OWLFACE!

One of the last days of summer. Me, I’m a huge fan of fall, so I don’t mind at all. I can’t wait to photograph rain and yellow leaves and streetlights with halos around them. But then again, I was an October kid, so I guess it’s expected ;)

She didn’t listen.

No, I found myself on top of Fløyen, one of the seven mountains surrounding Bergen, and there was no reason to complain at all. Look at that view! It was my frist trip up there, which is embarassing to say the least seeing as I’ve lived here for more than 6 years, but it won’t be the last.

2. Dresses.

I don’t know how many years I’ve owned this one, but I never grow tired of it.

3. IsaDora Graffiti nail polish.

I know there were crackle nail polishes around for a short while in the late ’90s (Early ’00s?), so this was a fun trip down memory lane for me. I know there are girls out there who are hoarding this limited edition polish in every color, but I think I’ll stick to this one bottle. I’m doing the whole “sensible shopper” thing after all, and besides, I thing this might be one of those products that’s a fun revisit but not really a lasting thing. One bottle of #802 “White Art” (here shown with OPI’s “Black Onyx” underneath) is enough for me :)

Oh how I love it, it all it’s retro, swing-skirt glory. The fabric is thick and heavy, and the bodice has steel boning in it. I’ve been eying it for a few weeks, but the price tag was a bit steep for me, so I didn’t think it was within reach at all. Then all of a sudden it’s 30% off, but still a bit much for my liking. Fast forward to Sunday, when I was on the phone with my mom, and somehow I started talking about this dress. Turns out, she had been wondering for a while what to get me for my birthday, so when she heard about Miss Dress here, she told me to buy at and that it would be an early birthday present from my family. How lucky can a girl get?

I feel like I should wear it every day now, instead of leaving it in my closet until mid-October. I’m pretty sure it will be worth the wait, though :)

The rules

1. No new clothes, shoes or accessories can be bought until Christmas.

2. Re-stocking, however, is allowed, but this only applies to wardrobe basics. If I shrink my favorite white tee I can replace it, or if I rip a hole in my black tights I can get new ones.

3. When I go to visit Maria in Oslo, that weekend will count as a black hole and all rules will perish for that one weekend. Let’s not kid ourselves.

4. I’m allowed to buy an awesome dress for Maren‘s wedding/My 25th birthday (same day!), a Fjällräven jacket, and a Cambridge Satchel Company bag. The first one I don’t have to explain, I really need a warm, water-proof jacket for cold and crappy weather, and I’ve been dreaming of a CSC bag since I first saw one months ago.

And that’s it. Let’s not complicate it with more rules, non? I want to reprogram the way my brain thinks about clothes, and let’s be honest here – I’ve got a whole bunch of stuff that I’ve only worn once or twice, and that’s a bit embarrassing. Also, I gave away a suitcase full of things the other week – we’re talking 20 kilos worth of clothes, shoes and accessories, straight to the salvation army. It felt so good. Plus I want to save money, and clothes shopping is my biggest money drain. I think I might have found the perfect solution.

I didn’t die, my holiday ended and I was tired and sleepy every day after work, so I took a little break. It was good, you should try it!

Except that would be boring for me, because then I’d have nothing to read, so scratch that. Forget I said it.

Things I’ve done this week:

1. Worked.

2. Watched Salt. Didn’t suck, didn’t blow me away.

3. Not shopped. Pat on the back.

4. Worked out.

17. Watching a movie and eating chocolate instead of working out.

21. Manicures.

22. Indian food.

23. Giving surprise presents.

24. Leaving the movie theater in complete silence, because none of you know quite how to describe how great the movie was.

26. Telling him every day that I want to be with him forever.

27. Receiving fun packages in the mail.

Our attempt to butch the place up a bit – Reservoir Dogs poster +  frame (Ikea). If I had my pick of Tarantino posters, I’d go with GoGo Yubari from Kill Bill, but I already have a chandelier, so it was Marius’ time to pick, obviously.

Bonsai tree for Marius, because he’s wanted one for ages. We’ve yet to name him, but Marius says not to grow too attached as it will surely die within weeks. He’s such an optimist ;)

And last but not least – tea light holders that look cracked and sort of like they’re about to fall apart. I love them, we saw a pair just like them on a restaurant last week and I wanted them right away. These are from Indiska.

In other news, I bought a bag full of underwear (T.M.I?) and threw out everything I already owned that I’d hate to be caught wearing. It’s a great little test.

1: Pick up a piece of underwear.

2: Think – If my next door neighbor/colleague/random acquaintance saw me in the gym changing rooms wearing this, would I be horrified? If yes, throw away.

I’m happy to say, my drawer is now full of things that I would not be horrified if caught wearing.

Also, I’ve given myself a shopping ban. Again. It had to happen. Don’t look at me like that.
