Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Pune, has invited applications for admission to the MBBS course. The MBBS course is to commence from 1st August 2012.

AFMC MBBS Entrance Examination 2012 prospectus and application form are available online from 6 February 2012 onwards. This year the application process has been kept entirely online and there is no sale of prospectus or application form at Post Offices.

The last date by which you can download and submit the application online is 5th March 2012. The candidates can also send the completed application by post, the last date of the receipt of the application at AFMC Pune is 12 March 2012(1700 h). The Entrance Exam for AFMC 2012 will be held on 6 May 2012 and the interview date will be declared only after the Entrance Exam.

There are total of 130 seats for AFMC 2012 including a maximum of 25 seats for the girls. Ten seats are reserved for the Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe candidates. The selected candidates have a mandatory liability of serving in the Armed Forces Medical Service as Commissioned Officers on graduation for seven years. The candidates who are admitted to the college have to execute a bond to this effect for an amount of Rupees Fifteen Lacs at the time of joining the college. Students who are removed from the service liability due to any reason are liable to pay the bond money as per the norms laid down by the Govt. of India.

The course duration is of 4 Years and 6 Months and candidates upon the successful completion of the course are appointed as doctors in the Indian Armed Forces.
The basic eligibility criterion is a qualification in 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English. The candidates should have scored a minimum of 60% marks in PCB and should have scored at least 50% marks in English and in other science subjects. Candidates should also have passed in Mathematics in 10th standard.

AFMC MBBS 2012 is an objective type competitive entrance examination comprising a single paper in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, English, Logical Reasoning and Intelligence. The duration of the exam is 120 minutes. The paper would consist of 200 questions. There is negative marking of 0.25 for every wrong answer.The syllabus for the AFMC 2012 is based on the CBSE Pattern of class 11th and 12th standard. Questions in English, Logical Reasoning and Intelligence are also based on 12th standard.

Maruti Suzuki launched its latest release – the new Maruti Swift Dzire, in the sedan segment. Codenamed as Swift 3.99, the compact version of the new Maruti Dzire is packed with almost 150 new features as compared to previous Swift Dzire.

For the first time Maruti Suzuki has focused on working for cost reduction in the production for the sedan segment. The length of the car is kept under 4 meter mark which has resulted it to qualify for a lower excise duty of 10 percent as against 22 percent taxed current Swift Dzire giving the buyer a lower price bracket starting at Rs. 4, 79,000 (Ex- Showroom New Delhi) for the base Petrol model and Rs. 5, 80,000 (Ex-Showroom New Delhi) for the base Diesel model. The new Dzire comes in both petrol and diesel version. Maruti Suzuki has rolled out 4 petrol and 3 diesel variants in the Swift Dzire fleet namely LXi, VXi, VXi AT, ZXi, LDi, VDi and ZDi.

Based on the new Swift Dzire’s platform, the petrol variant of the Swift Dzire is packed with the K series engine of 1.2 litre with a displacement of 1197 cc. Dzire VXi petrol version supports four speed automatic transmission while the other petrol models are having 5 speed manual transmission. The engine follows BS IV emission compliance norms. It has a power output of 86 bhp at 6000 rpm and gives a torque of 114 Nm at 4000 rpm. This K series engine has given the new sedan Swift Dzire a rise in power output by 2 bhp as against its predecessor sedan.

The diesel variant of the new Swift Dzire comes with a DOHC diesel engine of displacement 1248 cc. This advance diesel engine produces an impressive power of 74 bhp at 4000 rpm. The engine is fitted with high quality CRDI fuel injection system which offers a high torque of 190 Nm at 2000 rpm.

The new Swift Dzire boasts of mileage in petrol variants of 19.1 kmpl for the manual versions and 17.4 kmpl for the automatic version. The petrol engine gives an excellent pick up of 100 km in barely 12 seconds and has a maximum speed of 169 kmph. The diesel engine gives a pretty good mileage of 23.4 kmpl and gives an acceleration of 100 km in only 14.8 seconds. The maximum speed limit of the diesel engine is 162 kmph.

The new Swift Dzire comes with a total length of 3995 mm. The overall length has given a reduction in the boot space and the new car comes with a 316 litres of bootspace. The wheel base has been increased in the new car to 2430 mm which has given the new Dzire a wider and roomier interiors now.

The other noteworthy and interesting features that have been changed include a completely new slated grille, bigger headlamps, new tail lamps, larger rear doors, new bumpers, fog lamp enclosures and rear is done in a tweaked style. Maruti Suzuki has introduced 7 colors for all the variants of the new Swift Dzire models.

The interiors of the Swift Dzire are classically designed with upgrades in the following areas. There is all new dual tone dashboard, air conditioning with climate control, an integrated stereo on higher models. New safety features include front dual SRS airbags, ELR seatbelts, ABS, Brake Assist, Engine Drag Control System, and EBD.

The new Swift Dzire wheels is styled on the new-age pinwheel type with cult alloy wheels. Base and mid level variants come with fourteen inch wheels with steel rims while the top end models for petrol and diesel have 15 inch alloy wheels. Safety features are well taken care in the new Swift Dzire by having Antilock Braking System, Electronic Brake Distribution and Engine Drag Control System and host of other new features. Ventilated Disc Brakes and Drum Brakes are used for the front and rear wheels.

The new Swift Dzire is loaded with Nippon music system for the music lovers, 4 dynamic speakers have been given along with 2 tweeters which make the music sound very well in the interior cabin all throughout.
