It is also the astonishing professional expertise in different fields that is gathered around the table of Hotel zur Linde every month that makes the group interesting.
Last month we were invited in the UNO City in Vienna for a workshop on „Effective participation in groups“ held by our dear Dr. Shantu Watt. Niki Renner, Dr. Ulrike Schuller, a group of about 35 other international women and myself attended the workshop. We were very impressed by Shanthu´s performance and her natural way of explaining the complexity of how one can function in a group. We had a good laugh when in the role play some of the ladies seemed to be half professionals in acting. We could choose out of the list below to reflect in which role we mostly fit in in the groups we are participating in.

The Dominator
The Automatic Talker
Vicim Poor me
The Loooong Story Teller
Dumper Spoiler
The egg Shell
The Bully
The Walkout+Dominator +Viper
Polyanna: The Happy Optimist
Intellectualiser – critic
Non participator
Organiser

„There is a fundamental need for humans to belong to social groups. When individuals get into groups they do so for different reasons. Belonging to a group can be a life-enhancing experience bringing with it many benefits; such as high morale, a sense of belonging and contributing individually and collectively in a worthwhile way. It can allow individual opportunities for originality. However, groups can also have a destructive influence and can damage a person’s personality structure and may dissolve their self-confidence and self-image. Groupthink can be a powerful vehicle for conformity, compliance and coercion. This workshop examines the ways for enhanced individual participation, self-determination and awareness of managing one-self in „ (Dr. S.Watt)

On one of our walks in the Wine District, Maria Schick showed us the place where this little witch is living in Ladendorf. Linda knows everything about local herbs, plants and trees. The formula of meeting for a coffee every last Thursday of the month at Hotel zur Linde in Mistelbach an der Zaya was until today successful. We will go on with this event for the rest of the year. The walks are not taking place in such a regular base, check your mail (if you are in the list) or watch the website. We had a very relaxing walk in Asparn in September, where Sita Schlögl was guiding. In October I am planning a walk in Mistelbach (date t.b.a.) .

Tomorrow we are starting the 5th year already that the international coffee is taking place. Thanks to everybody for being still enthusiastic and visiting the organized activities.

September Coffee morning: Thursday, 29.09.2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Hotel zur Linde in Mistelbach an der Zaya.

See you! Martine
