Ah yes, it feels good to be back in LOTRO. And how better to come back then to create another outfit for my Ranger/Hunter line of fashion.

I have crafted several outfits to blend in with my surroundings and on one occasion while searching out some ideal locales for backgrounds I had noted I was traveling by night. Well, per usual I was about to wait for daylight when it dawned on me…(no pun intended. lol), A hunter at night would be a great addition to my line of outfits.

This was awhile ago and I had yet to begin. My inspiration came when I happened across a picture of some manner of stealthy ninja/hunter. I noted the color of his garb and the style of his chest which was sleeveless, something I had not tried before. In warmer climes, a hunter would be inclined to wear a simpler outfit, and sleeveless would be less cumbersome than most other robes and hauberks. A mask, to hide the lighter colored skin that may reflect the moonlight to his disadvantage. Soft leather boots, to keep the sound of his footsteps very low. Various blades on his gloves and chest for when the combat was too close for his bow. If perchance the risk of being spotted was high, he would need to stop suddenly, a cloak waving in the wind at his sudden stop might attract attention. In place of a cloak, he wears an elven quiver. The color for a hunter on a nightly mission would be subtle grays, blacks and dark blues. Shadows would dance across his outfit, breaking up his outline, giving him better concealment. Avoiding the main roads, he would choose the wild hidden paths of the forests, or perhaps…..fog covered riverbeds. This would be no ordinary hunter, or ranger on a long journey….this is an assassin.

This Hobbit farmer is out enjoying the day. He has a tune in his step as he walks around his farm in his cowboy boots.

The hardest part of putting this outfit together had to be the boots. Nothing seemed to look right. I was just about to let him go bare foot when I discovered the Lesser Arrow of the West Boots. To me they look like cowboy boots. Perfect for what I had in mind! You can barter for these boots in Harndirion or there is a ceremonial version in Lalia’s market.

This outfit has been inspired by two things. The first is my Elf Rune-Keeper, Kestrial, has been questing in Rohan and needed a new adventuring outfit for the region. Rohan is a kingdom of Men and my Elf is an Outlander here. Although the work that needs to be done here effects all of Middle Earth and the people of Rohan have been grateful for my assistance.

This chest piece was a quest reward I picked up upon first crossing into Western Rohan. I really loved the leather on it and I loved how the dyeable part was the shirt underneath. I began playing around with how it looked with the different leg pieces I had in my wardrobe.

I paired it with Tavol-Socas, a very unique looking pair of leggings that drops from Isengard Instances. I worked around the strip of red that does not dye on these pants by dying the shoulders a red color.

I originally found these shoulders off of the Ministrel Trainer in the Ettenmoors but they have been removed from the game. There are alternative ways to get them though. If you are a light armor wearer you have a chance of finding them from Hobbit Presents. They can sometimes be found in Lalia’s market.

From there I began playing around with different dye colors that would go well with the red and went with Steel Blue. This is the first outfit I am using the new dye color, Steel Blue, in.

The second inspiration for this outfit…..and please all you avid Lord of the Rings fans please forgive me, was my excitement over one of my favorite books being made into a T.V. series. Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander has come to the screen and I am so very excited!

If you add the Sage’s Pack, a cosmetic backpack from the Lotro Store, this outfit transforms into Claire Elizabeth Beauchamp Randall Fraser. The heroine in the Outlander book series.

If you are not a fan of the books then please disregard my second inspiration for this outfit and focus on my first. haha!

I have always wished there were more plate looking armour options in the game. A lot of times the heavy armour pieces seem to look more cloth or leathery to me.

Today’s outfit is an attempt at a shiny steel plate look.

The last time I put an outfit together for this blog I had been trying to complete this plate outfit. I was only missing the perfect shoulders. Update 14 offered me just the right piece to complete this look. The shoulders from the Heavy Nadhin set were just what I had been looking for.

Kedwyr started leveling his Hunter to 100 after the new update came out. Watching him I was reminded how much I truly love this game. I personally don’t have any desire to quest and level or figure out my class traits ect… But I have enjoyed spending time at the Summer festival and just being in Middle Earth.

Today is my Birthday and one of the ways I am celebrating is to give my character Devonna a new outfit. I love making outfits for her because female Hobbits in Lotro are so cute!

If you couldn’t tell by the title and pictures, this is a Burglar outfit. A Cat Burglar is a burglar who breaks into buildings by climbing through upstairs windows, across roofs, etc.

My idea of a Burglar outfit is something that is easy to sneak around in. Something that is dark in color, made of lightweight and silent materials and gives you the freedom to be agile in your movements.

This outfit started when I began to play with my masked hood collection. Lotro has several options for masked hoods. This one, Thrill-Seeker’s Helm, is my all time favorite. It’s from The Rift raid. Thankfully Turbine has made it very easy to acquire without forming up a raid to venture into the Rift. You can barter for this using medallions and marks at a cosmetic vendor at any Skirmish Camp.

This outfit also has a handy loot bag for all her treasure’s she pilfers. The Treasure Hunter’s Rucksack is a reward from The treasure Hunter’s Event. The Treasure Hunt (or Buried Treasure) event is a Special Event at the Treasure Field Base Camp in Ered Luin where players can dig for buried treasure. This event is not tied to any seasonal festival but will appear randomly throughout the year.

Last night I finally completed the deed “The More The Merrier Tier 3” and was able to purchase the Wintertide Caparison warsteed cosmetic. I found just the right warsteed appearance to showcase the Caparison and all I needed was the perfect outfit for my rider.

Instead of matching my Warsteed, I created something entirely different. The pieces fell together rather effortlessly and I was happily surprised with the outcome. It wasn’t what I had started out to create but I love the finished product.

I won this cloak in a Sack of Presents from the quest: Yule Festival (Daily). To be honest I didn’t think I’d ever use it. It’s not really my style. I love being proven wrong. This cloak just needs the right outfit to make it work. A cloak I expected to gather dust in my wardrobe is now being worn by my Rune-Keeper as her winter outfit.

Keep a lookout for my Wintertide Caparison outfit. I have the basic idea, I just need to find a few more perfect pieces.

Ked and I had the pleasure of attending a Yule concert tonight put on by a local Landroval band. The music was wonderful and the crowd and band were smartly dressed. Of course Ked and I had to dress up too and we decided to match our outfits for the occasion.

The terrific band that entertained us tonight was from the kinship “Animal House”. They play in front of the Prancing Pony every Saturday night from 9-12 pm.

Tauriel is a fictional character from the movie The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. The character does not appear in the original book, but was created as an expansion of material adapted from the book.

Upon first hearing that Peter Jackson would be adding a character to the movie that was not originally in the book I was disappointed. However, after watching the movie I have to admit I love her. Her character was a truly wonderful addition to the film.

This outfit is inspired by Tauriel. With Lotro’s limitations I could not get her outfit to match perfectly but this is my interpretation of her outfit from the movie. Well, one of her outfits from the movie. She had several she wore.

I had first wanted to use the leggings, Tavol-Socas. They are an actual skirt over pants that fits Tauriel’s outfit in the movie. Unfortunately those legs have a red border at the edge that can not be dyed. I instead went with the Lore-Keeper’s Trousers. They dye beautifully and has a somewhat skirt type silhouette.

The movie outfit also had Tauriel’s quiver at her waist. Lotro only offers quivers as a back slot item.
