You probably already know that authors get all the attention. It’s because people innately trust authors. So if you are an expert in your niche, or if you are a business owner (which still makes you an expert) without a book, it’s time to write one. In fact, becoming an author is essential, and it should be moved off the “someday I’ll” list and onto the “Do it now” list.

Anything is easier when you have a system for writing a book, so that is what I am about to share with you. I’m giving you the “easy button” steps to write a book. And remember, you don’t have to write 300 or even 200 pages to be the author of a “real book.”

You are an expert in something (probably several “somethings”), and no doubt you know some of the insider strategies or shortcuts that people crave. Everyone wants the easy way, right? If you have ways to save someone time, make something simple, or improve results, you have the makings of a tips book.

The easy path is to write a “tips book.” This is simply a whole list of tips with a few paragraphs about each one. I’ll show you how, step by step, right now.

I’m going to give you a step by step guide for writing a book – your own tips book. But first, let me answer the single most common question people have.

“How many tips do I need in order to write a book?”

The answer is, “It’s up to you.” There is no Law written somewhere on stone tablets saying “this many pages maketh a book.” One of my books is 152 pages. Another is 32. They’re both books and they both make me officially “an author.”

There is no gold standard. Go to your favorite online bookseller and put “tips” into the search box and you will see that tips books come in all shapes and sizes. One author converted her weekly blog posts into a book with – you guessed it – 52 tips.

Example: A web designer could write a book with 77 little known ways to improve your website traffic in 5 minutes or less.A great free gift to go along with the tips and explanations would be a series of “before and after” screenshots for the reader to download.

Because . . . you have all the information you need already! There is no research. – It doesn’t take much time. You can write a tips book in a weekend if you wish. – When your book is done (which will happen in a very short amount of time), you will prove to yourself that you can write a book.

How to write your tips book, step by step:

1. Write the tips.

You decide whether to go low-tech or high-tech. Maybe you prefer a yellow pencil and thick pad of paper. Maybe you’re inclined toward index cards. Or maybe you want the “new-fangled” computer. You get to choose.

2. Write the tips book.

If you take a piece of paper and fold it in half the short way, imagine that each page has a tip at the top and a few paragraphs. That’s all you have to write. So you write the tip, leave some space, then craft the explanation. Tips are meant to be short, so don’t get carried away.

Insider writing secrets – Write to one person not to “you guys.” Only one person is reading the book. – Make sure you give your reader a reason to visit your website, such as a free downloadable gift. – The end of the book is the beginning of a relationship, so make an irresistible offer to your reader at the end of the book.

“Not even Sunday morning tickling sessions with Dad.  Tears started running down her cheeks. She didn’t understand – WHY?  Why did they have to leave??? They had everything before – their own house, a car, even a TV and a telephone – the only one in the village. They had it ALL and loads of friends and a loving family. Why change this for nothing?

“Now they only had this small, ugly attic room which served as home to all 3
of them. Not even a bathroom, just a sink and the toilet was 2 floors down.
Her Dad said it had to do. Maybe he didn’t mind so much. He was away all
week. He worked as a truck driver and only came home Friday night or
even Saturday morning and left again on Sunday. Maybe for him it was ok
but somehow she didn’t think so because there was no laughter when he
was at home and his nerves seemed frayed. And almost every Saturday he
took Mummy to the cinema. He said it was to let his little girl sleep. Why
couldn’t he understand that she would rather not sleep then be alone -
once again.

“Sometime she thought he did not love her anymore. How else could she
explain the harassed look on his face, their continuous arguments about her
education and about money. That definitely was a problem. There never
seemed to be enough of it. She knew it was the reason why they both
worked so much but she didn’t care. She wanted her life back, she wanted
her family and friends back.

“Today the little girl is an ‘big’ girl. Her name is Barbara and in this book you
will get to know her because the little girl was me. My parents escaped from
East Germany when I was 8. My father in the trunk of a car, my mother and
I through Berlin. We arrived in the West with just a small case and the
equivalent of 400 Dollars.

“In those days there was plenty of work but no housing. All large cities, were
the work was, had been bombed out during the war. It took my parents
almost 20 years of hard labor before they had again what we left behind in
Communist Germany but my father was convinced that it had been worth it.

You ARE your Message!

“Who you are speaks so loudly I cannot hear what you say.”

These are the words of Ralph Waldo Emerson, and perfectly echo the message of the Logical Soul(tm) – and that is that our speech comes from our conscious mind and mouth, whereas our complete MESSAGE comes from ALL  the different levels of our being!

Have you ever tried to get your message across numerous times . . . and got totally different results?
Have you ever felt like you are talking to someone who’s listening, but they aren’t hearing you?
Have you ever run or put up ads, articles, squeeze pages, sales pages, or blog posts . . . and gotten very little or NO responses??

Believe it or not, there is actually a very good – and logical – reason for this!

The former CEO of Teledyne Technologies, Robert Mehrabian, says that WHAT we communicate is based on the following factors:

• Our Words – what we actually say – accounts for a mere 7% of communication,
• Our Tone of voice – how we say it – accounts for 38%, and
• Our Non-verbal messages – what is seen – accounts for an incredible 55% of all communication.

Parents tell their children  “Do what I say, not what I do.”  But to a child, words are merely words. That’s it!  They will do what they see.  While parents are only trying to keep their kids from the same difficulties that they have endured, the actual message is this:  “I made (and are still making) my own mistakes, but you are not allowed to do this.”  Kids – being the automatic contrarians that they are – will  push the boundaries as far as they can and do the opposite of that – what they see their parents actually doing!

The messenger IS the message. You ARE your message. If you do live presentations, sales calls or video and try to hide your real message – or put up some kind of pretense – you will only send MIXED messages that people will automatically pick up on! The simple truth is this:  you can’t hide from the truth.

Let’s say you’re selling some kind of money-making program or network marketing business, and you want to use the latest in Internet marketing technology – Video.  Let’s even say you spend some money and get a high-quality video done.  The stated message (i.e., words) in this  work-from-home presentation might go something like this:

“I am rich, but not smarter than you.  See all the nice things, big cars, beautiful women, and nice homes I have?  This is all mine and I can show you how to have this as well! “

Now, if the program works and the speaker really believes in what he’s saying, the message will come across and sales will flourish.  The fact is, successful people attract more success, simply BECAUSE they are already successful!  The problems arise when those who are not YET successful start relying on affirmations, “faking it til you make it” schemes, and other approaches attempting to short-cut the process.

Let’s say that same speaker is mortgaged up to his eyeballs, has maxed out 15 credit cards, has just gone through a divorce, and hopes to make enough sales from his “Get Rich” program to make the next payment on his Jaguar.  Believe it or not, there are PLENTY of examples of this behavior out there if you care to check them out.

This person’s REAL message (the one that comes across in his tone and body language) will come across as this:

“I would love to be rich, but am scared silly I’m going to lose all my stuff.  I’m also hoping I’m a LOT smarter than you so I can convince you to buy something that obviously hasn’t yet worked for me…!”

Would you buy a get-rich program from this person? I wouldn’t.  Get the picture?

How much more refreshing would it be for this wannabe rich person to simply get in touch with his own hidden decisions, change them, and alter his message dramatically?  The words MUST match the message; otherwise you come across as superficial or fake.

Try this REAL message on for size:

“Hello.  I want to share something with you I think can make a difference in both our lives.  This product, “Get Rich in 5 Days,”  is something I just picked up and want to check out.  I’ve been told by some people I believe that it works just the way it states, but frankly I still have my doubts.  Obviously I’m probably like you, and not rich, but if you want to take this journey with me, I’d welcome the company!  There is a money-back guarantee, so I see it as a no-brainer, frankly.”

Would I buy from this person?  Maybe or maybe not.  But I would certainly become more intrigued, and would probably be tempted to “take the journey” with him just for the heck of it!

BE that message you want to impart. More people will believe you and even buy what you might be selling!
