Para una noche de domingo, nada mejor que esta canción astromántica. Volvemos otra vez con colaboraciones entre artistas patrios. En esta ocasión me quedo con este baladón de Santi Balmes y Zahara. Apareció por vez primera en el álbum de Love Of Lesbian: Maniobras de escapismo (2005) y el dúo en el disco de Zahara, La fabulosa historia de… (2009).

Se me ponen los pelos de punta con la guitarra, la voz desgarrada de Santi y la melosidad de Zahara. Y me quedo sin duda con “Si tu magia ya no me hace efecto, ¿cómo voy a continuar?“. Qué duro es cuando la magia deja de hacer efecto…

Me escribía hoy Joaquín desde Ecuador indicando que ahora que ya han pasado por Silencio Lou Reed y David Bowie, cómo no iba a hacerlo el precursor del punk: Iggy Pop. Y yo que soy muy obediente (y tenía esta canción en los borradores esperando el momento adecuado para salir), no he esperado ni un minuto en publicarla. Por seguir enlazando unas melodías con otras, decir que en ésta colabora David Bowie en la música. Y siguiendo con canciones que han sido usadas en spots de televisión, me quedo con The Passenger, perteneciente al álbum Lust for Life (1977).

Al final todos somos pasajeros eternos de un viaje con la misma parada final. La cuestión es saber disfrutar de la travesía

P.D. ¿Soy la única a la que Iggy Pop le parece el calco con años de Anthony Kiedis (de los Red Hot)?

Gracias al blog bandalismo.net, me entero que dos grandes grupos de la escena independiente se han juntado en un estudio para aunar lo mejor de cada uno: por un lado, las chicas de Boat Beam (que ya se pasaron por aquí con su single debut, The Rain Pauly) y por otro los chicos de Havalina (que también se pasaron con su Noches sin dormir). Este Falling Over pertenece al disco debut de las primeras: Puzzle Shapes. Veremos que nos depara esta colaboración Boatlina

Primera aparición estelar del polifacético y ambiguo David Bowie en este blog (antes ya se había presentado en los coros). Y la canción seleccionada es Life On Mars?, de su álbum Hunky Dory (1971).

Treinta años después vuelve a estar en la picota por su aparición en la banda sonora de la serie homónima de la BBC y el acompañamiento de una campaña publicitaria televisiva de tarjetas de crédito. Una letra cargada de surrealismo (casi tanto como David) con referencias a Lennon, Mickey Mouse… y una carga extra de ironía: ¿os suenan los acordes al My Way de Frank Sinatra? En 1968, Bowie escribió en inglés la letra de una canción francesa titulada “Comme, D’Habitude“, llamando a su versión “Even a fool learns to love“. Nunca fue publicada, pero más tarde Paul Anka escuchó la original, compró sus derechos, y la reescribió titulándola “My way”. Qué puñetera es a veces la vida

Lou Reed – Walk On the Wild Side

Empezaremos este post con las excusas pertinentes por el largo silencio mantenido. Las razones son muy simples: llevo unas tres semanas ultimando el lanzamiento de un proyecto que hace que mi vida sea un auténtico “wild side” (en el ámbito laboral, porque lo que es el ocioso…). Así que nada más adecuada que esta melodía mitiquísima de Lou Reed (con uno de los estribillos más conocidos). Una oda a lo que muchos no se atrevían a cantar en aquella época (e incluso en ésta): la transexualidad, las drogas, los chaperos y el sexo oral, y el término “de color” para referirse a los afroamericanos.

El nombre de la canción está inspirada en una novela de Nelson Algren (A Walk on the Wild Side, 1956) y apareció por vez primera en su segundo disco en solitario: Transformer (1972). Fue producida por David Bowie, que hace los coros. Tiene infinidad de versiones, pero dejo de vuestra cuenta descubrirlas (y publicarlas en los comentarios ).

Qué abandonadito tengo esto últimamente… Intentaré enmendar la plana, pero no prometo nada, porque el mundo de la reunión constante se ha apoderado de mi vida laboral, lo que hace que llegue a casa fundida y con pocas ganas de encender un ordenador.

Tras el momento “excusa”, hoy toca canción movidita que no conocía (no soy muy pro-MGMT) pero que forma parte ya de mi banda sonora personal porque es la cabecera musical que han seleccionado para la sección “De las Ondas a la Red“, programa de radio en el que colaboro. Este Kids es el tercer single de su disco Oracular Spectacular. Como curiosidad de la melodía, el grupo tiene un contencioso con Nicolás Sarkozy, tras el uso de forma ilegal de la canción en una conferencia (ya sabéis, el precursor de ley Hadopi… en fin….).

Jueves. Rozando ya el fin de semana y con el cuerpo destrozado. Este mes está siendo muy duro (por trabajo, por incertidumbres varias, …). Así que intentaremos relajarnos con una balada post-grunge (ahí es nada…) de la mano de Fuel.

¿Fue esta canción una canción maldita? Me explico: en este videoclip podemos ver a Brett con su antigua nariz. Y es que el cantante sufrió un percance durante una actuación y se la rompió, tuviendo que ser operado y aprendiendo más tarde a cantar de nuevo. Ironías que tiene el destino . Más tarde, cuando Brett abandonó la banda y el resto de componentes estaban buscando un sustituto, escucharon a Chris Daughtry interpretar esta melodía en American Idol. Le ofrecieron ocupar el puesto de Brett, pero muy amablemente lo declinó.
