I’d like to thank everyone who made it to our Christmas party on December 18th at Union Chapel. We all had a fantastic time and enjoyed some amazing food. A special thanks goes out to Shannon, Bill, Diana, and Greg for providing the delicious ham and other tasty dishes. I’d also like to express our gratitude to Union Chapel for allowing us to use their facility for this special event.

MAARC Meeting August 6:30 - 8 PM Business Meeting and Presentation HSMM nodes.

For the August Meeting their will be a Presentation/ demo on HSMM. HSMM is specicial firmware that can be loaded on old Wrt54g Routers to create a Mesh network using the 2.4ghz band.

The HSMM firmware also allows for nodes to connect with AREDN nodes as well. If you want to get started with HSMM just Bring a compatible model with you to the meeting and I would be glad to help you install the firmware.

NWS STORM SPOTTER CLASS - There will be a National Weather Service Storm Spotter Class in Delaware County on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at EMS Station 3 at 18:00 hours. This is typically a 2 hour class. EMS Station 3 is located at 4501 E Memorial DR, Muncie IN, just East of HWY 3 Bypass.

As many of you know, Mike Brandt (KA9CXY) is a Silent Key. Mike was an avid Amateur radio operator as well as volunteer for many community based organizations. Mike volunteered many years working with local 4-H, Sherrif’s summer day camp for local kids, Hunter education, and several emergency services to name a few. Mike worked many years in the Delco Remy/Delphi engineering department in Anderson.

Mike had accumulate a lot of Amateur Radio related equipment/antennas/testers/ETC and just stuff.

Terry Evans (WD9HQH) and Gerald Hertle (WA9AGG) are assisting Mike’s widow in selling some of Mike’s amateur radio equipment and related items. Listed below are some of the items for sale. There is a LOT MORE but just to much to list. We will be having a Mini-HAMFEST / ESTATE SALE on Saturday July 16 at Mikes home . (1549 W County Road 50 N, New Castle, IN 47362) starting at 9 a.m. to sell items. We will also sell items on an individual basis prior to July 16. You won’t want to miss this opportunity to get some Amateur Radio items at very good prices. We have listed some negotiable target prices BUT NO REASONABLE OFFER WILL BE DECLINED. We tried to list the targets well below what is selling on eBay. Prices will be very aggressive to sell but need to be fair as the proceeds go to Mike’s widow.

Don’t be afraid to make offers but again “reasonable”. The purpose of the mini-hamfest is to sell all the items. Mike’s widow has no use for this equipment.

Please understand that we have NOT been able to test all of the items so this is an AS IS sale. Some we have tested and so far all have been good. We even tested a very old Radio Shack weather radio and IT WORKED. Some of the items are not in good condition and it is obvious.

February Foxhunt Results
Drew, K9HMX hosted the Muncie February Foxhunt. KB9ZUV and KB7ZGB teamed up and were first to find the fox in 36 minutes.

April Operating Event
Planning continues for the April Parks on the Air "Support Your Parks Spring Event". The group has reserved the Sunset Shelter at Summit Lake State Park. Come join us at the park April 17th from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. We will be operating from the park. We will be providing pizza for dinner. There is a $7 admission charge per car entering the park. 2021 Weather Spotting Training
Registration is open for the 2021 Spotter Training. This year training is live online training sessions. There are 6 sessions in March to pre-register for. Training lasts approximately 2 hours.

2021 Winter Field Day
Did you participate in Winter Field Day? I went camping and had a great time at the event, other than some engine trouble while trying to leave the park. If you participated, logs are due by March 1st, 2021.

QSO Today Virtual Ham Expo

ISS Slow Scan TV event Dec 24 - 31, 2020

December 22, 2020 — An ARISS Slow Scan TV (SSTV) event is scheduled from the International Space Station (ISS). This will be a special SSTV event to celebrate the 20th anniversary of ARISS on board the International Space Station. The event is scheduled to begin on December 24 at 16:40 UTC and continue through December 31 ending at 18:15 UTC. Dates are subject to change due to ISS operational adjustments.

Images will be downlinked at 145.8 MHz +/- 3 KHz for Doppler shift and the expected SSTV mode of operation is PD 120. Radio enthusiasts participating in the event can post images they receive at the ARISS SSTV Gallery at https://www.spaceflightsoftware.com/ARISS_SSTV/ .

After your image is posted at the gallery, you can acquire a special award by linking to https://ariss.pzk.org.pl/sstv/ and follow directions for submitting a digital copy of your received image.
