Oh, I love vintage goodies! Tyler and I went to the Junk in the Trunk Vintage Market with some friends. It’s so much fun to get to see what other people created and be inspired. I bought some goodies but I didn’t go overboard and that’s a good thing. One of them is a vintage arrow sign and I can’t wait to share that with you!

Most of the time I was asking Tyler if I should get this and that and the common question I got back from him was, “where would this go?” Good question but I don’t care…I just want it and can always just store it in my junk until I figure out where to put it. :)

I grew tired of the curtains we’ve had up for a while. I really wanted striped curtains for so long but every time I found them, they were ridiculously expensive. We bought merete curtains from IKEA and decided to get over my fear and paint them. I’ve seen so many pictures on Pinterest of people painting their curtains so I figured what could go wrong? It’s $24.99 if I mess up.

I came across a blogger who did this and I really liked the size of her stripes so I decided to follow her measurements. I forgot the grey color we chose from Home Depot but we used flat paint.

This turned out to be an evening project of taping, painting and doing touch ups. We decided to hang the rod up higher with the new curtains.

I love how they look now! So much better and I love how cheap this project was. There’s no way I was going to spend $200+ on striped curtains from Crate & Barrel.

I’m sooo good at keeping up with my blog, aren’t I? It’s been a long month for both Tyler and I.

At the beginning of February, Tyler was laid off from work. I took the news harder than he did. Tyler’s a happy boy and will always think positive regarding the situation he’s in which is why I had to do all the worrying! I started freaking out and lost my appetite to spend money on food and everything else. Tyler asked me not to tell anyone about him being laid off

We immediately went over our finances and worked on a new budget that same day he got laid off. We were so fortunate that he was able to receive another paycheck for his unused vacation days. Also it helped that I had an extra income with Yellow & Savvy Design. But I hated feeling totally responsible for both of us, our animals, our home and everything that we own.

Tyler started applying for jobs every day and after a few days he had interviews lined up. He was trying to go in a different direction since he was in the pest control industry before and no longer wanted to do that. There was a veterinary compounding pharmacy only minutes away from our house that Tyler applied to before he got laid off. He had an interview and it went well. He didn’t hear back in a few days so he kept following up by calling and going back to the office. After a while, the supervisor told him that they couldn’t hire until next month since they were expanding their offices. Tyler wasn’t going to give up so 3 weeks later- he went back in the office with donuts this time. The supervisor finally called Tyler back that same day and thanked him for bringing in donuts and that he really admired his motivation for wanting to work there. He finally hired him! So yeah, we think the donuts got him the job. ;)

We are really grateful for this new job since the schedule is better and he has the weekends off now finally. Plus I get to see my man in scrubs!

We learned a lot through this experience and why having savings is really important because we didn’t have money saved for this kind of situation we were in. With our new budget, we were saving A LOT of money. I couldn’t believe it….we were always overspending on everything before. It’s stupid. Now we know better and will continue to stick to our new budget now that Tyler is working again.

Check out the mustache on the wall! We bought scrap of wood from Home Depot and printed a silhouette of a mustache and taped it on so the mustache part would still remain unpainted. A friend of mine didn’t want the mirror anymore so she gave it to me. I was more than happy to use it for the office!

Earlier this month I decided that I had enough with the carpet in our house. I truly hate it.

The picture doesn’t really show how ugly it is because I was always trying to lighten it up with Photoshop. It’s definitely not the carpet & flooring that I would have chose. We really want to take the carpet out of the family & living room and replace it all with hardwood floor and only have carpet in the bedrooms. I did some research and it turned out the hardwood flooring that we want is way more than we can afford right now. So we agreed to replace the carpet now and worry about the flooring later and when I say that…I mean in like in 10 years.

I didn’t want to figure out which carpet to get especially with how small the samples are. I really love the carpet that Katie has which is Martha Stewart’s Winterthur in Ash Bark. I fell in love with it and so did Tyler! Whoop, easiest decision made and off to Home Depot we went.

It took a while to get it ordered since we had to have them come out and measure. When we went back to Home Depot, we realized the total was $600 more than we expected. We talked to the same guy that we were working with. He was able to discount $300 from the total for us. It was nice though since installation was free. Our total came at around $3,700 which left us with a lot of extra carpet that we have stored in our garage.

Cheerio pretty much photobombed all of the pictures that I took of the carpet.

I am in love with our new carpet and it just feels like we’re in a new house now! And yes…. no shoes on my new carpet! My dad already broke this rule day #1.

Tyler and I made peanut blossoms the other night. I’m grateful to have a husband who keeps me company in the kitchen, unwrap chocolate kisses and put them on the cookies.

I can’t believe I’m 28 today. Only 2 years closer to 30. That’s not good. Where did all those years go? People stopped asking me how old I was at 21. I know I’m still young but dang…the years need to stop flying by! I still have so much I want to do before I turn 30. I better get started!

And it’s true…I broke my mom’s tailbone when I was born. Very fitting since I was a pain in the butt when I was a teenager. I love you, Momma! Thank you for putting up with me even on the 1st day.

Hope you’re all having a fabulous week and finished all of your christmas shopping because the idiot I am, I waited until the last minute like I always do every year.

I really wanted our photos taken this year for our holiday card by a photographer I know but of course she’s so talented and couldn’t squeeze us in her schedule. Another friend wanted me to take their pictures so I agreed only if she would take pictures of us too. So I went crazy and brought a lot of props! Small christmas trees, christmas lights, ornaments and some other stuff. It was fun to play a photographer for a day. I admire all of my photog friends since it’s a lot of work making sure you get enough photos and all those time spent editing them.

I just received our holiday cards overnight from Mpix and I love them! Now I got to work on mailing them out then I’ll share the pictures on here.

By the way…look at Cheerio in his new pajamas! I promise you I’m not that crazy. :)

P.S. Check out my new blog design!

I’m back! I’m sure I’ve lost followers since it has been forever since I blogged. If you’re still here, I wuv you!

I’ve been keeping myself busy with designing websites and a few weeks ago I went to the Trunk Vintage Market in Phoenix. I even bought some goodies mainly for my new girly office. Note the cute hooks in the picture above. I can’t wait to finish decorating it to share with you!

Last month I discovered a new love for dry shampoo! Now I can’t live without it. I use it almost every day. I love how my curls stay in all day. Seriously…if you haven’t tried dry shampoo yet. You must!

My parents had their backyard done and even got a new hot tub. This is the coolest hot tub I’ve ever seen! Now I give up on our backyard….there’s no way it’ll ever look better than my parents’ new backyard.

It feels good to be back on here! Please be patient with my blog since it’s outdated and needs some tweaking and a new look which will happen in the next few days!

Tyler and I had fun creating fonts this afternoon after seeing Elsie’s post about the iFontMaker app. I love her fonts and ours are nowhere as cool as the fonts she created. It’s not free though. $6.99 for the app and it’s totally worth it!

The second font that Tyler created (on the right) is Tyler’s favorite. He spent more time into that one.

I did my own font too! I’m addicted and can’t stop making fonts now! You can even download other people’s fonts from the gallery on iFontMaker. You have the option to publish your font onto the gallery or just keep it to yourself.

Obviously we’re just kidding with the prices. Here are our fonts to download if you’re interested {Tyler, Tyler2, StephAnne}. Now you all have to do this and I’d love to see the fonts you come up with!

I’m addicted to Pinterest! I’ve been seeing a lot of pins lately of people using engineering prints. Everyone was raving about how cheap it is to get 36 X 48 black & white engineering prints printed at Staples. So I knew I had to do this!

Tyler and I took pictures of each other then did Cheerio’s and picked our best ones and figured out the order that we wanted them in. I did all of this in Photoshop then sent it to Staples online. We picked it up within the hour. It only cost us around $7 with tax. What an amazing deal!

The best part was that Home Depot was just next door. We went and bought plywood, spray paint and 3M 3M Super 77 Multipurpose Adhesive for around $13.

Tyler spray painted the plywood pieces black after we cut them up (12 x 48). We cut up the pictures then used spray adhesive to put them on. We put another picture on the back of the board to try mod podge to seal the pictures. They didn’t turn out good at all because of the texture of the plywood. We just decided not to seal them as they look good already.

We hung them up in the living & dining room. We still have some more things to do in these rooms anyways. I love it! It’s pretty much the first thing people will see when they walk in.
