Knowing that Spring is just around the corner, I'm already chewing at the bit over changing out decor accessories around my home, pillows, poufs, art etc, I'm toying with fuchsia for my Spring pop of color. One of the things I'm going to tackle for sure is a new amazing piece of oversized art, there's a piece that I'm in love with right now, photography is definitely right up there on my favorites list...

This just does it for me, perfection...

I love winter for one reason and one reason only... The fashion, and although I live in Southern California there is that brief moment in time when I get to pull out my boots, leather and fur, of course it's got to be faux!!!

The festivities are over but I'm definitely not feeding those January blues, after spending a week in Palm Springs, relaxing and thinking about 2013, I know one thing for sure 2014 will be amazing, a year full of potential, I have a million and one ideas to put to work and it all started this week, hold on this will be full speed ahead...

No resolutions this year only hard work & planning...

I look at this every morning and I plan to do just that...

First things first... I began, before years end to start a healthy eating and exercising plan one of my best plans yet, keeping a food journal it helps keep me accountable and on track with my food & exercise plan.

Last year was good, but 2014 will be great...

The Holidays are here, personally my favorite time of the year and one of my busiest. Deciding what colors to use for both myself and my clients is always fun and I try to always think outside the norm, of course not that there's anything wrong with traditional, I love that too...

Be brave with color...

Think outside the box...

Look at things with a different perspective...

Use things you already own in a different way...

Decorate those walls...

Fun with gazing balls & a little faux fur...

Minimilist can be luxurious too...

Decorate with festive art...

I never say no to a deer head...

And don't forget the outside...

I do this every year, my guests grab ornaments as they enter...

First of all let me start by apologizing for being tardy with my blogging, I've been so busy with work, I'm definitely not complaining... One of my projects that I'm really excited about is this Hollywood Hills Spanish Charmer, we are bringing this one back to life both inside and out, and I can't wait for this star to shine, and make it's Hollywood debut.

Last week I was asked to stage a beautiful home that's going up for sale in Marina Del Rey, flanked on one side by the ocean and the other by the canal, the minute I stepped inside I knew it lent itself to a slightly mid-century vibe.
So off I went back to my office and started to plan the design...

Last night HGTV'S Design Star contestants were given the challenge to design a loft space for their imaginary clients, they decided that their clients would be a young, hip couple, he's a rock star she's a fashion designer, the loft was to be chic, glamorous and little rock and roll, what did you think?

My memories of spending time with my dad are as fresh as if it were yesterday, my dad is responsible for my love of decorating, the seed was instilled in me many years ago, he taught me how to paint, how to hold a hammer, use a screwdriver, how to wire a plug and also taught me how to sew, his father had taught him, all things that today I use in my business, and all things that when called for remind me of my dad and the wonderful times him and I spent together...

The day he brought me home...

My dad was always a loving, proud, and supportive father, I was incredibly lucky to have him as my dad, I miss him...

Peacock Passion...

This baby is coming home with me...

But before it takes center stage in my Master bedroom it's getting a little bit of TLC, it'll be sprayed with a couple of coats of pure white high gloss paint, and then the cushion will be covered in this amazing fuschia print that I found, it's going to be amazing... It will be the final piece in what has become my husband Massimo and I's retreat from the world. I have been wanting one of these chairs forever, ever since I stupidly allowed the one I previously owned, back in the late 80's, to be abandoned when I couldn't take it with me in a move, big mistake and i've regretted it everyday since.

Here's a little peak at an entry design I just started for my new clients, they wanted something with a little bit of an asian vibe, but they LOVE yellow, so here's the plan.

The table I've been dying to use, it's from Ballard Designs and I was so happy when they loved it too.

Right now I'm working on a commercial project by the beach, I'm creating a casual but elegant space, that when the client enters they will immediately feel relaxed and also feel spoiled. One of the products that I will be using in the space is the Louis ghost stool as you can see it will be the perfect mix of rustic and modern...

When I begin a moodboard for a client, the first thing I think about is how am I going to communicate my ideas for their space??? Pictures speak a thousand words...

I start by evoking an emotion, using a picture that represents the color palette...

Then I have pictures that represent what items I would suggest in the design...

Staying below budget on accessorizing projects...

I love doing accessorizing projects for my clients, sometimes their spaces have been completely redone but they just feel it lacks that finishing touch, those little details are missing, and only the perfect accessories will do the trick...

This was a clients entry hall table, we found the mirror at Zinc Door, the jar at Z gallerie the decorative boxes were from Homegoods we got a steal of a deal.

This was an eat in kitchen, and my client wanted something a little glamorous so we started with the table we chose a tulip table reproduction from Ikea, the white drum pendant light we found at CB2, the wallpaper was the splurge, its by Kelly Wearstler, the ghost chairs we also found reproductions at HomeQ, also keeping my clients cost down, we found these door handles at Anthropologie which added that little extra bling. The total cost for this space was $1,485.00 staying well below my clients $2,000.00 budget.

On this bathroom I helped my client choose and shop for the Carrera marble and after the bathroom was completed she called me back in to accessorize, the mirror is fantastic we found it on One Kings Lane, the stool was from West elm, the sheepskin was from Ikea, the sconces we found on Overstock and the towels, tray and lighted mirror we found them all at Homegoods for under $200.00. Keeping my clients budget of $1,500.00 in mind, this room cost $1,250.00, "Under Budget" once again.

This was a room that my client had just had painted and had ordered beautiful white slip covered sofas, she has a cute little bungalow at the beach, keeping that in mind and her $1,000.00 budget we chose a few colorful pieces to add a sophisticated but casual pop of color, the stools I found at Ballard Designs, the rug was on clearance at Rugs USA, the pillows were from Etsy, everything was done for just under $825.00, under budget once again.

I have to say that I love horses, I would have loved to have my own horse as a child, but growing up in a busy city it was not an indulgence I could enjoy, in saying that yes I have ridden, and love being on horseback, they are such graceful creatures and I find a peace when I am in their presence. Some of the art shown below captures their splendor...

The Mint Julep...

Ingredients For Each Serving:
Mint leaves
2 tablespoons Mint Syrup (see recipe below)
Crushed ice
2 tablespoons water
2 ounces good-quality Kentucky bourbon
Fresh mint sprig

Preparation:

Prepare the Mint Syrup.
Crush or muddle a few mint leaves in the bottom of an 8-ounce Mint Julep Cup (using the back of a spoon to crush mint leaves) until mixture forms a paste.
Then fill the Mint Julep Cup 1/2 full with crushed or shaved ice. Add prepared Mint Syrup, water, and bourbon. Stir until the silver cup is frosted on the outside. NOTE: A glass tumbler will not frost on the outside.
To serve, garnish with a fresh sprig of mint.

Mint Syrup:

1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup water
1 bunch fresh mint sprigs

In a medium saucepan, combine sugar and water. Boil for 5 minutes, without stirring. Remove from heat an pour over a handful of mint leaves and gently crush the mint with a spoon.

Refrigerator syrup mixture overnight in a closed jar. Remove mint leaves and continue to refrigerate. This syrup mixture will keep for several weeks.

Substitution for Mint Syrup: Purchase a bottle of mint syrup (used for flavoring espresso drinks and Italian sodas). NOTE: Mint Syrup is easier to use, but the taste isn't as great!

Makes enough syrup for approximately 8 servings.

I'm slowly working on my clients beautiful Spanish Hollywood Hills home, we're going room by room with lots of soft gray silks and velvets, polished silvers and crystal, zebra and a little white leather, my pop of color is yellow, it instantly brightens this home and adds a little modern to this traditional beauty...
