The Lootlist project is growing. Thank you to all contributers and beta-tester for your ideas and feature requests! All major functions to organize the loot distribution are included by now. So it’s time to work on features for a more convenient usage.

Updates

Core files changed to support a Multi-User System. Instead of installing a copy of the lootlist for every guild, the database gets selected from the name of the subdomain (guildname) now and still uses the same files. This enhances the update/deployment process and new feature can be included a lot faster.

New Modal Window for distributing loot:

The field for the item name has an autocomplete search now. Inputs will be searched against the item_cache database for a faster selection. Works for german and english item names.

Item Distribution supports second Need Loot (N2) now. Second need is for item history purpose only and won’t change the list position.

Lootlist Overview

Player Overview

Admin functions are bundled in a dropdown menu to give space for more new features.

New functions to activate or disable all players in the lootlist.
This way you can quickly flush your list to speed up the initial raid setup.
Example: disable all players and activate the 10-player raid or activate all players and disable the ones who are not in the 25-player raid that evening.

Next steps

I am working on three milestones now:

multi-language support (not sure to use gettext or some smarty plugin)

Setup-Assistant and Guild-Admin Backend to give out more user invitations

Experimental: Import-Interface for CT-Raidtracker WoW Addon and EQDKP-Exports
(userlists, raidplaner, inGame Loot distribution and import afterwards)

I need your help

I would like to give 5 more guilds the opportunity to beta-test my system (for now). Please help me spread the word *kneel* *bow*

Beta-Testers should be willing to change their raid item distribution to the Lootlist Non-DKP System with a regular raid-schedule (2+ raids per week).

Our World of Warcraft guild Amentia is using the Lootlist Non-DKP System for more then 3 months now.

Our World of Warcraft guild Amentia is using the Lootlist Non-DKP System for more then 3 months now. Fixing bugs and stabilizing the system was my main task for the last couple of weeks but the feature-list keeps growing with a lot of ideas and user requests.

Right after starting the project I asked people via my blog and twitter to become Beta-Tester. I got a lot of emails and installed a few guild-pages. But beside our guild only one beta tester really implemented the system to their raidloot distribution. It looks like a lot of people think that “Beta testing” stands for “getting something new for free” instead of “helping to test out a new system” :-(

Active Lootlists

If you like to watch an active Lootlist, have a look at:
- Amentia Guild
- Hatari Guild

Updates

I am happy to announce some new features and updates

Players – manual positioning: If you change a list position as admin, the Lootlist will calculate all other players positions aswell.

Show/hide all players, who are not in the current raid. Better overview during loot distribution.

Delete Items and revert last known Lootlist position.

Checking the option “revert last known Lootlist position” the system will put the player back up to the last known position. This feature is important because of two major problems while distributing loot: a player claims the need too fast and wants to give it back or the lootmaster makes a mistake while selecting the player or the right lootlist.

Players with the status “inactive” are not shown anymore at the end of the list. This status is for players who either left the guild or who are inactive for quite some time. Of course you can delete those players (and their loot) but setting them as inactive keeps their loot in the history. I might include some sort of archive-function for the loot of deleted players.

There is a new list of all inactive (status) players in the admin panel. That way you can still delete the hidden players or watch their complete loot list

Conclusion

I have lots of fun on this project and I am very excited about what comes next.

Next steps:

multi-language support (any suggestions how to implement that?)

Sign-Up/Login System rather than new installs for each guild

a lot of little feature-requests

The Basics

In massive multiplayer online games like World of Warcraft, Aion or Lord of the Rings there is always something called “the endgame” where players group together (Raids) and battle against bigger computer enemies. Loot from these enemies is being distributed to the members of such a group/raid.

The Lootlist Non-DKP System provides a possible rule-set and an online tool for the loot distribution in regular groups (guilds, linkshells, etc.). The theoretical system behind Lootlist is also known as “Suicide Kings”.

Lootlist Non-DKP Key Features

A more fair loot system without point-battles and strategic “gaming the system” DKP

The first person who reports “need” in the list gets the item. This player is then pushed down to the end of the list.

All other active raid players get up by one position to fill the gap.

Only players who are online/inRaid during the loot distribution gain a higher position

Players, who are not online in this raid, stay at their position

So if you’ve got no time to play, you will stay at your position and won’t be pushed down.

Main need (even trials) before second need (second skilltree)

Members before trials

One Lootlist for normal loot, one Lootlist for special drops like weapons, tokens, tier-sets

Live example of the lootlist system: http://amentia.lootlist.net
