How to Set and Achieve A Goal

All right, I have a story to share with you today regarding money and respect.

In today’s world, money is like the air. You can’t live without it. However, if you have plenty of it, you won’t ‘breath in’ more either. Think of those multibillionaire. Do you think they need more money to eat a better, larger lobster? Unfortunately, not everybody thinks so.

Let me share a story with you to illustrate my point.

Once, there was a rich man who had almost everything he ever wanted. The only thing that seemed to bug him is, he didn’t feel respected. So, he kept on thinking how he could gain more respect from people around him.

As he was walking along an alley one night, he came across a beggar.

“Here’s an opportunity,” he said to himself and drop a coin on the beggar’s bowl.

“Now, you should be thankful to me,”

The beggar took a look at him and ignored him.

The rich man felt angry and said, “Hey, are you blind?”

“It’s up to you whether you want to give me the coin or not but if you don’t like it, you can take it back,” replied the beggar.

The rich man became even angrier and dropped 10 more coins to the beggar.

“What about now? You should be grateful to me and thank me.”

The beggar gave him a blank look and didn’t even pay any attention to him.

“Now I’m the rich man here. At least you should show some respect to me”

“Give me money or not is up to you but whether I should give you any respect, it’s up to me. It can’t be forced.”

The rich man felt extremely annoyed.

“I give you half of everything I owned. Now you should respect me” shouted the rich man angrily.

“If you give me half of your asset, then we’re equally rich. Then why I should respect you?”

The rich man can’t control himself anymore.

“I give you all my money and possession. Should you respect me now? You must, mustn’t you?”

“If you give me all your money and possession, then I’m the rich man and you’re the beggar. I have a better reason not to respect you now,” replied the beggar sarcastically.

The End.

In the story, the beggar said it loud and clear that money does not equal to respect.

We are borne equal. Everybody can earn their respect regardless on their financial status. I am not the most handsome man or the richest man in the world but I do earn my share of respect from my friends, students, family members, business associates, readers and subscribers.

Even though money could not buy you respect, but in my humble opinion, it is not a bad thing either. Let me share one of my real life stories with you.

Though I am not a super rich guy yet, I do live in a pretty comfortable life where I can get all my necessities quite easily. In short, I’m doing okay financially.

Lately, I have a friend who is having some trouble in her life. Although it is not a serious problem, money, moral support, positive thought injections other forms of help seems to be able to solve most problems. Since she is a good friend of mine, I stepped in to give a hand spiritually, financially and plenty of time commitment. Not to buy a friend or to buy any respect from anybody. It’s just a pure sincere intention to help others.

As time goes by, problems arise. I began to hear things like:

• I’m trying to take advantage on people’s misfortunes.
• I’m trying to buy friend, love and respect with money.
• I’m helping others with some hidden bad intentions.
• And many more.

I don’t take those negative comments personally, of course because I know that

I have a choice.

Choice #1:

I can choose to conclude that being a good person to help others is bad, I should only mind my own business, never help people again and money is evil because it creates problem.

Or

Choice #2

I can choose to ignore those negative remarks and aware that only I and I alone can approve myself. Not others. What others think speaks volumes about themselves and had nothing to do with me. Helping others is my personal contribution to others and it not only helps me to satisfy my spiritual need but also helps to bring in more good karma.

I choose the later.

One choice makes me, the other, destroys me.

Moral of the story:

In life, we do not always have control over what’s going to happen to us. However, do not forget that we do always have the choice to choose how to react to the situation.

If you have been good to others and they are not grateful to you or backstabbed you in return, it’s their loss. Do your best and let god take care the rest.

Always respond to the situation with a thought that makes you a better person. Never respond with a thought that destroys you.

Life experience gives us lessons, not destruction. Nail it in your mind. Write it in BIG letters on a piece of paper and paste it on your wall if you have too.

Life is not about what’s happening to us. It’s about how we react to it.

No matter what happens to us, always attract the best with the Law of Attraction. Equip yourself with intense positive emotions and visualize the desired outcome. Now, the question is, how to increase your EQ? Let me bring you a story. There’s a woman who finds it hard to control her emotion and she gets angry easily even thought sometimes she knows that it’s really her fault.

So, she went to a temple to find an old monk to talk about her problem. Without saying a word, the monk locked her up in a small room. The woman was very angry and scolded the monk, “Hey you dirty monk! How can you do like this to me? You’d better let me know.”

She scolded, barked and screamed for a long time but the monk just ignored her.

Then the woman changed her attitude. She used the begging method. She begged the monk to let her go but the monk just pretend not to hear her.

After a long while, the woman calmed down. Then the monk came to ask the woman.

“Are you angry?”

“Yes! I am angry of myself. Why I am so stupid to come and ask for suffering here?” cried the woman

The monk shook his head and replied, “The people who can’t forgive themselves can not find their happiness.”

After a while, the woman sighed and said, “I’m not angry anymore because it doesn’t worth it.”

Again, the old monk gave his witty reply.

“Still considering whether it worth it or not means that you have not let go the anger.”

The sky is now getting darker and the temple become quieter. Only the sound of insects can be heard.

This woman slowly immersed herself in the calmness of the temple. The old monk appeared and before he had a chance to spit out a word, the woman asked him.

“Would you please tell me the meaning of angry, master?”

“It means punishing yourself for other people’s mistakes” replied the master happily.

Why am I so stupid?

Why I always meet the wrong guy?

What’s wrong with me?

Why I never learn?

Why am I so poor?

Those are some of the questions I often hear from others. Do you ask yourself the very same questions too? Or you ask yourself a better question? How do you feel when you ask yourself these questions?

When you put out a question, you’ll attract the answer. That’s the Law of Attraction.

Whatever question you ask to yourself, your brain will find you an answer because you attract it.

If you ask yourself a quality question, your brain will find you quality answer.

If you ask yourself a lousy question, your brain will find you lousy answer.

If you ask yourself a crappy question, your brain will find you crappy answer.

It’s that simple.

So, be careful of what you attract into your mind.

If you ask yourself, “What’s wrong with me?” Guess what? Your brain will find everything that’s wrong with you (even it’s not true sometimes). It doesn’t care whether the answer is correct or not. It just simply finds you the answer based on what you ask.

You get the answer because you attract it.

Now, what will that do to you? What will that do to your emotion? What will that do to your feeling? What will that do to your self-confidence? Think for a moment before you continue.

Let us change the perspective now.

What if you ask yourself, “How I can improve myself?”

When you begin to ask quality question, your brain will find or attract quality answer to you because that’s how it operates.

Your brain will begin to find ways for you to improve yourself.

Here’s another example from Robert Kiyosaki (This is my favorite example actually) in his book “Rich Dad Poor Dad”

Robert says, whenever his poor dad come across something that they want to buy, he’ll always say, “I can’t afford it” while his rich dad will always ask, “How can I afford it?”

Do you get what I mean here now? Both are facing the same situation BUT the way they react to the situation triggers different neurons in their brain and thus produce a totally different result which leads to the difference in the quality of their lives.

Here’s what I want you to do. Are you ready?

Ask yourself 5 quality questions everyday for the next 30 days and see how your brain begins to work differently.

Use the power of the Law of Attraction effectively!

I have an interesting story to share with you today.

There was a witch who lived in a black house in a forest. It was dark all over the house. The house looked dark from outside and inside. The kitchen, toilet, dining room, chairs, table and everything else were black in colour.

The witch has a black cat which she loved dearly. Things were always good except when the witch was sleepy, she’ll accidentally kick or step on her cat.

One day, the witch felt sleepy, accidentally stepped on her cat and fell down from stairs. She felt angry and quickly turn the cat green with her magic stick. Now. the witch can see the green cat easily at any corner of the house.

On the next day, the green cat ran to a field outside the house. Here’s where the problem comes. It’s quite hard to find a green cat in the green grass.

Then the witch turn the cat into a colourful cat. A cat with red head, yellow body, pink tail and purple legs. She’s satisfied with her new “decoration” because she can find her cat no matter where it is now.

However, the cat hated it very much. When it was turned green, it tried to run away from the house. Now, with a colourful body, it looks even worse and the birds on the tree couldn’t help but to laugh at the silly cat.

To express its dissatisfaction, the colourful cat hid itself in a hole and not even want to come out for any meal. The witch was worried and turn it back into a black cat as it was and made the house looked colourful.

The moral of the story, it’s much easier to change ourselves than to change others.

Many people I met recently care complaining about their financial status. Most people want to earn more, retire early but do nothing other than complaining.

There’s no use to complain about your boss not raising your salary so that you can go for a better vacation or government for not take enough care of you or the hiking price of oil and stuffs.

The better way would be change your job, change your spending habit or start investing.
