WebSphere Portal and IBM’s Exceptional Web Experience solutions have been the
market leader in web experience for more than a decade. IBM Worklight is a new,
complete mobile enterprise application platform for delivering native, hybrid, and

Building on Part 6 of this series on integrating IBM® WebSphere® Portal with IBM Worklight®, this article explains how you can leverage web content meta data and dynamic rules running inside of IBM WebSphere Portal and IBM Web Content Manager in an IBM Worklight mobile application. By leveraging the rules defined in Web Content Manager, you have one central place where business users and marketers can define promotions, and other dynamic and personalized content. This retail store example shows how you can combine the native geo-location feature of a mobile device with Web Content Manager's dynamic personalization rules that offer content based on the current user's context, location, or history. This opens up the possibility of a whole new set of applications that can be implemented using Worklight and Web Content Manager together, while
keeping the content, its meta data, and the rules stored in Web Content Manager.

IBM Worklight enable enterprises to create Worklight applications capable of
automatically logging a user in upon startup, while also using single sign-on
(SSO) to log the user into a WebSphere Portal server on the same host at the
same time. This makes it easy for mobile apps to display portal pages

Articles: A lightweight framework to track and manage IBM Sametime client plug-ins

It sometimes makes sense to leave users completely in charge of their workstations, giving them complete latitude on installation and product and software versions. However, it can turn into an IT administration headache when direct management is required, for example, to make sure that a certain component has been brought to a required service-pack level to ensure compatibility with a company server.
This is particularly true for modular client software such the IBM® Sametime® client which, through its underlying Eclipse and Lotus® Expeditor platform, offers infinite customization possibilities through the addition of new plug-ins or extension of existing ones.
To mitigate this problem, this article describes and implements a lightweight and extensible framework to track and manage the configuration information of the Sametime client and plug-ins inside an organization.

Articles: Innovations within reach: Using WebSphere eXtreme Scale to enhance WebSphere Portal and IBM Web
            Content Manager performance

IBM Web Content Manager in IBM WebSphere Portal can make
use of dynacache instances to store rendered content retrieved from Web
Content Manager when advanced caching is enabled. This caching improves
response time and reduces load on the database. WebSphere eXtreme Scale and
the XC10 caching appliance offers an implementation of dynacache that stores cached content in an elastic data grid instead of using the default dynacache implementation, which stores cached content in IBM WebSphere Application Server heap space or on disk. This article examines the significant performance benefits of moving the WebSphere Portal advanced cache content into a data grid hosted by an XC10 caching appliance without requiring any application code changes.
