This time we are a little bit late but...~~First~~ Second Monday of the month = Tribute nail art post!
Despite the lack of time (I'm not posting nor swatching lately) I really couldn't skip this "date"!!
This month we picked another mani by TheHangEdit:

Stavolta siamo arrivate un po' lunghe, non è il primo, ma il secondo lunedì del mese. Nonostante il poco tempo libero (non riesco né a swatchare né a postare ultimamente), ci tenevo a fare almeno la manicure "inspired by".

Quindi eccola qua, per questo mese abbiamo scelto un'altra nail art di TheHangEdit:

My attempt - Il mio tentativo

This one seemed so simple...But at first I had to study the photo quite carefully, as I couldn't understand if the base was a black-nude or simply a negative space on very short nails (no free/white edge).
As my nails are quite longer I decided to apply a nude base, then painted the upper half in black. After that the complicated part: the flowers! They seemed so easy and simple, but they drove me nuts: I think I drew and removed them (luckily I used acrylics) at least 20 times. Then I gave up and decided to accept that they would never be similar to Hang Nguyen's ones.
Maybe next time I'll try stamping them!

La foto-ispirazione inizialmente mi ha lasciata un po' perplessa, perché non riuscivo a capire se si trattasse di un abbinamento nero-nude o di una negative space su unghie molto corte, senza linea bianca.
Comunque fosse, considerato che ho le unghie lunghe e la parte bianca si sarebbe vista nettamente, ho preferito stendere prima uno smalto beige per uniformare lo sfondo, poi ho dipinto la parte superiore di nero.
E lì sono cominciati i dolori, perché non riuscivo a disegnare quei fiorellini apparentemente lineari e semplici. Li avrò fatti e cancellati venti volte (per fortuna con gli acrilici).
Alla fine (stanca morta e un po' esaurita) mi sono rassegnata a lasciarli così. Poi ripensandoci...Avrei potuto provare ad farli con lo stamping.
Comunque l'idea della base bicolore è molto carina (e facilissima da fare, come "guida" ho usato del washi tape), di sicuro la riproverò.

This time acrylics were required, so I finally opened the ones I bought many years ago; talking about dated nail art supplies, for this occasion I also unwrapped the Kiko fan brush that has been hiding in my drawer for years!

I have to say that I always feared using acrylics, but I was so wrong: it felt great to erase any unsatisfying results just using some water and soap :-D

Still, I had some issues with this nail art, because my Kiko brush had very dense bristles and stripes came out really wide.

I wasn't happy with the first mani, so I decided to try again, this time using an Elf makeup fan brush, with longer and thinner bristles.

Here are my pics, as usually at the standard "eye-hand" distance the mani seems quite neat :-P, whereas in macro pics all flaws are visible; I really liked the striped effect (it made me think about the sea), I will definitely try this technique again!

Questa volta gli acrilici erano proprio d'obbligo, così ho finalmente aperto la scatola di colori che avevo comprato parecchi anni fa, e mi sono cimentata con tubetti e pennello a ventaglio (anche quello un vecchissimo acquisto Kiko, finora mai usato).

Non so perché temessi tanto di usare gli acrilici...Avevo decisamente sottovalutato il vantaggio di poter cancellare risultati poco edificanti con una semplice passata d'acqua e sapone :-D

Detto questo, mi sono trovata comunque in difficoltà, perché il pennello che avevo era troppo fitto e le strisce sulle unghie risultavano troppo grosse.

Così ho provato a rifare il tutto, stavolta usando un pennello a ventaglio da trucco Elf (che avevo da secoli e che tanto non userò mai :-P), con setole più lunghe e meno compatte.

Ecco qua le mie foto, devo dire che, al solito, a distanza "occhio-mano" si vedono meno le imprecisioni. L'effetto quasi "mare sulle unghie" di questa manicure mi è piaciuto molto, vorrei riutilizzare a breve questa tecnica, anche con altri colori.

Swatch: Kiko 362 Rosso Papavero - Poppy Red

In my latest swatch post I promised to show you something more colorful soon...But when I checked my swatches I realized I've got so many dark green and purples in my "pic drafts" folder :-P.

Anyway the first bright swatch I found is this one, a Kiko I bought during sales (from old, almost discontinued and beloved Nail Lacquer line): its name is Poppy Red.

It's an intense and slightly cool red, very pigmented (as you can see on the "first coat" picture), for these swatches (pics with bottle) I applied two coats as usually, no top coat.

La penultima volta avevo promesso un post più colorato...Ma andando a sbirciare tra le foto più recenti ho trovato un sacco di verde e viola scuro :-P

La prima cosa brillante che ho trovato è stato questo Kiko comprato ai saldi (sempre della cara vecchia linea Nail Lacquer). Si chiama Rosso Papavero ed è davvero un bel rosso vivace, dal tono leggermente freddo.

Molto pigmentato, come vedete dalla foto della prima passata; per il resto delle foto (con boccetta) ho applicato le canoniche due mani, niente top coat.

My attempt - Il mio tentativo

Unfortunately I underestimated the technical difficulty of this manicure and prepared it too late (last Saturday/Sunday, when I had no time left to re-do it).
I love half moon designs, but I didn't realize that it's easy to do them...on a light base: you cover the lunula with something (I usually do it with hole reinforcements) and paint the rest with polish. But here there was a clear base with a black half moon, so I had to find a guide to separate the lunula from the rest: I couldn't find any curved tip guides, as the usual "french tip" were too straight compared to the shape of the original mani, so I ended up using a brush to draw the half moon (and I have zero freehand skills); moreover the black polish flooded my cuticles and was a real PITA to clean up.
Also the tips came out "meh": the guides didn't stick perfectly and the result was not well-defined, so I tried to level them off using the nail polish brush, applying another coat, but then they came out too thick compared to the rest.
Last but not least, I decided to use my Seche as a top coat (to avoid smearing on clear base), but it is was too gloppy and the surface was even more "thick" and uneven. A real disaster!

I'm very unhappy about this mani ç_ç, but it's mainly my fault (I should have prepared it earlier) and...A twinsie is a twinsie, so I'm posting it all the same. Please forgive me!

Purtroppo ho sottovalutato la difficoltà "tecnica" di questa manicure e mi sono trovata a prepararla all'ultimo momento. Credevo sarebbe stata una passeggiata di salute, invece non avevo previsto alcune complicazioni: ovvero fare una half moon è facile se la lunetta è più chiara del resto (cioè la copri con la sagoma/mezzo salvabuchi e colori il resto), se invece devi colorare solo la parte superiore la cosa è un po' più incasinata. Dico solo che ho sclerato per trovare una tip decente (rispetto alla foto "ispirazione" le mie guide da french erano troppo poco curvate) e alla fine mi sono trovata a rifinire il semicerchio con un pennellino. E per me con manualità zero è stato un dramma! Per non parlare del nero finito sotto le cuticole ç_ç

Idem la punta, il risultato con le guide non è stato nettissimo, così ho dato un'altra pennellata per sistemare il livello della linea (ma poi si notava il doppio strato rispetto al resto).
Ciliegina sulla torta, per coprire/livellare tutto ho pensato bene di usare il Seche (non volevo rischiare sbavature), ma siccome ormai è bello denso (al limite del colloso) l'effetto è stato quello di una colata (non molto uniforme) di cemento.

Insomma mi è venuta una mezza schifezza di cui non vado per nulla fiera, ma prima di tutto è colpa mia, perché avrei dovuto prepararla prima, poi una twinsie è twinsie, quindi la posto lo stesso! E chiedo perdono!

Swatch: Kiko Shades of Black 004 Blu Notte - Midnight Blue

I know that Summer is not the right season for an almost-black polish ^_^ but I really wanted to show you another Kiko Shades of Black polish (the next post will be more colorful, I promise)!

This one is 004 Midnight Blue: the result after the first coat depends on how loaded was the brush, but after a second one you get a very dark/almost black blue. As you can see the polish is super glossy also on its own.

Needless to say, I love also this one, it might be useful also as a base for nail art or sheer polishes (for instance some magnetic ones).

So che non è proprio stagione da scurissimi...Ma volevo andare avanti la serie dei Kiko Shades of Black, quindi oggi ve ne ~~propino~~ propongo uno (il prossimo post sarà più colorato, prometto).

Questo è il numero 04 Blu Notte: il risultato dopo la prima mano dipende da quanto è carico il pennello, dopo due passate il colore diventa un blu scurissimo, praticamente nero. Come vedete nelle foto lo smalto è lucidissimo anche da solo.

Inutile dire che adoro anche questo super scuro, tra l'altro utilissimo da utilizzare come base per nail art o smalti non molto coprenti (tipo certi magnetici).

Swatch: El Corazón Active Bio Gel N. 423/1041 [Bird of Happiness]

Hi!

The polish I'm showing you today has been quite challenging (photographically speaking), but I'm really happy to finally post it, as it's a great Summer shade and also because it's the first El Corazón here on the blog (and IMO this is a brand that deserves a lot of attention).

In case you are not familiar with it, El Corazón (despite the name) is a Russian brand: they produce nail polishes, nail art accessories and also make up.

Sooner or later I'll manage to write a "haul post" about their e-store, but for now let's see this polish: it belongs to their Active Bio-Gel line (it's nail polish, not gel), Bird of Happiness collection, unfortunately it has no name, just a number (1041).

As I've said before it's a wonderful Summer color: azure-sea green with tiny silver/holo flakes and a fine light green shimmer.

It looks different according to lighting: direct sunlight makes the holo particles pop out, whereas indoors or under electric lighting the shimmer stands out, and the polish looks a little bit greener.

The brush is quite slender, but application was a breeze even on my wide nails: two coats for these swatches.

Last but not least, a bottle contains a generous amount of polish (16 ml) and costs 210 rubles (current Euro value 2.85).

I hope you like it, I fell in love with this shade/finish and grabbed also its purple "Bird of Happiness" companion (coming soon).

Lo smalto che vi mostrerò oggi è stato abbastanza impegnativo in termini di resa fotografica, ma sono felicissima di essere riuscita finalmente a postarlo, innanzitutto perché è un colore stupendo super estivo e poi perché è il primo smalto di El Corazón che appare sul blog, e questo marchio secondo me merita davvero attenzione.

Breve premessa: El Corazón, a dispetto del nome, è un marchio russo. Oltre agli smalti (tanti) producono anche accessori per nail art/stamping e un sacco di altri prodotti cosmetici. Prima o poi riuscirò a fare anche un post haul sulle mie esperienze shopping dal loro e-store...
Ma intanto lo smalto, che appartiene alla linea Active Bio Gel (collezione Bird of Happiness); purtroppo non ha un nome, solo il numero (1041).

Come dicevo prima, il colore è perfetto per l'estate: un azzurro-verde mare con piccoli flakes argento olografici e un sottile shimmer verde chiaro.

A seconda della luce l'effetto cambia: al sole risaltano le particelle olografiche e lo smalto sembra più azzurro, mentre in interni o con luce artificiale emerge lo shimmer, che lo fa virare più al verde.

Il pennello è sottile, ma l'applicazione risulta molto buona, anche per chi ha le unghie larghe come le mie: due passate per queste foto.

Ultimo dettaglio: la boccetta è decisamente capiente, ben 16 ml; il prezzo attuale è di 210 rubli = 2.85€ circa.

Spero vi piaccia, io mi sono innamorata di questo colore e mi sono procurata anche il fratellino viola della collezione (sarà tra i prossimi post).

My attempt - Il mio tentativo

The hardest thing for me was picking the shades, I was sure I had tons of similar colors, but actually I couldn't find exact dupes, especially of the third "wisteria" color, so eventually I gave up and used a darker shade of violet.

Now watching the pictures side by side on my post I realize I should have picked three completely different shades, lighter and also more "neon"...-_-

As for the tape, I decided skipping the "diy" phase (me + scissors + tape = uneven stripes) and finally used some tip guides I bought many months (or maybe years) ago: the pattern is still a "zigzag", but has sharper angles.

For these reasons my mani came out quite different from the original one: darker and more pointed, but I'm very happy I made the effort and won my nail-art laziness, thanks Rebe!!!

I was really proud of this flashy manicure (and IRL the small flaws were not that visible, it looked more "neat"), even my husband noticed it and I got compliments from unexpected people (not nails related)!
On the other side, my colleagues avoided any comments...I suppose it was a little bit "too much" for them :-D

Last but not least, here are the polishes I used:
Essence Colour&Go 26 Break Through (one of my first swatches...quite ugly :-P)
Shaka 507 Spring Passion
Kiko 333 Viola Brillante (I still haven't swatched it, but I'm afraid I already own a couple of dupes).

Una delle cose più impegnative per me è stato scegliere i colori, avrei giurato di averne a decine di simili, invece mi sono trovata in difficoltà ad individuare dei gemelli dei laccati usati nel post originale, soprattutto l'ultimo; alla fine mi sono arresa e ho usato un viola molto più scuro. Riguardando adesso il tutto mi rendo conto che avrei dovuto scegliere proprio tre smalti diversi, più chiari e magari più "neon".

Per quanto riguarda le righe, invece di tagliare lo scotch (vista la mia scarsa manualità avrei fatto strisce sicuramente irregolari) ho optato per delle tip guides che avevo preso anni fa e che stavano languendo in un cassetto, in attesa dell'ispirazione: sempre a zig zag, ma con angoli un po' più aguzzi.

Quindi alla fine il risultato è stato diverso dall'originale -_-: più scuro e più a zig-zag, ma sono contentissima di averci provato ed essere riuscita a vincere la mia nail art-pigrizia, tutto merito di Rebenice!

Tra l'altro guardando le foto da vicino, mentre le editavo, ho notato un sacco di piccole imperfezioni ç_ç, fortunatamente "dal vivo" non erano così evidenti e il risultato sembrava abbastanza preciso.

Questa manicure era decisamente vistosa e ne sono stata molto fiera, nonostante fosse un po' più "vivace" del mio standard, l'ha notata perfino l'Ing. e ho ricevuto complimenti da persone inaspettate, mentre le colleghe non hanno neanche osato commentarla (questo dimostra quanto fosse "carica" :-P rispetto al mio solito).

Swatch: Chanel 510 Gitane

I was browsing my pictures, looking for inspiration...Then I found this bright Chanel, lent me by my friend Irene a couple weeks ago!

It's n. 510 Gitane, released in 2016 when Chanel reformulated their "Le Vernis" nail polish (that became "Le Vernis Long Wear"); they changed also the look of the bottle, moving the name of the polish from the front to the back (actually I prefer the old, more practical, version).

Gitane is a bright "chili pepper" red creme, quite pigmented (check the "first coat" pictures), for these swatches (pics with bottle) I applied the usual two.

No top coat, the polish is very glossy on its own!

Stavo cercando l'ispirazione per un post e sfogliando le foto recenti ho trovato questo coloratissimo Chanel: il n. 510 Gitane.

La boccetta mi è stata prestata dalla mia amica Irene :-* e cercando un po' di notizie sullo smalto ho appurato che Gitane è uscito nel 2016, quando Chanel ha riformulato gli smalti (passando da Le Vernis a Le Vernis Long Wear. Anche la boccetta è cambiata un po', infatti il nome non si trova più sul davanti, ma sul retro; io onestamente preferivo la versione precedente, con il nome in bella vista.

Lo smalto è un rosso intenso (carico ma non scuro), tipo "peperoncino"; molto pigmentato, come vedete dalla foto della prima passata. Per questi swatch (tutte le foto con boccetta) ne ho applicate due, niente top coat (lo smalto è così bello lucido già da solo).

Swatch: Polish Alcoholic Dungeons & Dragons

I've been doing a lot of swatches lately (it's great to finally have long daylight hours and sunny days), but then I can't find the time to edit pictures and write posts...

Today the weather was quite cloudy, so I sit in front of my PC, determined to prepare a couple of posts...Or at least one :-P

I decided to start with a polish from a very interesting indie brand I discovered thanks to my friend Stregalice: Polish Alcoholic. These polishes are hand blended by Sabrina (on Instagram she often swatches also other indie brands) and 5-free; you can find them in her Etsy store (she's located in The Netherlands).

This one is named Dungeons & Dragons and it belongs to the Winter Collection released last January (six shades inspired by "Stranger Things").

The polish is gorgeous: the base color is a sort of sage-pine green, quite sheer (on the website she defines it as "Is it green? Is it blue? It's in between with a slight grey undertone") and filled with holo particles and golden/pink microflakes (again, according to the website "this polish is packed with the so called Unicorn pigment (not to be confused with Unicorn Pee!").

The overall effect is amazing, I couldn't stop staring at the bottle under sunlight and had to post a short video on Instagram. Mesmerizing!

The polish is easy to apply and quite sheer (probably to let the flakes spark through), as you can see on my "first coat" picture; for these swatches I applied three coats (consider that I have quite wide/long nails).

And now let's see the pictures, I took tons of them...I hope you like this polish as much as I do!

Ultimamente, complici le belle giornate, sto facendo parecchi swatch...Quello che mi manca poi è il tempo di editare le foto e scrivere i post!

Oggi invece qui il tempo non è stato splendido, per cui mi sono seduta al pc con impegno :-P, sperando di riuscire a preparare almeno un paio di post.

Intanto uno, per iniziare alla grande il mese di maggio: uno smalto di un marchio indie che ho scoperto di recente grazie alla mia smaltamica Stregalice :-*.

Si tratta di Polish Alcoholic: gli smalti sono creati artigianalmente da Sabrina, una ragazza olandese gentilissima, presente su Instagram anche come "swatcher" di altri marchi indie, e sono tutti 5-free (li trovate sul suo negozio Etsy).

Questo di oggi appartiene alla collezione invernale uscita lo scorso gennaio e composta da sei colori a tema "Stranger Things": si tratta di Dungeons & Dragons ed è uno smalto veramente bellissimo e particolare.

Partiamo dal colore di base, un verde salvia/bosco (lei lo definisce "tra il verde e il blu, con un leggero sottotono grigio") abbastanza leggero, arricchito da particelle holo sottilissime e da microflakes rosa e dorati.

L'effetto è stupendo, sia in boccetta (ho fatto un mini video, non riuscivo a smettere di guardare come cambiava il colore in boccetta) sia sulle unghie, dove a seconda dell'angolazione cambia il riflesso rosa/dorato sulla base.

Lo smalto è facile da stendere e non coprentissimo (vedere foto prima passata), probabilmente per non "spegnere" i flakes. Sulle mie unghie (larghe e abbastanza lunghe) tre passate per questi swatch.

Largo alle foto, ne ho fatte tantissime...Spero lo smalto vi piaccia quanto è piaciuto a me!

Il post inutile - The useless post: Kiko Perfect Star Gel Duo 02-03-04

I've been thinking for a while about a new type of blog post: the useless one :-P.

Because...What's the point of posting pictures of LE polishes that now are unobtainable? Yet I still keep on my pc some dated swatches of now vanished polishes; I liked them, but they never made it to a proper post, due to lack of time or "hard time", and I dont' feel like simply putting them in the bin.

Back in the good old times me and my nailblogger mates arranged recurring "Discontinued Day" posts for these items, but doing them alone doesn't feel the same.

Eventually I decided to post them, considering what was the "spirit" of the blog when I first started it: sharing my passion for polishes, without the stress of being always "up to date"....Anyway I promise these "zombi" polishes won't appear here too often :-D

After this long introduction...Today I'll show you a couple polishes from a Kiko Limited Edition released at the end of 2015 (Christmas collection): they were sold as a nail polish + top coat set (Perfect Star Gel Duo) in a nice red ornament/box (see first picture).
I don't like sets very much (I prefer picking the single polishes), but during January sales at first I bought one set with my friend Irene: I kept the polish and she brought home the top coat. The following day I found more sets in a different Kiko store and I couldn't resist those flakes (the top coat seemed also quite good) and at the end of the fair I got three out of four shades.

Here below you can find the swatches, on their own and with top coat (very glossy and rich, according to their handout "the combination of colour and top coat guarantees maximum gloss and intense seal thanks to the exclusive technology that is activated with natural light").

E' da un po' che medito su una nuova tipologia di post: quella dello swatch inutile :-P.

Che senso ha, mi chiedo, pubblicare oggi foto di smalti limited edition di qualche anno fa, ormai introvabili?

Ai tempi li avevo fotografati, magari mi erano anche piaciuti molto, ma gli swatch poi sono rimasti nel mio pc, vittime del poco tempo o dei vari periodi no...E non riesco a decidermi a cestinarli.
Ai bei tempi, con le altre smaltamiche, per questi casi c'era il Discontinued Day, ma farlo da sola non è la stessa cosa...

Insomma dopo varie riflessioni, visto che in fondo il blog è nato, senza grandi pretese di essere "sul pezzo", soprattutto per esternare/condividere la mia passione per gli smalti, ho deciso di pubblicarli comunque (mi scuso per la loro poca utilità, cercherò di postare qui smalti zombi solo ogni tanto ^_^).

Ecco andata la premessa papiro (solo per questo primo post, prometto), vediamo gli inutili di oggi.

Si tratta di un'edizione limitata Kiko uscita a Natale 2015 come set di smalto e top coat (Perfect Star Gel Duo); io non amo molto i set (perché obbligarmi a prendere gli smalti in blocco??), ma approfittando dei saldi, agli inizi del 2016, mi ero portata a casa un paio di kit, contenuti nella simpatica scatolina natalizia rossa che vedete nella prima foto.

In realtà avevo iniziato dividendone uno con la mia amica Irene: a me lo smalto, a lei il top coat...Poi il giorno dopo avevo trovato altri due colori nel Kiko vicino casa e non ero riuscita a resistere ai microflakes (ed il top coat tutto sommato mi sembrava buono - cosa che confermo, ne sto usando uno tuttora). Alla fine mi son presa tre colori sui quattro disponibili; l'unica cosa che non ho apprezzato molto è il gigatappo rotondo, che ho trovato un po' scomodo.

Vediamoli un po', prima da soli e poi con il top coat effetto gel (effettivamente molto lucido e corposo - sul foglietto allegato si parla di "brillantezza e intensa tenuta grazie a una tecnologia esclusiva che si attiva con la luce naturale):

Bright red with micro flakes, very pigmented: practically a one coater; anyway I applied the standard two layers for these swatches.

Rosso acceso con microflakes, molto pigmentato, praticamente perfetto già dopo la prima passata, comunque date le solite due per lo swatch.

03 Artistic Plum

+ top coat

Warm purple with microflakes, two thick coats for this swatch, it looked almost burgundy indoors.

Viola caldo con microflakes, due passate dense nelle foto; in interni sembrava quasi un bordeaux.

04 Spontaneous Pink

+ top coat

Magenta with pink microflakes, two coats for this swatch, but also this one was a one coater.

Magenta con microflakes, nelle foto vedete il risultato dopo due passate, ma già la prima era sufficientemente coprente.

Swatch: Kiko Shades of Black 002 Melanzana - Aubergine

After making the first skittle of "Shades of Black" Kiko polishes I committed myself to prepare swatches of each polish: in fact I took pictures of four of them, but this is the first time I am satisfied with the result. Earlier I didn't like either my nails (too short), lighting (sun too dim) or even my swatching ability (I got rusty)!
Luckily last Sunday it was quite sunny, my nails were long enough :-P and I finally managed to swatch properly one of them!

The lucky one is n. 002 Aubergine: after the first coat its dark burgundy shade is distinguishable (and its intensity depends on how "loaded" was the brush), but after the second coat it becomes almost black.
I didn't apply top coat, as the polish dries super glossy <3, I hope it is visible in my pics.
Application is great, the polish is easy to apply but not runny; the only thing I noticed wearing it for a couple of days was the proneness to tip wear, but this is an issue I usually have with creme polishes.

Dopo aver fatto la skittle degli smalti Shades of Black Kiko mi ero impegnata a postarli uno alla volta, ma pur avendone swatchati quattro finora, non ero mai rimasta soddisfatta dalle fotografie. Unghie troppo corte prima (e avevo pure -"perso la mano" su come fare swatch), luce scarsa dopo...

Insomma queste (grazie ad una bella domenica di sole) sono le prime che mi piacciono: le altre dovrò rifarle, per fortuna gli smalti scuri come questi fanno comodo anche come base per layering o nail art e non mi peserà riprovarli!

Il fortunato è il n. 002 Melanzana Aubergine: dopo la prima passata si distingue ancora il colore di base (una specie di borgogna scurissimo), di intensità variabile a seconda di quanto carica è la pennellata (v. foto). Dopo la seconda passata il colore diventa quasi nero e lo smalto resta stupendamente lucido, per le foto non ho applicato top coat e spero rendano l'idea, la superficie era veramente "riflettente".

L'applicazione è ottima, lo smalto pur essendo fluido da applicare non è acquoso. L'unica cosa che ho notato su di me è una tendenza a consumarsi abbastanza velocemente sulle punta (ma è una cosa che mi capita con tanti smalti, soprattutto laccati).

Given that this is the first "long" post about these polishes, I'll add a couple technical details: the round cap is actually a cover: the real cap is smaller, less pretty, but much more practical to handle.

The brush is not very wide, but quite thick.

Visto che è il primo post "lungo" su uno dei questi smalti, aggiungo qualche dettaglio tecnico: la boccetta ha un "copritappo" removibile, sotto il quale si trova il tappo vero, meno decorativo ma più pratico da impugnare durante l'applicazione. Il pennello non è larghissimo, ma comunque abbastanza corposo.

Kiko Shades of Black Nail Lacquer [skittle]

Hi! First real/nail related post of 2018 (and also the first one after a long absence)...Anyway I feel like I'm kind of "resuming" something I suspended last September, as one of my latest posts was about a new LE from Kiko, the Holographic Nail Lacquer collection, and there was also another collection I was interested in, the one with the "almost black" polishes, but that time I did't manage to try them.

Primo post vero/smaltoso del 2018 e dopo un lungo periodo di assenza...Mi piace pensare che oggi si riprenda in qualche modo il discorso interrotto a settembre: uno dei miei ultimi post infatti riguardava gli smalti di una edizione limitata Kiko appena uscita, quella degli olografici Holographic Nail Lacquer; c'era anche un'altra collezione di smalti che mi ispirava molto, quella degli scurissimi, ma al tempo non ero riuscita a provarli.

Ai saldi di gennaio (si vede che era destino) mi sono procurata i primi due (03-04) e poi, grazie a un'interessante promozione "2+2" proprio sulle LE, a fine febbraio sono entrati nella mia collezione anche i restanti quattro.

Two coats for this skittle: the brush is quite wide, but application is really easy (these polishes have a perfect formula).

No top coat needed, Shades of Black lacquers are already super glossy; I have to say (being a sucker for almost-black nail polishes) I really fell in love with them.

Qui li vedete con due passate ognuno, il pennello è abbastanza largo, ma l'applicazione è comunque facile: lo smalto ha una consistenza perfetta secondo me.

Niente top coat per queste foto, gli smalti sono super super lucidi già da soli; io che sono appassionata di smalti scuri me ne sono innamorata all'istante.

I've been missing for quite a long time, but today I really wanted to peek out; last months have been quite hard on me and my family, so nails and blogging were really my least concern. Let's just say I'm glad to say goodbye to 2017.

Anyway I'm here to wish you all a wonderful 2018, full of joy, love, luck and whatever you want!!

E' da tanto che non scrivo, ma oggi volevo fare capolino sul blog; negli ultimi mesi non ho avuto proprio voglia di pensare a unghie e swatch, è stato davvero un brutto periodo per me e la mia famiglia...Diciamo che mi lascio volentieri il 2017 alle spalle.

Comunque ci tenevo a postare almeno oggi, per chi ancora passa qui ogni tanto: auguro a tutte/i un 2018 stupendo, pieno di cose belle, risate felici, abbracci affettuosi e qualsiasi altra cosa desideriate!

Swatch: Essence TE Dark Romance - 04 Gothic Gold

Back to the past (2014) today, with a polish from Essence Dark Romance Trend Edition (don't worry if you don't remember it, neither did I...Here is my press release post). This is the textured one, Gothic Gold; I bought it because at that time I didn't have any golden textured polishes in my stash, but it wasn't love at first swatch.

As usual I applied two coats (last picture) and the result was so coarse and heavy, not a nice thing to see.

The next day I tried again, applying just one coat, and I got a better result (and as you can notice on my pointer finger, thinner the layer, less rough the surface).

Even so I still wasn't satisfied with my manicure, I think this polish looked much better with some stamping on it (check the IG picture at the bottom of the post)!

Oggi facciamo un salto (bello lungo) nel passato con uno smalto Essence della LE Dark Romance (si parla di gennaio 2014, qui il post-cartella stampa); si tratta del Gothic Gold, lo smalto textured della collezione.

L'avevo comprato perché essenzialmente mi mancava un materico color oro, ma il primo impatto non è stato proprio piacevole: per abitudine ho dato due passate e il risultato è stato un pastone cementoso decisamente poco bello da vedere (ultima foto con boccetta).

Ho riprovato il giorno dopo, con una sola passata e l'effetto è stato migliore: comunque la superficie è rimasta molto granulosa e ruvida al tatto (sull'indice, con strato più sottile, sono rimaste meno asperità).

Da solo comunque non mi piaceva molto, in un'altra occasione l'avevo usato come base per uno stamping e il risultato mi era piaciuto un sacco (in fondo la foto da Instagram)!

Summer seems to have gone for good (and that makes me quite sad), but I'm trying to stick to bright and happy colors, at least with this wheel.

I'll try to complete the missing posts as soon as possibile, some polishes have already been swatched (ages ago :-P).

Kiko Holographic Nail Lacquer [skittle]

Introduction

Last week, looking for a nail polish name on Kiko website (I'm updating my Excel nail polish file), I found out there were three new LE collections; two of them looked quite interesting to me, so I decided to visit a store as soon as possibile. Friday afternoon, for a happy coincidence, it was sunny and I had a free hour, so I ~~went~~ rushed to Kiko to check the new polishes: of course I picked the holos first!

Premessa

La scorsa settimana, cercando sul sito Kiko il nome di uno smalto (sto sistemando il file excel che uso per registrare gli smalti) ho trovato degli smalti mai visti: tre edizioni limitate "tematiche" interessanti (o almeno due su tre lo sono, per me). Dopo aver curiosato tra le cartelle colori, mi sono ripromessa di andare in negozio quanto prima; un paio di giorni dopo è arrivata anche la mail di lancio ufficiale e su Instagram e Facebook sono apparse le prime boccette.

Venerdì pomeriggio, approfittando della combo due ore libere/sole, sono riuscita a passare da Kiko e spennellarmi un po' le unghie. Le collezioni sono tre, ma la priorità l'ho data ovviamente a quella olografica!

The collection

The shades are quite traditional, I swatched them as best as I could, my right/Cinderella hand nails are not in good shape. Two coats each, application was very good (considering that I applied them standing up, on my suspending hand):

01 Silver: probably my favorite: a very light grey, with a beautiful "rainbow" holo;

02 Golden Champagne: a golden holo, with a quite subtle effect, I think the sparkles get "lost" in all the gold;

03 Blush Rose: the holo effect is visible mostly at certain angles (similar to Golden Champagne), and looks more scattered;

04 Golden Lavender: a beautiful (but not unique) purple, with a more visible linear effect;

05 Starry Blue: a nice teal, here the effect is a little bit different, as it's definitely green instead of multicolor;

06 Graphite: this one was a little less opaque, as after two coats there was still some visible nail line; dark grey, with a nice multicolor holo effect.

Conclusion: definitely not ultra holos, but there might be a couple interesting shades (especially if you don't already own a lot of holographic polishes).

La collezione

I colori sono abbastanza classici, li ho provati come potevo, la mia mano destra è messa abbastanza male. Due passate su ogni unghia, stesura molto buona (considerando che li ho applicati in negozio con la mano sospesa in aria):

01 Argento: uno di quelli che mi è piaciuto di più: praticamente è un grigio molto chiaro, con un bell'effetto holo "arcobalenoso";

02 Champagne dorato: color oro, con un riflesso multicolor che un po' si perde, sotto il sole;

03 Rosa cipria: un rosa antico con effetto olografico che si nota soprattutto a certe angolazioni (come il dorato); l'effetto complessivo è più scattered;

04 Lavanda dorato: un bel viola classico, abbastanza freddo, con la "fiammata" tipica holo;

05 Blu stellato: un ottanio/teal che a me è piaciuto molto, pur non essendo originalissimo; qui il riflesso olografico tende più al verde che all'arcobaleno;

06 Grafite: un grigio scuro con holo multicolore; un po' meno coprente degli altri, dopo due passate si intravede la linea dell'unghia.

In conclusione, niente olografici "spaccaretina", ma qualche colore interessante (poi dipende da quanti holo avete già nel cassetto :-)).

EDIT 13/09/2017 - aggiungo il prezzo di listino: 4,95€ per 10ml

Getting back to Silver: before adding it to my wishlist I tried to check if I already had something similar...Here is a quick comparison with Hits no Olimpo Artemis (for this one I hired a new photographer: my son): they look quite similar, and the Kiko does just fine also concerning holographic effect.

Tornando all'Argento: prima di metterlo in wishlist ho provato a controllare se avevo già qualcosa di simile... Ed ecco qui una veloce comparazione con Hits no Olimpo Artemis (foto -altrimenti impossibile- scattata da mio figlio): si assomigliano parecchio e il Kiko, anche come effetto holo, secondo me se la cava alla grande.

Swatch: Kiko 492 Rosso Perlato - Pearly Red + comparison

I'm quite determined to complete my 2010 swatching project, but don't worry: I will post also more recent polishes, as this Kiko that I bought a couple of months ago.

Unfortunately it is part of their "nail lacquer" line (the basic one, with square bottles), that is likely to be dismissed. All the shades have been on sale since last Spring (1€ for a 11 ml bottle) and I suggest keeping an eye on the sale shelves, because (at least here in Italy) the selection of colors changes from time to time, also according to each store stock, and some shades are really worth having!

Today I'm showing you #492 Pearly Red: it must be said that a Kiko "pearly" nail lacquer has not necessarily a pearly finish, often there are microglitters or tiny flakes involved *yay* ;-).

In fact this one has a light red base, filled with red, golden and pink microflakes.

Application is easy and even (see first coat picture); the nail polish is opaque in two coats and the surface remains smooth. After the second coat there is still a slightly visible nail line, but I didn't find it annoying.

Va bene il progetto 2010...Però ogni tanto bisogna postare anche qualcosa di più recente ;-)

Purtroppo quello di oggi, pur essendo un acquisto di un paio di mesi fa, è uno smalto che sta andando in pensione: si tratta di un Kiko della serie "boccetta squadrata" (i nail lacquer - la linea base fino a poco tempo fa). Questi smalti si trovano in offerta a un euro nei vari negozi (che assortiscono in base alla disponibilità e spesso cambiano i colori esposti), per 11 ml di ottimo prodotto è veramente un affare (certi colori sono veramente stupendi).

Oggi vi mostro il n. 492 Rosso Perlato: per fortuna nel tempo abbiamo imparato a tradurre il Kik-ese e sappiamo che perlato di solito corrisponde a microflakes o comunque non al perlato da "signora" che non piace a tutti (a me no, ad esempio).

In questo caso infatti abbiamo una base rosso chiaro piena di shimmerini/microparticelle rosso-dorate-rosa.

La coprenza è uniforme (v. foto prima passata) e lo smalto è facile da applicare; dopo due passate si intravede la linea dell'unghia, ma nel complesso non l'ho trovata fastidiosa. Anche se lo smalto è pieno di queste microscagliette la superficie "finale" è liscia.

When applying it on my "red wheel" I noticed it looked quite similar to Orly Emberstone, so here is a quick comparison:

They are similar, but Emberstone has a different "blend" of particles, there are much more pink ones, so that the overall shade is different: here below direct sunlight and indoors pictures.

Quando l'ho messo sulla ruota dei rossi ho notato un certa somiglianza con Orly Emberstone, così taaac ecco qua una comparazione veloce (due passate):

Sono simili, ma Emberstone ha una composizione di particelle differente, oltre alle dorate ce ne sono parecchie rosa, che nel complesso gli danno una tonalità diversa; qui sotto due foto sole/luce indiretta.

Swatch: OPI Over the Taupe

Here is another polish I bought in 2010...This one was not a random Ebay purchase, I chose it purposely on Transdesign (haul post), probably because at that time it was quite famous.

It's OPI Over the Taupe, a polish released in 2009 (Brights collection) and still part of their "classic"shades.

The polish is quite watery, actually I was afraid it was because of its age, but reading back my old comparison posts (here is a taupe one) I realized that the formula has always been that runny.

I took a picture after the second coat and it was really unpresentable (see picture), but after the third one there were no more discolored patches. The shade became more intense, and besides, the surface was really glossy (no top coat for these swatches), I really liked it!

Ecco qui un altro smalto comprato nel 2010...Questo è stato un acquisto un po' più mirato (da Transdesign, qui il post haul), probabilmente ne avevo sentito parlare da qualche parte ai tempi. Si tratta di OPI Over the Taupe, un classico OPI ormai (infatti è uscito nel 2009 con la collezione Brights, ma è tuttora presente nella loro cartella colori).

Il taupe del nome è un termine vago che si può usare per definire un'ampia gamma di marrone-grigio o grigio caldo, si potrebbe tradurre come "talpa" (non altrettanto bello da pronunciare).

Qualche anno fa andava veramente tantissimo (o almeno, io di smalti simili ne ho comprati un tot).

Lo smalto si è rivelato abbastanza acquoso, mi era venuto il dubbio che fosse per via dell'età, ma rileggendo i vecchi post ho visto che era così già nel 2011, ai tempi delle prime comparazioni (tipo questa).

Ho scattato una foto dopo due passate, ma non era proprio presentabile: su unghie anche non lunghissime ne servono sicuramente tre.

Va detto che dopo la terza passata il colore si intensifica e diventa davvero bello e super lucido (niente top coat per questi swatch).

Swatch: OPI Charmed by a Snake

I got so rusty at blogging!! I've been trying to work on a post for a while, usually in the evening, but every time (while I was thinking about what to post) I ended up loafing around on internet until past midnight.

Eventually I made it, but I had to force myself to shut down my mail, Instagram, Facebook and everything that might distract me :-P.

I'm restarting with a new swatch, of an old polish. I've been thinking about this little "project" for a while: swatching all the polishes I bought during my first nailblogging year (2010).

It's a mix of polishes I bought from the US (quite randomly) and first drugstore findings; during that year I managed to swatch almost all of them, but there are still a few left, and I really wanted to show them here (and remove the bottles from the untried box).

Today I'm showing you an OPI from India collection (Spring 2008); I bought it from Ebay in a sort of "assembled set", without caring about the shades (I just wanted to try some OPIs).

All in all the shades were quite ok (but the famous Yoga-ta Get This Blue wasn't included), here is the group shot (first posts...I find them so tender ^_^).

I picked a non-exciting one (to me), Charmed by a Snake : it's a light brown/caramel with a lot of pretty golden shimmer.

The polish has a weird formula, liquid/almost "oily" (I noticed that other old OPIs are quite runny), for this swatch I had to apply three coats and still had some issues, as the polish didn't spread evenly (check tip of my middle finger ).

Here below there are some pictures, I think it looks better indoors.

Com'è difficile riprendere a lavorare sul blog! Ho perso decisamente la mano...Per un bel po' di sere consecutive mi sono seduta al pc, ma avendo mille foto da editare e non riuscendo a decidere, alla fine mi son trovata a navigare in giro (puro ca§§eggio) fino a dopo mezzanotte, quando era ora di andare a dormire.

La mattina ovviamente mi alzavo piena di buoni propositi: "stasera preparo un post...".

Alla fine ce l'ho fatta (ma ho dovuto impormi di chiudere, Facebook, Instagram e tutto quello che mi distrae di solito)!

Riparto con uno swatch nuovo, ma di uno smalto vecchio.
Da tempo (per non dire anni) avevo in mente quest'idea: swatchare prioritariamente gli smalti del primo periodo blog (parliamo del 2010), un mix di acquisti on line incauti (o meglio fatti un po' alla cavolo - peccato perché ai tempi dall'America arrivava di tutto -_-) e prime scoperte low cost (tipo Essence). Non ne ho più tantissimi negli untried, perché comunque ai tempi il rapporto acquistati-swatchati era ancora gestibile, ma ci terrei a farli vedere qui sul blog (e toglierli finalmente dalla scatola degli untried).

Tornando allo smalto, quello di oggi è un OPI della collezione India (primavera 2008); avevo acquistato un "set assemblato" di sei boccette su Ebay, senza neanche fare caso ai colori (volevo provare degli OPI e basta).

Tutto sommato nel mucchio non mi è neanche andata troppo male (ma il famoso blu Yoga-ta Get This Blue ovviamente non era della partita), qui la foto di gruppo (che tenerezza i miei primi post ^_^).

Ho deciso di affrontare Charmed by a Snake perché è uno di quelli che mi ispirava meno, devo dire che anche sulle unghie si è confermato come un colore non da me.

E' un marrone chiaro/caramello con un sacco di shimmer dorati (carini loro, ma non bastano). La consistenza dello smalto è strana, come oleoso/liquida (anche altri OPI di quel periodo avevano la stessa caratteristica); alla fine ho dovuto applicare tre passate e comunque sul medio lo smalto si è comunque distribuito in maniera non uniforme e come "ritirato" sulla punta.
Qui sotto ci sono un po' di foto, secondo me rende di più in interni...

Swatch: Color Club Cloud Nine

I haven't been posting for quite a long time :-(, due to lack of time and lately also space: we're redecorating a part of our house and I had to move all my things (including my nail polish desk) to the other rooms. In other words here is a mess, with stuff piled everywhere and no room for me to set my pc and monitor, luckily we're almost done!

Anyway I really wanted to post something today, because it's a special day...

It's my birthday!! I'm turning 42 and well, this kind of "forty-something" number almost doesn't scare me anymore. Moreover I've had a great day today, met my friends in the morning and went out with my family in the afternoon/evening <3

To end with a bang, I'll show you an amazing polish that I swatched some time ago: Cloud Nine from Color Club. It's a stunning light pink (cool toned) holo from Halo Hues collection (first series, released in 2012).

Two coats for these swatches (it requires just a little care during application), as you can see the holo effect is really mesmerizing!

E' passato tantissimo tempo dall'ultimo post...Tra impegni e casini vari (inclusa la casa mezza smantellata causa lavori, per fortuna son quasi finiti) non sono proprio riuscita a lavorare sul blog, ma oggi è un giorno speciale e ci tenevo proprio a pubblicare qualcosa.

Dicevo giorno speciale, infatti è il mio compleanno (sono 42 0_0, ma ormai il 4 davanti non mi fa -quasi- più neanche impressione): ho passato una gran bella giornata, la mattina con le mie amiche, che non vedevo da tempo, e pomeriggio/sera a festeggiare con la mia famiglia. Per finire in bellezza ecco il post: approfitto di uno swatch di qualche tempo fa per mostrarvi lo splendido olografico Cloud Nine di Color Club.

Appartiene alla prima serie Halo Hues (quella del 2012) ed è un rosa chiaro dalla tonalità fredda.

Coprente in due passate (applicate con un minimo di attenzione), come vedete dalle foto l'effetto holo è pazzesco (qui sotto il sole, ma fa la sua figura anche con luce artificiale).

Veramente spaziale!!

Swatch: Zoya Dream

I've been super lazy lately (blog-wise), although I'm spending a lot of time on my nails, changing my nail polish quite often and always adding some -more or less successful- stamping to my manicure.

Hoping that my laptop won't row against me (I've got some slow-connection issues lately), I'll try to get back on track with a beautiful polish: Zoya Dream.

Dream belongs to Zenith collection (Winter/Holiday 2013) and it's a gorgeous deep blue (according to Zoya website it's a "deep space blue") with holo flakes.

It's slightly jelly, so I applied three coats for these swatches; anyway you can see that it was nice also after the second one (comparison picture), nail line was just a little bit more visible.

I'm really happy I bought it, and I hope you like it too!

Accidenti, ultimamente ho proprio battuto la blog-fiacca!!!

Mi sono comunque occupata di unghie e affini: ho praticamente cambiato smalto ogni tre giorni, aggiungendo sempre qualche esperimento di stamping (non sempre riuscito :-P).

Provo a riprendere il ritmo (sperando che il mio computer sia rinsavito, ultimamente sta facendo i capricci e si è messo in modalità lumaca), mostrandovi uno smalto bellissimo: Zoya Dream.

Appartiene alla collezione Zenith del 2013 ed è un bellissimo blu intenso con una leggera tendenza al jelly, pieno di particelle/flakes olografici.

Gli swatch che vedete qui sono stati fatti dopo tre passate, ma nella foto comparativa vedete anche il risultato dopo le prime due (comunque uniforme, solo con la linea dell'unghia un po' più visibile).

Bellissimo, vero?

Swatch: Kiko 517 Blu Acciaio Metallico - Metallic Steel Blue

Kiko is discontinuing their standard "nail lacquer" polishes, I'm so sad about it, I loved these polishes and bought so many of them (my reviews index proves it!).

Today I'm showing you n. 517 (kindly lent me by my friend Irene), a nice navy blue-grey with a metallic finish. This polish is highly pigmented, perfect in two coats and also quite glossy; being a metallic there's the "visible brush strokes" issue, but it might be solved with a "double top coat" trick ;-) (check at the bottom of the post).

Da Kiko stanno dismettendo gli smalti della collezione storica "nail lacquer", ormai non sono più neanche negli espositori a parete, ma in mezzo ai prodotti in saldo. Mi dispiace tantissimo, adoravo questa linea e in questi anni ne ho comprati veramente tantissimi (il mio indice recensioni lo testimonia)!

Oggi vi mostro il n. 517 (prestato gentilmente dalla mia amica Irene...tanto tempo fa), un bel azzurro grigio. Lo smalto è ben pigmentato, perfetto in due passate e resta anche abbastanza lucido; essendo uno smalto metallizzato (Kiko li chiama "metallico") ha il problemino dei segni delle pennellate che restano visibili (leggete più sotto per una possibile soluzione).

I used this nail polish for my mat/satin Essence tc comparison (post here), after taking those pictures I did another layering, adding to my nails (except ring finger) a coat of glossy top coat. This "double top coating" is quite interesting on metallic nail polishes: as you can see the surface becomes more shimmery and the brush strokes almost disappear.

Avevo usato questo smalto anche per la comparazione dei top coat satinati Essence (post qui), qui sotto -su tutte le dita tranne l'anulare- vi mostro il risultato di un' ulteriore sovrapposizione, simpatica da fare sugli smalti metallizzati: dopo il top coat satinato si applica una passata di top coat lucido normale e lo smalto diventa più simile ad uno shimmer, senza praticamente segni delle pennellate.

Swatch: Essence Colour&Go 195 You wow'd me again

Last Tuesday (national holiday here in Italy) I finally had some blog time, and sorting through my pictures I found this gem from (unfortunately) discontinued Essence Colour&Go line.

I don't know why I didn't post it at that time, maybe because I took a ton of pictures (well, it's a multichrome ^_^) and I knew that sorting/editing them would have taken me forever! Anyway thanks to a rainy afternoon...Here is Essence n. 195 You wow'd me again.

I bought it as soon as I saw it in the Essence display (it was a "new" product in September 2014), even if I already had all Colour&Go duochromes in my stash...And I'm glad I did it: it's a beautiful multichrome, that switches from violet to lavender-blue-grey and light green.

Opaque in two coats, unfortunately brush strokes remain visibile (right now I would try to minimize them with the mat + glossy top coat trick); nevertheless it's a wonderful polish, quite unique IMO (it reminds me a little bit of Nubar Indigo Illusion), watching these pics I fell in love with it again.

Martedì finalmente ho avuto un po' di tempo libero e, scartabellando tra le vecchie foto, ho trovato questo gioiellino Essence (della vecchia linea Colour&Go). Non so perché ai tempi non lo avessi postato, probabilmente perché -trattandosi di un multichrome- avevo scattato un miliardo di foto e mi intimoriva il lavoro di scelta/editing.

Grazie ad una giornata festiva e piovosa...Eccolo qua, è il n. 195 You wow'd me again.

Ai tempi (due anni e mezzo fa!) non avevo potuto fare a meno di comprarlo, appena trovato nell'espositore, anche se avevo già praticamente tutti i duochrome delle varie collezioni Colour&Go.

Non me ne sono pentita: è uno smalto con un bellissimo cambio di colore: passa da viola a verde chiaro (che poi diventa un verde intenso) attraverso l'azzurro, con le sfumature intermedie di lavanda e pervinca grigiastro.

Coprente in due passate, purtroppo si vedono i segni del pennello (se lo mettessi ora proverei a minimizzarli con il doppio passaggio tc mat-tc lucido).

Comunque molto, molto bello...E credo abbastanza unico nel suo genere (mi ricorda un po' il più famoso Nubar Indigo Illusion), riguardando le foto me ne sono innamorata di nuovo.

The other day I stopped by Kiko and found -among other new products- also a capsule collection with some polishes: Tropic Heat. Despite the lenght of my nails (still not "fit for swatching") I absolutely had to try them on. Below the official info about the collection (from Kiko Uk website):

Una decina di giorni fa sono passata (un po' di corsa) da Kiko e ho trovato -tra le varie novità, da Kiko si festeggiano i 20 anni del marchio- anche una "capsule collection" con degli smalti. Nonostante le unghie ancora lontane dal mio obiettivo "swatch" non ho potuto fare a meno di provarli: sono i tre colori della collezione Tropic Heat. Qui le info ufficiali (dal sito Kiko Cosmetics):

My first impression: the polishes are quite creamy, 02 and 03 provide very good coverage (one coaters) whereas 01 needed two coats. The brush is quite wide; I liked it, but maybe it's not perfect for those with tiny nails.

I have to point out that I tried the polishes on my bare nails: when I went to Kiko I already had nail polish on, but I removed it to try these ones, so without base coat all my nail ridges are very visible -_-.

Last but not least, the polishes are quite glossy...My favorite is definitely the cyclamen purple (03)!

These polishes should be scented too, I actually smelled something fruity (but I couldn't match the aroma with the fruit icons on the display - or the polish names), unfortunately when I came home I did a quick cleanup...with a scented polish remover, so farewell to any special fragrance effects.

Dettaglio sugli smalti:

Mie impressioni: il pennello è largo, forse non l'ideale per chi ha unghie piccoline, gli smalti sono mediamente cremosi, diciamo che 02 e 03 hanno una coprenza molto buona (basterebbe una passata), mentre il primo ha bisogno di due mani e ancora non è perfetto.
Devo precisare che comunque li ho provati sulle unghie nude (senza neanche la base, praticamente mi sono tolta lo smalto che avevo proprio in negozio per provarli, ero curiosissima), quindi era inevitabile che le imperfezioni fossero visibili.
Restano belli lucidi anche da asciutti, il mio preferito è decisamente il 03, un viola ciclamino splendido.

Dovrebbero essere anche profumati, io qualcosinadi "fruttato" ho sentito, ma poi facendo il cleanup (a casa) con un acetone profumato ho coperto tutto -_- (geniale). Non mi torna molto la descrizione degli "aromi" del sito con il nome dello smalto e neanche con le sagomine di frutta presenti sull'espositore, se non ricordo male sembravano più una pesca, un'albicocca e qualcosa di scuro che potrebbe essere stato un mirtillo o una noce di cocco.
