Its’ that time… Law of Attraction Carnival Time…

This 56th Law of Attraction Carnival has some interesting posts and viewpoints…. I personally don’t embrace all these viewpoints. As I’ve said many times this carnival is not about what I embrace – it is about the diversity and different perspectives of the Law of Attraction.

When I do say this – I always get a few emails that say “Why do you post articles that you don’t agree with?” Let’s clear this up – I don’t disagree with the perspectives – I just don’t always 100% agree with them. I think that is good.

I get to read and digest all these different ideas, opinions and perspectives — As I read – sometimes I think “Nope I don’t see it that way” other times I think “Hmmm that is interesting”. Each time I expand – I broaden my perspective and I deepen my knowing of me. I embrace the diversity and embrace my knowing of what is and isn’t appropriate for me.

I hope that is what the Law of Attraction Carnival does for you. I appreciate all of the authors who submitted and thank them for putting their wisdom into words.

When we hear the word “depreciating” we think of material things – like a house.

If you don’t keep your house updated – it will depreciate in value. On the other hand if you are updating your house – putting in new appliances, new siding, new windows – possibly even adding an extension – then your house will “appreciate” in value.

But… I’m not here to talk about houses…
My question is in regard to your life.

How do you “Appreciate” or “Depreciate” your life?

• Are you getting up every morning and finding something to appreciate? All of my clients and workshop attendees know I always advocate making an “appreciation list” every morning. What a great way to start the day – finding a few things to appreciate starts your day with joy.

So many times we get up and start our day with worry or trying to figure things out. That doesn’t sound very joyful to me and it puts us in a frustrated or antsy mode.

Knowing the Law of Attraction – if I’m feeling worry or doubt or frustrated -  that is the signal I am putting out to the Universe. Do I really want to start my day sending that signal?

• Are you paying attention to how you feel throughout the day?
  So many times we can go through an entire day in a low-level arena of frustration. Again that is usually because we have thoughts of worry or frustration rolling around that we aren’t even fully aware of. We actually tolerate a low-level of frustration.

If I take “appreciation breaks” – I can deliberately focus my attention on things that make me feel good. Some people say “Well will that solve my problems?” – I say “Well you will feel good” — Again they ask “But will it solve my problems?” — Hmmm – I guess we put Feel Good – Feeling Appreciation low on the priority list! 

• Are you ending your day with appreciation? Here again many have a habit of going to bed with their problems. Then they wonder why did I toss and turn all night?

Go get that list you wrote in the morning, or create a new one, and read it and feel the appreciation you have. Think about things that went right today – think about things that make you happy. Going to sleep in appreciation will put you into a peaceful sleep and you will be more inclined to wake up happy.

These are a few ways you can “appreciate” your life… You are deliberately adding value to your experience of life by taking the time to focus on things that uplift you.

If I don’t “appreciate” is my life “depreciating”?

Your value never, ever depreciates – you are a Loving, Magnificent Being – Priceless – whether you claim that or not. However by not taking time to find the joy in your day – you are indeed “depreciating” your experience of life.

As a society – we have a habit of focusing on what is wrong instead of what is joyful and lovely about life. If you want to have joyful life experience – you need to cultivate the habit of “Appreciation”.

Today these are the “themes” that are running around in my head… Christopher Columbus, Mothers, Heroes & Websites.

What do these possibly have in common?

Well let’s see if I can make sense of it all….

Christopher Columbus – Today, October 12th is Christopher Columbus’s birthday. So what? – well here in the US we celebrate this day – as he is the guy that is credited with discovering America.

If you know this history – he actually made a “mistake” and was able to turn it into a “discovery”… Many of you know… my motto is “There are No Mistakes….. Only Discoveries!” I wrote a post about that awhile back.

• So… Today I have been thinking about discoveries…..

Mothers – Four years ago today, Oct 12th, my mother made her transition. It was a total surprise to us all…. She was a very special person and a huge influence in my life. I wrote about her last year on this day.

• So… Today I have been thinking about my mother…..

Heroes – As I wrote that article, last year, about my mother – I became aware that I never considered any person a “hero” in my life. If you would have asked me “who is your hero” – I would have answered with a blank stare on my face…

But as I wrote that article about my mother – I realized she was indeed a huge influence in my life. I honor and respect the way she lived her life. I was so aware of how well she taught her children – not so much by her words (well she had lots of words!   ) mostly by how she lived and conducted her life. Yes she is indeed my Hero.

• So… Today I have been thinking about heroes…..

Websites – Today I debut my new design for this website. (Do you like it?) I started this design in January… I would pick it up and put it down — do a little here and there and go off and so something else…. There were times I was going to force myself to complete this – then would realize that is not the road I ever want to go down — forcing myself to do something.

I let it go – I am a true believer when the time is right – I will know… Finally last week it just all came together – Late last night I pushed the buttons and let it happen… This morning I realized -  my website is make it’s new design debut on the anniversary of my mother’s transition. I didn’t plan it that way…. but it is kind of cool it has all unfolded this way.

• So… Today I have been thinking about websites…..

Put This All Together

So here I am thinking about discoveries, my mother, my website and heros. In essence I am thinking about my life.

The discoveries I have made through the years (that some would call mistakes) ….

The late night chats I would have with my mother as we each revealed the discoveries we had encountered. This website which for the last 2 years has brought me many, many more discoveries.

After I wrote that article about my mother – I have realized that today if you ask me who my heroes are – I would answer – “You”  I believe today that this word hero – belongs to every being that walks this planet – as I truly believe “every person does the absolute best they can do – given with what is going on in their life at that particular moment”

This website has brought me so many opportunities to meet many heroes – You who are reading this – the heroes that leave comments, send me emails, ask me questions, submit articles to the blog carnival. All of you “heroes” have influenced my life and has deepened me. I so very much appreciate you all!

So today, October 12th – the birthday of Christopher Columbus, the anniversary of the transition of my special hero, my Mother -  this website has made it’s new design debut. I didn’t plan it this way…. but I am sure the Universe, my mother and maybe even Christopher Columbus had some doings in it!

I hope you like the new design – let me know what you think…

I hope you embrace the discoveries, which sometimes come dressed as problems and embrace the heroes, who sometimes are also dressed as problems.

The Best of the Best

Adversity – what do you think of when you say that word?

What do you feel when you say it?

I asked several people what thoughts come to mind when they hear that word.

• Problem
• Obstacle
• Trouble
• Bad Situation

OK – So we all agree we don’t consider this a happy word — When we hear it our thoughts turn to something negative…. to a feeling of powerlessness.

I hear some well meaning people say things like “Embrace Adversity” or “Overcome Adversity” – “Face Adversity” and some say “Allow Adversity”

We know our experiences are created from our vibrations — If I am putting my attention on adversity – aka bad situations – aka problems — The signal I am emitting is one of adversity — Do I really want to be calling this to me?

I’m not going to embrace, overcome, face or allow adversity – I’m going to make it disappear!

Re-frame Adversity

Some of you are already experiencing a job loss – maybe your house is in foreclosure. Maybe your business has slowed down and your expenses have risen.

I do understand these are not fun situations – I also understand how the Law of Attraction works…. By continuing to label these situations as bad, as adversity – you continue to hold them in your focus – which continues the merry go round of adversity.

That is the Law of Attraction at work - it always will bring to you the signal you are sending out. It is mirroring to you what you have your attention on. If your attention is on lack – you are then riding on the lack merry-go-round.

You need to take a step back… and make peace with the situation.

How?

First by realizing that complaining, being angry or worrying about it – will never, ever make the situation better! So simply state – “What is – IS” – I can’t change this situation but I can deliberately choose how I am going to react to it.

What ever has gone on is history – even if it just happened minutes ago. Trying to change something that has already happened is what makes us feel powerless – as it can not be done! Deciding to deliberately make peace with it and find the opportunity is where you re-frame it and gain your power back.

What possible opportunity could be found in the foreclosure of a house or the loss of a job?

That is your job – to find the opportunity…. Sometimes it is just simply stating – “This situation is frustrating for me — but I’m OK – my family is OK and somehow I have faith that this is all going to work out.”

There is relief in that statement – as you find relief – you give yourself more space for better feelings thoughts to come in. As you feel better you open the space for good things to come to you.

If you stay in the space of worry and anxiety – Law of Attraction will do its job and bring more things with worry and anxiety… The Universe can not show you the opportunities until you develop the thought – the vibration.

6 ½ years ago my partner unexpectedly made her transition. I was in total shock – that night I looked into the mirror and said out loud “In this pile of crap – there is a diamond and I am going to find it”

No – I wasn’t being gallant – I understood the Law of Attraction. I understood if I put myself in the victim mode – I was going to attract more discord. So I made a commitment to me ….. it was my job everyday to find a way to feel OK.

Acceptance makes Adversity Disappear…

Some may think I am saying to make believe the situation is not happening. I am not at all implying that. If you are trying to make believe something doesn’t upset you – it does still indeed upset you!

Making peace is a very different scenario — You are looking at the subject – You are accepting that this has happened – You are making the decision that you are not going to fall into the adversity trap – instead you are going to deliberately choose your thoughts.

I work with clients who hold onto grudges, disappointments, resentments for years…. All the energy that is wasted on a situation that has already happened – and never once has all that energy changed what did indeed go on.

Stepping back and declaring “What is – IS” is actually a powerful step. I can stop wasting my energy lamenting about this situation and I can direct my energy towards thoughts that make me feel better. While I can’t change a situation that has already happened – I can claim my power by deliberately choosing how I am going to react to it.

This is a step by step process – if you are in despair you are not going to jump straight up into joy. Step by step continue to deliberately choose your thoughts – thoughts that make you feel better.

You will feel your power in this process - you will gain great insight about your life – your vibration will rise and the doors of opportunity will open for you. You will soon say “Adversity? What adversity? I get to choose if a situation is a problem or an opportunity!”

Today I received the email below from my friend Bren in Maine…

I’m sharing it just as I received it…..

Postal Service at its best!

This  is one of the kindest things you may ever see.
It is not known who replied, but there is a beautiful soul working in the dead letter office of the US postal  service.

Our 14 year  old dog, Abbey, died last month. The day after she died, my 4 year old daughter Meredith was crying and talking  about how much she missed Abbey. She asked if we could write a letter to God so that when Abbey got to heaven, God would recognize her. I told her that I thought we could so she dictated these  words:

Dear  God,
Will you please take care of my dog? She died yesterday and is with you in heaven. I miss her very much. I am happy that you let me have her as my dog even though she got sick.

I hope you will play with her. She likes to play with balls and to swim.. I am sending a picture of her so when you see her you will know that she is my dog. I really miss  her.
Love,  Meredith

We put the  letter in an envelope with a picture of Abbey and Meredith and addressed it to God/Heaven. We put our return address on it. Then Meredith pasted several stamps on the front of  the envelope because she said it would take lots of stamps to get the letter all the way to heaven. That afternoon she dropped it into the letter box at the post office. A  few days later, she asked if God had gotten the letter yet. I told her that I thought He had.

Yesterday, there was a package wrapped in gold paper on our front  porch addressed, ‘To Meredith’ in an unfamiliar hand. Meredith opened it. Inside was a book by Mr. Rogers  called, ‘When a Pet Dies.’ Taped to the inside front cover  was the letter we had written to God in its opened envelope. On the opposite page was the picture of Abbey & Meredith and this note:

Dear  Meredith,

Abbey arrived safely in heaven.

Having the picture was a big help. I recognized Abbey right away.

Abbey isn’t sick anymore. Her spirit is here with me just like it stays in your heart. Abbey loved being your dog. Since we don’t need our bodies in heaven, I don’t have any pockets to keep your picture in, so I am sending it back to you in  this little book for you to keep and have something to remember Abbey by..

Thank you  for the beautiful letter and thank your mother for helping  you write it and sending it to me. What a wonderful mother you have. I picked her especially for you.

I send my blessings every day and remember that I love you very much.

By the way, I’m easy to find, I am wherever there is love.

God did indeed answer that little girl… God as a postal worker.

We are all God, Universe, Source, Soul, Spirit, Unconditional Love – whatever name you call it. Sometimes we let the fullness of who we really are shine through – as this postal worker did with Meredity. Other times – we get busy, cranky, worried and our godness does not always shine…

Even though it might not be shining out – we are still always this Unconditional Love. That person sitting next to you on the bus, that pleasant waitress, your cranky co-worker … and that person who looks back at you in the mirror. All of us are that Universal Love – even when we don’t act like it.

The next time someone cuts you off in traffic instead of responding in anger – stop and remember who is driving that car and who is driving your car!

Connect with the Universal Love that you are… Smile at lots of people – say Good Morning to people whether you know them or not – See the godness is the faces of all the people you meet today – Send a friend a card for no reason – Bring flowers to someone … just because – You will touch many, many lives – more than you can imagine. Just as this postal worker touched Meredith and all of us who have read this.

And Remember….

God, Universe, Spirit, Universal Love …. is easy to find

“I am wherever there is love.”
