Man…Ole Laursen’s new gym is gonna be SICK!!!

Located on the top of a quiet road on the island of Boracay–it’s less than a 5 minute walk from the best white sand beaches in Asia!!!

Ole Laursen a K-1 Max veteran and One FC superstar is just starting the construction phase to put up the new rings-workout area-and some housing for people wanting to visit the Philippines and train.

One thing that is disheartening in Asia is how people treat their animals…

The construction workers building Ole’s gym in Boracay adopted two puppies despite Ole’s protest.

These two little puppies were probably a bit too young to be taken away from their mothers…And it’s obvious they haven’t been cared for properly.

Wanting to get them checked up…Bianca and myself brought them to the vet today…

One of them passed away in the shoebox on the trip to the doctor…which is always difficult to deal with.

The other one is healthy but was diagnosed with Scabies…a nasty skin problem…passed down from the mother.

Treatment is 4 weeks worth of injections. Today we picked up some vitamins and puppy food while getting the first injection done and scheduling her follow up appointments.

Hopefully the construction workers will take better care of this cute puppy…if not…they might learn how effective BJJ is!!!

After practice yesterday Ole showed this cool variation of a choke from mount…which we affectionately named the 50% Pinoy choke!!

Today was a bit of a recovery day where we spent the afternoon snorkeling and swimming before grabbing some lunch and hitting the weight room.

Glad tomorrow is Friday…cause my body is broken and in need of some rest!!

Got in yesterday to the island of Boracay and today was my first official day of training…started off the morning with some weight training and an ocean swim before my afternoon recovery nap…

This evening we drilled some guard passes before rolling–>and then practice ended with One FC fighter and K-1 Max veteran Ole Laursen holding 3 rounds of pads for me.

Looking forward to training tomorrow…these guys are a great group to train with!

Amazing! Crystal clear water…untouched Coral Reef…tropical palm trees…

Having fought as a pro in either Muay Thai-MMA-or BJJ in over 10 different countries during the course of my career…I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to travel.

I have never seen a place more beautiful than Boracay…the white sand beaches here are on a whole-nudda-level!!!

Off to lift weights with One FC star Ole Laursen this afternoon before hitting the legacy gym this evening for a bit of boxing and Bjj training with the boys.

The brackets changed a bit with Brazilian Oswaldo Neto removing his name from the competition and Yesterday’s Black Belt Champion Rodrigo Caparol taking his place.

Caporal caught me with a quick Achilles lock from the butterfly guard. Parental Advisory in 5—4—3—2—1….Fawk Shyt Cock Balls!!!

Watching the match I’ve already reviewed a few errors in my leg lock defense and will use the dent in the ego armor as an opportunity to brush up on some more defensive strategies…(One of the benefits I’ll get from helping Adam Kayoom prepare for Gregor Gracie is working with multiple black belts)

With his two submission victories today, Rodrigo became the 2012 Gi and Nogi Pan Asian Champion in the Philippines.

Winning the first round bye I was “awarded” a silver medal as a contestant prize. Would have been nice to have had a few matches before Caporal, however the real reward here is the experienced gained from competing and the training I put towards preparing for the event…I’m better tomorrow because of today.

Congrats to Oscar who earned his 3rd and 4th stripes on his white belt for taking Silver Yesterday in the Gi and Gold today Nogi…with 5 total submissions during the two days!!!

Rodrigo Caparal and Makoto fought for their 6th time this year in the opening round of the Black Belt Gi division with Rodrigo winning via submission.

On the other end of the bracket Oswaldo Neto defeated Erick Bothsombat by mounted choke. Props to Erick a Rodrigo Black Belt for a strong fight. Oswaldo had a significant weight advantage.

In the finals Caporal looked to even the score defeating Oswaldo by decision. (missed some of this match as I was cornering Mark Simmerman of Q23 Academy)

Caporal only entered the Gi portion of the tournament this year…so unfortunately I wont have an opportunity to play against him Nogi.

Tomorrows Elite Nogi division will only have 3 competitors…via luck of the draw I will be paired up with the winner of Oswaldo Neto Vs Chris Ng for a 10 minute Superfight in the finals.

Chris Ng has a good guard, but will be giving up size-strength-and a bit of experience against the 200lbs+ Brazilian…should make for an interesting matchup to decide my opponent.

I haven’t done a grappling tournament in awhile…so I’m just looking forward to the opportunity to compete and play my game against other high level players in the region. Excited for tomorrow…and have already laid out my work clothes!!
