Probably inspired by Artemis II I’ve been wearing my Speedmaster a lot more recently and pretty much moved back to it full time but I wanted to change the strap. I’ve been a fan of the space worn look and from the days of Apollo NASA used a Velcro one that fitted over a spacesuit but could also be worn in normal use.

I’ve tested a few different brands and I’ve settled on what I think is the best.

The Lunar Replicas version is my pick and for less than $30 also the best value. It’ll be an international shipping item if you’re in the UK like me but it’s totally worth it because you won’t find anything else as good as this band. I notice it’s currently out of stock but I’ll be ordering a second as the print has worn off on my one that I’ve owned now for a couple of years.

As you probably know I recently switched to the iPhone 17 Pro and whilst I’ve been adjusting to the weight a little harder than I thought there are some positives.

• Orange is my favourite colour so of course I like this colour, I’m also using without a case
• I like having access to all the cameras I need whenever I want
• The speaker is a big step up from the Air and I’m using around the house as a portable speaker for music

Overall I’m still adjusting but taking the case off has really helped me, it’s obviously immediately smaller and lighter losing height, width and about 30g of weight.

Tomodachi Life came out today and I’m playing but when I went to grab a screenshot I noticed it wasn’t there in the app on my phone.

Turns out the developer hasn’t enabled upload so you can’t share your screenshots.

I’ve been using an iPhone since the 3G and a Mac since 2007, wow it’s coming on 20 years! By now you can tell I’m pretty locked in. I go through phases of trying to move out to something else then revert back to the simplicity of iCloud and Apple apps. I’m not particularly tied to Apple or iMessage, moving to Android or something else now RCS is being adopted would make it easy but I keep leaning back on what’s familiar. I look at folding Android phones and wonder what it would be like to try one again and I wonder how to export my photo library and put it somewhere else but it all takes work.

Leaving an ecosystem is so much work, especially when your tank is already empty. That’s where I’m at, being burnt out a lot of the time is both tiring and demoralising, whenever I’ve tried to move to say another mail provider I’m frustrated. When I try to move to another music service I don’t have the mental capacity to learn the new UI and when I think about moving 55,000 photos on a 20MB internet connection I can’t even comprehend how long it would take. When I last went to an airshow it took almost a month to upload all of my RAW images to iCloud! That is a problem I am working on fixing with fibre being installed pretty soon.

To move my data to somewhere else requires energy and time. The latter I have, the former I don’t.

Neurodiversity also negatively plays into this. Seeing the task and breaking it down is difficult and I don’t trust myself not to impulsively move back to iCloud and do the whole thing over again. I’ve already been struggling with this move to the 17 Pro and already on the verge of selling it. I’ve got more to say about being neurodivergent as I learn more but I’m not a fan so far.

Knowing myself, not liking or trusting that person and knowing my energy – for now I’m with Apple. I don’t feel trapped by technology at all, it’s energy and overwhelm. Why add more complication to a person that is already struggling to tread water? Makes no sense.

I’m trying not to run here when I have an issue in iOS or with Apple. I’m having to start again almost, well that’s what it feels like.

It’s a habit that is taking a bit to get back into.

This is a good post that helped and I had already been using and enjoying Deezer previously so was happy to see they are based in France. This meant that I just needed to log into my account and import my music from Apple Music and restart my Deezer subscription.

Gemini: “It looks like there’s a bit of a misunderstanding! Marvin Ducksch actually did play for Birmingham City yesterday (Sunday, April 12, 2026).”

Me: “check again, you’re wrong”

Gemini: “While Marvin Ducksch did play (and scored) in the 2-1 win over Norwich City, that match actually took place in February and was featured in highlights yesterday.”

I queried why he was missing with no results then

Gemini: “The Match: Birmingham City missed him dearly, drawing 0-0 against Wrexham. Without their leading scorer (who has 10 goals this season), they lacked a clinical edge.”

Errr, Birmingham City won 2-0!

Why do we waste our time on this stuff, think of the energy wasted and it’s impact on the planet and ourselves.

What I’ve found in finding out about my own diagnosis and relaxing a lot with this fact and how I naturally work I just let myself settle naturally on something and not stress about it. So I built my own system, I’d suggest if you are also neurodivergent and struggling you do the same.

I started on tech, went to notepads when overwhelmed and realised it didn’t work so I went back to tech because I need a reminder that pops up everywhere that reminds me to do things like showering or brushing my teeth.

Finding the tech stack that worked also needed some time, I have ended up in the Apple ecosystem over time so I started there because they are free and have apps. I don’t like web apps, expensive subscription services, unnecessary clutter, AI or illustrations (looking at you Todoist).

I use Apple Calendar, Mail, Reminders and Notes – these all work for me right now. I use the widgets on my Mac and iPhone and they are also showing me what is due on my lock screen. I won’t promise it stays like this but for now the apps are basic enough to help me and more importantly built into what I use.

But as I said you need to work out what works for you, it might also not be what you want e.g. I would love the tactile nature of a notebook and pen but I know my limitations and need tech to help me get through my day with it’s available everywhere and ability to pester me. If I use a notebook I genuinely forget I even have a notebook. I have a load of notebooks with just a few pages written in them.
