This one was inspired by David Nightingale's Winter Lake. I still very much prefer his image to mine, just getting the colour palette right to make it look cold is quite tricky.

This was taken in Dulwich Park a week or so ago.

Well, I had to get a new image up and take my decorations down. It is the 12th day of Christmas and all.

This one was taken on Boxing Day in Kesley Park, Beckenham.

I thought I should post an image that was a little more Festive. I'd seen a few of this style knocking around on Flickr and thought I'd have a go at doing one myself.

The camera will be concentrating on family pictures from now until 2010!

Another from the the Vivienne Westwood designed windows at Selfridges in Oxford Street. I have no idea what this one was supposed to be, but she looked pretty creepy without all my tinkering with the image. It was the strewn bottles of Russian Ctahoapt vodka all around her that did it for me.

If you've not seen the Vivienne Westwood designed windows at Selfridges in Oxford Street you really need to.

This is just one of the many fairy tale themed sets with Vivienne's twist. Obviously, the Agent Provocateur lingerie clad mannequin was my favourite. I may post a few others.

Saint Mary Cathedral

This is Saint Mary Cathedral in Austin, Texas. It gave me another chance to step out of the torrential rain I experienced whilst there. I hovered for a moment outside with the camera, as there was a service about to start, but I was politely welcomed in and encouraged to take pictures.

And before anyone asks, this isn't a HDR it's just toned and sharpened in Lightroom and CS3.

This was taken whilst I was on holiday in France. Having spotted this barn across the road from where we were staying I snuck in one early morning as the sun was rising to get some shots. I had to slot the mini-tripod into a crack between two crumbling bricks to get the whole space into the frame.

The Texas State Capitol #2

I've spent the last week working in Austin, Texas. My second visit this year. I went on another photowalk yesterday and had to keep diving inside to avoid the thunderstorms. After about fifty straight days of temperatures of 100F I think everyone here is a little thankful for the rain.

This is the ceiling of The Texas State Capitol building that's right here. I took a photo of the outside previously, but this time I spent longer strolling around inside.

Everyone takes this shot, although I did do it with the camera lying on the floor and firing from a remote, which drew some stares.

Just a Giraffe

I've just returned from a week in France which was very enjoyable and well needed, but passed too quickly. I've got a bunch of images I'm happy with and will gradually post them here.

This one was taken on our trip to Chateau et Parc Zoologique de la Bourbansais in Pleugueuneuc. With all the cloud up in the sky and a bright sun I managed to over expose the background. After a little Lightroom & Photoshop tweak I now have one of my favourite animal shots.

Staying with the flower theme, because I seem to have taken quite a few flower pictures recently. This one is another from my trip to Blackgang Chine on the Isle of Wight.

I'll definitely be stopping to "smell the flowers" soon as I'm off on holiday again. Think I'll stay away from cliff edges this time though.

Annoyingly, Canon didn't announce anyhthing like the 60D (or will it be a 7D?) today, just a bunch of Powershot updates. Apparently we have to wait until 1st September for their next offering.

Bugger.

The Cosmos

I spent the day today walking around Wisley Gardens. This shot was taken just as we were leaving. I shot straight into the sun, as you can probably tell. This flower, the Cosmos was everywhere and it's gorgeous.

This was taken at The Garlic Farm, on the Isle of Wight, last week. If you ever get the chance, go, it's a wonderful place with a great cafe serving great cakes and a shop selling everything with garlic!

Having not had the camera out for some time, other than for kids birthday parties, I was reminded how much it is not like "riding a bike". I was flailing all over the place with under exposure, over exposure, forgetting to reset the ISO and generally not taking particularly good photos. Like anything, photography is something you have to continue to work at to produce good results. But at least with a digital camera you can flail around to your heart's content without it costing you anything but your time.

Having very little else to post recently I thought I'd change the aging Ferrari image to another Ferrari image, but with a little more colour this time. This is also the same car as in this image.
