Aba Abdillah (as) said: Janabe Fatima (as) died on the 3rd of Jamadi al-Thani, in 11 AH. The reason for her demise was that Qunfudh, the slave of Umar, struck her with the handle of his sword – as per Umar’s order. So (as a cause) Mohsin (as) was miscarried, and Fatima (as) became extremely sick. She did not allow anyone from those who hurt her to enter upon her.

The two men (who hurt her) – who were the companions of the Holy Prophet (sawa) – asked Ameer al-Mu’mineen, Imam Ali (as) to intercede on their behalf to her (as), so he (as) asked her (as). When they (the ones who hurt her) entered upon her (as), they said to her (audaciously): “How are you, oh daughter of the Prophet?” She (as) replied: “Well, Bihamdillah.” Then she (as) said: “Have you not heard the Prophet (sawa) say: “Fatima is a part of me, so whoever hurts her has indeed hurt me, and whoever hurts me has indeed hurt Allah?”

They replied: “Yes (we have heard it).” She said: “By Allah, you have both hurt me!”

He (Imam al-Sadiq (as)) said: “so they left her (as) while she was furious with them.”

Resurrection of the Body

Resurrection of the body is one of the cardinal beliefs of Islam; if anyone, knowing this fact, rejects it, he is not a Muslim at all. It will not be out of place to point out here that people are divided into four groups on this subject:-

1. There are atheists, who do not admit the existence of the Creator, and as a result, do not admit that He would resurrect us after our death.

In my book, God: An Islamic Perspective, enough has been written to show the baselessnes of atheism. Some more remarks will be given in the course of other discussions.

2. There are those who accept the existence of a Creator, but reject the idea of the resurrection of body. According to them, the reward and punishment mentioned in the Qur'an and Ahadith will be given to the soul only; the body will not be resurrected after death.

3. Those, like the Muslims, who believe that the Qiyamat will be for the body and soul together.

4. Agnostics, who say that they do not know, and in the nature of things, cannot know any thing about soul, or matters concerned with it. They neither admit nor reject the existence of the Creator or Day of Judgement.

When we look at the writings and arguments of those who refuse to believe in the resurrection of the bodies, it boils down to only one thing: Astonishment. How can the body be resurrected after death when it has already turned into dust?

There is no other argument to prove that the body cannot be resurrected. There is a sense of bewilderment as to how can it be done.

Allah has commented in numerous Ayats on this type of “argument”. A few Ayats are given here for enlightenment:-
“And if thou wouldst wonder, then wonderous is their saying: 'What, when we are dust would we really then be in a creation renewed?' These are they who disbelieve in their Lord; they are those round whose necks will be collars (of servitude): They will be companions of the fire; in it shall they abide” (Qur’an, 13:5)

Another group of Ayats :-

“O ye people! Fear your Lord; verily the quake of the Hour (ofjudgement) is a thing terrible.”

“The day ye shall see it, every suckling mother shall forget her sucking babe, and every pregnant female shall drop her load, and thou shalt see the people intoxicated, but they will not be drunk; but dreadful will be the wrath of Allah.”

“And yet among men there is he who disputes about Allah, without knowledge, and follows every rebellious Satan”

“Against him it is decreed that whosoever turns to him for friendship him will he lead astray and will guide him unto the torment of burning fire.”

“O ye people! If you be in doubt about the Resurrection, then verily We created you from dust, then from sperm, then from a clot, then from a lump of flesh, formed and (sometimes) unformed, in order that We may manifest (our power) to you; and We cause to stay in the womb what We will until an appointed time, then do We bring you out as babes, then (foster you) that you may reach your maturity, and of you is he who is caused to die. and of you is he who is brought back to the feeblest (state of) old age so that he knows nothing after knowing (much). And you behold the earth dried (dead) but when We send down on it the water it is stirred to life and swells up and produces every kind of aftractive herbage (in pairs).”

“This is because verily Allah, He is the Reality (Truth), and because verily He gives life unto the dead, and because verily He has power over all things.”

“And that the Hour (of Resurrection) is coming, there is no doubt therein; and that Allah will raise up those in the graves.” (Qur’an, 22:1-7)

In these Ayats, Allah gives two examples to show that Resurrection is not a thing to be wondered at. He reminds mankind that creating a thing is, by human thinking, more difficult than reassembling it after all its parts have disintegrated. Therefore, the Creator, who created the man in the first place can more easily resurrect him after all his body has become dust. (The words “more easily” have been used according to human thinking; so far as the power of Allah is concerned, every thing is easy for Him in equal degree).

Another example is that of a parched earth, which is thought “dead”, coming to life again as soon as Allah sends some rain upon it.

So, there is nothing strange if Allah makes us alive again after our death and disintegration.

It should be mentioned here that these arguments are effective against the second group, i.e., those who believe that there is a Creator, and still do not believe in the Resurrection of the bodies.

So far as the first group is concerned (those who do not believe in a Creator) they, first of all, should talk about the existence of God; the belief of Qiyamat would come after that.

43 - عقيدتنا في البعث والمعاد نعتقد أن الله تعالى يبعث الناس بعد الموت في خلق جديد في اليوم الموعود به عباده، فيثيب المطيعين ويعذب العاصين وهذا أمر على جملته وما عليه من البساطة في العقيدة اتفقت عليه الشرائع السماوية والفلاسفة، ولا محيص للمسلم من الاعتراف به عقيدة قرآنية جاء بها نبينا الأكرم صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم، فإن من يعتقد بالله اعتقادا قاطعا ويعتقد كذلك بمحمد رسولا منه أرسله بالهدى ودين الحق لا بد أن يؤمن بما أخبر به القرآن الكريم من البعث والثواب والعقاب والجنة والنعيم والنار والجحيم، وقد صرح القرآن بذلك ولمح إليه بما يقرب من ألف آية كريمة.

وإذا تطرق الشك في ذلك إلى شخص فليس إلا لشك يخالجه في صاحب الرسالة أو وجود خالق الكائنات أو قدرته، بل ليس إلا لشك يعتريه في أصل الأديان كلها وفي صحة الشرائع جميعها.

44 - عقيدتنا في المعاد الجسماني وبعد هذا، فالمعاد الجسماني بالخصوص ضرورة من ضروريات الدين الاسلامي، دل صريح القرآن الكريم عليها (أيحسب الانسانأن لن نجمع عظامه بلى قادرين على أن نسوي بنانه) " القيامة: 3 " (وإن تعجب فعجب قولهم أإذا كنا ترابا إنا لفي خلق جديد) " الرعد:

5 " (أفعيينا بالخلق الأول بل هم في لبس من خلق جديد) " ق:

14 ".

وما المعاد الجسماني على إجماله إلا إعادة الانسان في يوم البعث والنشور ببدنه بعد الخراب، وإرجاعه إلى هيئته الأولى بعد أن يصبح رميما. ولا يجب الاعتقاد في تفصيلات المعاد الجسماني أكثر من هذه العقيدة على بساطتها التي نادى بها القرآن، وأكثر مما يتبعها من الحساب والصراط والميزان والجنة والنار والثواب والعقاب بمقدار ما جاءت به التفصيلات القرآنية.

(ولا تجب المعرفة على التحقيق التي لا يصلها إلا صاحب النظر الدقيق، كالعلم بأن الأبدان هل تعود بذواتها أو إنما يعود ما يماثلها بهيئات، وأن الأرواح هل تعدم كالأجساد أو تبقى مستمرة حتى تتصل بالأبدان عند المعاد، وأن المعاد هل يختص بالانسان أو يجري على كافة ضروب الحيوان، وأن عودها بحكم الله دفعي أو تدريجي.

وإذا لزم الاعتقاد بالجنة والنار لا تلزم معرفة وجودهما الآن ولا العلم بأنهما في السماء أو الأرض أو يختلفان. وكذا إذ وجبت معرفة الميزان لا تجب معرفة أنها ميزان معنوية أولها كفتان ولا تلزم معرفة أن الصراط جسم دقيق أو هو الاستقامة المعنوية والغرض أنه لا يشترط في تحقيق الإسلام معرف أنها من الأجسام...) (1).

Who is Muawiyah ?

Holy Prophet (S) absolutely despised the Bani Umayyah. So much so that he had even cursed this clan. The accursed tree in the Holy Quran denotes Bani Umayyah according to the unanimous view of the interpreters of Quran. The Holy Prophet (S) says: “I dreamt that Bani Umayyah were jumping on my pulpit like monkeys.”1

I have also described how Bani Umayyah became the rulers of Shaam (Syria) and how the Arab Kingdom passed into their hands. The Holy Prophet (S), after ten years of efforts, had left Bani Umayyah so weak that now there remained no capacity for them to create mischief. But in order to save their Caliphate, Abu Bakr and Umar made the Chief of this tribe, Abu Sufyan, the ruler of Shaam. Since Abu Sufyan could not move to Shaam himself, his elder son, Yazeed Ibn Abu Sufyan was appointed the governor of Shaam. He died within a period of four years and Muawiyah took his position.

With this, began the worldly ascendancy of Bani Umayyah and its main promoters were Abu Bakr and Umar. Similarly, the two were also responsible for all the calamities that visited the family of the Messenger (S). Muawiyah is the fifth Caliph of Ahlul Sunnat. He became a Caliph by use of force, but the condition of consensus was also present in him. Below we describe the traits of Muawiyah:

On page 194 of Tarikhul Khulafa and in Izalatul Khifa, it is written that Muawiyah said: “Since the Prophet told me that when you become a king be kind to the subjects, I always vied for rulership.”

Indeed, whatever kindness he might have done to common people, he was indeed very kind to the family of the Prophet after he became the ruler! The reward of this kindness will definitely, be given to him on the Day of Recompense by Ali (a.s.), Hasan (a.s.) and their numerous companions. The Prophet must have learnt through divine intuition, what Muawiyah was about to do, that is why he told him to be kind to the creatures of Allah.

Jabir bin Saad is reported to have said in Sahih Muslim2 that Muawiyah asked Saad bin Abi Waqqas why he did not curse Ali (a.s.)? It is also written in Asaatul Labeeb that Muawiyah forcibly told people not to relate any tradition in favor of Ali (a.s.) and no one should narrate any tradition from that person. Tarikh Abul Fida3 says:

In the initial period of the Caliphate of Imam Hasan (a.s.), in 41 A.H. upto 99 A.H., the Bani Umayyah Caliphs recited curses on Ali (a.s.) from pulpits till Umar Ibn Abdul Aziz discontinued the practice.4

It is also written in Tarikh Abul Fida5 that the agents of Muawiyah used to recite curse on Ali (a.s.) in the sermon of Friday prayers. In the same way, in Izalatul Khifa6 it is seen that Muawiyah told his officials: “You all force to curse Ali, anyone who praises him.” Thus, the preachers began to recite curse on Ali (a.s.) from the pulpits throughout the kingdom of Shaam. At that time, Shias of Kufa were under very perilous circumstances. No well-known Shia personality survived.

Muawiyah had written to his officers that if any Shia of Ali was in any government post, he should be expelled and he should not be paid any compensation. Anyone found having regard for Ali should be put to the sword and his house should be demolished. In those days, if a Shia visited another Shia, it was in an extremely secret manner. They would only open themselves up when they are absolutely certain they would not be exposed.

Masters were in fear of their slaves and maids and used to take oaths from them that they would not betray their Shia faith or they shall be destroyed. The time of the passing away of Imam Husayn (a.s.) was the most difficult period. They spent their life in dissimulation (Taqayyah). After the martyrdom of Imam Husayn (a.s.), Abdul Malik bin Marwan became the Caliph. The period was no better for Shias. The order of the Caliph was that people should practice hatred of Ali – as it was actual piety.

In Tarikhul Khulafa7 it is seen that the people of Shaam raised the pages of Quran as per the advice of Muawiyah. What an intelligent way to use the Quran! Muawiyah was indeed incomparable in deceitful ways. It is written on page 76 of Dar Asaatul Labeeb that Muawiyah started many innovations. The chief of them being kissing the Rukne Yamani8 in Kaaba and omitting Bismillaah (In the name of Allah…) etc.

The same book says, that when Imam Hasan (a.s.) passed away, Muawiyah said: “It was a spark that has now become silent.” Followers of Muawiyah must also consider Imam Hasan (a.s.) as a spark, and like their leader, should also celebrate the martyrdom of Imam Husayn (a.s.). If you really follow Muawiyah, you must act as he did. The Holy Prophet (S) would indeed intercede for such Muslims of Muawiyah on Judgment Day and their intercession is guaranteed. They must continue to follow Muawiyah.

Where is Mahdi (PBUH) right now? Is he in cave?

Imam Mahdi disappeared in 260/874 when he became Imam. The last time that he was seen, was in the cellar of his father's house in Samarra, Iraq. That is what is rumored regarding Shia that they believe Mahdi is in the cave!!!

Shia do NOT believe that Imam Mahdi is in the Cave or Cellar! He was just seen there for the last time. He can be anywhere Allah wishes. However one thing is clear is that he lives on the earth among people while people around him do not perceive and know him.

Second, with regards to the occultation of Imam al-Mahdi (PBUH), the Quran does NOT rule out such an occurrence at all. Again, the examples of Jesus (PBUH) and al-Khidr (PBUH), who are both in occultation, are worthy of mentioning.

Moreover, some of prophets of Allah have gone to occultation for a period of time. For instance, prophet Moses (PBUH) went to occultation for one time. When Almighty Allah summon Moses to go to Mountain for forty days. He appointed Aeron instead of himself and went to Mountain. Holy Quran says:

“And when We made an appointment with Moses for forty nights…”(2:51).

Based on the verse prophet Moses left his community for forty days and nights and went to Mountain and concealed from people eyes.

How a five year old boy can become an Imam for the people?

Answer 1:

First, we must question whether or not in the history of religion, the phenomenon of young leaders has a parallel. Undoubtedly, there is. The Quran strikes two examples which are worthy of mentioning:

We have the example of Jesus (PBUH) who became Prophet and spoke people when he was a baby in the cradle:

"But she pointed to the baby. They said: `How can we talk to one who is a CHILD in the cradle?' He said: `I am indeed a servant of Allah. He HAS GIVEN me Scripture and ASSIGNED me a Prophet, and He has made me blessed wherever I be, and has enjoined on me Prayer and zakat as long as I live.'" (Holy Quran 19:29-31)

Thus Jesus (PBUH) became a Prophet and received revelation and book while he was less than one year old!

Furthermore, in few verses before, Quran mentions the case of Prophet Yahya (John), to whom Allah said:

"O Yahya! Take hold of the Book with might:' And We gave him the appointment (of prophethood) in his CHILDHOOD." (The Quran 19:12)

So if a two-year old boy can become a prophet and receives revelation, then why cannot a five-year old boy become Imam?

Have you ever heard of prodigies? They are kids between the ages of four to 18 that exhibit signs of exceptional skills that are usually found in highly qualified adults only. Here are some examples from history:

"John Stuart Mill (1806-73), a 19th-century English philosopher and economist, advocated utilitarian reforms in his many writings and as member of Parliament. A child prodigy, Mill had mastered Greek by the age of 7 and studied economics at the age of 13. His works express his social thought with great clarity and thoroughness. (The Bettmann Archive)"

"The French thinker, mathematician, and scientist Blaise Pascal, b. June 19, 1623, d. Aug. 19, 1662, has been credited not only with imaginative and subtle work in geometry and other branches of mathematics, but with profoundly influencing later generations of theologians and philosophers. A prodigy in mathematics, Pascal had mastered Euclid's Elements by the age of 12. Pascal invented and sold the first calculating machine (1645)."

"Wolfgang was the greatest musical child prodigy who ever lived. He began composing minuets at the age of 5 and symphonies at 9."

"Beethoven's own talent was such that at the age of 12 he was already an assistant to the organist Christian Gottlob Neefe, with whom he studied."

"Sarah Caldwell, born Maryville, Mo., Mar. 6, 1924, is a conductor and producer. A child prodigy in both mathematics and music, before reaching the age of ten."

While not exhaustive, the list serves the purpose of demonstrating that this phenomenon occurs naturally among normal human beings from all walks of life. So scientifically speaking, it is quite possible that a child demonstrates abilities that adults cannot. Also religiously speaking anything Allah desires will happen no matter how strange. Indeed Allah asserts unequivocally in Quran that if He wanted something, all He has to do is to say to it: "Be! and it will be!".

How was Salahuddin Ayyubi?

1. Shia view on every person is according to his obedience or disobedience to the orders of Allah SWT) and the Prophet (SAWA). We love and respect any pious person who obeyed Allah and His Messenger and vice versa, we don't like nor respect those who disobeyed Allah and His Messenger.

2. Salah Uddin al-Ayyubi was a dictator ruler who captured the rule over Egypt and many other countries through bloodshed. Sunni books especially al-Maqreezi in al-Khitai, mentioned details of his battles against Muslims in many areas and his killing thousands of Muslims just to take the government on them.
3. Salah Uddin al-Ayyubi killed many scholars including al-Sahrawardi who was a well known Sunni Sufi scholar. He killed hundreds of Shia scholars in Egypt and Aleppo and other places for no crime but just out of hatred to Ahlul Bayt (AS).

4. He travelled to hundreds of places but never performed Hajj at all.

5. He was drinking alcohol daily as it is recorded in his daily minutes which was recently published in many volumes.
6. He refused to allow the Abbasid Caliph (Al-Nasser) to send his army to remove the crusaders from Palestine fearing on his chair. He joined hands with the crusaders allowing them to rule over almost all Palestine except parts of Quds. He became an ally of the crusaders and arranged marriage of his brother with the sister of the crusaders king.

7. He destroyed all schools of Shia scholars and closed down al-Azhar because it was established by the Shia . It remained closed for 104 years.

8. He burned thousands of valuable books and destroyed the libraries in Egypt just because it was established by Shia.

9. He burned thousands of Sudani Muslims alive who were besieged by his army.

10. He used to kill any Muslim who refuses to leave Ahlul Bayt till he forced people in Egypt to follow his own sect by his sword.

These are few facts about Salahuddin al-Ayyubi. More details can be found in many Sunni books like al-Khitat by al- Maqreezi and other books of history.

Who is the rope of Allah (hablulallah) ?

وَاعتَصِموا بِحَبلِ اللَّهِ جَميعًا وَلا تَفَرَّقوا

And hold fast by the covenant (rope) of Allah all together and be not disunited… (Surah Ale-Imran 3:103) #Quran

That #Ali Ibne Abi Talib is ‘hablulallah matin’. It means the tight rope of Allah. 

Another tradition from Imam Baqir (a.s.) says that the progeny of the Holy Prophet (S) is the rope of Allah, for whom Allah has commanded in this verse.

Also there is a tradition from Imam Sadiq (a.s.) that he said: We are the rope of Allah.

Ali Ibne Ibrahim has narrated that ‘Hablullah’ means the Oneness (Tawheed) of Allah and the Mastership (Wilayat) of Ahlul Bayt (a.s.).

Also there is a saying of Imam Baqir (a.s.) on the verse:

and be not disunited… (Surah Ale-Imran 3:103)

The Imam said that Allah was knowing that this nation would be separated from its Prophet and they will have difference with him. That is why he stopped them from the difference as the nation which was before them was prohibited. tuba ki haqiqat gunah se pashemaan hona hai is lie kha gaya hai ke pashemaani he haqiqi tuba hai or haqiqi pashemaani ye hai ke insaan hamesha ke lie gunah choorne ka mustehkam irada kare , agar is ka gunah haqqullah hai tu allah ki baarga me maqfirat talab kare , agar is amal ki qaza ye kaffara ho tu wo ada kare or agar haqqqunnaas hai ( masalan kise ka maal lia ho) tu ise raazi kare or agar aisa karne se is ki tuheen hote hai hadiye se ise desakta hai ya phir is ke account me (maal jo is ka lia tha) beaje de tuba faqat astaqferullaha khene se nahe hote balke mustehkam irada ho ho kr gunah se dori kare .
