Were you ever just sitting outside the pub, or in your house, and thought "I wish I could use an app of some kind to view photographs of Ireland as seen today on my new Android phone?" Well, now you can! Our new app will update with recently added photos every day on lookatireland.com as long as you are connected to the internet. It will also display prices in case you would like to visit the site later and purchase.

Note that you may need to modify your Android’s settings to allow the installation of applications from other sources. Under “Settings,” select “Application Settings” and then enable “Unknown Sources.” Alternatively, search for "Look At Ireland" in the Android Market.

Annagassan Viking Festival, Co. Louth

Lookatireland.com would like to make you aware of a very entertaining and fun filled festival which is taking place in Annagassan, Co. Louth from Friday the 5^th to Sunday the 7^th of August.

Annagassan has strong links to the Viking era and is said to be one of the first Viking settlements in Ireland. This was further proven on the recent discovery of a Viking longphort along the banks of river Glyde just outside the village of Annagassan.

The festival kicks off on the Friday night where a ‘Viking Fest’ will take place from 8pm. This is a ticket event with tickets priced at €15 which are available in Slans Pub, the Glyde Inn, Annagassan Post Office and from Tommy Mulroy (Tel. 086-0244997). There will be music on the night by Seamus and Clair McGreevy. A raffle will also be held on the night with some great prizes available. This is also a ‘Bring your own Drink’ event.

Then to help with the sore heads the next morning, on Saturday the 6^thof August there will be a 10k run at 11:00am starting from Dillonstown church. From there it goes into Annagassan, down along the strand, up Togher hill, turns left into Salterstown then back along coast road to finish at Slan’s. Those wishing to take part in this event can book through www.runireland.com. There is an entry fee of €15 in advance or €25 on the day. The winners prize is €200 and the first female and first male home thereafter will receive a years free membership of Felda Health Fitness and Leisure Centre in Dundalk.

All of us here at Look at Ireland.com would like to wish you a very Happy St. Patrick's Day. We are currently uploading photos to our new site so please keep a look out over the next few days for new photos. We are also doing our final preparations for tonight's taster photo exhibition/website launch in the restaurant area of The Glyde Inn, Annagassan. We currently have a few photos up already in The Glyde Inn so pop in and have a look throughout the day !! We will have pictures and postcards on sale at discounted rates from 8.30pm but we only have a limited amount so please be early to avoid disappointment. Anybody that buys a product will receive a certain number of raffle tickets in which we have three great prizes !! Prizes include a voucher for a weekend away in Carlingford, a voucher for a meal for two in Baltray Golf Club in Co. Louth and a voucher for The Glyde Inn, Annagassan. St. Patrick Day Event to put Louth on the National Event calendar

Over 100 leprechauns are set to abseil 170 ft down the Crowne Plaza hotel in Dundalk on Thursday 17th March 2011. The abseil, which is in aid of Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital for Sick Children and local charities will take place between 10.00am - 5.00pm on St. Patrick's Day.

The abseiling event is being organised in conjunction with The National Leprechaun Hunt that takes place 10 days later on Sunday March 27th on Slieve Foy Mountain Carlingford Co Louth. Thousands will descend on the mountain to hunt for leprechauns . Prospecting licences will be available at €5.00 and there is a cash prize for every one found. However, people are not allowed to capture any real leprechauns.
