Students will receive their cap and gown, and 9 graduation tickets when we return from the boat cruise

Graduation Ceremony 5:00PM (doors open at 4:40pm)

Students MUST arrive by 4:15PM and will be ready to walk by 4:45PM

5. May 18 8th Grade Service Learning Day

Students have chosen and been assigned to their service learning project
Please see attached documents in email with important information on each project

COLLECTION DRIVES

Cradles to Crayons

Boys clothing (sizes 10 to 18 and adult M), New and gently used sneakers, rain boots, flip flops (sizes newborn to adult 10), spring jackets (sizes newborn to ages 10-12), diapers and wipes, new bedding, new socks, new underwear, and new pajamas, books (especially baby board books for ages 10-12), car seats, new and like new toys, new batteries

Breakthrough

Shampoo, body wash, deoderant, lotion such as vaseline or cocoa butter, carmex, toothpaste, toothbrush, linens (towels, washcloths, blankets, comforter, matress pad, pillow sheets), trash cans, fans, extension cords, power strips, dry erase boards, kleenex, razors, hair dryer, school supplies, hangers

This will complete the 9th Grade English Service Learning Project requirement if students choose to use it

Students can also choose their own outside service learning separate from this day if they want. They will still participate on May 18, however.

Cost of Transportation

There is a $15.00 transportation cost due to Ms. Cory by Wednesday May 16
This covers the cost of transportation for the Service Learning Day and the Spirit of Chicago Boat Cruise

When we were in D.C. we received Senate and House impGallery viewing tickets from Senator Durbin’s office.

Congratulations Math Team!!

This past weekend, the LTAC Math Team had their most successful contest to date. The 8th grade team beat Whitney Young, came in 1st place, and had the top 3 individual scores. Congrats to Mirza Mehmedagic (1st place), Ryan To (2nd place), Hank Stennes (2nd place), Nolan Hey, Kaylee Fang, and Jack Decker. Ryan To and Hank Stennes also won the 8th grade video contest. The 7th grade team won 2nd place overall and had the top 2 individual scores. James Pan had the highest total score in LTAC history with 58 out of 60 questions correct and is the first LTAC student to win 1st place overall on the season. Lekh Murthy also won 2nd place this contest. Congratulations to all of our LTAC Mathletes!

Congrats Battle of the Books!

LTAC Battle of the Books Team qualified for City Finals and got the top score in Network 4!

This year 148 teams of readers from 97 schools participated in the Battle of the Books program! After months of reading and studying 21 texts of fiction, non-fiction, and poetry, student teams answered questions about all 21 books in online qualifying competitions.

Congratulations to our LTAC Battle of the Books Team, which is 1 of 15 7-8th Grade Teams in the city to make it to the City Finals!! Come cheer them on at Little Village Lawndale High School Campus at 10:00AM on Saturday April 21. 10:00 AM.

3. Field Trip: A Wrinkle in Time

We will be WALKING to the City North Stadium 2600 N. Western Ave (please send good vibes for good weather, for many reasons)
$12.00 per student due Friday April 6 (Academy teachers for 7th grade, English teachers for 8th grade)
Meet in cafeteria at 8:00AM
Lunch in cafeteria upon return to school until 1:15pm -- students will miss 1st period this day -- see special bell schedule for PSAT day in April newsletter
If a student is NOT going on the field trip, but will be coming to school on 4.17, they will be given a room number and a teacher to check in with and will be in that room until lunch time.

Students may work on chromebook or computer for homework, read a book, or do some other educational activity

We want to spend more time with you than 5 minutes, but 5 minutes is all we have per family -- please respect that.
We like it when your student is there with you.
It is best if you encourage your student to talk to us directly if there is a question or a concern.
Please remember we can only talk about your child and our respective subject.
Remember that this is a mid-semester PROGRESS report -- the final semester grades won’t be complete until the end of June. Thus, there is time for improvement.

Congratulations to LTAC's Science Olympiad Team! On Saturday, the team competed at IIT for the Science Olympiad Regional Championship. After a long day of competing in both written and build events, LTAC came in 2nd place overall thus advancing the team to the State Championships in Champaign on April 21st!!!

LTAC Math Team Results

Both the 7th and 8th grade Math Team came in 1st place at our site this past Saturday. The 7th grade team was led by James Pan who had a perfect score and won 1st place. Also placing was Malak Lofti (2nd), Eli Furgeson (3rd), Axl Knickerbocker (3rd), Lekh Murthy (3rd), and Sydney Curran (3rd). The 8th grade team was led by Ryan To who had a near perfect score and won 1st place. Also placing was Mirza Mehmedagic (2nd), Hank Stennes (2nd), Theo Lewis (4th), and Nolan Hey (5th). Congratulations to all 30 of our Mathletes that attended the contest and Coach Markese!

National Junior Honor Society

There will be an informational meeting for National Junior Honor Society on Monday, December 18 in room 320. Applications will be distributed at that time to students. This group is in place to honor LTAC students who excel in scholarship, leadership, and service. If interested, completed applications are due back by Wednesday, January 10th.
