If you were following me on Twitter (and why the heck wouldn't you?) then you know we had a bit of sad time in the fam... Kimberly's grandma died last week, so we drove from DC to Oklahoma and back. I've been a bunch of times before, but never the full-blown 2400-mile roundtrip roadie. It was a heck of a time. Here's some cool pics and vids from the adventure this week!

I decided to go a little more silver and honolulu blue in honor of Detroit's suckier team in an attempt to reverse whammie the sports karma and get a second Cup to the Wings. Greetings and salutations, yo.

Kimberly's a big yoga person and they have this thing called "downward-facing dog" which looks more like me stretching, but whatevs. I enjoy watching humans approximate it... and they do it every May for our viewing enjoyment with pups in tow. I've posted about doga in past years ('05, '06, '07, and '08) before... it's baAAAAaaack!

Mark it down: May 16th, all canines invited (yeah, even puggles). Let's show these people how downward-facing dog is really done. Added incentive... they bring out this dog baker (not a baker of dogs, but a baker of dog goodies: important distinction) so there's free t-r-e-a-t's for us. Here's the scoop:

Tim is watching the basketball game... it appears the state of Michigan is not getting good news tonight as North Carolina is making them look like Tim's CYO basketball team circa sophomore year (I won't mention he rode pretty deep on the bench... oh wait, I just did...)

Tim's been busy rehabbing his new cabin in West Virginia, so I've been able to go out and run around the land a bunch lately. Sounds like we may be going out there a lot starting this summer, so I'm pretty psyched. The other day I got to bark at wild turkeys. Wild turkeys! who knew they made em that way? The only way this city dog ever sees a turkey usually is at Thanksgiving and they look waaaaaaay different.

Introducing the unholy alliance of puggle and Louis the Pug. Allow me to explain.

A wise man... or at least a man... once suggested that the enemy of my enemy is my friend. Well, puggles are my enemy... we've established that. But ticks, as we have learned (check out my Twitter feed for the news... I gots me the bacteria that cause Lyme Disease in me) are the enemy of me AND my enemy. Simple tautology, yo... me and the puggles are allied against these freaks:

Now... let me see if I can explain this all to the puggles... verrrrrrry... slllllllowwwwwly. (they ain't bright).

dateline ltp: santa escapes my grasp

We went to the Philip Carter winery yesterday... Kimberly said there was a "Santa Buffet" which we interpreted as the presence of the old tubby elf. I felt it was another excellent opportunity for me to continue my investigation into the questionable activities of one Kris "I like to break into your house in the wee hours" Kringle.

Only, he either got wise to my presence and fled ahead of time or "Santa Buffet" just meant a spread of food during Christmas time. One of the two.

Anyways, we still managed to have a fun time. Tim and Kimberly got some wine and cheese and I managed to play with some of the other dogs (pet friendly winery!!) and snag some cheese and crackers from my peeps. All in all an excellent time.

Off to Oklahoma on Wednesday... I think I may get another crack at exposing Santa there. As we always say on LTP Investigates... "We'll be watching..."

Worm update: I just finished my second round of medicine last night, so Tim and Kimberly get to take a stool to the vet. I never understood how taking a small three-legged chair to the vet would tell them what was in my poo, but I don't understand a lot of things about the v-e-t.

dateline ltp: kris kringle - danger to society?

Two years ago, I began a hard-nosed investigative journalistic expose on one Tipsy McDrinksalot, AKA "Santa Claus" AKA "Kris Kringle." The results were inconclusive. This year... I intend to bring the fat man down.

Put aside Christmas and the whole generosity angle for a second and ask yourself this... a rotund "elf" (who happens to be human sized) breaks into your house well after everyone is asleep. He enters the house generally through the chimney or perhaps even by walking through walls. In any event, the man has no key. He is dressed from head to toe in velvet and drives a vehicle pulled by rabid deer. Reindeer. Whatever. He has an expectation that you, the home owner, will leave him food... sometimes sugary, and often with a touch of the hard stuff (um, hello eggnog?).

Now, my dear readers I ask you this... if the date on the calendar is August 15th and you encountered this gentleman in your home, would you chalk it up as a holiday miracle, or would you call 9-frickin-1-1?

Exactly. Call this pug a littlle cynical, but I'm not buying the whole thing. Furthermore, with several trillion cups of eggnog in his belly, I'm guessing Santa's blowing a breathalyzer WELL above legal flying limits, thereby putting our entire North American airspace in great jeopardy.

People... this is serious. I began my investigation yesterday at Bloomingdales. They had Santa there taking pics with dogs for a Humane Society event. The perfect cover - I had my undercover team snap the shot you see above. Although Santa seems to look different than last we met (strangely so, in fact... it was like they were two different people: clearly he's a master of disguise) I could tell there was something not quite right.

Of course, he's smart this Claus guy. No sudden movements. He petted me right. Gave me a treat. Hmmm... he's a shifty one that Kris Kringle. I'll keep my eyes locked on you buddy...

It was cold in DC this week... like freezing cold. Now, for those of us who are from the hinterlands of western NY, we're used to it. And frankly, being a pug... it's much easier to breathe in the cold than in the hot. So, I go out sans sweater to play ball even when it's in the mid 30's (or in the single digits for all you metric fans out there).

Quick update on my worms... I think I have em licked. I hear muttering about another round of medicine in 2 weeks to get larvae, whatever the heck they are... and I have to say I welcome it. In order to take this medicine, I need to have the powder sprinkled on wet food. I don't normally get wet food, so basically Tim just poured gravy over the muffins he bakes me. So, I might just have to get hookworms all the time, 'cause I love me some gravy, yo!

So, that's the scoop. A lot of people wonder if I'm going to be out for the inauguration next month, but I don't do crowds all that well, so I think I'll kick it with tim and kimberly at the studio and watch on the tv. I'm still hoping the dog they get over at 1600 Pennsylvania is someone I can roll with. We DC dogs need to stick together...

So, I got real sick the other night. I actually passed out and had a mini seizure or something... it was pretty whack. Tim carried me inside and then I felt a rumble in the breadbasket... I hurled out some mean looking black stuff, but was a little better after that. Then about 4 am I did it again... off to the V-E-T!

We get there and the lucky folks there got to rummage in my hurl and poop. Best... job... ever. Anyways, they see no blood in it (I coulda told em that) and since I was all peppy and happy at that point, they let me go. Well, not before taking my temperature, and let's just say they must have left the oral thermometer on another desk. Yikes.

So, yesterday Tim and Kimberly get a call saying the results were in... I, Louis the Pug, have hookworm. Sooooo... I get 3 days of deworming medicine (not tasty) in my food (upgraded to mask said untasty medicine). Then we go 3 weeks, then we do the 3 day treatment again. Then the V-E-T gets to look at more of my poop.

Guess that monthly worm prevention pill took a month off, eh?

None of this explains my fainting episode though. I think it's because I'm so ripped and pumped muscularly that there isn't enough blood in my body to get to the brain from time to time... bam! Fainting!

You know what else causes fainting? The awesomeness of my hockey teams... both the Sabres and Wings won tonight as I convalesced. That's fancy talk for getting better, yo...

My dog playgroup guy said I was a little high maintenance this week... I almost got fired, yo. I don't see it.

I hear I'll be getting a new neighbor down on Pennsylvania and 16th... and they'll be bringing along a new dog too! Perhaps he or she (paws crossed for a girl dog! va va va voom!) might have a slightly better temper than the current resident... check out the fangs, yo!

Seriously though, I think Barney's pretty funny. I also think he's a bit cranky that the moment DC is about to get a shot of adrenaline, he's been informed that he'll be moving to west Texas. Nothing against west Texas, mind you... but I don't think there's many decent gourmet organic pet food establishments in Crawford.

Anyways, on behalf of the DC establishment of pooches, best of luck to Barney the fierce and a welcome to the future new dog in the big white house down the block...

So, it's been a while since I posted... I could go into all of the reasons why (international intrigue, massive economic collapse impacting Louis the Pug Industries, followed by a rebound and the acquisition of the other 2/3 of the Fortune 500, and... of course, a brief stay in the gray bar motel) but that might be telling too much.

Instead, let me tell you about 2 cool new things on this, the day after my fourth burfday.

(1) I got to hang out on a Caterpillar, thereby enhancing my love of commercial demolition equipment, and

(2) Tim just pulled a huge friggin tick out of my skull.

The first is self-explanatory. The second is worth describing. Man, they are guh-ROSS! I got it during cabin week in WV... I think it might have a pint and a half of LTP goodness in its gullet. Tim did a lookup and it's not a deer tick or anything else that could do some harm to yours truly. He did slather about 5 gallons of antibiotic ointment on it now, which makes my fur look all spikey and stuff. Who knew triple antibiotic ointment was a proper substitute for haircare product?

Anyways, the tick's in a plastic bag so I can taunt it. And if that's not a burfday present, I don't know what is...

Oh yeah... hockey season kicked off too. Oh, and the Bills are playing really good for the first time in my life. The gifts keep coming, yo!

we're rockin' New England this weekend... Kimberly is doing some yoga thing so Tim and I are hitting the road. I've never been to Vermont before, so we are rolling through the southern part of the state, checking in on the Bennington garlic festival and enjoying the cool gray weather. We might head back to Mass. for a nap later... All this travel wears me out, yo!!

I went to the groomer yesterday and got all spiffied up. They took some trimmers "down there" so, yes once again I have been manscaped. Or pugscaped. It was good, because I ran into a nice looking fawn pug this morning while on a walk, so I was able to put my best paw forward. Always good to look good...

Tim and Kimberly are working like dogs lately (no pun intended). They get to go to the beach on Monday, but I have to stay home because the beach is totally dogist. Then again, the beach is also about a kajillion degrees with no shade, so maybe I'll just do my regular Happy Pack walk and chill in the AC.

This Thursday we trek up to western Massachusetts - Kimberly's doing some yoga thing with some old teacher dude, and Tim... well, Tim's driving. Looks like some hikes in the Berkshires!

I'd do yoga too, except it might make my body totally more ripped and cut. There's a point where you can't improve upon physical perfection, and I'm humble enough to not want to show up others even more than I do. Namaste.

whassup yo? I've been out and about and blogging has suffered. Mea culpa, blah blah blah.

Tim and Kimberly went to California for a week so I hung with Juan for a while. It was super fun. I'm doing a lot of dog park stuff during the week days, enjoying the weather. It's pretty hot out, but not so hot I can't go running by the water. Always nice to cool off in the creek!

Kimberly goes off to Massachusetts next week, so it's bachelor time starting Sunday night. Arrrrooooooowwwwww! Love the boys nights out (although I think Tim already has 2 movies lined up that Kimberly's not interested in seeing... seems I won't be able to join for that. Burf!)

I think Tim takes this same shot every year. That's Kimberly leading a yoga class that benefits my canine peeps and their friends at Washington Humane Society. Doga is dogs and yoga combined... you can see some hot little poodles in the background. I say hot not because they're va-va-va-voom so much as it was a kajillion degrees this morning. Still, we had an awesome turnout and WHS made a nice haul. This is when I have to say Kimberly is super awesome for giving back to the dog community.
