Hello to all,

I've got a Gmail IMAP account that I use on both my MBP and my iPhone / iPad.

I've noticed, however, that messages I sent from my iPhone / iPad don't show up in the sent items on my MBP and vice versa.

After reading a few articles, I think I fixed the problem by expanding the folder tree for the account on my MBP and highlighting the sent items folder for that account down at the bottom left of the screen, then clicking on Mailbox > Use this mailbox for... > Sent.

Seems like that did the job.

The problem I have now, though, is that I use Google Apps for my business account and I have the same problem. I'm considering doing the same thing as above for this account, but I'm worried about what will happen to my messages. I do almost all of my business correspondence from my MBP, so have all my important business mails in the Mail.app created sent items folder for that account.

If, however, I go down to the bottom left of the screen and expand the folder tree for my business account, I have a Sent Messages folder at the bottom of the list that contains all the messages I've sent from my iPhone and iPad.

If I go through the same procedure as I did for my personal account, what will happen to all the sent mails in the Mail.app default sent items folder (the majority of my sent mails for my business)? Will they be seamlessly merged with the sent items in the "new" sent items folder or will they be wiped out completely and replaced by only the mails I've sent from my mobile devices?

All good advice appreciated,

I recently woke up my computer from the sleep mode & clicked on the Safari icon in the dock. It tried to launch, (visible in the menu bar). And then I got the message " The application Safari quit unexpectedly". I tried the relaunch & the reset buttons, but got the same results. I used Disk Utility & Disk Warrior. I restarted from my backup drive & Safari worked fine, so I dragged & dropped the safari.plist into the main hard drive hoping this would fix the problem. Unfortunately nothing I've tried worked. I'm using another browser to get help on your web site.

In my old home office I was using an old Powermac G5 running Tiger (not server) as a local fileserver, connected to our network via a gigabit switch. I was able to work directly on files off the server - pretty big photos, Photoshop documents, zipping/unzipping files - with very little perceived slowness due to working over the network.

In my new "real" office we are using an Iomega Storcenter IX2 and I'm connecting to it via a Cisco gigabit switch. Performance seems much slower - longer to mount volumes, longer to transfer files, and working on live files they are slower to open and save.

Our office is tiny - usually just me + one other person, and nobody else uses the Iomega box. We do have a VPN but that is only involved when talking to the network from outside, and it isn't between me and the Iomega.

Where might the bottleneck be in this system? The Iomega? Slow operating system or something physical about the device? Perhaps a Mac as file server is just inherently faster when I'm on a Mac? Or could the Cisco switch be slowing things somehow? Or perhaps the VPN being on the network is sucking the life out of things somehow?

Also how can I test it? I can ping it of course, but what's a good way to test transfer rate/speed (or whatever)?

Thanks - looking forward to finding a way to improve this situation.

I recently bought a Canon S100 camera that shoots HD video and took it on a vacation trip. This was my first experience with HD video.

The camera produces video in .mov format at 1080p. The clips have been culled and copied to files on the hard drive, where they play perfectly well at full size in Quicktime. When imported into iMovie HD 6.03, however, iMovie HD converts them to standard definition. I have gone over and over all the iMovie settings and can't find a reason why iMovie HD won't accept these as HD videos. The only thing I have thought of is that the camera is using a codec that didn't exist when iMovie HD was coded.

Using Toast 11 Titanium and a trial copy of iSkysoft Video Converter (whose web site claims to solve exactly this problem) I converted files to every 1080p format that seemed likely to work. In all cases, iMovie either didn't recognize the format or it imported and converted to standard definition.

iMovie '11 imports the videos properly at 1080p. However, I want access to the titles and transitions in iMovie HD.

Has anyone seen and solved a problem like this? I have put a sample of my video at

I have two or three Apple IDs collected over some years. Now, when there is a software update, the App Store insists that I must log in with my old mac.com ID that I haven't used in years. I don't know what the password is, and when I click "forgot your password" the email is sent to some email account that I no longer have. When I log on using my active Apple ID and try to get an update the App Store insists I have to log on using the mac.com address.

Apple's web site and help have been useless in trying to solve this. Can anyone tell me how I can find out what Apple IDs I have and then kill all but one of them?

I installed a new copy of Mountain Lion 10.8.3
I used Migration Assistant to migrate everything.
Everything seems to work except:
Cannot Update/change/add to/ KEYCHAIN
I CAN read all the entries.
There is a "master" LOCK ICON at the top right corner.
Each of the items[logins, certificate etc.] have lock icons also.
Nothing happens when I click on master LOCK ICON
Clicking on the various Keychains display that info but doesn't unlock.

I use the SAME PASSWORD for the new system as the OLD system from which I migrated everything.
I used Keychain First Aid to repair-Didn't fix.
