Focus on the Big Picture: BOS suggests that businesses abandon the traditional “strategic planning report” so common in the waters of “red ocean” businesses. Instead, it recommends the creation of a “strategic canvas” where the big picture of a business’ goals is crafted in more broad strokes. Furthermore, the authors caution against focusing solely on “the numbers.”

This advice is directly applicable to good social media strategy. When implementing your social media plan, you should be more concerned with creating great content that builds strategic relationships, not worrying about how many followers you have.

In what is likely his final interview before leaving Warner Music, Bronfman defended Spotify’s ability to drive more value for artists and labels. “Everywhere we look, Spotify is incrementally positive,” Bronfman said. Later in the discussion he ...

Streaming held back
But the picture is actually surprising as the availability of legal streams for 2010 box office winners has dropped in the last 12 months. On their face, one might expect sales of legal online streams to see patterns similar to sales of DVDs, even if they would trail the plastic medium. But what’s surprising here is that it appears studios have decided to pull their movie catalogs back offline.

This is what happens in digital distribution. Prices come down, markets expand, customers see lower prices and broader availability. Producers do better. Everyone else does worse.

Suggestions include throttling the speed as usage increases (technically difficult) to banning them from ever using GiffGaff again, with every poster charmingly convinced that they themselves could never form part of the disruptive one per cent. This is despite the fact that GiffGaff won't say how much data that one percent is consuming.

Back to my original thought, getting started with gadgets, you now have a much higher chance of an interconnected device. The so called “internet of things” is coming,
