California Vacation - Day 2 (June 27)

Day two in California, and Cindy and I took out some bikes for a day of riding around in the sun! While we stayed in an awesome downtown loft the entire time, Cindy normally stayed with her boyfriend out in the suburbs. And out there, her and I took out their bikes along the LA River.

We had an amazing time. Lots of wildlife. Lots of funny pictures. We even stopped at Target for some drinks! Such a great launch to a great vacation.

After the bike ride, Cindy and I stopped at this great salad/soup/sandwhich place and enjoyed some time catching up. She picked on me a little bit for being addicted to my cellphone, but I didn't even have internet on it for 3 days, so it was just pictures pictures pictures!

One of our goals this vacation was to have it be a GROUPON VACATION. W00t! Ha. But yeah, we took this great Segway tour through to the LaBrea tarpits. Along the way, lots of sightseeing and pictures in front of landmarks.

While it was only a couple hours, I had a great time! Tired! But all around a great time. Cindy wore a Yoda backpack the entire time and got so much attention. We had a great time.

So Cindy is a vet tech for a mobile vet, so she takes a lot of ad hoc jobs that require her to travel all over the city. Additionally, she would pet sit for a week at places as it's less expensive and more effective to pay her than to board a sick animal. One of her clients lives in the hills around Hollywood in a gay-friendly neighborhood, and we stopped for by several hours of wine drinking, cheese eating and dinner munching. So much fun!

After drinking and eating for several hours... we had to make our way back home. Such a great day. We had a great day.

California Vacation - Day 1 (June 26)

So I went to California to visit my very very wonderful friend Cindy Vaca. Been a couple years since I've seen her, and a couple previous attempts to visit have previously failed. But not this time! I arranged this vacation to bump up to July 4th so that I could maximize my time off. I only get so much at my job nowadays. But that meant I left work at 5pm and got on a plane at 6:30pm. Yikes! I even got to L.A. at 4am my time, which by the way is exhausting.

Took a day trip to Niagara on the Lake, wine country right across the border. What an experience!! It was so beautiful, and yet so so close! I will definitely be going back! I had so much fun.

Had a great dinner, with wine, at Luna Pienna Bistro. I bought a GroupOn last year for this place and never got around to going. They serve American style Italian food. I ended up having a delicious lemon chicken vegetable zest dish. It was an all around wonderful time sitting on this sunny evening along the portico.

Had a great time at Ashley's wedding with Nola & James. We made it a lot of fun for us, even if I did get toothpaste on my tie? The reception was fun, we danced, ate a lot of delicious food and drank the open bar until it cried uncle.
