320GB Serial ATA Drive @ 7200 rpm
I will mainly use this computer on 2D and 3D CAD softwares, like Autocad and Solidworks.
Dell M4400 has NVIDIA Quadro and Intel Quad Core, which has superior performance than MBP.
On the other hand Mac is a lot reliable (stable, virus free, longer battery life) than Windows (from what I've heard. I haven't used mac). If I ever choose MBP, I still have to use boot camp to use the windows native cad software like solidworks.

I recently joined the fold when I got my first MacBook Pro (2.8ghz, 4gb ram). My plan was to supplement this with a larger displayed desktop and I'm trying to decide which solution that would be.

I have tons of mini-DV tapes I need to edit, and a ridiculously large photo collection so far from my daughter growing up that I need to organize, clean up and manage. I do web design and graphic design on the side so I use Photoshop/Illustrator a lot - and there you have my criteria for why I made the switch from PC to Mac. (Which I'm loving BTW!)

I've been looking at 3 possible solutions to supplement my laptop.

1. Get the 24" LED display and external keyboard (already have the Mighty Mouse which I'm not loving...) and connect to my current MacBook Pro.

2. Get the 24" iMac with max CPU and better video card.

3. Get the 2.66Ghz or 2.93GHz (Seems like a pricey upgrade) Mac Pro and use my current, tired 24" Dell monitor from my PC for now.

I'm sure any of the three solutions would work for me in one way or the other. I definitely need a bigger, more stationary work space for photo editing and web design. The 15" MBP is just a little small for some of that work.

I like the idea of the Mac Pro with it's expandability and upgrades, which should prolong it's life - making it more cost efficient over time.

I love the look and feel of the iMac with it's all-in-one integrated powerhouse. I do recognize that most parts within it are the same as the MBP and because of the compact design they are also mostly mobile solutions which wouldn't stack up to the Mac Pro, but should easily handle the jobs I do.

Since the iMac doesn't come with the LED back lit Cinema display and I've seen it in action I really like that too however not being able to run two of them could be an issue. With the iMac I can connect my 24" Dell as a secondary display and with the Mac Pro you have even more options.

So yeah, that's my dilemma and I'd love to get some input from the community on this. Maybe someone went down a similar road and can share their experience with me.

I apologise in advance to anyone who is sick of reading threads about iPhone cases. I am certainly sick of looking for one.

I'm waiting on my new 3GS which is due to arrive in the mail in the next few days. I didn't bother upgrading to 3G, so I'm making the jump to 3GS straight from my first gen iPhone - a phone which is now severely damaged. Cracked right across the screen, aerial cover missing, dents, chips and scratches aplenty. It's my own fault because I'm so careless and always attempt to carry ten things at a time, but I'd like to ask if anyone can recommend a good case that is both protective and stylish?

I don't want anything that is made of rubber, or looks like a snake, or that is pink. Nothing with ripples, swirls or feathers. Just a plain, transluscent case that will offer some protection to the phone. I can't believe how difficult it is to find one of these. I've trawled through tens of pages on eBay to no avail.

If anyone could make any recommendations I'd be very grateful! Thank you.

Hello!
I have a 2006 Mac Book Pro running Leopard and I recently tried to install Windows XP Home SP2 through Boot Camp. At first I set the partition at the minimum of 5GB and Windows would not install. I then upped the partition to 10GB, and it will still not install. Windows goes through the whole setup, and then when it says "windows is starting up" it chugs away for about 30 seconds and comes up with the dreaded Windows blue screen that says "initialization failed." I tried installing my friend's version of XP pro, and that seemed to install fine, but I can't use that version because my S/N is for Home Edition. I also tried another Home disc with similar blue screen results.
Any ideas? Thanks!

This is what happened. The mac was beside my bed, and i fell off the bed and landed kind of on top of it. It had the screen open... I didn't notice anything until today, but now i just can't believe it.

It is bent in the bottom right corner. First i noticed the trackpad was kind of dent in, it made the click a little weird to click (on the right corner), and it bothered me, but i got over it, it still worked. Then when i showed a friend, he pointed out it was bent. Oh my god, he was right. As you can see in the pics, the corner totally sticks out. I usually have it on my iLap, but if i put it on the table it wobbles, since it isn't straight anymore. And the worst is when i close the screen, this huge gap is left between the bottom part of the mac and the display.

So far i haven't noticed any functionality problems, so far. Since its the unibody, i guess if i had it replaced i would have to replace the whole body, meaning almost the entire mac. Its about 6 months old. I had never even bumped it before! :( I guess its pointless to take it to apple since they probably can't do anything for it............. i guess i'm gonna have to live with it! Any thoughts??
