Girls swimming: Classic 8 Relays
Arrowhead continued its longstanding dominance in the Classic 8 Conference by winning the league's annual relays meet Sept. 8, but it wasn't by a large margin. The Warhawks did just enough to edge out Waukesha South/Mukwonago, 124-120, in a meet at Waukesha West.

In her three years of running in the prestigious Arrowhead Cross Country Invitational, one of the top meets in the state each year, University Lake School's Molly Seidel has been nothing less than outstanding.

University Lake School senior phenom Molly Seidel ran perhaps the fastest girls cross-country time in state history (13:34), and Arrowhead's girls achieved four of the top five team spots among the milestones at the Arrowhead Invite on Sept. 8.

Spirits were high at Kettle Moraine High School on Tuesday, but sky high for Jorge Barreiro and Waukesha West.

Historical Society enjoys life on the square
For 25 years the East Troy Area Historical Society (ETAHS) did not have a home. After raising funds for three years, and through the generosity of the Henry Kubicki family, the Kubicki Historical Heritage Center has been open on the East Troy Square since May 2010.

Waukesha - It took Waukesha County Circuit Court Judge Donald J. Hassin Jr. about eight minutes last week to toss out of court Lisbon-Inc.org.'s latest effort at incorporating the Town of Lisbon into a village.
83/59 intersection to close this month
Beginning at about 3 a.m. Sept. 26, the intersection of Highways 83 and 59 will be closed to traffic until Oct. 6 to allow construction crews to complete roundabout work.
Large crowds show Lisbon won't forget
Town of Lisbon - An estimated 1,250 people from across Southeastern Wisconsin jammed into the Town Hall parking lot Sunday afternoon for the dedication of a volunteer-built 9-11 memorial to honor the nearly 3,000 people who died in the terrorist attacks 10 years ago as well as the police officers, firefighters and military men and women who continue protecting the country from another attack.(1)

Merton pupils use Google Chrome Books
The Merton Community School District has always been at the forefront in implementing new and innovative forms of technology into its curriculum. Two years ago, the School District used referendum money to purchase Netbooks for each student from fifth through eighth grade. This year, the district took the first step in upgrading and updating that technology, putting Google Chrome Books in the hands of each sixth-grader.

Pay equity approved for nonunion
City of Oconomowoc - Nonunion city employees will get a temporary 5.1-percent pay equity adjustment from August through the end of the year. The Common Council approved the increase Tuesday night to keep nonunion employees equal with union employees.

Chicago woman in Eagle high-speed crash
A 28-year-old Chicago woman received several citations, including drunken driving, after crashing her minivan into a fire hydrant and a pickup truck before coming to a stop when she hit a telephone pole at 8:17 p.m. Aug. 25 on Elkhorn Road at Railroad Street in the Village of Eagle.(6)

Local Civil War stories shared over tea
The Sussex-Lisbon Area Historical Society (SLAHS) held a Civil War Tea on Sunday. This year marks the 150th anniversary of the American Civil War and the tea was part of a continuing four-year event to commemorate Sussex and Lisbon's participation in the conflict.
Foundation presents awards, grants to Hamilton staff
The Hamilton Education Foundation presented 18 Hamilton School District staff members with awards at the Aug. 31 Back-to-School Breakfast. Number of KMHS grads taking ACT remains high
Kettle Moraine School District - While ACT scores for Kettle Moraine High School remain fairly steady, the number of students taking the college admission test also remains higher than several years ago, mirroring the state results, which shows overall participation, composite scores and college readiness benchmarks up in Wisconsin, according to the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.
