Now inside Scenic World while waiting for the Scenic Railway, we see the following :

Haaa Dear’s right to a certain extent cos YES, they’re Roller Coaster Tracks which I didnt believe as they seem too scary just by looking at the them descending all the way from up here into the deep Rainforested Mountain!!!!!!!!!!

Well, it’s called the Orphan Rocker Roller Coaster (named after nearby Orphan Rock!!) – built by Scenic World beginning 1984 – the 1st Roller Coaster to be completely designed & manufactured in Australia.

It was referred to as a “Sitdown Suspended” Coaster, though it can tilt from side to side like a Suspended Coaster, with a ride around the grounds with a few steeply banked corners, & its highlight of plunging into a penisula, with Cliffs on 3 sides, making a steeply U-turn at the edge of the Cliff!! We’re talking about a 200m fall into Jamison Valley here!! Haaaa would you dare try it?!?! At least NOT for me someone with Heights phobia Errr!!    

So originally planned as a Scenic Monorail Ride, it soon evolved into a Roller Coaster Ride.  But due to rumours & criticism & controversies over its existance, this Orphan Rocker Roller Coaster has never yet been opened to the Public – remaining under construction for 26 years now!!!

Now inside Scenic World waiting for the Scenic Railway :

Hehehehe see Me again in 1997 on my 1st Trip here at Scenic World in The Blue Mountains National Park at Katoomba, Sydney!! Hmm the Scenic Railway still look very much the same after all these years

Now I’m here again with Dear - seated on the World’s Steepest Incline Scenic Railway that carries a maximum of 84 passengers & operates every 10 mins – how fast huh

It’s Dear’s 1st time riding this though it’s his 2nd trip here too!! Often I’d told him how interesting this Scenic Railway Ride was & now he’s finally gonna ride it with me

This World’s Steepest Incline (of 52 degrees!!) Scenic Railway descends 415m through a Cliff side Tunnel down into/up from, the World Heritage Rainforest of Jamison Valley………………….

Hahahaha so fun below’s Me (on left) with buddy Guat Tzin riding the Scenic Railway in 1997 - see how happy I was surprisedly then I had no fear at all but found it so thrilling ahahhahah!!!

Also known as “The Mountain Devil“, the original Scenic Railway Car was constructed for a Coal & Oil Shale Mining Operation in the Jamison Valley in the 1880s - so as to haul Shale from the Valley floor up to the escarpment above. It was later converted for use as a Tourist Attraction before World World II.

Standing here at beautiful Jamison Valley we could see The Three Sisters in their magnificent Rock Formation, though they’re not quite visible in my below pic taken at the same spot here at Scenic World in 1997

Stepping into the Scenic Walkway – an over 2.8km boardwalk through the World Heritage ancient Jurassic Rainforest of the Jamison Valley……………well, for us we decided we’ll just visit the Coal Mine Exhibition located just a few minutes into the Scenic Walkway – so wish we’ve got more time out here…………………

From this following pic we can see clearly the 52 degrees acute angle Track :

Together with the Philipino with whom we’ve been chatting while enjoying the lovely rainforested Scenic Walkway now about to take the Scenic Flyway, also called Scenic Cableway, or Sceniscender!!

Yes, the Scenic Cableway (or Sceniscender - also carrying up to 84 passengers like the Scenic Railway) is the Steepest Aerial Cable Car in the Southern Hemishere (to be exact!) It takes us 545m into/out of Jamison Valley – so cool huh

Time now to leave Scenic World for our next Tourist Attraction here in Blue Mountains National Park – having bade farewell to our Philipino friend who’s gone back to his Tour group in Coach travelling back to Sydney

Now we’re outside Scenic World after shopping in Skyway Souvenirs – the largest (in New South Wales!!) Souvenirs Shop inside Scenic World. But hey I no longer see The Three Sisters Rock Formation Display here outside Scenic World now, as compared to 1997 seen in my below pic :

Instead now the Aboriginal Statues of The Three Sisters are on display – here’s Me in 2010 posing with 2 of The Three Sisters :

YES, the above 3rd Sister is being displayed apart from her other 2 Sisters :)

Arhahahaha the above must be the Aboriginal Witchdoctor from the Katoomba Tribe who turned The Three Sisters into Stone – but later died not able to turn back back to real life!!

Anyway, it’s time for our drive to our next place of interest here at The Blue Mountains National Park

Haaaaaaaaa I couldnt really sleep throughout the entire last night as our Hotel Room’s facing ongoing non-stop Road traffic THANK God we were just told that we could change to a much quieter Room from the Hotel Receptionist

…………….now Me half-asleep trying to have my Breakfast at Pacific International Hotel…………………..

Anyway, shortly after the pretty yummy Breakfast, Dear & I took off in a Sydney public Bus travelling to pick up our Rental Car in Thrifty Car Rental…………………..

Now just gotten off at the Central Sydney Bus Stop infront of St Andrew’s Catheral alongside Sydney Town Hall – a lovely 19th Century Landmark Sandstone Building (located opposite Queen Victoria Building – QVB) sitting above Town Hall Railway Station.

Here’s the very beautiful St Andrew’s Catheral right here in the heart of Sydney :

2 hours later we happily arrived at The Blue Mountains National Park at Kamtoomba in the Blue Mountains Region of the Great Dividing Range 18km West of Sydney – Dear standing at the Echo Point Car Park :  

Inscribed as a World Heritage Area by UNESCO in 2000, The Blue Mountains National Park covers 267, 954 hectres consisting mainly of a Sanstone plateau, which is an area of Highland usually of relatively flat terrain. The area is desserted by Gorges up to 760m deep – the Highest point being 1190m above sea levels.

And Katoomba is the Chief Town of the City of Blue Mountains – the biggest & most visited Town here at The Blue Mountains National Park. “Ka-toom-ba” is an Australian Aboriginal term meaning “Shinning Falling Water” taking its name from a Waterfall that drops into the Jamison Valley.

Now we’re inside Three Sisters World Heritage Plaza :

Right outside the Entrance to the basement Gifts Souvenirs shop is an Australian Aborigine Replica :)

Like Koala, Wombat is also an Australian Marsupial which is a short-legged mascular quadruped with a very short tail - its name coming from the Eora Aboriginal community who were the original inhabitants of Sydney.

Why I like Wombats?? Mainly cos I find them so chubbly cute!! Besides they’re so warm you know – that was how I felt when I carried my 1st Australian Wombat at Hervey Bay’s Nature World in Queensland, Australia :

Ahahaa I just only noticed that this above Wombat which I’m carrying on my laps is a Grey-colored one - I always thought it was Brown (when their fur color can range from Sandy color to Brown, or from Grey to Black!!). Anyway, did you notice someone else from my above pic?? 

Heheheheeee that’s my Dear Dear - well, we were all visiting Hervey Bay from Brisbane with a few other uni mates, including a Japanese Tourist whom we went Fraser Island!! Haaaa talking about Fraser Island, I must showcase my FI Trip’s pics one of these fine days huh  

Now SEE my sososooooo CUTE FAT CHUBBY Brown Wombat which I named “Wombie” – gift from Dear purchased in Brisbane (Capital of Queensland!) where he was staying during his uni days in Australia. Just to let you know, by nature Wombats’ Fur is coarse & thick & bristle-like, & my WOMBIE’s fur is similar except is much smoother to my touch I love it!!!!

Hey an Australia GIANT Kangaroo (with her Baby inside Pouch!!) in the Souvenirs Gifts Shop here at Three Sisters World Heritage Plaza :

Heheee another of my all-time favourite Australia animals – I still remember I was so delighted when I first hugged my very 1st Kangaroo Soft Toy - a very precious gift from my Big Sister Daisy who went to Perth for Holidays. Upon receiving this Kangaroo back when I was in my pre-colleage days, she seemed so HUGE & I loved her on the spot – so beautiful!!!

But sadly in actual fact, I’ve bathed my Kangaroo once putting her inside the Washing Machine & the end-result was her Once-Used-to-be-so-Fine-so-Smooth-Fur has actually lost its shine & softness making me so sad

Well, seeing the above GIANT Kangaroo here at Three Sisters World Heritage Plaza reminded me of the GIANT Koala with which I took a pic when I was in Cold Coast Australia during my uni Summer Vacation – VERY nice huh

YES they do!! - even the Restaurant waitress has to be out on the Terrace to shuu the birds away especially when she was serving the guests dining/just enjoying the amazing views out here!!

There’s even a beautiful large Sulpur-crested Cockatoo (that looks just like my Pet Parrot in childhood!!) that flew by the tree beside our Table a few times, & I was about to snap a pic of it if not for the waitress who came out serving us……………………

Hmmmmm hmmmmmmmmm the Seafood Basket is so deliciously prepared – very fresh & tasty & not oily at all though they’re fried – & its Salads so nice & crunchy!! AND yes the CHIPS are just great!! Never sick of the Australian Chips

So yummy too is the above Denise’s Gourmet Pie - simply superb the BEST Beef Pie we’ve had so far

Ummm now her’s Me back in 1997 with The Three Sisters – they never change at all still looking so gorgeous!!

Now let me share with you the Aboriginal Three Sisters Legend : 3 beautiful Sisters named “Meehni“, “Wimlah” & “Gunnedoo“ were members of the Katoomba Tribe who lived here at the Jamison Valley.

They fell in love with 3 Brothers from the Nepean Tribe, but Tribal Law forbade them to marry The Brothers decided to use force to capture the 3 Sisters causing a major Tribal Battle……………………

Now in order to protect the 3 Sisters from being harmed in the Battles, a Witchdoctor from the Katoomba Tribe decided to turn the 3 Sisters into Stone – intending to reverse the Spell on the 3 Sisters after the Battle was over………………but the Witchdoctor was killed & no one could do the reversal, thus leaving the 3 Sisters to remain in their current magnificent Rock formation!!

Yes, I’m right here at Sydney Metro Light Rail Fish market Station waiting for the Light Rail Tram to go to Convention Station to visit Sydney Darlng Harbour :

Here comes the Light Rail Tram which goes all the way to Central Station :

One of the World’s Great Waterfront destinations - Sydney Darling Harbour is a large recreational & pedestrain precint located on the outskirts of Sydney’s Central Business District - extending northwards from Chinatown, along both sides of Cockle Bay to King Street Wharf on the East, & to the suburb of Pyrmont on the West.

Can you see Sydney Tower in-between the 2 huge Building blocks below?? Yes – that’s where we’ll be visiting next

Dear outside Sydney Visitor Information Centre where there’re lots of free Brochures & Maps, plus there’re professional Visitor Services Advisors whom we could obtain very good travelling & Tourist attractions tips & information. In addition, there’s a good range of Australian Gifts & Souvenirs – hehehee which of course I browsed through but too bad nothing catches my eyes

Hey there’s a free 30 minute Sounds of the Outback Show in the Australia’s Northern Territory & Outback Centre where we’re standing outside now – let’s check it out!!

Oh we just missed the earlier Show & have to wait for some time before the next show, so Dear & I decided to give it a miss – now just enjoying the following Aboriginal Didgeridoos inside the Outback Centre………………

Haaa it’s a pretty long walk to the Sydney Tower passing through the Chinese Garden of Friendship (which we didnt enter!!) etc…………..We’re now inside……………..

One of  the most prominent Tourist Attractions in Sydney, the Sydney Tower is Sydney’s Tallest free-standing structure & the 2nd Tallest in Australia. Located at 100 Market Street between Pitt Street & Castlereagh Street, Sydney Tower stands 305m above Sydney’s Central Business District. Sydney Tower is also known as the AMP Centrepoint Tower (or just Centrepoint Tower) as it sits on top of Centrepoint Shopping Centre.

Now, we’ve just purchased our Tickets (which includes Oz Trek Ride!!) up the Sydney Tower Observation Deck :  

Standing 250m above Sydney City Streets, Sydney Tower Observation Deck provides the best views of Sydney at the highest Tourist Attraction & Building!!

Best of all, there’re 18 Binoculars available up here above Sydney City skyline on the Observation Deck that allow us to see from a Bird’s eye view

Well, it’s been a real long night & day since we flew from home Singapore here early this morning, & my poor Dear’s kinda sleepy now taking a Nap in the Observation Deck just outside its Australian Souvenirs Shop – while I go shopping of course heheheheee

Being in the AMP Centrepoint Shopping Centre, there’re many nice shops here below Sydney Tower, but they’re all already closed when we came down from the Observation Deck. And cos we wana go find something to eat, we decided to come back for our Oz Trek Ride another day!!

Queen Victoria Building (QVB) is a 19th Century Building located in the Central Business District of Sydney. The Romanesque Revival Building is 190m long by 30m wide, filling a City Block – bounded by George Street, Market Street, York Street & Druiit Street.

The above is my favourite Tea Towel which I got from Tower of London Souvenirs Shop in the United Kingdom. It was a pity I didn’t get to see the Royal Crown Jewels in London then, so it’s really nice I get to enjoy them here in Sydney, though they’re but just replicas

We’re now back at Pacific International Hotel (used to be known as The Great Southern Hotel) here at George Street having just taken a Cab back from Burger King, cos we’re both too tired to walk any more!! It’s way past 11pm now but Sydney’s still so busy at this late hour

Opened in 1988 on 21 July, Sydney Metro Monorail is a Single-Loop Von Roll (Swiss Aerial Company) MkIII Monorail in Sydney’s City that connects Darling Harbour, Chinatown (where it’s just across Market City here!!), & its Central Business & Shopping District. In total there’re 8 Monorail Stations on a 3.6km Track, with 4 Monorail Trains operating simultaneously.

Currently the only Light Rail Line in Sydney opened in 1997 on 31 August mostly along the route of an unused Goods Railway Line, Sydney’s Metro Light Rail serves the redeveloped Inner-City areas of Darling Harbour, Ultimo & Pyrmont – where we’re be going now

In 2000, this Metro Light Rail was extended to serve the Inner Western Suburbs here in Sydney, Australia. The Route extends for 7.4km, with 14 Light Rail Stations including 2 interchanges to the Metro Monorail Line, & a Station at Sydney’s Star City Casino.

We’ve just arrived at Metro Light Rail Fish Market Station here in Pyrmont – a Inner-City Suburb located 2km Southwest of Sydney’s Central Business District in the Local Government Area of Sydney’s City – also part of the Darling Harbour region.

And YES, the reason of Dear & I coming here to the Fish Market Station is of course to visit the well-reputed Sydney Fish Market – hmmmm so hungry can’t wait to have our SEAFOOD Lunch

Pyrmont used to be a vital component of Sydney’s industrial Waterfront with wharfs, shipping yards, factories & woolstores, thus it’s only right that Sydney Fish Market is located here on Blackwattle Bay.

Below shows Sydney’s Chinatown Arch in Chinatown (the largest in Australia!) here across Market City. Sydney’s Chinatown is filled with restaurants, food stalls, noodle bars & grocers specialising in genuine Asian cuisines – Dear & I have fun time walking through them

Can you see the Houseflies (at least 2!!) on my head hahahaa!!!

Arhahahahhaaa still remember the Summer Houseflies buzzing around me (especially my head & face!!) when I was touring in Canberra, Australia.

But never thought they’d be here in Sydney City too, though Dear & I had been to Sydney each on our own before!! And I’ve lived in Geelong (in Victoria), & he in Brisbane (in Queensland), & we’ve toured many places in Australia during its Summer but still, there isn’t any Housefly around!!!

Now, below pic is Me on my very 1st Encounter with Aussie Summer Houseflies in Canberra, & I was just laughing away hahahahahaaa!! Can you see the Housefly on my right arm – guess my laughters scared the many rest away heheheeeee!!!

Located in a large Warehouse Space, the Paddy’s Markets are the oldest & biggest traditional Markets of Sydney offering just about everything - clothes, shoes, souvenirs, bags, 2nd hand goods etc etc!!

WOW WOW here begins my long-awaited Shopping Spree at the Famous Sydney’s Paddy’s Markets – so many things to see, so many stalls to browse I’m just going wild right now hahahaaaa

There’s even a Fresh Produce - Fruits, Vegetables & Seafood Section here inside Paddy’s Markets :

Outside Paddy’s Markets now – we decided to bring our Shopping Bags back to our Hotel Room………………….

Now, let me show you all the Australian Souvenirs that we’ve just purchased from Paddy’s Markets :

Heheheee by the look of my Aussie Souvenirs, I bet you know I love Koalas & Kangaroos!??!? YES I DO!!!

Koala is the only mammal which can survive on a diet of Eucalyptus (or Gum Leaves), & its name comes from an Aboriginal word meaning  ”No Drink“, cos Koala receives over 90% of its hydration from the Eucalyptus it eats. And Koala only drinks when it’s ill or during times when there’s not enough moisture in the leaves, such as during Droughts.

I simply adore this small Bear-like, tree-dwelling herbivorous marsupial – felt so happy when I first touched a Koala in Hervey Bay’s Nature World in Queensland, Australia :

An Australian marsupial from the Family Macropodidae (macropods meaning “Large Foot” – the largest species of the Family), kangaroo is a National Symbol of Australia – its emblem used on the Australian Coat of Arms, on some Australian currency, as well as on some of Australia’s well known organisations, such as Qantas Airways.

The word “Kangaroo” is derived from the Guugu Yimithirr (an Australian Aboriginal Language) word “Gangurru” – referring to a Grey Kangaroo. And well, I 1st saw & fell in love with Kangaroos when I was in Perth (Western Australia) on my 1st ever Australian Trip with Mom & Dad

Australian Aborigines Holding Aboriginal Didgeridoo Souvenir Fridge Magnets :

Aborigines are Australia’s indigenous People – original inhabitants of the Australian Continent  & nearby Islands, & their Descendants who have migrated to Australia some 30 000 to 40 000 years ago.

Currently the Aborigines make up about 2.7% of the Australia’s population. And an Aboriginal Didgeridoo is a Wind Instrument developed by the Aborigines of Northern Australia some 1 500 years ago.

Now, I’m extremely excited upon finding a charming Aboriginal Figurine at Paddy’s Markets too, just at the last minute at the outside Stall before leaving the Markets - I simply adore it

Whew both Dear & I are so tired having shopped (for a few hrs!!) & walked around Chinatown, Market City & Paddy’s Markets since morning upon our arrival here from Singapore!! But then we still wana go out again for lunch heheeee – See you all later okie
