Reaffirming our purpose

To mark our twenty year milestone St James Ethics Centre embarked on a journey of rediscovery, reflecting on the original tenets of the organisation, the current situation and the desired direction.

Our invigorated Values & Principles and new logo signal a renewed commitment to bringing the ethical dimension to the hearts and minds of all. It is fitting that this edition of Living Ethics also captures this reflective journey by revisiting some of the ethical gems in the St James Ethics Centre archives.

Living Ethics: issue 83, autumn 2011

In this issue we consider the issue of concern: when and how we care about things and what we do in response to our concerns.

From victims of natural disasters and workplace bullies to making technology available to children from developing countries and the issue of how newspapers deal with offensive comments submitted for publication by readers, where does responsibility lie for ensuring that genuine concern translates into action?
