until I experienced it myself.</p>
<p>Today I want to tell you about my favorite camp on this trip: <span style="color: #ff6600;"><a href="http://www.nomad-tanzania.com/north/lamai-serengeti" target="_blank">Nomad’s Lamai </a>in the northern Serengeti</span>. This stunning property sits atop a kopje (a small rocky hill), and is perfectly blended into its surroundings, which makes it nearly impossible to spot when flying and driving in.</p>
<p>As we arrived we were greeted by camp staff with damp rags to wipe off the dust then shown to the main lounge area with its stunning views from the spacious open rooms and decks. The view looks north towards <a href="http://www.hillsofafrica.com/Kenya/Africa_Safaris_Kenya.html" target="_blank">Kenya</a> and is breathtaking. I loved sitting and watching the rains roll in from the north, smelling the scent of life giving water in the air.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/2.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-8637" alt="tanzania safari vacation" src="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/2.jpg" width="523" height="347" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><em><span style="color: #ff6600;">Main lounge bar</span></em></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/3.jpg"><img class="size-full wp-image-8636 aligncenter" alt="tanzania safari vacation" src="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/3.jpg" width="532" height="353" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><em><span style="color: #ff6600;">Main lounge area looking out to Serengeti &amp; in from the deck</span></em></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/5.jpg"><img class="size-full wp-image-8634 aligncenter" alt="trip to Tanzania" src="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/5.jpg" width="536" height="355" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><em><span style="color: #ff6600;">Rains moving in from the north</span></em></p>
<p>We gathered together and were ‘briefed’ on the camp by the <span style="color: #ff6600;">delightful camp managers</span> who explained all the do’s and don’ts and plans for our stay. All of the staff were extremely gracious and kind, always ready with a smile and helping hand. What a treat to be looked after in such a way.</p>
<p>Since the camp is on a kopje, getting to our rooms involved some up and down the hills. The paths are well maintained with stairs in some areas to help. For me the climbing was worth it! My room was on the upper end of camp, which provided spectacular views. I couldn’t see either of the neighboring rooms, so the feeling was very private. Since Lamai is a permanent camp, the rooms are built with a little more structure to them than a tented camp. Three-fourths of the room had stucco walls, with real windows and doors. The front of the room was screened to allow the views, smells, and sounds of the <a href="http://www.hillsofafrica.com/Tanzania/The_Serengeti_Tanzania.html" target="_blank">Serengeti </a>to flow in. The room was spacious with a <span style="color: #ff6600;">very romantic feeling</span>. The bathroom was enormous with tons of storage, hot and cold running water, a stand up shower, flush toilets and dual sinks at the vanity. The windows of the bathroom were screened and faced out to the fabulous view, but since the rooms are so well situated the bathroom was totally out of view from other rooms.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><em><span style="color: #ff6600;"><a href="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/6.jpg"><img class="size-full wp-image-8643 aligncenter" title="trip to Tanzania" alt="trip to Tanzania" src="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/6.jpg" width="526" height="349" /></a></span></em></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><em><span style="color: #ff6600;">View from my deck</span></em></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><span style="color: #ff6600;"><em>My room &amp; bathroom (below)</em></span></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/9.jpg"><img class="size-full wp-image-8640 aligncenter" title="Lamai Camp" alt="Lamai Camp" src="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/9.jpg" width="306" height="462" /></a></p>

<p style="text-align: center;"><em><span style="color: #ff6600;"><a href="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/8.jpg"><img class="size-full wp-image-8641 aligncenter" title="Lamai Camp" alt="Lamai Camp" src="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/8.jpg" width="541" height="359" /></a></span></em></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><em><span style="color: #ff6600;"><a href="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/10.jpg"><img class="size-full wp-image-8639 aligncenter" title="Lamai Camp" alt="Lamai Camp" src="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/10.jpg" width="532" height="352" /></a></span></em></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><em><span style="color: #ff6600;"><a href="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/11.jpg"><img class="size-full wp-image-8647 aligncenter" title="Lamai Camp" alt="Lamai Camp" src="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/11.jpg" width="317" height="479" /></a> </span></em></p>
<p>The entire camp is very tastefully decorated in soothing neutral colors with small splashes of color for interest. The public areas are spacious and offer several different sitting areas to gather in large groups or in smaller private areas. There is a <span style="color: #ff6600;">lovely pool with lounge chairs</span>, a bathhouse and a shaded spot to escape the heat.</p>
<p>One of my favorite spaces was the dining room. All of our meals were delicious, and the view was amazing at all times of the day. But the treat here was the walls. The stucco walls had small bits of mirror embedded in them, which reflected light and colors during the day, but became like a <span style="color: #ff6600;">wall of magical stars</span> at night…simply lovely.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><span style="color: #ff6600;"><em>Dining room fireplace, table &amp; view and buffet lunch (below)</em></span></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/13.jpg"><img class="size-large wp-image-8645 aligncenter" title="Lamai Camp" alt="Lamai Camp" src="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/13.jpg" width="526" height="348" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/12.jpg"><img class="size-large wp-image-8646 aligncenter" title="Lamai Camp" alt="Lamai Camp" src="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/12.jpg" width="538" height="356" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/14.jpg"><img class="size-full wp-image-8644 aligncenter" title="Lamai Camp" alt="Lamai Camp" src="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/14.jpg" width="475" height="315" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/16.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-8649" title="Lamai Camp" alt="Lamai Camp" src="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/16.jpg" width="297" height="448" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/15.jpg"><img class="size-large wp-image-8650 aligncenter" title="Lamai Camp" alt="Lamai Camp" src="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/15.jpg" width="330" height="499" /></a></p>
<p>There are little special touches everywhere. In the ‘powder room’ near the main lounge, wine bottles were set into the stucco walls to provide tiny windows of interesting glass. What a clever idea!</p>
<p>Our first evening in camp, we received  a special sundowner treat…a hike to the top of the kopje! What a view and so proud of our group that everyone made it to the top. The <a href="http://www.nomad-tanzania.com/north/lamai-serengeti" target="_blank">Lamai</a> staff took special care of one gal who was a bit afraid of the climb. His patience, kindness, and helpfulness helped her feel great about her accomplishment!</p>
<p><a href="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/21.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-8651" alt="21" src="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/21.jpg" width="532" height="352" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><em><span style="color: #ff6600;">Me on top of the world! We climbed all the way up there…</span></em></p>
<p>Mornings greeted us with coffee/tea service delivered to our room to enjoy as we prepared for the day. The best part is that delivery is made without camp staff having to enter the room. There is a pass though window for delivery of this treat, which I think is a very clever idea.</p>
<p>After the delightful coffee service, we set off very early for a surprise bush breakfast! What a delight to drive along and suddenly come upon the perfect spot to rest under beautiful acacia trees and enjoy the scenery with a delicious breakfast spread…egg and bacon sandwiches, sausages, yogurts, fresh fruit, cereals and granola, tea, coffee, and juice! As we set up chairs and settled in to enjoy the surroundings we noticed two groups of visitors having their own breakfast and wondering what in the world we were up to&#8230;it was a family of elephant and some very curious giraffe. I’m not sure who enjoyed watching who more.</p>
<p>I’ve talked so much about camp…I’ve hardly mentioned the animals! I’ll save those stories for next time, but how about a few teasers…tons of elephant, giraffe, gazelle, hyena, hippo, wildebeest, zebra and topi…gorgeous birds…sneaking across into <a href="http://www.hillsofafrica.com/Kenya/Africa_Safaris_Kenya.html" target="_blank">Kenya</a> for a quick visit…watching and hoping to see four young cheetah try their hand at a kill…all amazing! My heart truly was filled to bursting with love for this land, its people, its animals, and its soul. I left knowing I will return one day, and am even more in love with my job getting to help each of our highly valued clients experience the magic of Africa!</p>

</p><p><b><i>Does your mother love to travel, cook, or simply loves <a href="http://www.hillsofafrica.com" target="_blank">Africa</a>? If so, take a look at my list of the <span style="color: #ff6600;">top 10 Mother’s Day gift ideas</span> related to Africa (and some travel in general):</i></b></p>
<p><b>1.<i> a Taste of Africa</i> cookbook:</b> In an effort to share the flavors of Africa with the world, I recently created an African recipe book called <i><a href="http://atasteofafrica.hillsofafrica.com/" target="_blank"><strong><span style="color: #ff6600;">a Taste of Africa</span></strong></a>. </i>The book is comprised of more than <strong><span style="color: #ff6600;">60 authentic African recipes</span></strong> from some of my favorite luxury accommodations and properties in southern and eastern Africa. Some of the recipes you’ll find in the book include:</p>
<ul>
<li>Stuffed mushrooms with potato rosti</li>
<li>Homemade ice cream</li>
<li>Lamb and butternut squash tagine</li>
<li>Chicken curry</li>
<li>Puree of butternut squash with mushroom tortellini</li>
<li>Duck salad</li>
<li>Prawn soup</li>
<li>Quinoa pilaf</li>
</ul>
<p>. . .  and MANY more. You’ll find vegetarian dishes, meat dishes, seafood dishes, desserts, appetizers, and snacks.</p>
<p><b>2. A luxury travel bag: </b>From weekend getaways to two-week-long hiatuses, a great travel bag can be used for any occasion. Some of our favorite brands include Pottery Barn and L.L. Bean. They make fantastic duffle bags that are attractive and durable.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/img31b.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-8618" alt="img31b" src="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/img31b.jpg" width="485" height="436" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><em><span style="color: #ff6600;">Image above taken from the <a href="http://www.potterybarn.com/products/recycled-canvas-luggage-weekender-bag/?pkey=cluggage-travel&amp;" target="_blank">Pottery Barn website</a></span></em></p>
<p><b>3. A trip to Africa (or even round trip ticket!): </b>Ok, this is a BIG one; but who else deserves such an amazing gift than your mother!? Even if you don’t have the funds to buy her entire <a href="http://www.hillsofafrica.com" target="_blank">trip to Africa</a>, at least grab the round trip tickets aboard <a href="http://www.flysaa.com/us/en/" target="_blank">South African Airways</a>! They’re even doing a special now with <a href="https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=566411980048282&amp;set=a.131772246845593.15595.112173338805484&amp;type=1&amp;theater" target="_blank">round trips as low as $999</a> . . . Just saying . . .</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/african-safari-tours.jpg"><img class="aligncenter wp-image-8360" alt="african safari tours" src="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/african-safari-tours.jpg" width="576" height="384" /></a></p>
<p><b>4. Adopt a penguin for her: </b>If your mom is a wildlife lover, then I absolutely suggest adopting a <strong><span style="color: #ff6600;">South African penguin</span></strong> for her. Visit the SANCCOB website for more details: <a href="http://www.sanccob.co.za/">http://www.sanccob.co.za/</a></p>
<p><a href="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/penguins.png"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-7646" alt="penguins" src="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/penguins.png" width="621" height="416" /></a></p>
<p><b>5. Africa-made products from Skinny Laminx: </b>We are in LOVE with Skinny Laminx (after being introduced to them by The Pretty Blog). Skinny Laminx not only utilizes some beautiful <strong><span style="color: #ff6600;">Africa-inspired prints</span></strong>, but they also create some high-quality products, including bags, pillows, towels, napkins, and more. They even sell fabric. Although they are based in South Africa, you can purchase their products on Etsy! Visit them on Etsy here: <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/skinnylaminx">http://www.etsy.com/shop/skinnylaminx</a></p>
<p><a href="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/shoe-bag.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-8619" alt="shoe bag" src="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/shoe-bag.jpg" width="570" height="560" /></a></p>

<p><b>6. A bottle of fine African wine: </b>South Africa is one of the leading producers of wine in the world—and it’s no wonder. Not only is the climate perfect for growing and harvesting grapes, but the winemakers in the wine-producing <a href="http://www.hillsofafrica.com/South_Africa/Africa_Safaris_South_Africa.html" target="_blank">South African </a>regions are BRILLIANT. You can even tour the Cape Winelands if you take a trip to South Africa.</p>
<p>Regular grocery stores, as well as specialty wine stores sell a variety of fantastic <strong><span style="color: #ff6600;">South African wines</span></strong>.</p>
<p><b>7. Throw her an Africa-inspired dinner party: </b>Create an unforgettable <strong><span style="color: #ff6600;">Africa-inspired dinner party</span></strong> for your mom with all of her friends. Here’s my little rundown on the items you need to host such a party:</p>
<ul>
<li>African music</li>
<li>South African wine (which can be purchased in most regular grocery stores)</li>
<li>A South Africa-inspired tablescape with bold African prints, animal prints, and African flowers</li>
<li>Authentic African recipes from the <a href="http://atasteofafrica.hillsofafrica.com/" target="_blank"><i>a Taste of Africa </i>cookbook</a> (which you can <a href="http://atasteofafrica.hillsofafrica.com/" target="_blank">purchase here</a>.)</li>
</ul>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/lamb.jpg"><img class="aligncenter wp-image-8620" alt="lamb" src="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/lamb-682x1024.jpg" width="409" height="614" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><em><span style="color: #ff6600;">Image above of Lamb &amp; Butternut Squash Tagine &#8211; a recipe from our </span></em><a href="http://atasteofafrica.hillsofafrica.com/" target="_blank"><span style="color: #ff6600;">a Taste of Africa</span></a><em><a href="http://atasteofafrica.hillsofafrica.com/" target="_blank"><span style="color: #ff6600;"> cookbook</span></a><br />
</em></p>
<p><b>8.</b> <b>A travel magazine subscription: </b>Help your mom dream of her next big vacation with a subscription to one of her favorite travel magazines. Some of the best ones include <strong><span style="color: #ff6600;"><i>Travel + Leisure</i>, <i>Conde Nast</i>, and </span></strong><i><strong><span style="color: #ff6600;">National Geographic Traveler</span></strong>.</i></p>
<p><b>9. A high-end camera or binoculars: </b>In my personal opinion, having a <strong><span style="color: #ff6600;">great camera or pair of binoculars</span> </strong>can make a huge difference in your travel experiences (and memories!). Visit our <a href="http://pinterest.com/pin/33495590950013290/" target="_blank">Safari Gear Pinterest Board</a> for recommendations on the best cameras and binoculars to purchase for an African safari vacation.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/binoculars.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-8622" alt="binoculars" src="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/binoculars.jpg" width="300" height="300" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><em><span style="color: #ff6600;">Image above taken from <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Canon-10x30-Stabilization-Binoculars-Batteries/dp/B00004THDC" target="_blank">Amazon.com</a></span></em></p>
<p><b>10. A Field-Notes kit: </b>Journaling travel experiences is a must. With a Field-Notes kit, your mom can jot down all of her favorite travel memories in one place and look back at them from time to time for a <strong><span style="color: #ff6600;">trip down memory lane</span></strong>.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/field-notes.jpg"><img class="aligncenter wp-image-8621" alt="field notes" src="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/field-notes.jpg" width="626" height="360" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><em><span style="color: #ff6600;">Image above taken from the <a href="http://fieldnotesbrand.com/shop/" target="_blank">Field Notes website</a></span></em></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://pinterest.com/"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-8501" alt="pinterestcalltoaction" src="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/pinterestcalltoaction.jpg" width="650" height="150" /></a></p>

</p><p>Our Group Trips Coordinator, Michelle, recently returned home from a <a href="http://www.hillsofafrica.com/mailer/Contact_Us_HOA.php" target="_blank">trip to South Africa</a> with high school students on an <a href="http://www.academicafrica.com/" target="_blank">Academic Africa</a> ambassador trip from Providence Day School.</p>
<p>During their exciting journeys through <a href="http://www.hillsofafrica.com/South_Africa/Africa_Safaris_South_Africa.html" target="_blank">South Africa</a>, they experienced something very unexpected . . . See below for the story from Michelle’s eyes:</p>
<p>Today we were on our way out to sightsee in<a href="http://www.hillsofafrica.com/South_Africa/Cape_Town_South_Africa.html" target="_blank"> Cape Town</a> but as we were leaving our hotel, Team House in Noordhoek Beach, we saw quite a bit of <strong><span style="color: #ff6600;">commotion on the beach</span></strong>. The waves had been quite high for the past couple of days and we assumed all of the commotion was due to an injured surfer.</p>
<p>As we headed down to the parking lot, we learned that<strong><span style="color: #ff6600;"> several pilot whales had beached themselves</span> </strong>when they had lost their navigator whale at sea.</p>
<p>Just to give you a little bit of background on pilot whales, <strong><span style="color: #ff6600;">these whales are extremely unique to other aquatic mammals.</span></strong> They have the ability to dive more than 3,200 feet and are super fast, reaching speeds of up to 29 feet per second! They have large, bulbous heads and reach up to 18 feet in length.</p>
<p>As we learned of the news about the <a href="https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10151837213357222.1073741825.51853502221&amp;type=3" target="_blank">stranded pilot whales</a>, the Providence Day School students became immediately concerned about the well-being of these creatures and the local authorities asked if they would be willing to <strong><span style="color: #ff6600;">help Sea Rescue</span></strong>. The students were absolutely thrilled and did not hesitate for a second to help the plight of these beached whales.</p>
<p>With the mission of saving these whales in mind, the dedicated students headed to the beach with buckets and a fantastic group and volunteer mentality.</p>
<p>We kept the whales upright as we bathed them with cool water from the ocean, <strong><span style="color: #ff6600;">running back and forth with our buckets</span></strong> to ensure the whales remained wet.  For the next 3 hours we covered the whales with towels and poured seawater over their bodies and didn’t think for a second to stop. Although we were tired we kept moving and only had the well being of these magnificent creatures in our minds.</p>
<p><em>See below for some pictures from the day:</em></p>

<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/IMG_1016_KDK.jpg"><img class="aligncenter wp-image-8607" alt="IMG_1016_KDK" src="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/IMG_1016_KDK.jpg" width="691" height="461" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/IMG_1020_KDK.jpg"><img class="aligncenter wp-image-8608" alt="IMG_1020_KDK" src="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/IMG_1020_KDK.jpg" width="691" height="461" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/IMG_5417_KDK.jpg"><img class="aligncenter wp-image-8609" alt="IMG_5417_KDK" src="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/IMG_5417_KDK.jpg" width="691" height="461" /></a></p>
<p>It was humbling to see these large creatures struggling to breath and so helpless. The students didn’t care that they were giving up a day of fun and sightseeing in <a href="http://www.hillsofafrica.com/South_Africa/Africa_Safaris_South_Africa.html" target="_blank">Cape Town</a>—they much preferred to lend their support and assistance to the pilot whales that were in such desperate need of rehabilitation. I immediately knew this day was a day these students would never forget and an experience we could never replicate. I know that these students were deeply affected by this experience in a positive way, and hopefully, the experience encouraged them to <span style="color: #ff6600;"><strong>bring awareness to wildlife and conservation</strong></span> for the rest of their lives.</p>

</p><p>In the famous words of Nelson Mandela . . .</p>
<h2 style="text-align: center;"><span style="color: #ff6600;"><strong><em>“To be free is not merely to cast off one’s chains but to live in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others.” – Nelson Mandela, June 1999</em></strong></span></h2>
<p>For nearly 20 years now, <a href="http://www.hillsofafrica.com/South_Africa/Africa_Safaris_South_Africa.html" target="_blank">South Africa </a>has remained Apartheid-free, but the scars of the horrible political legislature and social segregation behind Apartheid is still remembered today at the Johannesburg Apartheid Museum.</p>
<p>Beginning in the early 1900s, the legislature of Apartheid was implemented in order to identify and segregate racial statuses. In affect for nearly a century, Apartheid brought about a tremendous deal of violence through its discriminatory laws. For example, during the mid 1900s (when Apartheid was in full swing) the South African government developed ‘homelands’ in which every black African was assigned one to live in. The purpose of these homelands were to eliminate ‘non-whites’ from areas that were predominately ‘white’ areas.</p>
<p>At the <a href="http://www.apartheidmuseum.org/content/home" target="_blank">Apartheid Museum</a> in Johannesburg, visitors from around the world on a <a href="http://www.hillsofafrica.com/South_Africa/Africa_Safaris_South_Africa.html" target="_blank">trip to South Africa</a> are welcomed to explore the effects that Apartheid had on Africa in the 20th century and how Apartheid has shaped the South Africa we see today.</p>
<p>As you enter the museum, you must purchase your ticket. Once your ticket prints, it randomly classifies you as either ‘white’ or ‘non-white.’ You then continue through the museum based on your classification. This experience helps visitors to understand what it was like for the people of South Africa to enter a public institution.</p>
<p><em><span style="color: #ff6600;">Below are some photographs, taken by one of our clients who recently visited the Apartheid Museum:</span></em></p>

<p style="text-align: center;"><em><span style="color: #ff6600;">Classification Pass Cards on display in the entrance hall</span></em></p>

You’ll see haunting artifacts, photos, film footage, and panels of text, illustrating the force and oppression of discrimination on the South African people.</p>
<p>The museum takes visitors through the timeline of Apartheid from its very beginnings up until today.</p>
<p>One of the most powerful displays is The Pillars of the Constitution. This monument is comprised of seven pillars, which, combined, represent the values put forth by the new South African constitution. These values include democracy, equality, reconciliation, diversity, responsibility, respect, and freedom.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/johan10.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-8589" alt="trip to South Africa" src="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/johan10.jpg" width="480" height="640" /></a></p>
<p>At the end of your tour through the Apartheid Museum, you enter the color garden, where you choose a stick of any color you wish and place it into the garden of  colored-sticks. This is used to symbolize equality.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-8592" alt="trip to South Africa" src="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/johan7.jpg" width="640" height="480" /></p>

</p><p style="text-align: center;"><span style="color: #ff6600;"><em>Image above of a romantic bush bath at <a href="http://www.thehide.com/gallery.html" target="_blank">The Hide Safari Camp</a> in Zimbabwe</em></span></p>
<p><a href="http://www.hillsofafrica.com/about_us.html" target="_blank">As a native to Zimbabwe</a> and a safari coordinator for over 10 years, I’ve developed a keen understanding for what the discerning bride is looking for in a <a href="http://www.hillsofafrica.com/honeymoon_safaris.html" target="_blank">honeymoon</a>, and how I can make those dreams come true in the most exotic and unique continent in the world: Africa.</p>
<p><b><i>Below, I’ve outlined a few of the key ingredients for the ultimate <a href="http://www.hillsofafrica.com/honeymoon_safaris.html" target="_blank">honeymoon in Africa</a>:</i></b></p>
<p><b>Romantic surprises: </b>Imagine coming back from an exciting game drive, only to be welcomed with a rose-pedal-filled bush bath for two on your private veranda. Or picture this: after a long day of travel from the United States you arrive at your first property with a bottle of champagne and chocolate-covered strawberries waiting for you in your luxurious suite. There are unlimited possibilities to the romantic surprises you can experience in Africa!</p>
<p><b>Boutique and luxurious accommodations: </b>When newlyweds think of their dream <a href="http://www.hillsofafrica.com/honeymoon_safaris_faqs.html" target="_blank">luxury honeymoon</a>, they usually don’t picture droves of people, high-rise hotels, and mediocre service. Instead, they imagine privacy, personalized and first-class service, unique and lavish suites, and breathtaking views. In Africa, that is EXACTLY what you’ll find.</p>
<p>From remote, 5-suite lodges in the African bush to lavish, boutique hotels along the coastline of South Africa’s <a href="http://www.hillsofafrica.com/South_Africa/Garden_Route_South_Africa.html" target="_blank">Garden Route</a>, and opulent Dutch farm houses in Cape Winelands to romantic estates, there are a wide variety of unique accommodations throughout southern, eastern, and central Africa that boast all of the features newlyweds dream of.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/Nduara-Loliondo-1-Nomad-Tanzania.jpg"><img class="aligncenter wp-image-8568" alt="Nduara Loliondo 1 - Nomad Tanzania" src="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/Nduara-Loliondo-1-Nomad-Tanzania.jpg" width="648" height="422" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><em><span style="color: #ff6600;">Image above of Nduara Loliondo in Tanzania</span></em></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/marlin-lodge.jpg"><img class="aligncenter wp-image-8569" alt="marlin lodge" src="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/marlin-lodge.jpg" width="648" height="429" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><em><span style="color: #ff6600;">Image above of The Marlin Lodge in Mozambique</span></em></p>
<p><b>A stress-free travel experience: </b>Nothing can ruin a trip quite like the stress of organizing your own travel! The best honeymoons are ones that are organized well in advance and with each element thought out and booked. From airport transfers to activities and domestic flights to restaurant reservations, having all of the details of a trip planned out thoroughly is a key ingredient to an amazing honeymoon. An expert tour operator or agent has the ability to book all of your arrangements without you having to lift a finger or stress about getting from point A to point B or finding a restaurant that suites your particular needs and interests.</p>
<p><b>Fantastic food and romantic dining experiences: </b>Let’s face it, food and wine are at the forefront of an amazing honeymoon! All of the properties we work with are acclaimed for amazing cuisine and most of the properties even tailor their dishes to meet our clients’ needs at the drop of a hat.</p>
<p>Cape Winelands is one of the best places for honeymooners to visit as it has some of the world’s finest, award-winning restaurants and wine estates, all in one place. So after a tasty lunch at one of <a href="http://www.hillsofafrica.com/South_Africa/Cape_Winelands_South_Africa.html" target="_blank">Cape Winelands</a>’ restaurants, honeymooners can embark on a personalized wine tasting tour to get the best of both worlds!</p>
<p><strong><span style="color: #ff6600;"><em>Side Note: If you want to get a glimpse at just how amazing the food is in Africa, check out our new recipe book, </em><a href="http://atasteofafrica.hillsofafrica.com/" target="_blank">a Taste of Africa</a>, <em>that features recipes from some of our favorite accommodations in Africa! <a href="http://atasteofafrica.hillsofafrica.com/" target="_blank">Click here for a sneak peak inside the book.</a></em></span></strong></p>
<p><a href="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/selinda.png"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-8570" alt="selinda" src="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/selinda.png" width="688" height="334" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><em><span style="color: #ff6600;">Image above of a candlelit dinner at </span><a href="http://www.greatplainsconservation.com/selinda/index.html" target="_blank">Selinda Camp</a></em></p>
<p><b>A combination of relaxation, exploration, and adventure: </b>One of the most prominent reasons why newlyweds venture to Africa for their fantasy honeymoon is because there are literally thousands of options to choose from when it comes to activities. You never get stuck doing the same thing each day or laying on the beach without anything else to do.</p>

</p><p><span style="color: #ff6600;">Image to the left of Kanga Camp, taken from the <a href="http://www.africanbushcamps.com/camps-and-safaris/zimbabwe-safari-camps/kanga-camp-in-mana-pools/" target="_blank">African Bush Camps website</a></span></p>
<p><strong>There’s “camping” and then there is “glamping.” So what’s the difference?</strong></p>
<p>Camping is what most would consider to be a 100% rustic experience where you set up your own tents, cook your own meals, sleep on the ground in sleeping bags, eat out of a can, and use nature as your restroom.</p>
<p><strong>Glamping, on the other hand, is glamorous style of camping where all of your meals are cooked for you (and are restaurant quality!), your tents are set up for you, you sleep on a bed, and you enjoy hot showers and toilets.</strong></p>
<p>Many individuals prefer to go glamping instead of stay at a larger lodge or hotel, because they allow you to move with nature and experience the most remote parts of the African continent.</p>
<p><strong>Below are some of our favorite glamping experiences in Zimbabwe:</strong></p>
<p><b>Kanga Camp: </b>Set in a private concession of <a href="http://www.hillsofafrica.com/Zimbabwe/Africa_Safaris_Zimbabwe.html" target="_blank">Zimbabwe’s Mana Pools</a>, Kanga Camp is famous for its comfortable tented camp experience and exciting walking safari tours. The camp allows guests to enjoy the pure wildernesses of <a href="http://www.hillsofafrica.com/Zimbabwe/Africa_Safaris_Zimbabwe.html" target="_blank">Zimbabwe</a>, without having to share with other droves of other tourists. This means that visitors have a completely personalized experience that is unique to their specific visit.</p>
<p>Each of the six tents at <a href="http://www.africanbushcamps.com/camps-and-safaris/zimbabwe-safari-camps/kanga-camp-in-mana-pools/" target="_blank">Kanga Camp</a> are situated along a watering hole for optimal game viewing and feature bucket showers, flushing toilets, and private verandas.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/kanga-camp-35.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-8551" alt="kanga-camp-35" src="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/kanga-camp-35.jpg" width="600" height="398" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><span style="color: #ff6600;">Image above taken from the</span> <a href="http://www.africanbushcamps.com/camps-and-safaris/zimbabwe-safari-camps/kanga-camp-in-mana-pools/" target="_blank">African Bush Camps website</a></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/kanga-camp-38.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-8549" alt="kanga-camp-38" src="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/kanga-camp-38.jpg" width="600" height="398" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><span style="color: #ff6600;">Image above taken from the</span> <a href="http://www.africanbushcamps.com/camps-and-safaris/zimbabwe-safari-camps/kanga-camp-in-mana-pools/" target="_blank">African Bush Camps website</a></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/kanga-camp-34.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-8548" alt="kanga-camp-34" src="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/kanga-camp-34.jpg" width="600" height="398" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><span style="color: #ff6600;">Image above taken from the</span> <a href="http://www.africanbushcamps.com/camps-and-safaris/zimbabwe-safari-camps/kanga-camp-in-mana-pools/" target="_blank">African Bush Camps website</a></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/kanga-camp-40.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-8547" alt="kanga-camp-40" src="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/kanga-camp-40.jpg" width="600" height="398" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><span style="color: #ff6600;">Image above taken from the</span> <a href="http://www.africanbushcamps.com/camps-and-safaris/zimbabwe-safari-camps/kanga-camp-in-mana-pools/" target="_blank">African Bush Camps website</a></p>
<p>During walking safaris around Kanga Camp, guests often witness waterbuck, impala, baboons, monkeys, zebra, warthog, hippo, elephant, crocodile and a wide variety of bird species.</p>
<p>Canoeing safaris are also offered at Kanga Camp, for a different perspective on wildlife.</p>
<p><b>Natureways Safaris’ Mana Shoreline Walking Safari: </b>Imagine waking up to the soft sounds of the African bush as you get ready to embark on an unforgettable walking safari through Zimbabwe’s most game-rich region. On the Mana Shoreline Walking Safari by <a href="http://natureways.com/" target="_blank">Natureways Safaris</a>, you can do just that.</p>
<p>The Mana walking safari is a 3-night, 4-day adventure that enables guests to explore the biodiversity of the Zambezi River and <a href="http://www.hillsofafrica.com/Zimbabwe/Mana_Pools_National_Park_Zimbabwe.html" target="_blank">Mana Pools</a> on foot, while enjoying comfortable accommodations set up by staff members along the way, as well as excellent cuisine cooked on campsite.</p>
<p>Each day, guests are taken along the shoreline of the Zambezi and other waterways by experienced and highly knowledgeable guides to witness some of Zimbabwe’s most stunning creatures, including elephants, hippos, crocodiles, and fascinating insects and birds.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/naturewayssafaris.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-8546" alt="naturewayssafaris" src="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/naturewayssafaris.jpg" width="634" height="474" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><span style="color: #ff6600;">Screenshot above taken from the <a href="http://natureways.com/odyssey/mana-shoreline-walking" target="_blank">Natureways Safaris website</a></span></p>
<p>At the end of an exciting day on this <a href="http://www.hillsofafrica.com/Zimbabwe/Africa_Safaris_Zimbabwe.html" target="_blank">Zimbabwe walking safari</a>, you’ll be greeted at the next camp with a cold beverage of your choice and a hot shower.</p>
<p>And as mentioned in all of the other examples above, this safari experience is not considered “roughing it.” Rather, all of your meals (comprised on fresh ingredients that are brought in daily) are cooked for you, freshly brewed coffee is waiting for you each morning, a hot shower is ready for you when you arrive at camp, all of the tented accommodations are set up for you prior to your arrival, and there are long-drop toilets for guests’ comfort and convenience. The perk of this experience is that you are exploring nature in its purest form as the first safari pioneers once did, while being catered to by professional staff in comfortable mobile accommodations.</p>
<p><b>Mana Pools Canoe Trail:</b> Along the <a href="http://www.wilderness-safaris.com/zimbabwe/mana_canoe_trail/introduction/" target="_blank">Mana Pools Canoe Trail</a>, guests experience up-close encounters with the wildlife of Zimbabwe, without the constraints of fences, game vehicles, and other restrictive barriers. In fact, the Mana Pools Canoe Trail is globally recognized for its ability to bring guests into the closest possible proximity to wildlife, without compromising safety.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/elephant.jpg"><img class="aligncenter wp-image-8107" alt="elephant" src="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/elephant.jpg" width="682" height="455" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><span style="color: #ff6600;">Image above taken from the <a href="http://www.wilderness-safaris.com/zimbabwe/mana_canoe_trail/introduction/" target="_blank">Wilderness Safaris website</a></span></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/mana-canoe-e1358978860548.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-8106" alt="mana canoe" src="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/mana-canoe-e1358978860548.jpg" width="650" height="432" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><span style="color: #ff6600;">Image above taken from the</span> <a href="http://www.wilderness-safaris.com/zimbabwe/mana_canoe_trail/introduction/" target="_blank">Wilderness Safaris website</a></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/camp.jpg"><img class="aligncenter wp-image-8103" alt="camp" src="http://www.livethemagicofafrica.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/camp.jpg" width="658" height="438" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><span style="color: #ff6600;">Image above taken from the</span> <a href="http://www.wilderness-safaris.com/zimbabwe/mana_canoe_trail/introduction/" target="_blank">Wilderness Safaris website</a></p>
<p>Because the Mana Pools Canoe Trail is a 4-day adventure, the camp that you would be staying at is mobile—moving along the river as you do. The three nights spent along the Zambezi are in spacious tents with proper twin beds that are set up for you upon arrival to your camping location. Lanterns provide ample light for the evening and they also make for a romantic and enchanting setting along the river!</p>
<p>Guests also have to be comfortable with experiencing the sounds of nature at night.</p>
<p><b>Zambezi Life Styles: </b> Offering private glamping experiences for small groups of up to eight individuals (12 individuals can be accommodated upon request), <a href="http://www.africanbushcamps.com/camps-and-safaris/zimbabwe-safari-camps/zambezi-life-styles/" target="_blank">Zambezi Life Styles </a>takes all other tourists out of the equation, to ensure that guests experience the ultimate in exclusivity. The camp is set up along the Lower Zambezi River and features detailed furnishings and amenities that add an element of luxury to the whole “camping experience.”</p>
