Financing is a major concern while buying heavy construction equipment. Most of the companies look out for times when the interest rates are low and they can strike a good bargain. In developing countries the rate of economic growth determines the external investments. A healthy growing economy attracts heavy foreign investments. Thus since the financial inflows are more the interest rates are much low. Thus buying heavy construction equipments or taking them as rentals is much more economical.

After the opening up to the markets and signing of the GATT agreement by most of the countries there has been increase in the competition and reduction in cost of equipments. Moreover, the heavy construction equipments have been manufactured at more locations than before. Heavy construction equipment is also available on rent. These can be leased out easily from the domestic market. It is much more beneficial to take the heavy construction equipment on rent or on least for a day or few days rather than purchase them and then sell them at lower cost or carry overheads like transportation, maintenance, etc. Buying heavy construction equipment is not much preferred option. Rough terrain crane : A crane that is mounted on an undercarriage with four rubber tires, designed for operations off road. The outriggers extend vertically and horizontally to level and stabilize the crane when hoisting. These types of cranes are single engine machines where the same engine is used for powering the undercarriage as it is for powering the crane. In these types of cranes, the engine is normally mounted in the undercarriage rather than in the upper portion.

Loader crane : A loader crane is a hydraulically powered articulated arm fitted to a trailer, used to load equipment onto a trailer. The numerous sections can be folded into a small space when the crane isn’t in use.

Overhead crane : Also refered to as a suspended crane, this type is normally used in a factory, with some of them being able to lift very heavy loads. The hoist is set on a trolley which will move in one direction along one or two beams, which move at angles to that direction along elevated or ground level tracks, often mounted along the side of an assembly area. In the excavation world, cranes are used to move equipment or machinery. Cranes can quickly and easily move machinery into trenches or down steep hills, or even pipe. There are many types of cranes available, serving everything from excavation to road work. Cranes are also beneficial to building bridges or construction. For many years, cranes have proven to be an asset to the industry of construction and excavating. Crane operators make really good money, no matter what type of crane they are operating.

John Deere is mostly famous for its range of tractors. It manufactures about 13 different series of them, from 18HP to 450HP. We shall examine the pros and cons of its smallest model in greater detail, as it is the most relevant to amateur gardeners: the 2210 4WD compact tractor.The liquid cooled diesel engine is economical to run and provides a respectable 23HP. This nifty attachment comes with a curved in surface blade with heavy gauge construction and the rear of the blades feature a reinforced angle for additional strength. You can even tilt it by 30 degrees for increased effectiveness: it allows you to shift or level soil as required.

By 1959, the company released its first rubber-tired front-end loader, the model 944A Traxcavator. The loader was first unveiled to the companys board of directors as the T101, at a special demonstration at its Phoenix Proving Ground in February 1956.Though not a large machine, its standard bucket capacity of 2 cubic yards put it right in contention with a host of similar-sized machines from other Construction Equipment manufacturers.The unit’s four- wheel-drive drivetrain, rigid frame and rear steering wheels were design features well accepted in the industry.

Caterpillar equipments was looking for the perfect sized wheel loader design to get its latest product line off to a good sales start, and found it in the 944A.But the model 944A was just the tip of the iceberg as far as Caterpillar was concerned. In 1960, the company introduced two more rigid frame wheel loaders to keep the 944A company.The model 922A was slightly smaller, carrying a 1 1/4-cubic-yard bucket. The other model, the 966A was larger than the 944A. It was equipped with a 2 3/4-cubic-yard bucket. All three of these loaders were sized for general contracting work. Big quarry and mining wheel loaders they were not.

But Caterpillar was taking a cautious approach to this new market. The limited number of model types fielded in the first few years allowed the company time to gain market share.

First of all, there is always going to be a need for road repairs, bridge maintenance, and new constructions will continue to be needed. The government alone spends billions of dollars on construction projects each year and there does not seem to be any inclination that they will slow down. New housing developments are being created everyday in all areas of the country, as there is continually a housing shortage. The construction business is thriving.

The September 11th attacks of terrorism on the United States have had impacts on every industry in the United States and the construction industry is no exception. Due to Homeland Security, many such developments have been redesigned to further their safety in case of an act of terrorism and even moved to a different location if they are near an area that might be a target. However, the construction industry has not slowed down and it is as strong as ever.

The fact is the construction industry is the largest service industry in the United States. Due to the demand placed on the construction industry, most construction companies are constantly looking for individuals who are qualified to work in this field. Many individuals, however, are not qualified and they start on the bottom, hoping to get trained in areas where there is better pay.

Where do individuals wishing to get a heavy equipment operator’s education stand? With new developments and construction projects continuing to thrive, the heavy equipment operator will always have a job. In order to complete the new construction jobs, there must be someone to run the heavy equipment.

Unfortunately, with all of the natural disasters that have taken place in the United States alone, such as the flooding in California, the tornadoes in the mid-west and the hurricanes along the east coast, the construction business will continue to thrive. From road repairs and bridge reconstruction and new housing developments to commercial developments, construction companies will continually be looking for workers that are qualified.

Caterpillar had to reengineer its over-100-hp excavators because the EPA’s Tier 3 emissions limits apply to that size class in 2007, but they wanted more marketable features than just cleaner engines. Surveying excavator customers revealed a simple, overriding expectation: Do more with less. Cat responded by adding engine power, hydraulic power and weight to its D Series machines so they could do more than the C-Series machines they replace.
The 322C L becomes the 324D L. The C’s 3126B diesel is replaced by a C7, rated at 188 horsepower — a 12 percent increase that raises the 324 to the same power rating as the 325C. The 325D L also swaps the 3126B for a C7, this time rated at 204 horsepower, for a 9 percent increase in power. And the C9 in the 330D L has been turned up to 268 horsepower.

Caterpillar boosted hydraulic power by raising system-operating pressure to 5,080 psi. Stick digging forces have increased from 5 to 9 percent, depending on the machine, and bucket digging forces are up 4 to 13 percent. Cat claims the changes improve cycle times by 4 percent and bucket fill factor by 8 percent.

The C Series eliminated work modes but Cat reintroduced one mode, a lifting mode, for the Ds. It increases hydraulic pressure 5 percent to 5,080 psi to give the machine more power for heavier picks, while reducing flow to improve control.

The 325D L lays down 8 inches longer track than the 325C L, and offers a new 12 foot-4 inch stick option.

The optional Tool Control System for auxiliary work tools will now allow operators to store flow and pressure settings for 10 attachments using the monitor in the cab. The new Pin Grabber Plus is a cast-steel quick coupler to replace the fabricated coupler. The design is compatible with existing Cat work tools and many competitive attachments. It also allows the operator to turn the bucket around to use like a shovel.

The new monitor is a full color liquid crystal display that can be adjusted to minimize glare. The graphical display is easier to read and navigate than the C-Series monitor — for both operators and maintenance people.

To improve serviceability and reduce maintenance costs, hydraulic return-oil filter service is doubled to 2,000 hours. Oil-pressure and sampling ports have been added to the hydraulic system, and all electric wires and connectors on the D Series are color and number coded. Cat maintained the 500-hour engine-oil change interval on the ACERT engines without increasing oil-sump capacity.

The story of CAT dates back to the late 19th century, when Daniel Best and Benjamin Holt were experimenting with different ways to fulfill the promise that steam tractors held for farm work. Prior to 1925, the Holt family had pioneered track tractors and gasoline powered engines. After the companies of Best and Holt were merged, the company went through several changes then at the end of World War 2, they began to grow at a very fast pace, launching the first venture outside of the country in 1950, which marked the beginning of CAT development into a big corporation.

CAT equipment ranges from track type tractors to hydraulic excavators, backhoes, motor graders, off road trucks, wheel loaders, tractors, diesel and gas engines, and gas turbines. CAT equipment is used in construction, excavation, building roads, mining, energy, forestry, transportation, and material handling companies.

CAT almost went down in the early 1980s due to the massive union strikes and a down turn in product demand. At the time, several news reports indicated that products were piling up so high in facilities that temporary workers hired to work the lines could barely get to their stations to perform their jobs.

In the 1990s, CAT suffered yet another long strike in which the company hired what it deemed to be permanent replacements for union workers that were on strike. During both strikes, jack rocks were placed in the home entrances of many of CATs top executives and employees, puncturing> the tires of their vehicles and making things worse for the company.

The 190 and 1110 Robot skid steers are available with wheels or high-drive rubber track systems. The units feature a single loader arm mounted in a low-level, single tower on the right-hand side of the machine. This design provides greater visibility with an unhindered view to the rear and right-hand side. With no left-hand loader tower, visibility is completely clear to the left side of the loader.
