Indigo has made a strong start and looks and works pretty well but it doesn’t seem to have been fully developed for accessibility.

The interface is falling off the sides of the display when using display zoom. For reference I’m using an iPhone 17 Pro with display zoom and largest text.

I’m going back to openvibe for now as this app works with my display settings.

I’ve reported this to the developer so I’ll keep an eye out for an update.

I quite liked the look of the Googlebook, announced today.

I’ve tried my best to grab and enhance the resolution of the wallpaper. Here is my best effort until I can get the original source.

Here’s an example of why I’m glad I moved to the iPhone 17 Pro from the iPhone Air. I still miss the form factor but this photo I took from my sofa with max digital zoom and it’s great.

This was probably the push I needed and to be honest I’ve not missed the MacBook Pro at all. It was my do everything computer until the last few weeks but now I’ve designated it for desktop duties I’m enjoying the variation of an having an iPad again.

It’s a much better suited device to what I need in a mobile computer. I was using my MacBook Pro off the desk for watching TV and listening to music on top of the typical stuff you’ll use on a computer. The iPad can do all of that but in a much more ergonomic form factor plus with the Apple Pencil it’s become the way I’m navigating the interface and hand writing notes and journaling. My setup is simple, iPad Pro with an Apple Smart Folio plus the Apple Pencil with a rubber grip added to make it better for handwriting.

I’m still early into getting back into using the iPad, not as a laptop replacement but as a mobile computer.

Here’s an example of a recent search I was doing it this search assistant, if you click on the cog on the top right of the little window as above you bring up some settings.

You need to chose ‘Never’ and save then you are back to the DuckDuckGo you know from before.

Since moving to the iPad as my portable computing device I’ve noticed that I’ve slipped into using it for consumption too much for my liking. I picked it up to help manage my productivity and help me feel more in control of life but for the last few days it’s become a distraction device.

What I’ve noticed is my muscle memory of using it to watch YouTube has come back and I’m spending way too much time watching and being distracted by the algorithm. This is the opposite of what I bought it for.

So I’m removing distractions.

I’ve unsubscribed from YouTube Premium and deleted the app from my iPad. It’s now reserved for my Apple TV when it’s more targeted time for it not having it available on the one device that is meant to help not hinder. Google are smarter than me and employ people to create a slot machine so I know when I’m beat.

All I can do is remove anything that distracts me, I know it when I see it so will have to manage it on a case by case basis. The iPad is going to be pretty bare bones when it comes to apps going forward.

The main reason being that Journal treats handwritten entries as an image. This means two things, (1) it’s not searchable and (2) it’s buggy as heck. I’ve had multiple times where I’ll be writing a long entry and when I save it cuts off the second half of the text, like it’s hit an internal buffer or something.

I can’t trust Journal to deal with handwriting so this is enough to not use it.

I journal pretty simply so Apple Notes does the job and more importantly doesn’t cut off text and is searchable.

If you’re also looking to create a digital journal you can use the Apple Pencil with then Notes is the best option if you’re sticking to Apple apps like I do.

This is also very helpful for me as someone that struggles with decision fatigue and just having a single item to grab instead of figuring out what one to use is taking a lot of energy from me.

Technology for me is pretty straightforward in this but something like a watch is more tricky. I have digital ones that I can get rid of because I prefer analog but then for my analog I have sentimental ones and then ones that are better for me specifically because the dial is clear etc.

It’s just a start but it has helped me with stopping to purchase new things at least over the last week. I was eyeing up a new watch but no more. It’s just things that’ll be landfill later so why burden myself with them now.
