So, just in case you’ve been living under a rock and you’re still using that old unreliable WordPress theme that you’ve had installed since 2012 and have no idea what a website builder is, let me explain –

Page builders like Oxygen Builder, Bricks, Breakdance, Divi, Elementor, and Brizy just to name a few have have reduced the need for using a ready made theme. The problem with WordPress themes is the customization, you are very limited as to what you can do.

And if you really want to personalize your WordPress blog, you have to dive into all kinds of theme files just to change something simple, like the color or even upload a logo. It’s virtually impossible for most folks who are not that tech savvy. And then came along page builders and eventually complete website builders for WordPress, and all limitations were removed, and I mean, all.

Why page builders are better than WordPress themes

Here are some reasons why page builders are now considered better than ready made themes –

We can now dive deeper into each of the mentioned above for further context.

This is a major shift. In the past, ready-made themes like Genesis and Thrive Themes were among the few options available—but they’re no longer worth the time or money if you ask me.

Customization was a nightmare with both. Genesis required digging into child theme stylesheets, while Thrive Themes offered little flexibility at all. Though Genesis themes were generally well-coded and lightweight, Thrive Themes were bloated with unnecessary code, leading to sluggish site performance.

Page builders like Oxygen have transformed WordPress customization, giving users full creative control over every aspect of their site. From the homepage to blog archives, post templates, 404 error pages, landing pages, and contact forms—everything is now customizable in ways that were once unimaginable in the era of ready-made themes.

2. No coding skills required

You might be wondering, how is that even possible? The answer lies in the drag-and-drop functionality of most page builders. You design visually on a blank canvas or start with pre-made sections—either way, you have complete control over every element without touching a single line of code. This removed the need to hire and expensive web designer or WordPress developer.

3. Faster and easier revisions

If you need something changed on a page, you can do it yourself. There is no need to email your designer and wait days or even weeks for some images to be changed or a logo to be updated.

Page builders like Bricks and Breakdance are updated frequently by their respective dev team, which means most of the hard work is already done for you.

The problem with many ready made themes is the lack of features. Simply features like social sharing buttons, accordions, custom form builder, all require additional plugins and additional plugins mean more bloat for your WordPress site. Additionally, there are a host of dedicated add-ons and third-party plugins available that work with page builders. These include framework tools, elements and components library plugins, template sets, and more.

5. Better SEO and performance

Many page builders are built on modern frameworks, allowing for greater performance and improved SEO. The file size of WordPress themes on the other hand can be quite large and as mentioned bloated with unnecessary code. Something like Bricks or Oxygen have options in their settings which can give the user greater control over features on their website that helps to eliminate code bloat.

6. Future proof and scalable

What does this even mean? Ready made templates make it hard to scale up your website as your business or blog begins to grow. Page builders, on the other hand, can evolve with your business needs, allowing you to build new sections and pages quickly and easily.

Oxygen 6 is currently in Beta phase 1, which means it’s available only for testing and not really recommended for use on a live WordPress site. The community, including myself, is very excited with what’s to come and therefore I happily place Oxygen 6 in fourth in this list.

I know, I probably sound like a nerd right now, but it’s the truth, how did we cope? I guess we just had to work extra hard!

How AI has changed the way I work online!

As a blogger, everything from doing topic research, automating my writing schedule, to generating marketing content for promoting my posts, products and services, using AI tools has not just helped me to become a better and more efficient blogger and content creator, but has also saved me a lot of time.

Let’s stick with blogging the time being. I used to spend hours writing, editing and polishing a blog post. Writing was never the problem, I love writing my own posts and never felt the need to hire or outsource the content writing process. Editing was the most time consuming task for me.

Take this post for instance. Not a single line was written using an AI tool. What I use AI for is rewording certain phrases and sentences. I use AI to research and learn about a topic before writing. And just to make sure I’ve done my homework properly, I’ll try and verify what I’ve learned via other sources doing a quick Google search. Those are just a few examples of how AI has changed the way I blog.

Then I use AI features in a tool such as CoSchedule to plan and schedule my content in my calendar. So that’s my blog posts, social media posts, and so on.

So, if nothing else, AI has helped me to become better organized, write better content, create at a faster pace, and save time. So without further adieu, here are my top 7 must-try AI tools for bloggers and content creators!

Here is a list of the tools we’ll be reviewing in our list. I’ll also explain how I use these tools in blogging and in my online businesses.

1. ChatGPT

What is ChatGTP?

ChatGPT is an artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot developed by OpenAI. It is powered by a family of large language models (LLMs) called GPT (Generative Pre-trained Transformer).

These models are designed to generate human-like text responses based on the input they receive. ChatGPT is widely used for various tasks, including answering questions, providing explanations, creating content, brainstorming ideas, assisting with programming, and more.

How do I use ChatGPT in blogging and content creation?

ChatGPT is my go-to blogging tool. I use for generating inspiring ideas for blog post topics, research, although you have to be careful because not everything is 100% accurate. I use the premium version of GPT, when possible, which gives me access to their latest model.

From time to time, I also copy and paste paragraphs that I’ve written on my blog and into ChatGPT and prompt it to rewrite sections of it.

As a web developer, ChatGPT has been incredibly useful in assisting me to find code snippets as well as validating code for my website development projects.

2. Gemini

What is Gemini?

Gemini is a multimodal large language model developed by Google DeepMind, designed to process and generate various types of data, including text, images, audio, and video. It was announced during the Google I/O keynote on May 10, 2023, it serves as the successor to Google’s previous language models, LaMDA and PaLM 2.

What uses does Gemini have for bloggers and content creators?

To a degree, Gemini is useful for topic research, getting inspiring ideas for your projects, getting tips to get organized, motivated, and much more. However, where Gemini becomes very useful is when it is incorporated into Google Workspace.

Gemini offers AI-powered assistance across applications like Gmail, Docs, and Sheets. The features include drafting emails, generating documents, and providing intelligent data analysis, thereby boosting user productivity and all that funky good jazz!

3. Microsoft Designer

Microsoft Designer is a graphic design application powered by AI, created to help users create professional-quality visuals effortlessly. It leverages AI tools, including DALL·E, OpenAI’s image generation technology, to enable users to create unique designs, images, and layouts for various purposes without requiring extensive design skills.

It is free to use with a Microsoft account, although you are limited to 15 credits per day for creating and editing AI images.

How do I use this AI tool?

I use Microsoft Designer to create inspiring background images that I can overlay into my featured images for blog posts, video thumbnails, and various other marketing content!

4. Grammarly

What is Grammarly?

Grammarly is an AI-powered writing assistant that helps users improve their writing by providing suggestions for grammar, spelling, punctuation, style, tone, clarity, and conciseness. It is widely used by bloggers, content creators, copywriters, students, and professionals to enhance their writing skills and produce polished content across blogs, emails, social media posts, and more.

Grammarly has been around the block for a while now, but it’s become particularly powerful since the integration of AI-power into the writing tool! Check out their AI-powered grammar checker tool here.

How I use Grammarly?

To check spelling, grammar, and readability of my blog posts. But, I don’t always use this tool. Sometimes I just rely on ChatGPT.

5. Blitzit

What is Blitzit?

Blitzip is my favorite and most used app on my desktop! It is a powerful productivity application designed to enhance focus and efficiency by combining a simple to-do list with an ever-visible timer. Its primary goal is to help users prioritize essential tasks, (like writing blog posts with minimized distractions!), and achieve a state of flow in their work.

How do I use Blitzit?

I list my businesses and set tasks for each one. So for example, Van Marciano Pro, Magnet4Blogging, and Van Marciano Co each have their own list with weekly tasks for me to crush! In short, it helps me get things done!

While Blitzip is not yet Ai-powered, it’s a matter of time as the company is working or planning on adding AI-powered task creation and work assistance features.

6. CoSchedule

What is CoSchedule?

CoSchedule is an AI-powered social media and marketing content calendar, scheduler, planner, organizer, like no other. There are many alternatives, but very few offer everything in one place. The AI features include AI writing tools like Hire Mia, which is designed to understand your brand and write content in your tone and voice.

How do I use CoSchedule?

I’ve used CoSchedule since 2018. I use it to construct and schedule marketing content for my blog, social media, email, and more. It is by far the best marketing calendar out there. Check out my review of CoSchedule here.

7. Rank Math (SEO Plugin)

What is Rank Math SEO?

Rank Math SEO is a WordPress plugin designed to help you optimize your content for search engines. It provides a wide range of AI-powered tools and features to make websites more search engine-friendly, improve rankings, and drive more organic traffic.

Rank Math is known for its user-friendly interface, advanced features, and integration with other tools like Google Analytics, Google Search Console, and social media platforms.

Rank Math has a feature called Content AI. Although, I should mention, even though this is available in Rank Math, it is a separate product. This is not free, and the plans start from 4.99 per month, but, you do get a lot of bang for your buck.

Personally, I only use the 750 free credits provided each month. A credit = one word, so if you’re only writing one post per month, 700 words long, you’re good to go.

How do I use Rank Math for my content?

I am not a big implementor of SEO. I usually just spend time creating the best content that I can and then optimize for one or two keywords. I use the free credits to help me write some of the paragraphs of my blog posts.

So there you have it, not a big list, but you really don’t need to try and use every AI tool you come across online. Although, so many tools now have some kind of AI integrated. Pick carefully and make good use of them.

One of the most extraordinary feelings of accomplishment you can experience as an entrepreneur is writing and publishing your first eBook!

For transparency: I started using Sellfy around 2023, and so far, I’ve been more than impressed with the platform and the tools they provide to creators such as myself.

What can you do with your Sellfy account?

As I mentioned earlier, with Sellfy, you can host and sell more than eBooks. You can sell any kind of digital download, such as courses, subscriptions, software, etc.

You can also use the site to sell physical products such as your brand’s merchandise, using their print-on-demand feature, again, making this platform ideal for content creators.

Payhip has been my second choice for selling eBooks online for many years. I’ve used them for many years.

Payhip remains one of the most affordable options here, the tools and features are simple and easy to use, but lack many advanced options that you would otherwise find in Sellfy.

So let’s talk about what you can sell:

You can now use Payhip to sell almost any type of digital content, from your eBooks, courses, membership, coaching, and even physical products.

The platform comes with a host of marketing tools including, analytics, marketing, discount codes, and customer management.

You can also create affiliates and encourage other marketers to promote and sell your digital products for you whilst earning a nice commission for themselves.

Getting paid using Payhip

One thing Payhip does right is the payment feature:

Payment is conveniently handled through PayPal or Stripe, so be aware that even though there is a small charge fee, there are also PayPal or Stripe transaction fees when selling.

So what can you sell with Payhip?

I’ve already mentioned some of the things you can sell on Payhip, but here’s a complete list –

How much does Payhip cost?

When it comes down to affordability, Payhip is pretty hard to beat because its pricing structure is very competitive. Here is what they have to offer –

Free Forever Plan – 5% transaction fees, plus PayPal or Stripes regular transaction fee!

Plus Plan – $29 per month, plus 2% transaction fees, and PayPal or Stripe’s regular transaction fee.

Pro Plan – $99 per month, zero transaction fees, plus PayPal or Stripe’s regular transaction fee.

Payhip doesn’t currently offer annual plans.

#3. Podia (Recommended – Value + Scalability)

Podia is one of the most exciting sites to start your online business venture. They provide a complete solution for selling online, from the website, products, email marketing, and more.

As you will see you can do more than just sell eBooks. Downloads, coaching, courses, webinars, you name it. You can also use the platform to build a community and create an affiliate program to help promote your products further.

Podia is free to start using, however, the site charges an 8% selling fee, excluding the 2.9% Stripe payment processing fee. The free plan lets you create a full website with one downloadable product, one coaching product, draft courses, and more.

There are several premium plans available starting from $33 per month and a 0% selling fee.

All that said, Podia is one of the best platforms to consider using right now if you are just starting, or you’re looking to migrate your business to an all-in-one platform.

#4. Fiverr.com

Fiverr is probably one of the most popular places on the web to sell eBooks and any other forms of digital products or services. It’s also one of the oldest platforms, first launched in February 2010.

The site is a great online outlet to launch your ebook; in fact, I’ve had some good sales by selling my eBooks on Fiverr in the past. Here’s an old screenshot I’ve managed to pull out of the old archives.

Note: I no longer use Fiverr to sell online.

The selling tools and features available on Fiverr are useful too. As a seller, you get a complete dashboard for managing your bio, customer communication, orders, and sales.

The only irritating problem I found with Fiverr is that you have to manually email deliver the eBooks yourself each time you make a sale, which sounds absurd, I know. However, I believe this is one tactic the company uses to ensure sellers engage with their customers. Also, I’m not sure if this is still the case in 2026.

You also have to maintain your profile so that your gigs (listings) don’t become stagnant or deactivated after some time, which means logging in every few weeks.

The fact that digital products aren’t delivered automatically when someone makes a purchase can be a huge pain as an eBook seller. You have to make sure you can log in at all times to deliver digital products timely.

Price-wise, there are zero fees to list your products or services on Fiverr: However, there is a 20% transaction fee; you get to keep the other 80%.

If you don’t think that’s too bad, if you are selling a lot of eBooks, then you might want to compare Fiverr with Sellfy or Payhip.

There is one huge benefit of selling your eBooks on Fiverr. And that’s down to the fact that the site has a HUGE and trusted marketplace. You’re leveraging the popularity of the website and the millions of people that visit the site daily, to promote and sell your eBooks, so you have all the chance of success.

Keep in mind, though you will be competing with a lot of other authors and publishers on the same topic since the site gets a ton of traffic, you have every opportunity to make a sale of your eBook.

#5. Self Publishing on Amazon.com

Amazon is probably the most popular and largest place on the web for selling eBooks right now. Amazon’s share of the eBook market is a whopping 68%.

Now again, for complete transparency, I have never used the Amazon Marketplace to sell anything myself. I have purchased a lot of eBooks and books from Amazon in my time.

As an author, you can earn between 35% and 70% royalty for your eBooks sold on the Amazon platform, depending on your location and pricing structure.

Because Amazon is such a monumental and authoritative platform, it’s probably the most likely place for blog writers, authors, and entrepreneurs to want to sell their eBooks. They are tapping into the biggest marketplace in the solar system.

The site is also a great place to get real, verified sales feedback for your eBooks too. Of course, Amazon should NOT be the only place to consider promoting and selling your eBooks. It’s always best to use several platforms.

#6. Feiyr.com

Once again, I have had no prior experience with selling my eBooks on Feiyr.com. However, I’m adding the platform to this list as another option for you to explore.

On their website, the company states that they’ve been around since 2006, and from what I’ve learned through my own research and on online forums, they’re a great place to self-publish and distribute your eBooks.

Registration is free, however, there is a small account fee for verifying your account.

There are no monthly or yearly fees with Feiyr.com and you earn an 80% commission on sales of your eBooks. Payments are made to creators daily and aside from eBooks, you can sell music as well as physical merchandise via the platform.

#7. Blurb.com

Blurb is another great site where you create and distribute your eBooks online. It’s a complete eBook creation, promotion, and selling platform.

The options allow you to choose whether you want to sell on its platform, the Amazon or Barnes & Noble platform, and the Apple Books Store.

The site has some really cool software features you can use to create and style your eBooks before promoting them and selling them to your target audience. All you need to do is add content.

You can also create quality printed books and magazines using Blurb, should you wish to. So, if you already have an eBook and want to take it one step further, perhaps this service is for you.

#8. Google Play (Books Partner Center)

If you want to make your eBooks available on the Android platform, then there’s no better place to start than Google Play Books.

#9. E-junkie

Next, we get to good old E-Junkie. This is where it all began for me as an eBook author many years ago now.

After 15 years of blogging, I can confidently say it’s been one wild journey. I’ve blogged all over—here, on the FVM blog, my membership site blog, my music blog, art blog, guest blogging blogs… you name it, I’ve probably blogged there. Well, maybe not everywhere, but almost!

So, where is blogging headed right now? Is it going to die in 2026? Or, is blogging already dead?

The short answer is: No, blogging is not dead, but it has evolved over time, and significantly.

Many people still stick to the traditional approach to blogging, and I’m not one to dictate how anyone should handle their blogging strategy. However, times are changing faster than we can keep up.

While traditional blogging has become more challenging due to competition and, of course, the rise of social media, as well as changes in online behavior, it still plays a crucial and valuable role in content marketing, brand building, and establishing authority. We can establish that much.

Blogging will always have a place because the internet thrives on content. Remember this.

No matter how things evolve, people will continue to consume information online, and blogs will remain an essential source of that content.

That’s right, I’m back, in true Beetlejuice fashion.

After almost three years of completely neglecting this blog, I’m returning to Magnet4Blogging!

First off, I want to thank you all for your patience during my absence. During that time, I focused on other life goals and, of course, thought a lot about the future of Magnet4Blogging.

Honestly, I’m glad I took that three-year break—there was a lot on my plate back then, as I mentioned.

What have I been up to?

I’ve been incredibly busy with my personal brand business at Van Marciano Co, working on online courses, building a membership platform, freelancing, and diving into music and art.

So this left me with very little time for Magnet4Blogging.

Strangely enough, I now have the time to dedicate to this blog again, thanks to a big decision I’m making with my freelance business at FVM.

As it stands, I’m likely to wind down my freelance services (web design and development) in the next few years to focus more on creating educational content and blogging.

This will not be an easy decision to make, but that’s all I’ll say for now. I plan to share more details about why I’m stepping away from web design in the near future.

So, when can you expect a fresh new post, since March 2022?

The last time I posted anything meaningful here was back in March 2022. So, what’s the plan moving forward?

Well, you can expect a fresh post sometime between now and November 2024.

The website redesign is nearly complete, and as you’ve probably noticed, the site is in a “continuous improvement” phase. This means I’m still making tweaks and updates behind the scenes.

Plus, every bit of content on this blog needs a serious overhaul—and I’m working on that in the background too.

That’s it from me for now. I’m excited to be back, and I hope you enjoy the new look. There’s some exciting stuff ahead!

Well, after some careful consideration, it saddens me to inform you that this is my last blog post here.

Yup, I’ve decided to retire from blogging at Magnet4Blogging.

Maybe I should use the word ‘retire’ very loosely here. I am, in fact, taking the rest of 2022, and likely all of 2023, and perhaps even beyond that away from this blog.

But, before I sign off, I want to share with you my reasons for making this difficult decision.

1. No new content

You might have noticed that I’ve not been creating any new ‘worthwhile’ content here for a while.

My last significant blog post was published back in December of 2021. We’re now in the middle of March of 2022 and still no new content.

That’s not because I’ve lost my passion or interest in blogging, it’s simply because I do not have the time to devote to creating new content for Magnet4Blogging.

In addition to this, and perhaps more importantly, there are many things occurring in my life and other businesses right now, and I feel it’s time to let go of some things. Magnet4Blogging being one of those things.

2. Other projects

As you may know, I also work as a freelance web designer and content creator at Van Marciano Co.

I’ve spent a lot of time creating new content for my YouTube channel too, as well as working on my courses and upcoming membership platform.

I frequently write new tutorials for the FVM blog, which is another reason why I’ve had little time to create new content for Magnet4Blogging.

It doesn’t end there.

I’m also in the process of moving all my design-related blog articles from Magnet4Blogging over to Fabrizio Van Marciano Dot Com. And all of the tutorials to my membership platform at Van Marciano Pro.

As you can imagine, all of this is taking up a tremendous amount of my time and leaving me with very little left to dedicate to blogging on M4B.

My business model has changed as well over the recent years – blogging is still at the core of my marketing game plan, but not at the core of my monetization strategy.

What will happen to Magnet4Blogging?

Nothing will happen in the immediate future. The site will remain online for as long as I need it to be.

I will continue to update the existing content to keep it fresh and relevant for the new readers. I may even return with a new plan and strategy for taking this blog into the future, depending greatly on the state of affairs. There’s no telling where blogging will be in the future.

I may also create a new post now and again, if I feel that I need to share something important or relevant to help you with your blogging or online business.

Am I still passionate about blogging?

Yes, absolutely. Even after ten years of blogging here, I’m still in love with creating content.

However, passion isn’t the problem. It’s time, and time that I don’t have at present. It’s also time for me to move on, at least for now.

There is no secret formula to becoming a successful blogger. Nobody is going to wave a magic wand around and make you a blogging superstar.

You can read all the books you want. You can waste your money on all the blogging courses you think you need. At the end of the day, it comes down to you, and your habits.

So, let’s look at three habits that will guarantee your failure as a blogger. Here goes –

1. Comparing yourself with others
2. Always striving for perfection
3. Procrastination (The ultimate killer)

Now let’s dive into each one in a little more detail.

1. Comparing yourself with others

Don’t tell me you’ve never compared yourself with another blogger or entrepreneur. We’ve all done it. I used to do it a lot.

What you have to realize, especially if you are just starting out, is that you cannot compare your beginnings with someone else’s middle or success. I’m sure you’ve heard of that expression before.

Blogging is not an overnight success. You’re not going to start a blog today and become successful or financially better off tomorrow. Never, ever will that happen. Unless you happen to be a celebrity.

So, stop comparing yourself with other bloggers or successful entrepreneurs. These folks are reaping the rewards of their hard labor and they deserve to. Your story is yet to be written.

Instead, compare the blogger or entrepreneur you are today to the one you were perhaps six months or even a year ago.

Comparing your progress now with the progress you made previously will give you a good insight into how far you’ve come. And if you’ve made little to no progress, then you know you’ve got to do more work.

It’s a slow process, but you will get there. I started blogging in August of 2010, and here we are in August of 2023 (at the time of updating this post). I have plenty of moments in my blogging journey to compare to the present.

2. Always striving for perfection (Or worse waiting for the right moment to start)

Well, are you?

I recently started reading a book by Rob Moore titled Start Now, Get Perfect Later. You can find this book here on Amazon, I highly recommend it.

So again, like comparing yourself with others, the perfect time will never, ever come for you to make a start on your blogging or entrepreneurial journey.

Ideally, you should have started the moment you thought about blogging. If not, then stop wasting time and start now. Whatever you decide remember that it’s about making things happen now, getting the ball rolling now… increasing your output now, and perfecting later.

For years I put off creating my online course in web design. I was waiting for the right time, the perfect moment for all the things to fit together. And sadly, I missed a vital opportunity.

I finally decided that enough was enough and I had to get started. In January of 2022, I began working on my course and it was released in the summer of the same year!

The course was far from perfect, it had many flaws which many of my students brought to my attention, but I slowly began to perfect it.

As a blogger, you have to change your attitude towards aiming for perfection. There is no such thing as perfection. We can get close to it, but never 100%. So stop waiting for the right moment to launch your blog, write your eBook, or create your online course.

Just ask yourself this:

How can you possibly aim for perfection when you haven’t even started on those things?

3. Procrastination

Oh boy, this is by far the mother of all success killers, I kid you not.

In today’s environment, procrastination is tough to avoid. For bloggers and online entrepreneurs, it’s a minefield.

As creators, we need access to the internet to be creative and resourceful, right? At the same time, the same tool we use to build our online brand is also the thing that can pull us away from our goals and objectives.

I’ve been guilty of procrastinating on many things online. YouTube, emails, social media scrolling, etc. I’m not ashamed, I’m being honest with you. The internet can be the ultimate productivity killer.

But procrastination doesn’t just happen online. Other things can distract you at the best of times:

Television, the IKEA delivery driver who wants to stay and chat for 20 minutes, the friend that drops by unannounced and stays for hours on end, text messages that demand an immediate response, phone calls, it’s endless…

How do you avoid all of these things to stay focused and productive?

Well, for starters, one thing you can do is disconnect. You don’t need to be connected to anything when writing your blog posts for example. Maybe have your phone on you to do some research. Also, be structured, get organized, and create a schedule. My blog planner should help you out with this.

The bottom line is this…

If you don’t overcome these terrible habits, you’re going to slow down your progress or even halt it altogether. Becoming a successful blogger or online entrepreneur takes a unique mindset. So ask yourself, have you got what it takes to deal with these three bad habits above?

Asides from sharing blogging and marketing advice, from time to time, I like to share with you what I’m doing to earn passive income from my blog.

If you’ve been a long-time reader of Magnet4Blogging, you’ll know that one model that I use to monetize is good old affiliate marketing, which by the way, isn’t dead, regardless of what you may have been told.

Affiliate marketing, in my opinion, is an effective way to earn passive income online, not just from blogging. In fact, most people who do affiliate marketing, are not bloggers.

If you’re new to the world of making money from blogging, however, I actually wrote a detailed post sharing some tips for making your first $1k from your blog. You can find that post over on my personal blog at FVM.

OK, so back to it:

When I’m doing affiliate marketing myself, I like to approach each subject (take a product or service) that I want to review and promote in a multi-strategic manner.

In other words, I don’t always use the same strategy, or publish all of the content in one place.

Sometimes I’ll use the blog, sometimes a video on YouTube or my tutorial videos on Van Marciano Pro, other times I’ll create a podcast, social media or email campaign, etc.

I’m usually able to tell after researching a product, which strategy and channel would be best to use.

So let me start by talking a little bit about Payhip.

You may have come across several posts on my blog where I talk about or mention Payhip. So, what is it? Who are they? What do they do? etc.

From my first affiliate payment of $105 received from Payhip back in August of 2018, I never imagined that the commissions would amount to over $24K.

I get it, $24k might not sound like a great deal, and you’re probably wondering why I’m even singing and dancing about it, but what might not sound like a lot of money, for me, from promoting a single program, it will do very nicely.

Payhip has been providing me a steady passive income since 2018. And so here we are today, as I’m updating this post in February of 2026, I have been paid $24K in commissions thus far.

That last part is important to keep in mind: I didn’t make this overnight, but over the span of six years. Thats $4k each year added to my online income stream.

But here’s the other thing, which I’ll share in more detail in this pos:

Aside from the initial work that I put into promoting Payhip, these days, I do very little and the commissions keep coming. In fact, I’ve done nothing in the past three years, since writing this post, to promote Payhip.

You know the saying, right? Put in the hard work first, and reap the benefits later. Well, there you have it.

Zero to $24K… My strategy

So here we go:

What tactics did I use to promote Payhip’s awesome eCommerce platform and to grow my commissions to over $24K in the last six years?

Let me share those with you right now. Here’s a quick table of content –

Now, let me dive deeper into each of the things above.

#1. Product use and experience!

Over the past decade of my affiliate blogging venture, I have never once promoted or recommended a single product, or service, that I have not used or trusted.

This is the one thing I preach about the most when it comes to doing affiliate marketing the right way.

So many bloggers put out content after content with their affiliate links embedded, and very few actually talk about their experience with the product they are trying to promote.

I’ve said this before, and I’ll say it again here: You categorically should not promote or recommend on your blog or website any product or service, unless you’ve had first-hand experience with it.

This tactic is simple: Use it before you recommend it.

Why is this so important?

Because of a little something called trust. Trust and credibility are everything in blogging and affiliate marketing.

If you’re trying to build trust with your readers, subscribers, listeners, and watchers, you don’t want to start by promoting anything you find just to make a quick buck.

I mean, it really annoys me when I do my own research, and find blogs with mediocre content raving lists of products they’ve never actually used.

You don’t want to be known as the blogger who promotes any old rubbish for profit, do you?

Moreover, anyone wanting to purchase a product or service online usually likes to see how the product is being used. What are the features and the benefits, etc.?

So after all that waffle:

Yes, I used Payhip to start selling my eBooks for just over a year before I decided to promote it on my blog. The same goes for all of the recommended digital products, tools and services I use across my websites.

#2. Market research

One of the things I like to do when researching is to check to see what content already exists regarding a product or service I want to promote.

This is simple enough to do, and I don’t use any special tool other than Google Search, which as you know is free.

Sometimes, I will do a little keyword research, but nothing too deep. For Payhip, I looked into the following keywords:

1. Selling digital downloads online

You probably think that I’m insane telling you what keywords I use to rank my most profitable Payhip marketing blog post, but isn’t a little competition healthy?

Truthfully speaking, though, I actually don’t care. I know how much effort I put into creating quality content, not quantity.

Anyhow, after scouring the web and finding a few mediocre list posts, and hardly any video content specifically using Payhip, I decided to move on to the next step… Keep in mind that most bloggers, for some very bazaar reason, don’t like creating videos. I love creating videos, especially for my YouTube channel.

#3. Creating a marketing content plan with conte ideas

This was the fun part for me.

Once I had my small list of keywords, I began creating a marketing plan and writing a list of ideas for the content I would need to create to successfully promote Payhip and begin making money.

These included –

• Writing an in-depth review of Payhip and include a video (very important) (Here FVM)
• Writing a product comparison post and video (Post on FVM and video on YouTube now has over 80K views and 3K likes)
• Write a list post of Gumroad alternatives (Here M4B)
• Write a list post of the best places to sell digital downloads (Here FVM)
• Write a tutorial article on how to use Payhip (Here FVM)
• Record and publish a podcast about Payhip (Here M4B)

As you can see, most of this content is on my blog, and that’s because I like to publish my best content on my blogs, whether it’s here or at FVM. Other platforms that I use include YouTube and social media.

With my content strategy penned out, I then dedicated the time needed to create each piece of content carefully.

Now, this is where most bloggers trip up:

So many bloggers try and create one great piece of content such as a review, then expect it to rank and make them tons of money overnight. I’m not saying that won’t work, but definitely not overnight.

Plus, why only create one piece of great content when you can dedicate some time to creating several pieces, and using a variety of mediums?

#4. The ‘one’ thing

What on earth am I going on about? Hear me out:

The one thing is an awesome book by author Gary Keller with Jay Papasan.

It’s about a simple mindset and strategy that focuses on working towards one thing at a time, as opposed to a million things at the same time.

So, from a blogging or marketing standpoint, that’s could be focusing on –

1. One product
2. One marketing strategy

Here’s one of my favorite quotes from this book –

“You need to be doing fewer things for more effect instead of doing more things with side effects.” – Gary Keller

So yes, I used this simple mindset to work on promoting Payhip. That means for the first five to six weeks, I did nothing else other than create marketing content to promote Payhip, which was my one thing.

#5. The marketing part (of affiliate marketing)

Wow… here it is, this is the big one. Although we’ve already discussed creating and publishing content.

Affiliate marketing without marketing? Well, it just doesn’t work. Its a bit like having a matchbox with no matches.

How successful you are as an affiliate marketer depends on how much time and focus you are willing to invest in marketing and promotion.

So, let me take you back to my strategy:

After ensuring that I’ve done everything I can to create the right kind of content, which I guess is a large part of the marketing process, I then try and think of ways in which to promote that content on the web.

Remember: Despite creating great content, no one is going to really know about it unless you promote it.

SEO is, of course, very important without a doubt. Organic search engine traffic is free and can provide many years of quality leads and affiliate sales if done legitimately.

That means all white hat techniques and not trying to cheat the system. So, that’s the first thing I make sure I’m doing right.

I try and optimize each blog post and video the best I can for search engine visibility. Personally, I find it boring and tedious and that’s just me, but I know it’s important.

But here’s the other thing:

You don’t have to be an SEO expert to be successful at affiliate marketing. I certainly am not.

For my blog, I use the Rank Math SEO Pro plugin. For my YouTube videos, I ensure that I write a good headline and include a compelling description. Check out this post for top tips on YouTube video SEO.

Next up is email marketing. Probably the most important tactic of them all.

This will not obviously work if you don’t have an email list. But what I do first, is create several shorter pieces of content to send out to my list whenever I want to promote a new affiliate product.

If it’s something brand new that I’ve never promoted before, I will spread the campaign out over the course of a few weeks, to start with.

Here’s an example I used for Payhip:

1. Week One: Notify my subscribers of a new review post on my blog about an amazing online selling tool that I discovered or started using.
2. Week Two: Send out another notification, this time with a screenshot of the video thumbnail and a link to the video embedded in the blog post.
3. Week three: Announce a special offer or reader promotion (If one is available)
4. Week four: Announce a new podcast that mentions Payhip.

Tip: What I don’t do that often, nor do I recommend doing, is posting links directly to the affiliate product in an email newsletter. Sometimes, it come across as spammy. Maybe after you have exhausted the other options above, you can share a direct link but in a email newsletter eventually. I prefer to link to the marketing content that contains your affiliate links, whether it’s a video, podcast, or blog post.

Here are some other posts that I’ve mentioned Payhip, for example –

For social media, I would create unique pieces of content for –

1. Instagram
2. Facebook
3. Twitter

These usually consist of some visual content such as featured images, custom graphics, Instagram posts, and short videos. I find sharing visuals to be more effective and engaging than sharing a random link and description of a review post.

#6. Analyzing

One thing (here’s that word again) that a lot of new affiliate marketers forget to do after they’ve spent hours crafting their marketing content is to go back and analyze to see what’s working and what’s not.

Once a week, over the course of three to six months, I will go back and evaluate each piece of content to measure traffic, shares, rankings, engagement, and more importantly, conversions.

If something needs tweaking and adjusting, I’ll do it all in the background. Reviews generally only need updating once per year in my opinion. But it’s important to keep any marketing content fresh and relevant, as I already mentioned in this post.

#7. Patience (…is a virtue)

Is it?

Yes it is =)

After spending five or six weeks focused on creating all of the content needed to promote Payhip’s platform, and after several months of tweaking, monitoring, and analyzing, more patience was required…

What, did you think after all of this I was expecting sales? Nope.

I always compare promoting any affiliate product with planting a Sunflower seed. It takes time to nurture and grow a Sunflower to six feet and higher.

I’m no gardening expert, but I know Sunflowers don’t grow overnight. That’s a boring analogy but it’s the same with your blog, online business, and affiliate marketing.

#8. Reaping the rewards

This is the Sunflower in all its glory… Standing tall, bright yellow petals… the reward.

As I said at the start of this post, I joined the Payhip Partner Program at the start of 2018. In the Spring, roughly. My first paycheck came in August of the same year for $105…

After that, it was nothing but regular monthly payments, which slowly increased each month…

Final words of wisdom

The purpose of this post, again, was not an opportunity for me to gloat. I never do this and if you scour my blog for similar content, you’ll soon see that I rarely share how I’m earning passive income from blogging.

I wrote it to demonstrate a few things –

1. Share my process and blueprint for promoting Payhip and other affiliate products.
2. To inspire you to do the same.
3. To show you with work and patience, it’s possible to make good money from blogging and affiliate marketing

I’m nobody special. Yes, I had a little bit of marketing experience running an eCommerce website before I started blogging and affiliate marketing, but I wasn’t born with this knowledge.

I’m a web developer and digital content creator, not an affiliate marketer. So anyone can do this, absolutely anyone.

So, with that said, hopefully, this post has inspired you to find a great product, get to work promoting it, and reap the rewards later.

And just think, this is just one product. There are thousands of great products and services out there you can turn into a monthly profit. So, do your research carefully, pick the right ones, use them, and then go to town to create great marketing content for them.

More and more people are watching videos and tuning into their favorite podcasts. The attention span retained by these two mediums is greater than reading blog posts. And when it comes to conversions and creating leads, videos are your best bet!

But, the good news is that people still read blog posts.

In fact, according to this article, 77% of internet users regularly read blog posts.

Phew, I hear you say…

Even so, if you want your readers to keep coming back to your blog, or even subscribe, you have to make each and every single post count. And you don’t need to achieve this with word count either. Short and sweet can also work.

So, in not so many words, how do you delight your readers with every blog post you put out?

Here goes:

1. Don’t save the best til last – If there’s something truly awesome that you cannot wait to share with your readers, don’t wait til the last paragraph to write about it. Some of your readers may not even get that far into your post. Heck, throw it out there in the first few paragraphs. Give them the meaty stuff right away.
   
2. Tell your story – People enjoy reading stories that they can relate to. As long as the story is relevant and fitting with the topic of the post you are writing, of course. Os if you’ve got something you really want to share? Something that will inspire your audience, go to town on it, and don’t be shy either.
   
3. Share an interesting statistic – Everyone loves reading about the latest and greatest stats on almost anything these days. We live in a data-driven world. The great thing about sharing a cool statistic is that it sticks in people’s minds. Again, if it’s relevant and suitable to add to your blog post, then do it. But, don’t go overboard, and make sure you have done your research before posting.
   
4. Reel them into the conversation – Regardless of where you want to promote engagement; whether it’s your blog or somewhere on social media. Share your thoughts, and then ask your readers for theirs. Get your readers/viewers/listeners involved by allowing them to share their ideas, opinions, and experiences. After all, that’s what blogging and building a community is all about, right?
   
5. Make their reading experience a good one – I’ve mentioned this one quite a few times, I know, but I’ll say it again. No one likes to read big chunks of boring text! I certainly don’t. Chunks of boring text make a blog post look untidy and uninviting. So, first and foremost, make sure your blog design looks nice. If it doesn’t, maybe I can help you out. Secondly, and more importantly, make sure you’re formatting your blog posts for optimal reading experience. Make your content interesting and beautiful, and this post has some tips for you.
   
6. Add some human element – I can’t begin to tell you how many blog posts I’ve read that sound like it was written by an AI. I mean, it is getting smarter, thus harder to tell. The best way, without a doubt, to delight your readers in your blog posts is to add that all-important human element. It could be something simple like the way you greet or sign off. It could be some mild humor that you throw into your post from time to time. Don’t be afraid to create your audience persona too. Be known for doing something cool on your blog that separates you from others. Don’t just be a copycat.
