What’s the secret of the Criss Angel walks on water magic trick? How he does it? The secret will most likely points to illusion and camera video editing. The most convincing explanation to the trick is that Criss Angel was walking on some kind of floating device, or plexiglass, or perspex platform, or transparent plastic bridge, or glass path, or vertical poles, which may have some gaps for swimmers to occasionally swim across it. Some also suggested that wires support was been used to hang him, which may be positioned under his arm, especially on the first 25 seconds or so. For all these tricks and optical illusion to happen, so all the ‘audiences’ and ’swimmers’ in the video are actually the actors in the magic that were hired to add realistic and believable feel. The video may be edited by using CGI to hide the think platform in the water.

Some even suggested that the shots were taken on different times that is edited together to give you that illusion of reality. The theory is that because at some times he demonstrated no weight hitting the surface, while on the far away shots, his weight is visible as he hits a surface. Another theory is that the toes on his back foot bend as walking on a flat surface, while on another sequence of the video which supposedly shot from Criss Angel’s camera as he looks down while walking, his toes no longer bend. This magic theory summarily said that during normal angles of video shooting, Criss was walking on plexiglass under the water surface, but for the video angles above him and shoot from Criss’s point-of-view angles were done when he was hanging above the water.

Some interesting points highlighted from the video on the magic are:

1. Criss Angel walked on his heels and his pant hung down and covered the heels.
2. His walking style looks unreal and unnatural on the front part of the magic.
3. The girl in red bikini swam underneath the water instead of crossing the path.
4. Water line on his pants changed, if you believe that the magic sequence was shot in multiple times.
5. A girl crossed between his legs after he took down his shoes, so the area may be without any platform.
6. In some shots, Criss Angel didn’t show weight hitting or weight shifting when stepped down, which made suspension possible.
7. His feet seemed like not stay in a position when stepping.

Climbing Ring

The Effect: Take a rubber band and thread a borrowed finger ring onto it. The ring is sitting in the center of the band, but then slowly creeps up the rubber band, all by itself!

What You Need: A rubber band, not a real thick one, and a borrowed ring.

The Method: This trick almost works by itself. Actually, the rubber band does the trick, but you take the credit! Break the rubber band. You now have a long piece. Borrow a ring. Thread the ring onto the rubber band, but stretch the rubber band (not all the way; about 12" between your hands) and keep most of the rubber band in your left hand. When you do this, you will have a long, loose piece dangling hidden in your left palm. The spectators won't see this as the back of your hands are towards them. Your hands should be at the same level so that the rubber band is horizontal.
Make sure that the ring is closer to right fingers, but not touching the fingers, about an inch away. Raise your right hand and allow the ring to fall towards your left hand and say, "Anyone can make the ring fall down. But I can make the ring fall up!" Allow the ring to fall within an inch of your left fingertips. Gently ease the grip on the rubber band with your left fingers allowing the rubber band to slide between your left fingertips. Don't worry; they won't see this. (You'll actually fool yourself the first time you do this!) The ring will move up the rubber band as if it were on an escalator. Return the ring, give the rubber band out as a souvenir and bow to your thunderous applause!

Rip A Phonebook In Half

Want to show off your strength at the next party? There are few strongman tricks so impressive as ripping a phonebook in half with your bare hands. Try doing this trick magic it, however, and no matter how strong you are, it will be nearly impossible. With the right technique, though, almost anyone can frighten foes and dazzle everyone around them with this trick.

1) Fold the phonebook in the center with your thumbs.
Use your thumbs to bend down the center of the phonebook. Put your thumbs close together in the middle (though still along the top edge) of the book. Push down with your thumbs so that the center of the book bends down to form a sort of crease.

2) Place your index fingers to the sides of the fold. While your thumbs will be on the top side (the front) of the book, your other fingers will all be folded over the edge so that they grip the bottom side (in other words, the back) of the book. Your index fingers (also called "pointer fingers") should be right against the sides of the fold your thumbs have created.

3)Note the tiny air spaces in the crease.
Bend the side edges of the book downward with your fingers. Keeping your thumbs (and the crease) in position, begin to bend the corners of the book down while also pushing inward on the crease. You'll feel your chest (pectoral) muscles being used if you're doing it right. The crease in the book will become more accentuated, and if you look carefully at the crease, you'll be able to see pockets of air form between the pages.

4)Begin the tear by pulling the edges downward and outward while keeping the crease folded.
Rotate your hands to tear the book. Twist the right side of the book up with your right hand while twisting the left side down with your left hand (this can be reversed depending on what's comfortable for you). Maintain a firm grip on the book at all times, and use your pectoral muscles to keep firm inward pressure on the book. The book should begin to tear.

5) Continue tearing. Rearrange your hands if necessary.
Tear through the book. If you're strong enough and maintain a good grip on the book, you may be able to rip the book all the way down the center of its length in one shot. Otherwise you may need to reposition your hands and continue ripping less gracefully. Either way, it will be impressive

Magic Spell Card Tricks

Secret sequence of playing cards to enable every card in the deck to be located by spelling the name of the card. Amazing and convincing powerful free magic for use by card magicians.

This first sequence of cards will allow you to conjure up the card of your choice from any suit in the deck. In the example below, the spades have been set up in order for the magic spell trick to be performed with success. (You could use any of the other suits set up in the same sequence).

Set the cards in the above order so that the queen of spades is on the top of the pile when you hold them face down for dealing. You then spell A-C-E , placing one card underneath the pile for each letter of the card except for the last letter which is turned up to reveal the card you spelt.

Should you wish to successfully spell the whole deck of playing cards, then the pack should be set up in the following order.

You then spell A-C-E out loud, putting the A and C underneath the deck. You then turn the next ( E ) card face up to reveal the ace. You then continue on in this way until you have spelt the whole deck.

Levitation body

Levitation tricks are very cool. This first one is called the Balducci Levitation. David Blaine performed this on one of his T.V specials. Unfortunately we never actually got to see David perform it.

We saw the reaction from the spectators then the camera cut to David Blaine on a safety wire!

It is a shame he did not feel he could show the illusion without the use of camera trickery. It really is a great effect and so simple to do, with a little practice magic !

THE EFFECT: Amaze and amuse your friends and family with your new found ability to levitate. Gently rise about 3 - 5 inches off the ground!

THE SECRET: Stand about 8 - 10 feet in front of your spectators with your back to them and at a 45 degree angle to their view point (main pic). Basically you push yourself up on your tip toes of one foot, but keep the other straight parallel with the floor. Depending on what foot you feel most comfortable lifting your body up with, this foot will be hidden to the spectators.

I use my left foot to make me levitate so I turn 45 degrees to the right of my spectators view point. That way they can see the whole of my right foot and just the heel of my left foot. When I push up on the tip toes of my left foot the view point is such that spectators can not see it!

At their angle it looks like I am levitating. They can not see my supporting foot because it is hidden by three things my trousers, the angle of the trick and my right shoe which hides their view of the left foot being used to levitate me.

In reality you might only rise 3 - 5 inches off the ground, but it's all in your presentation! People swear you went higher. Slowly rise off the ground, wait a few seconds and then drop fast. Stay up too long and they may figure it out.
TIP: Keep your heels together while levitating, this protects your angle. Also put your arms out straight, this gives a better effect than if they are by your sides.

TIP: Angle is everything. Practice this in front of a mirror or another person. Lack of practice will give you away.

TIP: When you get really good at the effect, as you levitate add a twist, by pivoting slightly on the foot that is on the ground. This move adds a whole new dimension to the illusion and looks really cool!

TIP: Be subtle, don't just say, "I'm going to levitate now" Say something like "Now watch my feet closely, I'm going to try something".

TIP: Your spectators need to be behind you in a group, not spread out or they might see how it is done.

Levitating Cigarette

THE EFFECT: You have a cigarette in your mouth (can be anything else like a toothpick). You take the cigarette and start to balance it on your tongue! Then you move your hand magically up and down in the air and it starts moving up and down!

Now, you take the cigarette and balance it on the tip of your finger and it starts to wiggle up and down again! Suddenly, you take your hand away and it hovers in mid air. You make a circle with your fingers around it... there can't be any string! Next it starts moving in a circle in front of you, going to face level and down to the floor! Finally for the finishing act you make the cigarette float back into your mouth and walk away, or put it back in a container!

THE SECRET: Invisible thread (You can get some HERE). Take a long piece of invisible string from the top of your belly to your feet. Now, take one side, and tape it/tie it to the center of the cigarette. Take the other side and connect it with a small piece of magicians wax or tape to your right thumb nail.

Now, this part is a little confusing, but let the cigarette hang from the string connected to your thumb. Next, get your thumb and bring it to your forehead. Now, run your thumb and string across the center of your forehead all the way to the back where your neck stars.

Now move your hand across the side of your neck down to your body. So... the cigarette should now be hanging from your head, if you move your hand up, the cigarette should move down, and if you move your hand down it should rise.

Take the cigarette with your hand that does not have string and put it in your mouth as you would a normal one. Now turn to your side so the wax on your thumb isn't showing. Now with the other hand that doesn't have the wax (left hand), put it on your tongue. If your right hand is at the right level, it should balance because of the string holding it! now do the same with your finger balancing it and have fun with the rest!

TIP: Try not to move your head too much, use the hand with the wax to maneuver it up and down and the other to move it left and right!

just a touch

Mentalis magic... just for you. This effect will serve you well if you will take the time to work out some interesting patter. I will briefly summarize the effect and leave the rest to you...

Effect:
Have someone mentally select a name (or object, or favorite sports team ). Give them a writing pad with five lines drawn and ask them to write the chosen name on one of the lines. Then, four other unrelated names on the other lines.

Take the pad.. study it.. audibly call out a name and announce that you do not think that name was the chosen name. Call out two more names and tell your audience that your are sure they are not the chosen names either.

Down to the last two names.. study hard.. and announce the chosen name.

Secret:
Give your spec a RED fine-point or micro ink pen. I use a Uni-ball micro. A short time before the effect, touch the tip of the red ink pen to the felt tip of a BLACK marker, like a Sharpie.

When your spec writes their chosen name on one of the lines, the very tip of the first letter will have a "dark" appearance. If you practice for a few minutes before you perform this effect, you will learn exactly how hard to touch the tips together to achieve a virtually un-noticeable 'smudge'.

NO ONE will notice this smudge, but you.. It will appear as if it's just a little excess ink on the tip.

Again, take the time to work up a Good Story to go with this effect, and you will have a little bit of impressive mental magic to add to your repertoire...

Money Spinner Magic Trick

This magic trick magicians wont make you a fortune overnight, wont make you a tycoon in an instant, but it is great fun to watch & perform. Read the free secret, below.

EFFECT: Two coins are borrowed and examined, the Magician then takes them and says the magic words! The Magician then touches the coins together and they stick! Then with a small breath of air or a very light touch the lower coin begins to spin, still stuck to the upper coin!

The Magician then drops the coins into a spectator's hand and lets him or her examine them or try to do the trick, themselves. They cannot, as it’s impossible...unless they know the secret!

SECRET: This is one of the magic coin tricks that require a special gimmick - a small magnet! If you have one handy, that's super, if not the type you are going to need is preferably a Neodymium Magnet.

Neodymium Magnets I are the most powerful magnets in the world. They are amazingly strong but small, making them perfect for coin and close up magic tricks. And because they are so small you can hide them very easily!

The magnets are happily, not expensive and are readily available. Try a search on Google for suppliers or by searching Ebay. The size of magnets being used for this trick are 6mm dia x 3mm Neodymium Magnets. They are a perfect size for this trick.

THE METHOD: Ask your spectator for either two 1p coins or two 2p coins, hand them out for examination if you wish. ( This example uses British coins which are attracted to magnets. You can use different coins as long as they are attracted to magnets.)

Secretly conceal or ‘pinch‘ the tiny magnet between your forefinger and middle finger
of your left or right hand. (pic 1)

Relax your hand, or even bend your fingers a little . Position your other hand in a similar way and your hands will look quite

natural. Coin trick demonstration. When the spectators have finished examining the coins, take one back with the hand that is not concealing the magnet - bring it towards the concealed magnet hand and secretly let the Magnet attract the coin. Do this part slowly so that there is not a a loud 'clink' sound when the magnet and coin, touch.(pic 2) Some entertaining banter or misdirection, at this point in the performance, should mask any clinking sounds.

This trick can really benefit from some entertaining patter, as mentioned before, as with all magic tricks, the right patter can greatly enhance the entertainment value of the trick, lifting it from an OK trick to a really memorable one.

One example pf misdirection might be rubbing the coin on a piece of clothing and saying "I'm just charging up the static" gives the impression you are harnessing static electricity to perform the illusion. You know this is a load of rubbish and the only real way is with the magnet but the static electricity patter gives the
trick credibility and a possible explanation..

Once the magnet has attracted, hold the coin and magnet with your forefinger and thumb (pic 3). Because the magnet is so small you should be able to effectively hide it from view from any angle. If you have very small fingers and cannot hide the magnet completely simply show the coin from the other side, so that the spectators can’t see the magnet!

Now, take the second coin from the spectator and place it below the first coin. You should find that the two coins will stick together because of the magnetism see first photo at top of page). Try not to have the magnet too close to the second coin or it may cause the second coin to jump right onto the magnet, off the corner of the coin. This may expose the secret to the trick!

With the two coins stuck together you can lightly touch the bottom coin or even blow on it and it will spin looking very impressive! Say something entertaining like "I love working with magic coins, don't you?"

Once you are finished drop the first coin into the spectators hand or onto a table, then drop the second coin, while at the same time secretly removing the magnet with your forefinger and thumb (pic 4).

The magnet can then be ‘palmed’ again, hidden as per the beginning of the trick ready to perform again after the spectators have tried and of course failed to replicate the trick! As an alternative finish, you can simply drop it into your pocket and end the trick clean. Do be careful not to lose the magnet though, as they have a habit of sticking to most metal things laying around!

TIPS: This trick works best with coins which are the most magnetically attractive. These tend to be coins that are copper colored. So as the trick appears totally random, you could ask the spectator to present you with a handful of their loose change and you appear to randomly pick the copper coins from their pile :-)

Try doing this trick with the magnet on the side of the coin, rather than on the face. You can keep the magnet hidden in your fingertips, this will allow you to hold the coin more naturally. Also position the magnet at the correct distance from the bottom coin, allowing you to take the magnet off easier (and quieter) at the end.

Quick Coin Vanish

Effect: A coin is placed onto the table. It is picked up and it magically vanishes.
Method:

First, let me tell you this is about as easy as a magic trick as it gets. Set the coin onto the table with your left hand. Say something like "Check this out" and reach over with your right hand. Then press down on the coin with your index, middle, and 3rd fingers with your hand and arm parrallel with the table.

Slide the coin towards you keeping in mind it should be completely covered up. Slide the coin off the table so it falls into your lap. Touch your thumb to your middle finger as if you are picking up the coin as it reaches the edge of the table. Keeping all your fingers closed still. Stare at where the coin should be as you slowly move your hand away from you back to about 6 inches above where the coin originally was.

Start moving your thumb in a circular motion as if the coin is dissapearing. Slowly turn your hand around and spread your fingers apart. Now the rest is up to you. The more surprised you act and if you act like you were all fortunate to see a miracle, people will believe the trick even more and remember it ( and you ) forever, --------- maybe.

Card Levitation

Effect: : The magician puts 1 or 4 cards under his hand. He slowly lifts his hand and the cards float with his hand. Holding his hand above the table, the magician pulls the cards of his hand and drops them on the table.

You will need a ring, matchstick, card(s)
Secret

1. Put the ring on your middle finger. Then put the matchstick under the ring so that both sides of the match stick out.

2. Place your hand palms down on the table and place a card under your palm but above the matchstick. You need to practice this move to make it look like your just placing a card under your palm not above a matchstick.

3. Now you can lift your hand from the table. Press your fingers down a little on the back of the cards, they will remain in position.

card trick

Effect: This is an amazing magical effect, which will blow the socks off your spectators. While your back is turned, the spectator selects a card, places it on the deck and cuts the cards as many times as he wishes. The deck can also be cut by other spectators. Eventually, you turn round and start dealing the cards face up onto the table. You eventually say to the spectators that the next card you turn over will be the selected card. At this point you have already dealt the selected card to the table, so they will probably offer to bet that you're wrong. You then put the pack down, pick up the selected card which is already dealt on to the table, and turn it face down, to thunderous applause!!!

Method: You secretly note the BOTTOM card of the deck. This is known in magical parlance as a KEYCARD. For this explanation we shall say that the keycard is the Ace of Spades (AS), and the selected card is the King of Hearts (KH). Whilst your back is turned, you ask the spectator to remove a card from the middle of the deck. Ask him to remember the card and show it to the rest of the audience (this is important as the trick is useless if the spectator forgets the name of the card and no-one else has seen it!). Ask him to put the card on TOP of the deck. The situation now is that the spectator's card (KH) is on top and the keycard (AS) is on the bottom. Ask him to cut the deck. This places the selected card (KH) below the keycard (AS). When all the cutting is done, ask the spectator to place the pack of cards face UP on the table. All you have to do now is deal the cards face up until you turn over the keycard (AS), the next card will be the selected card (KH). In order to add a bit of entertainment, I usually deal three or four cards past the selected card and then say the next card I turn over will be your card. They'll then think you've got it wrong, which adds to the excitement when you actually turn over the correct card!!

Extra bonus (if you're lucky!!): If when you turn around you find the keycard is showing on the face of the cards, take full advantage of this fact and simply waggle your fingers over the cards (in a magical fashion!!). Tell the spectators that you are causing the chosen card to rise to the top of the deck! Have the spectator turn the deck over and sure enough, the chosen card will be on the top of the deck!

We hope you like this card trick, if so may we suggest that the Blank Deck is an excellent entry level trick that will blow their socks off, with no sleight of hand! Also if you like the magic of David Blaine (who doesn't) the Invisible Deck is probably one of the most baffling card tricks of all time, again with no sleight of hand.

Remember that magic is an illusion that you can do something out of the ordinary, so never reveal your secret and you'll be surprised at the reaction!!!

Bar Trick

Effect: This is a mind reading magic trick that will blow them away. You find a volunteer to perform your trick on. Say you are going to leave the bar, and whilst outside they are to choose an optic from behind the bar and inform the "audience" of their choice. When you return, you will magically read their mind and tell them the drink they are thinking of. You can even bet them a pint and have a cheap night out, but it may be best to try it a couple of times first to be on the safe side!!

Method: You actually have a friend secretly help you to achieve this magic mind reading trick. While you are out of the room, after the optic has been chosen, your friend will take a sip of his drink and then replace it on the bar at a specific place which will tell you what optic was chosen. Let us say there are 15 optics on the wall. We will number them 1 to 15 from left to right. So you need for your helper to secretly tell you a number between 1 to 15. Assuming there are three beer pumps on the bar and your friend is sat in front of these, he can use the following magic principle: to divide the bar up (in your mind so put your jigsaw away!) as shown in the following table:

The pumps are shown at the top, the second row is on the bar area, next to the pumps, the next row is in the middle of the bar and the third is on the other side of the bar closest to your helper. If your volunteer chooses the 6th optic (counting from the left), your helper will place his drink down in front of the Kronenbourg pump in the middle of the bar. If the 13th optic is chosen the drink will be placed in front of the heineken on your helper's side of the bar and so on....

Remember that magic is an illusion that you can do something out of the ordinary, so never reveal your secret and you'll be surprised at the reaction!!!
