She’s always up to something, and Rihanna was spotted at a studio in London, England. The “We Found Love” songstress looked playful as she frolicked around in a black cap, white top, and black trousers as the cameras rolled.

And though she’s resolved to work with her abusive ex-boyfriend Chris Brown, Rihanna hasn’t received the blessing from her mentor Jay-Z. An insider told press, "Jay was absolutely disgusted by what Chris did to Rihanna. Jay doesn't understand how a man could ever lay hands on a woman; it just goes against who he is and about. Chris is absolutely dead to Jay, he wants nothing to do with him ever. Now that Rihanna is hooking up with Chris and recording songs with him, Jay is deeply disappointed in her actions.”

“He can't fathom why Rihanna is doing the things she is doing. He understands the need for forgiveness, but he is adamant that Rihanna shouldn't forget what Chris did to her. Jay wonders what kind of message this is sending to Rihanna's young female fans. Rihanna knows how Jay feels about Chris, but she doesn't care, she is going to do what she wants.”

Rihanna keeps her shades on as she steps out on Thursday evening (February 23) in London, England. The 24-year-old singer carried a binder with “CAST” written on it – wonder what the new project is! Ri was in town for the Brit Awards 2012, where she won the award for Best International Female Solo artist.

Rihanna And Chris Brown: The Saga Continues

Just about three years after he violently assaulted her, R&B singer Chris Brown is back with pop star Rihanna — musically, at least. On Monday night, each released a new version of a previously released song. Both remixes feature the other party, and both are causing quite the stir.

The speculation built for days. Last week there were rumors Rihanna might release a remix to one of her songs and that Chris Brown would guest on it. Then right on cue, the day of her 24th birthday, Rihanna did it. She tweeted a remix to "Birthday Cake." Featuring a still-on-probation Brown.

But wait — there's more. That same day, Chris Brown tweeted a remix to the lead single from his upcoming album, a track called "Turn Up the Music." And yep, you guessed it. Rihanna sings the hook.

The Internet's jaw dropped. "Something is not right with them," says Natalie Hopkinson, a contributing editor at The Root. "These are two deeply disturbed individuals that probably need to get off Twitter and spend some time on someone's couch, working it out."

Like many other writers online, Hopkinson wasn't happy with Rihanna and Brown's musical reunion. Headlines called the songs "stomach-turning" and "unbelievable." They critiqued Rihanna's song in particular, for its lyrics that blurred the line between pleasure and pain, and could be interpreted as alluding to Brown's assault of her.

For Hopkinson, it wasn't just the explicit nature of the lyrics, or the message a reconciliation might send about domestic abuse. "They're normalizing this incredibly abnormal and deviant behavior," she says. "And then on top of that, they're doing it for their own personal gain, their record company's personal gain, the bloggers' personal gain, the clicks, the page views."

But Maura Johnston of the Village Voice says we shouldn't rush to judge the singers. "I always am wary of attributing motives to people in pop," she says. "Especially now when you have ways that you can disseminate a persona that aren't necessarily your persona."

And disseminating personae is something Brown and Rihanna are extremely good at. Both are staples of the blogosphere, and each has millions of Twitter followers, who took to the duo's new music this past Monday with almost universal support.

One of those Twitter followers is Cherice McGlone, a sophomore at Howard University in Washington, D.C. For her, the duets were a sign of something more. "I feel like they've been back together for a while, but they're just now letting the public know. I'm cool with it," McGlone says. "I love black love."

But, she says, the remixes aren't only about love. "The main goals of the songs were money, publicity. 'Why not draw attention to my song, generate more revenue?' I would do it," she says. "Makes more money, you know? The public is gonna eat that up. Whether good or bad, the public is gonna be talking about it."

Howard sophomore Earl King agreed. "They did it for love, cause they do love each other," he says. "They're gonna make money off it too — good money. And it might cause some backlash, but their fans are gonna support them."

Whether the songs are a wink, a kiss or a money grab, Johnston says she knows one thing is clear: "I don't think either of the songs is good at all."Not that that will quiet the storm.

Rihanna enjoys birthday 'carnage'

Rihanna's birthday was 'carnage,' as she and her friends drank four bottles of tequila. The 'You Da One' singer held a wild party to celebrate turning 24 yesterday (20.02.12) at an 8,000 penthouse suite in London's Corinthia hotel on Sunday night (19.02.12).

A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: 'Rihanna's birthday was carnage. She and her posse of female pals, who had flown in from the US, stripped down to their bikinis and ended up dancing around in a full bath of water.

'They were downing shots and went through four bottles of Patron tequila. 'A massive birthday cake was presented to Rihanna and the room was filled with red roses.'All the partying left the pop star in a worse for wear state for rehearsals for the BRIT Awards - which take place at London's The 02 arena tonight (21.02.12 - wearing shorts, stockings and suspenders, dark glasses, a baseball-style jacket and a dark scarf, although to help her get back in shape she had a personal chef to cook her breakfast. She also had her own private dining room filled with purple flowers, candles and Oreo cookies.

And it seems Rihanna was feeling the after-effects during rehearsals. A source told the MailOnline: 'Rihanna turned up to rehearsals really, really late. 'She didn't do any singing or dancing whatsoever. She literally stood on the stage like a zombie. 'She made all of her dancers, about 50 of them, dance around her and she stood there looking like she'd been dug up.'

Never listens that boy. Adding even more fuel to the raging inferno that is the rumour they’re getting it on again in some way, Chris Brown has Tweeted Rihanna. “HAPPY BIRTHDAY ROBYN!” he posted earlier today.

We would say he really, really, really meant it, due to his excessive use of the caps button, but we refuse to grant him enough intelligence to understand even the simplest of grammatical rules.

Chris is presumably wanting everyone to think he knows her really well by using her birth name – and of course he does. They got particularly close in a car once – just before she reported him to the police for beating the hell out of her.

Rihanna’s not as bitter as us though and she’s replied to him with a simple: “Thanks!” She’s over here in London town preparing for her performance at the Brits tomorrow, oh and partying, a lot, with the likes of Kate Moss (we are slightly worried for her health).

“I can't believe I'm pullin an all nighter on my BDAY!!!” she Tweeted straight after thanking Chris – which hopefully made him insanely jealous. She’s due at rehearsals today, despite the no sleep, but still sounds pretty chipper / drunk: “Ahhhhhhh ALL MY BDAY wishes from my DM to my TL!!!! KRAY! I truly love u guys, thank you so much #RihannaNavy for makin me feel special.”

We did something a little special for Rihanna’s 24th big day too – paid some seagulls to attack Chris on the beach – happy birthday Ri Ri!

Singer Rihanna got together with friends Katy Perry, Bruno Mars and Chris Martin to celebrate her 24th birthday a week in advance. She chose a Barbados-themed bash for the celebrations.

The "Umbrella" hitmaker will officially turn 24 Feb 20, but she got the party started with more than 100 friends and family members in Beverly Hills, California, Feb 13, reports dailystar.co.uk.

The guests feasted on a Caribbean-style dinner as a tribute to Rihanna's island roots, and indulged in cupcakes decorated with Barbadian flags. A brass drum player was also on hand to play reggae tunes, while Rihanna seemed to have a great time with her friends. Towards the end of the evening, a personalised birthday cake, featuring an image of a bikini-clad Rihanna, was brought out along with more than 20 bottles of champagne for a special toast. Attendees also walked away with high-end Camacho cigars as a parting gift, said a source.

Rihanna may not have swept the Grammys at this year's ceremony, but she might be setting her sights on another form of entertainment. The R&B-pop singer will be starring alongside Taylor Kitsch in the upcoming film "Battleship," and director Peter Berg seems to think she's doing well, reported MTV.

"She was great," said Berg to MTV. "She has a very strong part...I've always believed in musicians as actors." The director said that he's had "great success" working with country artist Tim McGraw in the film "Friday Night Lights," and continued to list other skilled singers-turned-actresses. But this is only one of Rihanna's current ventures-the 23-year-old starlet is also collaborating with fashion moguls Henry Holland and Nicola Roberts on a new television show, according to The Mirror.

"I've always had a great love of fashion," Rihanna said to The Mirror. "It's a constant source of information in my life, and is a big reason why I've grown into the person and artist I am today."And although some seem to be dwelling on her past troubles with Chris Brown, the "We Found Love" singer is celebrating moving forward. People reported that Rihanna held a Caribbean-themed birthday bash to celebrate at the Hearst Mansion in Beverly Hills Monday night. Around 100 guests, including Bruno Mars and Katy Perry, arrived for an early celebration of the diva's 24th birthday, which is next week.

As for Chris Brown, he may have taken home this year's Grammy for Best R&B Album but many were angered by his recognition at the award show. The Twitter community even went so far as to incite a death hoax, with the term "RIP Chris Brown" trending yesterday.

Chris Brown and Rihanna may well have put their troubled past behind. Three years after Breezy got arrested for assaulting Riri, words came out that he was invited to his ex-girlfriend's early birthday party at the Hearst Mansion in Beverly Hills on Monday, February 13 night.

Celebuzz confirmed that the "Wet the Bed" singer was indeed in attendance, while British tabloid Daily Mirror went further by quoting a tweet from a reported guest. "All I can say, CB was invited and she [Rihanna] was acting like the happiest girl on her birthday and probably got what she asked for," wrote Katia C.

Riri herself won't turn 24 until February 20, but her Caribbean-themed party was attended by around 100 of her friends and family members. PEOPLE reported that the guests, including Katy Perry, Bruno Mars and Coldplay's Chris Martin, were treated to a Caribbean-style dinner and Sprinkles cupcakes decorated with Barbadian flags.

At around 2 A.M., the "We Found Love" singer was presented with a custom birthday cake, which features an image of her lying on her stomach in a red bikini bottom over a giant seashell. More than 20 bottles of Armand de Brignac Brut Gold Champagne reportedly were also brought out along with the cake.

Words that Breezy came to Riri's birthday bash came in the midst of criticism over his Grammy appearance. A day after the 54th Annual Grammy Awards was held, celebrities like Miranda Lambert and Jack Osbourne expressed their disbelief that Breezy got to win Best R&B Album and perform twice.

In response, Breezy tweeted on Tuesday, "HATE ALL U WANT BECUZ I GOT A GRAMMY Now! That's the ultimate F**** OFF!" He later came out with another tweet that read, "I'm so OVER everyone's opinions.. Really!!!" The "Next 2 You" singer has since deleted both tweets though.
