I follow the Minnesota Twins. Let’s start this post out with that fact. I’m not bragging or anything, I respect any person’s allegiance to any team. But, this story casually includes that fact a few times and it needs to be known up front.

I feel a certain allegiance to the Twins, to the point where it’s blasphemous for me to wear a White Sox jersey. For the record, as much as I respect the White Sox I do not like them and I hope they end up at 3rd place behind the Detroit Tigers by the time that the 2008 MLB season arrives at completion.

Now… I have recently begun to like wearing mlb jerseys just ’cause it’s better than t-shirts. Ebay is amazing, as far as finding cheap jerseys goes, so I’m on a roll.

But… there is always the issues of buying or wearing a jersey which conflicts with my support of the Minnesota Twins.

So.

How should this be handled?

I present these rules, which should be followed by sports fans who are allegiant to their teams, yet like to wear league gear in general. This could apply to MLB, NFL, NBA, NHL or whatever.

The Rules For Wearing “Other Teams” Jerseys

Wear a generic team jersey, a jersey with no player number or name. This will make it appear as though you don’t have a favorite player, and you’ll have no logo or recognizable information on the back of the jersey.

Wear the jersey of the player that plays the worst against your favorite team. In my case, I would want to wear the jersey of a White Sox player who always gets schooled when playing the Minnesota Twins.

Degrade the opposing teams jersey in some manner. In my case, I’m going to have a graphic designer that I work with design the word “Sucks” using the same lettering and look of the White Sox logo. I will then take this logo and have it embroidered underneath the Sox logo that is on the front of a White Sox jersey that I bought off of Ebay for $12.80.

Wear the jersey of a player who has played in the past and has no general effect on the team and players that you actively have followed in your lifetime. For example, I was born in 1979, so I figure that I can get by with wearing any team gear from any MLB baseball team or player from before the year 1979 without having a fan conflict situation.

Yeah.

If you have some more ideas for rules, feel free to post a comment to this rant.

A split with the New York Yankees would be great right now.

On a side note, when I was trying to type Yankees, I accidentally typed Tankees twice in a row, and then once again later. Does that mean something? I mean, c’mon. The Rays have gotta finish the end of the season higher in the standings than the Yankees this year. Right?

Pretty cool concept. What would it be like to witness a huge monster attacking New York City?

The characters were kinda goofy, and I really didn’t get into the story much. Let’s just say I was glad when the monster finally attacked.

I like movies with endings that leave you wondering. This ending will leave you wondering. You may or may not like that. I did. I wish more movies ended the way this one did, then I’d feel like it is harder to predict movie endings in general.

If you can actually believe that a goofy dude can stay a dedicated camera man through all the experiences that these characters are put through, good for you. I probably would have dropped or broke the camera along the way, myself. The guy with the camera was awfully dedicated to his contributions to new media and society.

If you like sci-fi or monster movies, you should find Cloverfield to be an interesting a short movie watching jaunt.

Twins management says “we’re gonna let these guys learn in the big leagues”

This shows a definite dedication to these players as part of the Twins future. You can’t look at each players stats along with the number of games that the Twins management has been putting them out there and think that that Twins think of anything but the future of the Twins outfield with Carlos Gomez and Delmon Young.

I just hope now that both of these guys pan out.

Yeah.

They both have potential, and have shown a bit of it here and there (Gomez more than Young). So now let’s see how these guys look as the year grinds on.

The Twins pitching is what should mostly be credited, as they have allowed the Twins to win with a somewhat mediocre offense to this point.

I was holding out no hopes for the Twins this year. I always look at the Twins as a team that has potential to win the division. But they always have player turnover and from year to year it is hard to get a read on how good they actually might be. I mean, how many times have they won the division since 2000? That number speaks for itself.

I’m going to keep routing them on as if they were a winning team. I hope that the Twins can keep this up.
