It's a helpful trait, having a handyman for a husband.

Inspired by all the fancy headboards we saw during a home decor store hunt, Hubs decided that he could make one just as nice as the $1,500 leather one I drooled over.

Hubs sized it up. Checking it out from top to bottom and front to back, he squeezed the sides of this fancy headboard and announced,

"I could make this."

So he did.

We visited a local fabric store and Home Depot to pick up all of our supplies. Hubs took seven hours to put everything together, and it still looks fabulous!

The most time-consuming parts of the entire process were the final touches: sewing on the buttons, attaching the fabric, etc.

Total cost of our project? Between $150 and $200.

(You can find a number of neat headboard tutorials here and here.)
