Introducing Ceomhor!

We're getting a new dog whose name will be Ceomhor which is Scotts Gaelic for misty, pronouncing it keō vor -- letters in Scotts Gaelic are pronounced quite unlike they are in English words.

They tell us that Ceomhor is an Australian shepherd mix but they're just guessing. I'm hoping our vet will be able to us more when we take her in. She's 10-12 months old and was found near a 7-Eleven, probably looking for food. She had had puppies but the puppies were never found. I'm hoping someone found them and is taking care of them -- it's been too long now to track them down.

We found her last week, but the adoption center doesn't allow you to take the animals home until they've been spayed which will be tomorrow. We'll be able to pick her up on Thursday. We visited her today, so these are taken in the meet and greet room at the pet adoption center.

She is sweet and curious and affectionate. She moves fast enough that it's hard to take a photo of her! I managed to get a couple decent ones and then Iain suggested I make a video, so I did that. It's the last thing on the page here.

We think she's beautiful, too; we're really looking forward to bringing her home!

In May 2004, Iain and I went to the Renaissance Faire outside Atlanta with my brother-in-law and his wife. Iain was 10 years old at the time; it was a hot day, but we had fun and saw some very pretty things. We also bought a paining of a dragon that Iain really liked as we were reading Eragon at the time, and the dragon in the painting was blue, like Eragon's Saphira. We framed it and it's in our dining room; a photo of it which is on this page, but it does not do it justice.

Ray at Alzheimer's home

We went to visit my father-in-law, Ray M, this evening, as we do most Saturdays. It was a beautiful evening, not too hot. My husband sat with Ray on the front porch to talk for a little while and I took some photos.

The last photo below is from last May; Ray had been using a wheelchair regularly for quite a while. I've been thrilled that the last few weeks when we've visited, he has been walking more; tonight, we didn't even bother taking his wheelchair with us. Overall, he seems stronger and that's pretty cool.

My husband took Luath outside to play frisbee in our front yard, and I took my camera. I had tried to get photos of him playing frisbee before but never had been successful. However, this is the first time I’d used my newer camera, a Sony Cyber-Shot, and its motion stabilization allowed me to get some nice pictures. I’m thrilled. I did not try to push it by using the 3x zoom because I was more likely to get Luath in the frame that way; I simply cropped the photos afterwards. I still managed to get some photos of all grass, though.
