LX3 - FIRMWARE VER2.1

The LX3's firmware 2.0 has been replaced by the 2.1 firmware and can be downloaded on the Japanese Panasonic page at panasonic.jp

This update is a stable one and includes tones of small improvements such as an improved auto white balance, a faster autofocus, a 1:1 aspect ratio mode, a new white balance bracket, a highlights display in playback mode, and much more.

Many readers have been asking questions about a future version of the LX3.
Few months ago, the LX3 blog predicted what now became the new GF1. Panasonic had the choice to design a new camera from scratch but they seemed to have used their main inspiration from the LX3. So wouldn't it be an aka LX4? On the other hand. It makes sens not to have followed the LX line as the GF1 integrates another technology. Big question is, will we see a future LX4 at all?

After more than one year we finaly see the first real competition to the LX3. Canon's S90 seams to be a serious camera, integrating one feature that was highy demanded in our LX3 poll, the manual focus ring. What we can see is that Canon really got inspired by the LX3!

LX3 - MICRO FOUR-THIRDS VERSION "GF1"

Many of us where wondering about an upcoming LX4, with the introduction
of the micro four-thirds technology it was predictable to think of an LX4 with interchangeable lenses, well it is not called LX4 but GF1. As you can see it looks more then familiar to the LX3. Real question is, will the four-third models kill the high-end compact cameras or in other words , will an LX4 ever exist?
It will depend on the GF1's success. More info soon....

The LX3 photography blog has reached 100.000 page views and 53.000 unique visitors this month. I am so glad to see that amount growing every month and see people from all over the world! The LX3 cannont be considered as a new camera but after more then a year of it's release it still attracts and fascinates more and more photographers. Nowadays we are used to reject technology so fast and consider our cameras as obsolete. I am so happy to see that the LX3 somehow stands out and just lives in it's own category if I may say. I belive that it just integrates so many interesting aspect and features that opens new creative doors and just delivers great quality.
