It was a fast-paced and very intense 2 hour session, much tougher than what she’s used to.

But that’s one of the reasons I wanted her to try it it, so she can get better.

She’s been dancing for 5 years and her skills haven’t been improving, and as a result she was getting bored.

There were a few other girls in the class who came from the same dance school as my daughter.

And during the class, the instructor, a highly skilled dancer and Latin dance champion, turned to these girls and said…

“All of you are making this one move wrong, and it’s exactly the same. It’s obvious you’ve developed that habit already, so we need to break it and retrain you.”

And I immediately thought about the saying… “Practice makes perfect”… and how wrong it is.

When you practice making the wrong moves, you’ll develop a habit of always making the wrong moves.

And it’s true of everything.

Ask any golfer, tennis player, or any other athlete.

Practice your golf swing or tennis serve the wrong way, and you’ll always make the same mistake, which will turn into a habit, and as you know… those are hard to break.

Which is why… “practice doesn’t make perfect… perfect practice makes perfect.”

And just like in sports and dancing, what you practice on a regular basis has turned into habits for you.

And they’re either helping you or hurting you.

Here are some habits we all have that have a tremendous impact on the quality of our life.

• How you treat others.
• How much money you save or invest.
• How much attention you give to your health.
• How you respond to challenges.
• How you handle negativity and failure.
• How you deal with distractions.
• How often you communicate with your list.
• How you think about the future.
• How much time you spend improving and getting better.

And the list can go on and on…

I once read somewhere that our life is basically a sum of the choices we’ve made and the habits we’ve developed.

How true.

And the good news is, moving forward you can make different choices and develop NEW habits.

Easy?

No it’s not. And as I see it, the older you get, the harder it is to change.

However change is the key.

All super successful people are “happily dissatisfied.” When I read that in a book which I highly recommend – “177 Mental Toughness Secrets Of The World Class”… I realized why I always feel like I need to do more.

While the world says… “you need to stop to smell the roses”, my attitude’s always been that I WANT TO GET BETTER.

Jim Rohn had a great saying… “How tall does a tree grow? As tall as it can.”

Then why is it that people settle for less? Many say if I only have _______ this will be enough for me.

Why not make as much as you can?

Why not save as much as you can?

Why not be as healthy as you can?

Why not be as good as you can in whatever you’re doing?

While most people look for ways to AVOID change and growth, champions look for ways to challenge themselves and get better.

The result is obvious.

Most people struggle with pretty much everything, while those who choose the latter lead a very different life.

If you want more out of life, and are dissatisfied with the results you’ve been getting… THAT’S GOOD!

Dissatisfaction is step 1.

Now it’s just a matter of deciding what habits have you developed that are keeping you stuck and start changing them.

Why settle for anything less than the best?

I’ve noticed that successful people are always open to new things and ideas.

They may be set in their ways in some areas, but when it comes to business and money, they stay open.

They don’t accept everything as a fact, and separate “truth” from “fact.”

There is a difference.

At one point people thought the world was flat.

It was THEIR truth, but it wasn’t a fact.

Yet they believed and lived their lives as if it was.

Some things are facts, yet our thoughts, feelings and actions come from what we “believe” to be a fact.

Our subconscious mind doesn’t know the difference between what’s real and what’s not.

So…

Even if something is not factual, we ofen accept it as a truth and act according to those beliefs.

Like… the world is flat.

Or… you have to work too hard to make money.

Or… it takes too much sacrifice to become successful.

Or… for me to have something someone has to give up something.

I’m sure you can make a long list of your own.

How about this.

Fill in the blank…

The only way I can build a business is ________.

If I didn’t have to ________ I’d be much more successful.

If I only had _______ I’d make a lot more money.

My problem is _________.

I can’t make more money because I need _______.

Whether you consciously think these or not, a lot of it is playing in the background, reaffirming those beliefs and you accept them as truth.

The good news is that YOU are 100% in control of what goes into your mind.

You can’t control what goes on around you, but you absolutely can control what you allow to get in and how you respond to it.

Easier said than done, I know.

But with practice it does become easier.

Successful people don’t accept “truths” as facts.

They question the status quo and look for better, easier, simpler ways to get the job done.

Unfortunately we’re not trained to think this way in school.

It’s something you have to develop on your own.

So, take a few minutes think about what “beliefs” or “truths” you’ve been operating from that are hindering your growth and standing in the way of your success.

And then once you know what they are, why not change them?

Years ago I heard a very successful businessman, very wealthy too say that he knows his Net Worth to a penny.

He checks it everyday.

Napoleon Hill in “Think and Grow Rich” said…

“Success comes to those who become success conscious. Failure comes to those who indifferently allow themselves to become failure conscious.

Wishing will not bring riches. But desiring riches with a state of mind that becomes an obsession, then planning definite ways and means to acquire riches, and backing those plans with persistence which does not recognize failure, will bring riches.”

Whew. This last sentence is packed with gems. Read it again and again and again.

Especially the part about turning desire into an obsession.

See, some people are afraid to say they are obsessed about wealth.

WHY?

Is it ok to be obsessed about your health?

Is it ok to be obsessed about your emotional well-being?

Then why in the world is it NOT ok to be obsessed about becoming wealthy?

I’m not talking about living in a mansion, driving a Bentley and flying your own jet.

Although if that gets your juices flowing there ain’t nuttin’ wrong with that.

Look…

Whoever said “money doesn’t buy happiness”, obviously never had any money.

Money DOES buy happiness.

But there’s one caveat to this…

See if you’re UNhappy… then when you get some money, it will NOT make you happier.

Maybe temporarily. But very quickly you’ll fall right back to your depressed or unhappy state.

You’ll worry about losing it, you’ll buy things to cheer you up, but it’ll quickly wear off and all that won’t make you anymore happy. So you’ll go back to the same old thinking that…

Money Does Not Buy Happiness!

BUT…

If you’re happy (not content or satisfied), just happy. Then when you get some money, you’ll buy things that make your life happier.

You know…

Money does buy you experiences that enrich your life.

Like traveling, doing things with your family, having time to spend with your kids, being able to afford better “stuff”, and…

… it’s something that can provide you with lots of security and freedom.

In my experience, money only makes you more of what you already are.

It doesn’t make you good or bad. It’s just a piece of paper, or actually more like, digits on your bank account statement that give you the PERCEPTION of having money.

So how do you get more of it?

Well…

You get what you focus on.

If you focus everyday on growing your wealth, it has no other place to go but UP.

I heard a great line the other day.

“Obesity happens one pound at a time.”

And so does wealth. You build wealth one dollar at a time.

Having a goal to become financially independent…

Setting up your wealth building account…

And then everyday looking at it and thinking about growing it…

Will help you convince yourself that you WILL have it.

Do you have a wealth accumulation account?

Are you investing it and checking it daily?

It’ll magnetize more thoughts about wealth, money and success to you.

You’ll start “seeing” or becoming aware of opportunities that others just don’t see.

And the funny thing is they’ve been there all along, you just need to become “money conscious” to see them.

And then…

Then comes the most important part which is taking action.

Or as Joe Vitale put it in his book “The Attractor Factor” – take “inspired action.”

When you do something with lots of positive energy, this energy adds tremendous power to your action, which makes getting results much easier.

So…

If you want more money, more wealth, more abundance and more success in your life…

… then remember that both Poverty and Riches begin with a single thought.

Since I didn’t “formally” finish college (actually I never got past the 2nd semester), I decided to list the facts about my REAL education.

School Name: School of Hard Knocks and Street Smart Marketing Education

Degree: Master Copywriter, Marketer and Salesman

Field of Study: Money, Wealth Creation, and Human Psychology

Dates Attended: 1995-2013

Activities and Societies: Sold millions of dollars worth of products and services including insurance, investments, mortgages, and information products… face to face, offline, and online.

I’m sure some of my connections on LinkedIn will get a kick out of it, but it’s the truth isn’t it?

What is education after all?

According to Thesaurus:

Education – instruction, development of knowledge

So according to schools… you will become successful by obtaining instruction and developing knowledge.

Does anyone see a problem with this thinking?

I think maybe, just maybe that could be one of the reasons today’s college graduates are called the “Boomerang Generation.”

They leave home to go to school, then come back 4 years later and move right back to their parents house because they can’t get a job.

Oh and they’ve got $50K in loans as a reward for all this great “instruction and development of knowledge.”

What a SCAM!

Education is crucial to your success, but not just any kind of education.

Napoleon Hill in “Think and Grow Rich” talks about “Specialized Knowledge” as one of the steps towards riches.

This is right from the book…

“There are two kinds of knowledge. One is general, the other is specialized. General knowledge, no matter how great in quantity or variety it may be, is of but little use in the accumulation of money.

The faculties of the great universities possess, in the aggregate, practically every form of general knowledge known to civilization. Most of the professors have but little money. They specialize on teaching knowledge, but they do not specialize on the organization, or the use of knowledge.

Knowledge will not attract money, unless it is organized, and intelligently directed, through practical plans of action, to the definite end of accumulation of money.

Lack of understanding of this fact has been the source of confusion to millions of people who falsely believe that “knowledge is power.” It is nothing of this sort!

Knowledge is only potential power. It becomes power only when, and if it is organized into definite plans of action and directed to a definite end.”

Of course is it’s easy fall victim to the “conventional” thinking if it’s been pounded into you since the early childhood.

Which is why if you want to “win the money game”…

… you have to ERASE and REPLACE your old beliefs about this if they’re holding you back, by grabbing REAL education and knowledge, and…

… getting around the RIGHT kind of people.

I don’t think I’d still be in this business if I didn’t make the decision early on to put myself around others who were going in the same direction as me.

And for most of us it’s NOT our family, friends and neighbors.

No, you need to get around other leaders… movers and shakers who can help you break out of the pack and skyrocket your business.

And it just so happens we have the biggest event of the year coming up shortly… “No Excuses Summit 4.”

For years I watched network marketers, especially when they’re new, declare why their company is the best, and their product line is the best, and their comp plan is the best… and so forth.

All that does is backfire by creating more hype and usually falls on deaf ears, without much help in your efforts to recruit more people and sell more products.

Why?

Because EVERYONE says “their stuff” is the best.

So how do you position yourself as a better choice without entering this chest-beating contest?

Look at what one company did to create one of the most successful campaigns in the history of advertising.

Years ago, Avis (the car rental company),was faced with a challenge of being the second in the industry behind Hertz.

A copywriter they hired, brilliantly used it as a positioning tool and a reason to make them look better.

And he did it with ONE PHRASE:

“When you’re only No. 2, you try harder. Or else.”

This one line put the campaign in the history books on advertising… making it a smashing hit for Avis… and causing life to be miserable for Hertz.

You see…

I learned this in sales long time ago that if there is an objection (or several) that will always come up in your prospects mind, why try to hide them?

Bring them up front and overcome them BEFORE they come up.

When I used to sell mutual funds, the biggest objection people ALWAYS had, whether they expressed it or not is that’s it’s not guaranteed.

No investment is guaranteed.

But the upside potential was much higher than the risk.

So, what I did was “brag” about the fact that it wasn’t guaranteed.

I would actually bring up the fact that banks guarantee your money, but they turn around and make much more on your money, because you’re “lending” your money to them.

And when you factor in inflation, you’re actually LOSING money by not investing it.

There’s more to it than that, but the point is…

I brought it up right away, and didn’t wait for them to do it, because I knew it was on their mind and if I didn’t overcome this objection, it’d be an uphill battle for me.

Every product, service, and business opportunity, without exception, has some kind of a flaw or something that the prospect will object to.

Every single one.

By overcoming it on the front end, you not only eliminate the objection, but you also create more trust and credibility by being honest about it.

And once that trust is developed, you’re half way home.

So…

Instead of beating your chest and claiming that your opportunity is the best, find a reason to position yourself, your product and your company as the “best choice” for your prospect.

Life will be much easier and your wallet much thicker .

Last night my wife and I dashed out of the house as soon as grandma came over to baby sit and went to one of our favorite places, PF Changs.

I can never get tired of their Mongolian Beef and Chicken Lettuce Wraps.

Anyways, usually the servers bring you extra lettuce, and mix the sauce, but last night the guy who waited on us, didn’t seem to want to put any extra effort in the service.

He wasn’t rude and brought everything on time, but it was obvious he was just doing “his job”… you know exactly what he’s supposed to do and not an ounce more.

For example, he didn’t once ask us if we need anything else.

Didn’t offer extra lettuce (like every other time I’ve been there), didn’t bring a wine chiller and even had a surprising look on his face when we asked for one.

I mean seriously, why do we need a wine chiller with a $40 bottle of wine?

Oh, and I just remembered as I’m typing this, he didn’t even bring us fortune cookies like they usually do with your bill. That’s the first time ever.

So obviously, when it came time to pay the bill, I think my “tip” reflected all that.

Now a couple weeks ago we were at a different restaurant and the server asked us if we wanted any bread.

Usually I like to try different breads, but for some reason this time neither my wife or I wanted any bread so we thanked her and told her to just bring us the food and skip the bread.

A couple minutes later she brought the bread anyway.

Well, I figure if it’s there I might as well try it.

And I must say…

This was one of the best breads I’ve ever had.

A few minutes later, Olivia (the server) came up and said – “I knew you’d like it, so I brought it for you to try.”

My wife started asking her if they made it at the restaurant and what kind of bread was it.

Olivia said there are actually different kinds and she’ll bring us others to try, as well as the name of the bakery where the restaurant was buying it from.

She then brought 2 baskets of Olive Rosemary, Garlic-Cheese, Focaccia, Swiss Multi-Grain, Potato Onion and Dill, and Orange-Pecan Raisin.

I think for a moment I forgot I ordered a steak and appetizers.

She also brought a piece of paper with the name of the baker, their address, phone number, and website all handwritten.

They’re actually located a good 40 minutes from where we live, so Olivia then brought us info on two more similar places closer to us, and even explained which stores in the area carried them.

Now keep in mind that the bread is free, and we could actually buy these loafs at their restaurant, probably at a higher price than at a store.

Later on, when my wife couldn’t decide on dessert, Olivia brought us an extra one for her (at no charge) and said – “This is in case you don’t like the other one.”

Before we were getting ready to leave, she also brought us more bread in a box and a bog to take home with us… it was probably obvious how much we liked it.

Needless to say, when the bill came, I didn’t even hesitate to leave Olivia a very generous tip, much larger than usual.

And I’m willing to bet she gets these “unusually large” tips all the time.

Why?

Because she goes out of her way to serve people.

In a world where almost everyone just does their job, it is rare and surprising to see people go the extra mile to make their customers feel special, important and when they do, you just want to “reciprocate” with a larger tip, a compliment, and desire to continue doing business with them.

There’s a huge lesson in this.

Are you going the extra mile for your customers and downlines?

Are you doing MORE than expected?

Are people surprised by your attention to details and the willingness to do more even when you don’t have to?

I believe having this attitude will make a tremendous difference on the kind of business you have… the kind of people you attract… and how much money you end up making.

Once again Zig Ziglar’s most famous quote comes to mind…

“You can have everything in life that you want, if you help enough other people get what they want.”

And what do they want?

They want to feel special, important and appreciated.

And isn’t that what we ALL want?

Can you imagine?

Over 4,000 people including staff stranded for 5 days on a ship with no power, cold water and hardly any working toilets.

Cold dark nights, the smell of sewage in the rooms…

… I don’t have to describe it to you in detail as you can read all about it, but I bet there’s not one person that was boarding the ship a week earlier, who thought even for a second they’re in for a vacation from “hell.”

Sadly, most people treat their financial situation the same way.

They float through life, thinking it’s going to be ok, and never plan on someday being stuck in the middle of the ocean (or the Gulf of Mexico.)

Unlike those passengers though, most people have a choice and can prepare ahead of time, yet they don’t.

For some reason we all tend to think, it’s going to be ok, things will somehow work out.

Well my question to you is…

Or do you want MORE out of life?

I know the answer, because you wouldn’t be reading this if you didn’t want MORE.

But here’s the problem.

We, and I do mean myself included… we all get used to staying within the boundaries of our comfort zone, even if we think it’s not that comfortable.

The reality is, no matter how driven you are, by default you’ll always fall back to what’s comfortable and familiar.

And here’s the scary part…

Just because we have a “BIG GOAL” we somehow think we’re moving towards it EVEN IF days, weeks, and months go by without taking major action and actually doing what you need to do.

Truth is…

You’ll never reap the big rewards if you sit on the bench all day long just looking at others playing… even if you sit there for years.

You need to get off the bench and get into the game.

For most people that’s exactly what’s going to happen.

Or do you want this year to truly be life-changing?

Then in my humble opinion, here’s what you need to do.

Stop relying on all income outside of your business.

Even if it’s your spouse’s income.

To succeed, your back needs to be against the wall.

Very, very few people can do extraordinary things when they have some kind of a cushion.

You can’t mentally push yourself outside of your comfort zone, when you “know it’s going to be ok.”

You with me?

If you have a job that’s paying your bills, or another income source that’s letting you “take the time” to build this business…

CUT IT OFF!

Am I saying quit your job?

Well, that maybe a good idea, but not necessarily.

Clean out your checking account.

Starting this month, commit to paying your bills from your internet or network marketing business ONLY.

If you have another income source, stick it into a savings account and put it out of your sight.

It’s not there, you can’t touch it.

This is not exactly the same as REALLY not having another income source, but mentally when you look at an empty checking account and you know bills are coming up… a phenomena occurs.

You start seeing opportunities… creativity kicks in… and you discover a new source of energy to do more, sleep less and get things going.

Now here’s something interesting…

You don’t need to do this for a long time.

You just need to get MOVING.

When you start seeing some results, even a little, your belief in yourself and your ability to really do this business will shoot through the roof.

And that’s the moment when everything turns around and you’ll never have to worry about being stranded in the middle of the ocean.

The time do it though is NOW… TODAY… not when you’re 100′s of miles away from shore.
