I want to thank the most amazing team of professional customer service people I have ever come across!! I recently tried to order some fuses for our pellet stove. For some reason the website wouldn’t let me complete my order and pay, just kept saying that Googlerecapcha failed. I finally gave up intending to call the next day as this was on a Sunday. I got busy and forgot to call, but later that morning, I received a call from the most amazing lady! She noticed that I had tried to place an order several times so she called to see if she could help. I asked her if we could complete the order over the phone and she said she’d try. I was able to complete my order and unbeknownst to me, she discussed the reason I was ordering so many fuses with their tech man. Their tech man reached out to me via my email address discussing things we could try to fix our problem with stove blowing fuses. Then I was called back to make sure I found their email. This goes above and beyond! You definitely made my day and I want to shout it out to everyone!

One happy customer!

Call Your Insurance Provider -Simply give your homeowner-insurance provider a call to let them know the stove you are buying. Many agents will require a brief visit to the home before and/or after installation. Some policies may charge a nominal fee for the addition of a pellet stove. Don’t be surprised if your agent is excited about your choice in MagnuM brand, due to our high safety standards.

Check Out a Battery Back Up – It’s a good idea to have your pellet stove run through a heavy duty surge protector/battery back-up to be safe, and a great idea to explore complete battery back-up and other power supply options you have depending upon your goals, where you live, and your needs. Solar power is an option.

Make a Note in Your Tax File – Make a note to talk to your accountant at tax time for any existing or newly instated tax credits or other benefits available to you.

Find Your Cheapest Fuel- Whether you know a farmer who grows corn or you talk to your local store to see what they carry in shelled corn and wood pellets for pellet stoves, know all your area options so you can find what is cheapest to burn when you need it.

The best recommendation to prevent ash on your skin is to wear gloves. However, maintenance with our stoves and fireplaces is so quick and simple that it’s tempting to quick empty an ash pan.

Get Ash Off Your Skin

If you get some ash on your skin, stop what you are doing and wash it off before you touch something else. Wash as much as you can off with soapy warm water. If a stain persists, try a gentle exfoliate like baking soda or a pumice stone. For stains around your fingernails, rub a slice of lemon into your nails and finger tips. Rinse with soap and water. Lemon juice and exfoliates can leach moisture from your skin, so make sure you use a hand moisturizer.

How to get ash out of carpet

Ash is very fine and can smear very easily. Try not to step on the spot or rub the ash. Pick up any pieces (if possible) and then vacuum the spot with a hose attachment. Rolling a vacuum over a spot of ash is likely to spread it. From here, Good House Keeping has some tips on using dry solvents to remove ash from carpet.

Did you give up a long time ago on trying to save money while heating your drafty old house?

There’s something to be said about living in an older house with tons of charm and loads of character, often featuring open staircases, big windows, built-ins, and two stories. Drafts are not part of that charm, however, and many people find that updates to the insulation and roof don’t completely eliminate those pesky drafts.

Many people, grain farmers included, have discovered that the warm heat of corn or pellet stoves works well in heating drafty house. If you have corn or wheat (or both) that you’d like to use to heat your home, then the line of Magnum flex-fuel heating products is an excellent solution.

According to Holly Harz, “The Countryside stove keeps us warm even in our big old drafty house! It’s our primary source of heat all winter, and it even LOOKS nice in our central Family Room. I miss the fireplace from my childhood home, and being able to see the flames warms me inside as well as out. The Countryside paid for itself in savings the first year, and continues to keep our heating costs down. It has it all; lower cost and ease of use! Thanks for your service…”

“We have a Countryside Magnum,” says Lee Horton, “and we love it. Your safety measures work. Ran the stove on higher setting than they said we could, the stove got hot, shutdown and restarted with no problem. We had a different stove 2 years ago, and was nowhere close to being as good ~it keeps this old farm house warm.”

We had no trouble finding people willing to share their positive experiences with heating older homes. It seems that people across the country are finding corn, pellets, and wheat a viable solution to a warm, toasty home. “We purchased a Magnum Countryside. We don’t even turn on our other heat! If you don’t have a Magnum bio-fuel stove then you are throwing your money away! What a superbly engineered product!” words from Pete Raskovic another happy Countryside owner.

Hearing a lot about Magnum Pellet Stoves? That’s because customers rave about the heat and savings, and we think you will too!

Heating with corn is not a new option for homeowners, but for some this may be the first time they’ve given the method serious consideration. Whether traditional heating oil prices rise or become less available won’t matter if you make a plan to heat with renewable energy sources like corn and wood pellets.

American Energy Systems is known for excellent customer service. We’ll walk homeowners through the unknown process of heating with corn and getting started with this wonderful heat source. With no traditional chimney needed to install a pellet stove, it becomes a viable option for many people looking to enjoy a warmer house, lower heat bill, and lessen their footprint. Most people have already heard the praises of pellet stove heat from friends and family or read stories of people like them who’ve already made the switch.

However, here are a few more reasons heating with corn is a good decision this winter.

Heating with Corn Means Renewable Fuel

When you purchase a pellet stove, you have a lot of options in terms of selecting from 100 percent renewable fuel sources. A pellet stove runs on fuel that’s grown, not mined. No foreign oil needed either. When corn (wheat too) prices are low, you can stock up!

Heating with Corn Means Low Emissions

Pellet stoves rate as the most efficient of all solid-burning residential heating appliances, according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Renewable fuels burned in MagnuM pellet stoves burn completely and efficiently! Today’s design improvements allow hot air generated by your flame to be used most efficiently. Plus, radiant heat is something you can expect to enjoy beyond measure. This is the type of warm, clean heat that emanates from your pellet stove and isn’t something you get from a traditional furnace that is plopped out of sight and mind in the basement.

Heating with Corn Means Buying Local

The beauty of pellet stoves is that you can source your fuel locally and know exactly where it comes from. For instance, you could fuel your pellet stove with corn from a family member, friend, or farmer in your community. With a high-efficiency corn or pellet burning stove you could potentially heat your home exclusively with fuel from on your own property (like many farmers do) eliminating all transportation-related environmental costs. We have customers contact us all the time with creative ways they are reducing their heating costs by finding local renewable energy sources.

Heating with Pellet Stove Means Finding a Use for Waste

Did you know you can keep waste out of landfills by using a pellet stove? Wood pellets often are produced from discarded scraps, sawdust, and fallen trees. Paper pellets, cherry pits, and olive pits are some of the items that would end up in a landfill but creative people are finding ways to burn them for heat.

Heating with a Pellet Stove Means Using Less Construction Materials

New energy-efficient pellet stoves and fireplace inserts don’t require chimneys or elaborate duct work. You can save both on material costs and use fewer resources when you install these renewable energy appliances in existing homes, new construction, and remodel projects. You’ll be surprised how little space is needed to install a pellet stove, how fast the installation is, and the minimal materials needed to simply vent the pellet stove.

Tired of bundling up inside your house? Cold proof your house today with a pellet stove and stop with all the extra blankets, sweatshirts, and pairs of socks.

Life doesn’t have to be that way inside your own home on cold days. Gail Howell of Hemingway, South Carolina wrote about her experience with her Magnum pellet stove and how much she loves the “warm glow and soft flicker of an open flame.”

Gail is a customer of Alternative Heating Systems and Supply of Coward, SC. Gail is an example of how to “cold proof your house” when she turned to a pellet stove to heat her home.

She went on to share her appreciation for her appliance saying, “The gentle summer-like breeze. Ahhh…to be warm inside when it’s cold outside. The much lower electric bill is also very nice. You were right; just add a little corn with the wood pellets, and I’m in short sleeve tees instead of being all bundled up. Love it!”

Tough Winters Mean a Tough Heating Bill

The winters in Augusta, Maine can be brutal not only outside, but on one’s monthly heating budget as well. In February 2013, Jacob Michaud had had enough. He and his wife were burning through 200 gallons of fuel oil each month to heat their 3,500 square foot home. That translated into a monthly heating bill of $700 or more. The thermostat was set to a modest 69 degrees, with every degree fluctuation translating into serious dollars. Jacob admits that they were hyper-aware of even opening the front door too long or warming the house another degree, in fear of what it would cost them.

Jacob grew up in a house that used traditional oil, with a supplemental wood stove. He was aware of the savings associated with burning wood, but definitely didn’t want the hassle. When several of his friends and co-workers switched to pellet stove heat, Jacob was intrigued. “I would go over to my friend’s house and see how warm and toasty they all were. I kept hearing how much people liked their pellet stoves, and what other people were spending. I did the math, and it really was a logical choice.”

Jacob continues, “I found a great deal on a Magnum Countryside display unit, and did my homework. I called American Energy Systems and the heating technician knew exactly what I needed to help me get the pellet stove home, installed, and pumping out heat. I can’t speak highly enough about their customer service. This company is personable, very helpful, and their follow-up is impeccable. I know there are other pellet stove manufacturers out there, but I’m certain I wouldn’t get the same level of care and concern I get from the staff at American Energy Systems.”

Jacob’s first year owning and using a pellet stove, he experimented with several kinds of wood pellets. He’s found he prefers a quality wood pellet with a 35% soft wood content to generate the most heat in his stove. He’s considering giving corn a try, but is quite happy with the heat he’s getting now. Jacob estimated it saved him hundreds of dollars in the first few months alone! Imagine the savings after many years.

His advice for others considering a pellet stove? “Do the math. Spend a few minutes in someone’s home who has a pellet stove, and you’ll understand how much heat is generated for considerably less money. This Magnum Countryside pellet stove is minimal work, but the payoff is big!”
