<description>The United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI) and the University of Turin, Faculty of Law, have announced the third edition of the LL.M. in International Crime and Justice begins on November 17, 2008 and runs until mid-July 2009. &lt;br /&gt;
 The course is composed of two modules. The first is an eLearning unit, running from November to January. This is followed by on-campus lectures in Turin, Italy from February to July 2009.  &lt;br /&gt;

<title>New English Foreign Lawyer Transfer Rules Go Into Effect on September 1</title>

<description>Britain&amp;#039;s Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) announced this week that&amp;amp;nbsp;revisions to its guidelines for foreign lawyers interested in becoming solictors in England and Wales will go into effect on September 1, 2008.&amp;amp;nbsp;The changes include a stipulation that all foreign lawyers must have at least one year&amp;#039;s experience in English law before they can become solicitors. &lt;br /&gt;
 The other major change is a &amp;quot;new guidance&amp;quot; for considering requests for exemption from the Qualified Lawyers Transfer Test (QLTT). &lt;br /&gt;
 The changes were supposed go into effect in March, but was delayed by six months. &lt;br /&gt;
 SRA Chief Executive Antony Townsend said the changes &amp;quot;are designed to protect the public interest, to fair to all solicitors, and to continue to allow appropriately experience lawyers who qualified abroad to come and practise in England and Wales as fully recognised England and Wales solicitors.&amp;quot; &lt;br /&gt;

<title>Northwestern Law School Announces New Two-Year J.D. Program

<description>Northwestern University School of Law in Chicago, Illinois has announced it will begin a new, two-year juris doctor (J.D.) in May 2009.  The accelerated program will give around 40 students a chance to obtain a J.D. in five semesters instead of six.    &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
 Only a few other U.S. law schools, including Southwestern University School of Law in Los Angeles, offer accelerated J.D. programs. &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
 Application material will become available on September 1, 2008.  Applications for the inaugural program will be due on January 1, 2009. &lt;br /&gt;

<title>UC Berkeley (Boalt) Announces Accelerated Summer LL.M. Program</title>

<description>Berkeley Law at the University of California, Berkeley (Boalt Hall)&amp;amp;nbsp;has announced a new accelerated Summer LL.M. program for International Students.&amp;amp;nbsp; The program, which begins in the summer of 2009, allows students to earn an LL.M. by attending classes over two consecutive summers. Each summer term is three months long.  &lt;br /&gt;
 According to the law school, the program is &amp;quot;ideally suited for individuals who are already employed and able to take shorter leaves from their careers and home.&amp;quot; &lt;br /&gt;
 The application deadline for the 2009-2010 program is August 1, 2008. &lt;br /&gt;
