I'm trying to fix up a nice but recently neglected old Browning .22, probably from the 1920s, so that it will actually shoot and otherwise hold together. Among other issues, it has a split at the neck of the stock (I think that is the correct term, neck) which makes it wobble slightly when it's being aimed and especially when the action is worked. I'm looking for the best glue to hold the split closed but am a little uncertain about which is the best glue to use on the old walnut, which has over the past nearly 100 years been well soaked in gun oil and goodness knows what else in the way of waxes and polishes. Advice please!

Some of you may know already I have no great love for TRW parts because I think generally speaking they are over priced. I wanted a TRW hammer once to complete a TRW trigger group and refused to pay 70 plus dollars folks were asking. I waited and swapped straight up for a Winchester hammer I had lying around. Since then my loathing for anything for TRW has increased simply because of the overpricing in an already expensive hobby. Well over this past weekend i was perusing the web I came across a TRW barrel for $118 plus shipping. As much as I seem to loathe TRW I couldn't pass up a good deal. 10 Bucks shipping later it arrived. I half expected it to be shot out. It gauges as good as any barrel I have ever seen. The only minor issue if you can call it that is some minor peening near the gas cylinder splines. Gas Cylinder fits nice and tight. Anyway here's a few pics of my el cheapo barrel.

Hi guys, Im looking at getting a bipod setup on my M25. I was checking out this adapter here:

http://www.harrisbipods.com/HB2R.html

But I am not quite sure how exactly this is supposed to mount to the stock. Is it supposed to replace the sling plate or should it mount into the hole forward of the sling plate?

Speaking of, isnt that hole supposed to remain unobstructed?

Also, if anyone has any recommendations for bipods or adapters Id love to hear them. Been looking at Harris, considering Bobro but they seem a bit pricey to me.

Think of this thread as sister to the one I started about instant mashed potatoes, from which I got some good suggestions about other uses for those flakes. Here, I'm not referring to the just add hot water little packets of artificially flavoured oat crap, but rather to the big box version of oatmeal that requires a minute or more of cooking and actually is close to the real thing (which is steel cut oats that have to be cooked for 10-15 minutes or more). Quaker Oats is a popular brand. I've always stockpiled largish amounts of quick oats and have regarded them as the other nearly complete food from potatoes- that would be my Scots side coming out; oats are historically a Scottish staple food item. Any feedback or suggestions?

- A federal judge in New Mexico has sentenced a gun dealer to five years in prison for supplying a ring that smuggled arms to Mexican cartels.
Dealer Ian Garland was the second of 14 people charged in the conspiracy to be sentenced. All have pleaded guilty.
Other defendants include the former police chief, former mayor and a former trustee from the New Mexico border town of Columbus.
Federal prosecutors say the defendants smuggled about 200 firearms to Mexican drug gang members, some of which showed up at murder scenes and drug seizures. Garland's lawyer pushed for a lesser sentence, saying that despite his guilty plea, Garland thought the guns were for former Columbus trustee Blas Gutierrez, to whom he had sold guns in the past after performing mandatory background checks.
My questions is should I add the addition Smith Enterprises Muzzle brake. I am afraid that it might actually push the barrel below my intended target after shooting.
I am trying to make this into a pretty competitive 3 gun platform. Shooting fast on on the move.
Thanks for the advise.

I'm just curious, I haven't been able to find an exact weight of an original issues USGI M14 that would have been issued during the m14's first deployment. I'm wanting to know how much an M14 weighed without scope/sling/magazine/bayonet. Just as is, out of the crate.

The reason I ask, is because I'm not sure if I want a M1A standard (9.3lbs) or a M1A loaded (9.8lbs). One thing that'll help me decide is which one is closer to the original weight GI1
