I’m back! Again. Hmmm . . . . Just not a prolific poster am I? Well, here’s take three. Or is it four? I don’t know. But hey! I’ll be starting my second year as an undergrad in a couple weeks. Which means yes, I did survive my first year of college! Whoohoo! What do I have to look forward to? Organic Chemistry, Plant Physiology, Psychology, Spanish and hopefully some lab work. Not quite so whoohoo now. But . . . I get to hang out with all my Honors Center buddies, which have so far made college the most enjoyable time in my entire school career.

I saw HP 6. As always, not happy with any changes from the book. I am happy about more Snape face time, but not happy because there could always be more . . . . Also, I think my mother is beginning to see what I see in him without any help. ROFL

Hoping to get into the lab for some experience this year, as I said. Dr. M is doing genetics work and I need to tell the Med School people I’ve done more than done my homework, occasionally studied, hung out in the HC and helped brush 100 rats’ teeth one time. Dang it.

The Play

I am not a blogger. If something happens to me, I don’t automatically think I’m going to write about that! I just don’t. I may think of it a few days or weeks later, but nothing is guaranteed. Well, the Sweeney Todd Broadway tour came through Wednesday and had a show. Of course I went. I even brought a friend and we headed over after our art class. I was very happy with the singing and music which would have probably made up for just about anything. The rest of the component s were rather new to me and took a little time to warm up to. First of all, Mrs. Lovett had a blonde pixie cut and wore a skirt ending well above her knees. This left me thinking What! But I eventually got over it. The entire play was in a very interesting format. The set was small and there were no scene changes. The cast was also only large enough to supply all the main characters, maybe 12 max. They all stayed onstage the entire time whether it was their scene or not because throughout the entire play, they were serving as their own orchestra!!! Yes, as everyone was acting and singing they were also playing an instrument 80% of the time! It did allow for a bit more comedy since during the scene near the end where Joanna is supposed to hide in the trunk in Sweeney’s parlor, the cello she is playing is needed for the scene. So instead of hiding in a trunk, she hides behind her cello while continuing to play it. There were also many conversations where the characters would talk and ‘interact’ with each other while facing different directions and in opposite ends of the set. This set off a few of those O-kaay moments before I got used to it. I did enjoy myself though, and so did my friend. You can see some of the scenes on their site here. I recommend checking it out.

I’m just hanging out, not doing anything for the moment. My school week’s over so I’m just crashed. And it’s only the first one! I should study a little biology. Or work on Spanish homework. Or finish my sad little rendition of Picaso’s Upsidedown Man. But I won’t at the moment. I’ve got time since we got the day of for MLK on Monday. Yay for 3-day weekends! I’m also counting the minutes until Sweeney Todd on Wednesday. I can’t wait! I bought the tickets as soon as they were available and still only got halfway back, but it’s ok since they were ALL gone by the end of the day, apparently. I also haven’t shown off my masterpiece of a gingerbread house I made in early December. Mind you, it’s my first one I’ve ever made! But I do decorate cakes so that’s what I credit for it’s success. Sorry for the pic quality, all I had was my phone.

I’m Making a What???!!!

Well apparently I’ve been unknowingly commissioned to make a WEDDING CAKE. Yeah. Wow. Ok. It’s for my mom’s co-worker’s daughter and I’ve already made her a big baby shower cake. It was 2 tiers with one (or two?) tiers on top of pillars with a bear on top. I’ll look for the picture and post it some time. I’m flattered that they thought of me and were impressed with my work. It was 5 years ago when I had just turned 14. The main issue I have is that I have NO idea when this wedding might be and I have school! I’m just hoping it’s a late spring or summer one because I have no time right now even though I’m actually rather excited about it when I get over the trauma of 250 people judging my cake. I’ll let you know what the heck is going on as soon as I do.

On another note, the weather SUCKS and my school almost never closes.

The last time was two years ago and even that was the first time in 17 years. It would have to be a full blown emergency blizzard. With a tornado. And at least one and a half buildings must have already been destroyed. The campus must also be suffuring from radiation exposure. Even then the will calculate the half life to see if we could fit in an exam or two before we’re killed. ‘Sure, class! We can study isotopes today!’

I also got a mild case of frostbite today! It’s been in the single digits all day with some seriously intense wind. All I did was walk out to my car to get my art supplies and back into the building (I had even parked in the closer lot!) I had forgotten my gloves at home and by the time those maybe 5 to 8 minutes had passed, my hands were cherry red and numb. As they warmed up inside they began to burn like they were on fire!!! Then the bases of my smallest fingers swelled up quite a bit for about an hour and a half. They’re fine now even though the previously swollen areas are slightly sensitive and both hands are now very sensitive to the cold in general. I’ll just have to baby them for a while. So hmm, yeah. Going to bed now. I have to get up for class and tomorrow is going to be SO much colder than today.

Well, I’ve purchased all my books for this next semester of college. How much did I spend? Will I be spending the next 3 days rocking back and forth huddled in a corner while cradling my wounded debit card? Are my new textbooks going to mock me every time I open their evil pages? Not really. I was really surprised and happy with this semester’s haul. Since I’ve already sold my left kidney to buy last semester’s biology and chemistry books (and I’m really very fond of my right one) I don’t need to buy as much this time around. The verdict? BabaBUM! . .. . . . $316.25!!! That may not seem so little but I’d spent a good $700 last trip to the dreaded bookstore. As a treat, I bought myself a new book to read: Roma – The Novel of Ancient Rome by Steven Saylor. It sounded good, so it’d better be!

*No kidneys were harmed in the purchase of these books

I’ll have to dust off the cobwebs around here or something. Well, last time I wrote was at the beginning of my first semester of college and I’ve now been out of it for two weeks. It definitely had its ups and downs but I prefer it over high school. I also made more friends much more quickly than I previously had before and they’re just great.

I guess the real reason I’m writing now is because it’s 4:25 am. While that’s not a reason to be writing in and of itself, if you knew how my last two weeks of winter vacation had gone you wouldn’t be surprised. Lately I’ve totally rearranged my sleeping patterns to be awake at night. I’m not sure why, I just prefer night when everyone else is sleeping. I’ve also been feeling very depressed and could not find anything to do. So, I’d just end up falling asleep again to kill time. When I’m awake I just tend to feel completely drained and empty, punctuated by almost frantic bouts of looking for something new and interesting around the house or on the internet.

My Christmas was horrible as well. They’ve been going down hill since I was five since my father’s a very grouchy anti-holiday person. But this year topped it. Everyone knew not to expect much of anything because our parents were saving up their money, but my dad felt everyone needed a present anyway. My sister received a very nice Wacom tablet and my brother received this welding set thing. He then preceded to give me a $20 Walmart giftcard. I’m not sure if he was running out of gift ideas for his “w” theme or if it’s just another example of how much he dislikes me. He’s also seen fit to argue with me over nonsensical things all break which gives me another reason to avoid human contact during the day. If it’s not his arguing with me, it’s my mother complaining about him and his spending patterns. Then my siblings usually see fit to fray my already damaged nerves.

I’ve also just felt so crummy. I should get out and do something but other than going out shopping with my new’ish’ girl friends AD and NF, I just cant convince myself I want to do anything. I’ve been desperately searching for some HGSS fic to read but I just can’t find any well-written new ones. There are some WIPs, but I prefer to wait until they’re at least mostly finished. They all seem so mushy anymore, too. I prefer the super canon, insanely intense angst, avoiding each other at all costs, then all hell breaks lose leaving you saying “Holy crap!” once that pivotal scene is reached. Yeah. We need more of them. Too bad I’m too left brained for a good writer’s imagination. I have imagination, I can think of an awesome story, I’m just no good at digging below the surface and making it just that, a story. I’m terrible with the little details that make a story interesting, especially small-talk dialogue.

Well the only thing I’m really looking forward too for like the next three years as of now seems to be Sweeney Todd coming to Ft. Wayne. I absolutely love Sweeney Todd, adore the Sweeney Todd Concert w/ Hearn and LuPone, accept the movie due to Depp’s great acting and Rickman’s mere existence, and am very curious to see the actual play. I just hope I’m not disappointed like I was during the movie to hear Carter’s Mrs Lovett. That will most likely make or break it for me. The characterization was all wrong and the definition of Mrs. Lovett, to me, is Patti Lupone’s version.

If you’ve even managed to read all this drivel, congratulations. You deserve a big, shiny medal of some sort. Unfortunately, I don’t have any in stock at the moment, so you’ll have to make due with an imaginary one. The last thing I’m sure anyone wants to read is more self deprecating musings on my self deprecating thoughts. But that’s how it is, I guess, and I do feel infinitesimally better for my mini rant because it would surely be welcome no where else. So ends my longest post in history. Happy freaking New Year.

School’s coming up the 25th and I’m almost ready. I got some of my books at the campus bookstore and it wasn’t that pleasant. They only had about a quarter of my books in yet so I went ahead and bought what they had. It turned out to be about $350 but I have about $400 worth on back order. Eep! The woman behind the counter was rather rude as well. One of the books the younger lady had given me didn’t have a rubber band on, and apparently that’s important for some reason? So, I had to go back to get another while the woman waited and apparently repeated things like Where is she? What is she doing? I’m not an idiot, I just walked to the back of the store to get my book, as she told me to! I couldn’t recognize her accent.

Getting past that experience (I’m ordering over the computer from now on. lol) I’m slowly accumulating all my fun little gadgets. I’ve had my cell phone for awhile, which I never use because I’m antisocial or something. lol I’ve gotten a new Ipod classic earlier this summer to replace the one that died last winter. Then, Tuesday I got my great new Palm TX for scheduling and assignments. Plus I need some entertainment for that awful 5 hour gap between classes when I don’t want to waste gas coming home for such a short time. My case should be coming soon so I may post a picture then.

I’m going up to Michigan this weekend to stay in our RV. I haven’t been to our new campground yet, even though we’ve been there almost a year now. My family usually goes every few weeks, but I’ve been staying home. Might as well start getting ready now since we’ll be leaving in a few hours. I’m bringing Lotus Wood to work on.

This is the first time I’ve had much to say on a post. Usually I’m very concise, but maybe I’m just adapting to blogging. Don’t get too used to it.

I started my HAED pattern yesterday. I’m really excited about the whole thing. It’ll take me forever, but I think I’ll finish it. We’ll see how much I get done this summer with college looming in a month. Here’s my first day’s work. 28ct 2×1
