Desde que la escuché por vez primera, la tengo en modo bucle sin parar en mis reproductores y me ha costado horrores seleccionar una única canción para romper el silencio. Muy pegadizo el “Hearts A Mess” de Gotye (no puedo evitar ponerme a silbar el estribillo instrumental). La aportación de The xx está muy en su línea: tranquilito y orquestal. Escuchar algo nuevo de Florence + The Machine es siempre una alegría, pero si además en la edición deluxe de la banda sonora te aportan otra versión con SBTRKT, mejor que mejor. Lana Del Rey es muy Lana Del Rey con su single “Young and Beautiful“. También podemos encontrar una versión peculiar del “Back to Black” de la difunta Amy Winehouse perpetrada por Beyoncé y André 3000.

Pero finalmente me he decantado por esta canción de Sia por dos razones: la primera y más obvia, porque me ha gustado (aunque a veces la confundo con Lana Del Rey…); la segunda, porque me parece increíble que esta Midas de singles aún no se hubiera pasado por aquí. Habitual colaboradora de DJs y otras especies para poner voz a sus creaciones (David Guetta, Flo Rida, Afrojack, Shakira, Christina Aguilera, Rihanna, …) también sabe hacer perlas ella sola como es el caso de “Breathe Me”. Seguro que algún silencio más cae de su cuenta.

Discazo el que se acaban de sacar de la manga los getxotarras desde sus estudios El Tigre en Deusto: Day (2013). Y para estrenarlo por todo lo alto, canción pegadiza y psicodélica.

Atención a la portada del disco porque se trata de una obra de Joseph Wright (“Vesuvius in eruption”) cedida a la discográfica por la Tate Modern de Londres.

Para afrontar este medio verano que nos ha llegado sin avisar (y sin dejar a la primavera saludar), lo mejor es algo relajadito y con imágenes playeras aliñado con la voz de dos hermanas gemelas australianas emigradas a Suecia. Se hicieron famosas dejando esta canción en SoundCloud y consiguiendo un buen puñado de excepcionales remixes por parte de otros artistas. Y ya está… no tienen más. Un chicas de un único hit, por ahora .

Yo os dejo hoy la canción original. Por cierto, no intentéis buscar a las artistas por el nombre de Saint Lou Lou porque se lo han cambiado y ahora se llaman Say Lou Lou.

Aunque el último álbum de Bloc Party salió allá por agosto de 2012 (Four), recientemente acaban de estrenar videoclip para esta canción. “Un poco tarde, ¿no?” pensaréis. Pero es que hay gato encerrado: el 25 de febrero lanzarán un EP de nombre homónimo con remixes de Jerome LOL, A Chat y IO Echo. Por cierto, solo estará disponible en formato digital.

Rock británico de calidad… ¿en qué película ha podido salir? Un sugus al que lo acierte. Para ponéroslo más fácil, os haré otra pregunta que da aún más pistas: ¿qué director suele tener un gusto excelente para este tipo de música? Venga, no os hago sufrir más. El ínclito no es otro que Guy Ritchie, que es como el rey Midas de las bandas sonoras. Y la película, RocknRolla.

Pero esta canción ha aparecido en más espacios: desde el propio álbum de The Subways (Young For Eternity, 2005), hasta la serie de televisión The OC o los juegos Forza Horizon y FIFA Street 2.

De la letra de la canción, no se puede decir que sea más profunda que un charco, pero sí que cuenta con un estribillo pegadizo y unos guitarreos espectaculares. De las de subir el volumen a tope .

Y qué mejor que empezar con un clasicazo como es esta canción de Los Miserables, que ha saltado del teatro al cine. Escuchar esta melodía (o mejor dicho, “lamento optimista” ) te pone ya los pelos como escarpias. A mí, la última estrofa con ese giro de agonía me hace cantar a gritos.

Como ha habido tantas y tantas interpretaciones, se me hace difícil quedarme con una. La versión cinematográfica en la garganta de Anne Hathaway es correcta, pero no la mejor. Probablemente la más conocida sea la de Susan Boyle en su sorprendente participación en el programa Britain’s Got Talent donde demostró a todo el mundo que juzgar por las apariencias es un grave error. Incluso Aretha Franklin tiene su versión.

Pero yo me quedo con la de Ruthie Henshall, que estuvo en Londres interpretando a Fantine, una madre coraje que hará cualquier cosa para conseguir sustento para su hija Cosette. ¿Cuál es vuestra cover favorita?
