Seriously, if I'm going to take a hiatus, I should just say, "I'm taking a hiatus." But I'm not. I'm always thinking about the thing that is this. It's just so weird.

Also, apologies about the editing not being tight at all. Windows Movie Maker doesn't really baby-help me along in making pretty video like Final Cut does. But I think this is kind of kind of a little interesting anyway. Maybe?

Here I am, breathing, thinking, thinking.

This is culled from a big one-sided conversation I had with my camera. It ended up feeling kind of like writing in a notebook, but I didn't get very far. Also, I was whiiinnnyyy on camera. I edited out the whine, or, most of it.

Breathing is maybe the smallest thing that is so important. It's like everything, cells, bones, synapses. Breath is huge because of its collected smallness. That is pretty easy.

The people footage (look at that man's eyes!) is from the home shopping network and C-Span. The dog footage is from the footage that came with the software bundle that came with my video camera. I used the software to make this video. I cried the whole way through.

I spent the day shooting video, looking at it crooked, and rethinking and overthinking, then decided to just make this tonight. Because today was the deadline.

This post serves as a reminder, a taste, a forced obligation. wuff.

It has been a while! Since I graduated from the fine university here in Iowa City, I've had trouble procuring a camera - I always used my student ID to check them out from the library on campus. Now, I have the option of being on a waiting list at the public library (and being fined thirty damn dollars if it's late!), taking up with public access, which might be all right, or getting my own. Since I've been working a lot, getting my own camera wouldn't be completely out of the question, though it's damn expensive. If you have any tips on a camera I should get (under eight hundred dollars please?), let me know. Until whenever, good day. I'll be back soonish. xo.

Susan is pretty much hilarious. She doesn't really care about the conversation going on about the TV show called The West Wing. Apparently Rob Lowe got hit. This is my project where I tried to exit my comfort zone, but I didn't... really... exit... my comfort zone... much. It was kind of meant to be a sequel to my modes project, which is at the bottom of the post - but it would take weeks of work and failure to do such a thing. I'm not ready for a capstone on this videoblog because um it is going to live forever.

Though this is my last school-sanctioned post, please keep looking at lookathing! Also, visit the "vlogging allstars" link to see how everyone else is doing with their business. Oh wow, all right.

This was the speedvlogging assignment, okay? We were told, "DO A WHOLE VIDEO IN TWO HOURS" and we three got together and ran around the town. The process involved something like a word association game, except we associated images and sounds instead of words. Sort of. So, "two hours" later, this is what we have.

Okay.

Even when I am stuck and I have no idea what to do and I am tired and the footage I have sucks and I'm stupidly working at home with Windows Movie Maker (duhhhhh), I am resolved to not let my videoblog become something that I stop caring about. Like, I will miss weeks, and I will have crappy things that I post just for the sake of posting, and I don't know, anything is possible... the point is that I keep it at least in the back of my mind. The point is that this is a pep talk to myself, trying to keep from becoming dispassionate about it. Because if there's one thing I love, it's plastering my shit all over the internet. I say that in the way that would once have been considered cold & heartless but is now something of an endearment. Everything shifts, moves around, changes, and this short video is a document of one night of change for this guy right here.

So, okay, Barak Obama is really smart. It's funny how a generic pep talk speech gets me all excited, but it did because of the seeming genuineness to it. It's pretty neat.

All the slow, scary business at the end isn't meant as a comment on the speakers or the party or anything, it's more like trying to kind of capture one sense of being in a crowd. I hope that's clear. I hope the election goes well. I guess by the time most of anybody sees this, it will all be over.
