What an awesome idea! The guys continue their pattern of breaking down the fan/band barrier, and we think this is a fantastic way to do it! The Fading West tour is going to be one of the hottest tours around and giving the decision for where the tour will head straight to the fans is a great idea. What city will you be demanding?

The guys played a few shows last week and we’ve got all the details for you! Let’s start with the Fiction Family show in LA – Elaine sent us photos, a review and video:

I have a short review of the Fiction Family Concert at the Bootleg Theater in LA. As usual the guys gave a very lively and energinic show. The set list was Avalon, Just Rob Me, Give Me Back my Girl, Damaged, Not Sure, When She’s Near, We Ride, War in my Blood, Up Against the Wall, God Badge, and Heroes. The venue was very small and laid back. The stage wasn’t very well lit so pictures didn’t come out to well as I didn’t want to be annoying by using my flash!! They played God Badge and Sara Watkins joined them on stage to play the violin. Jon took the mic which was corded and ventured out into the crowd. Awesome as usual. It was a fun night.

Here is the set list for the KSBJ 30th Anniversary Concert in Houston on May 11th.

Started out with a preview of Fading West! Wow! It was epic. So looking forward to it. It is definitely something we’ve not seen before. Looks like a lot of fun, awesome surfing, great concert and behind the scenes, and more, but definitely a more personal look at the band as well. Really looks great and heartfelt. It was a nice surprise to get the preview! Awesome.

The rest went like this:

-This is Your Life – Jon went in the crowd during this song, borrowed someone’s hat and after the song said “I don’t want to be rude, whose hat did I steal” then tossed it back to then saying thank you
-Restless – still in the crowd for most of this song, but finished it up onstage

It’s been so much fun to see how much you all have been enjoying our “What’s The All-Time Fan Favorite Switchfoot Songs” Poll! The discussion in the comments has been intense and it’s interesting to see the different songs battle their way to the front of the pack. One fan, a numbers guy by the name of Jon, sent us the following:

As I’ve been eagerly following the polls, I’ve also been writing down how people vote—just because I’m weird like that.  I guess my baseball fandom has creeped into how much I enjoy statistics.  I shared this with the fellow boardmembers, and Alex (myswitchfeed) suggested I email you the excel worksheet of all the statistics and graphs I’ve made.  I’m sure you have all the raw data, but with these worksheets, you can more easily how many songs from what album made it into the finals, what was the least voted song of a given album (in either poll), what’s the difference between song #1 and song #2, how many more songs it takes for a given song to qualify to the next round, etc.

There are a lot of abbreviations on the headers of the charts (e.g.:  Diff = Difference, so DiffA=Difference Above—difference of votes between the given song and the song above the given song; DiffO=Difference One—Difference of votes between the given song and the leading song [song #1]; DiffQ= Difference Qualifier—Difference of votes between the given song and the lowest qualifying song; P1–V=Poll 1 votes; P1–P=Poll1 Percentage; P1/P2–VD=Poll 1 v.
