On one hand advertisers may feel that image adverts are more responsive yet less likely to stimulate a sale. On the other hand text adverts may convert more, whilst being less visible to the consumer.

Text based adverts are considered the least intrusive of the two formats. However does that mean that Graphic advertising is better? Consumers are used to graphic advertising from signing into free email accounts, and from using other web based services. Through being used to graphic advertising they have almost programmed their selves to ignore it. Through the adverts being untargeted, the consumer is used to brand advertising which they feel is generally less purposeful. This may cause the consumer to ignore the graphic advert from the assumption that it will be the same.

This could mean that a wider array of advertisers find text advertising accessible, through text adverts being less burden on the advertiser, and being easy to change.

Text adverts are also cheaper for the advertiser to create, where as a graphically designed advert may cost in excess of $200. Through removing this fixed cost advertisers may be willing to allot a higher rate to advertising itself; thus benefiting the advertiser and the publisher.

Text advertising appears to be the preference of the advertiser. They pay a CTR (click through rate) and only receive targeted traffic. This removes risks from businesses that previously had to worry that adverts were not only seen, but clicked on and stimulating sales. As CPC (Cost Per Click) is more relevant to text adverts, advertisers are able to gain exposure without needing a high click through rate to be effective.

The big brands are willing to advertise in both formats however the broad market appeal of text inevitably makes it the winner. As flash websites disappear with image adverts, it is becoming clear that text and information is the preference of the website users.

You’d enter a site, and in some location you’d get to see a banner (often these were quite numerous and very large), which would present and ad for whatever company was paying for adds on your space.

But there was one problem with this kind of advertising. It really wasn’t exploiting the fact that the adds weren’t in some newspaper, but were instead presented over the Internet.

You’ve probably noticed a lot of things like this over the pages you’ve browsed. You’re looking at an on-line shop, looking for a watch but you get a banner that advertises a car.

While you might, at some later point want to buy a car, right now you’re looking for a watch and it would have surely been nice if the banner were advertising a watch, because then you would have probably clicked it.

Well that’s also what the folks at Google thought of, so they came up with a killer idea. This is knows as Google AdSense, and it’s known as a targeted advertising program

What you do (as a web designer / website owner) is, instead of jumping through hoops to get some banner on your site that your visitors won’t even care about, is you just allocate some region of the screen.

You then sign up for the Google AdSense program, you insert a small snippet of code in your webpage and Google ensures that in the location you specify, a banner will appear, presenting adds relevant to the contents of your site.

It’s very easy for Google to do this because Google is a search engine company. It looks for the key words in your page, searches a database of websites to find the ones related to whatever is on your page and presto: a targeted ad.

You (the webmaster) get a fee for each visitor that clicks on an adsense banner on your site. Now that’s bound to happen more often then with a traditional banner because people are actually interested in what’s in that banner (otherwise, they wouldn’t be on your page would they?).

The choice can largely come down to the commercial goals and the purpose of your website. Many businesses who sell products decide to place Adsense adverts within their website. This would appear to be a strange choice, opening up opportunities for rivals to promote their service or product to your potential customer base.

Many publishers claim that they are only doing this to allow companies who provide ancillary services to advertise. These claims have some merit, as those who for example sell pillows could provide those who sell bedding with an opportunity to advertise.

Although this would make sense, there are still those online retailers who allow rivals to penetrate their audience. Many claim that there are still benefits in allowing your direct competitors to advertise within your website. One of these is that ultimately if visitors wish to see your competitors they would be able to see them through a Google search regardless. This may be true however the thought of an established brand like coco-cola having a Pepsi advert in their website is not even a possibility.

Another factor which is considered in this situation is that publishers do not feel that Adsense is effective in making conversions. They feel that visitors who would click on adverts are not highly qualified customers, as they would quickly navigate to the materials or products that interest them if they were.

Despite Adsense being a questionable choice for online retailers, it is surely a good supplementary service for other varieties of online publishers. For example, a website which provides a free service like dictionary.com gets high levels of traffic, and is able to make their service profitable through adsense. This has been the case for Bloggers who originally provided content free of charge, being unable to reach the scale that is necessary to contract with advertisers directly.

This could also apply to other previously free services, including wider forms of information broadcast, and news for example. There are many ways to turn traffic into AdSense traffic and here is a short list of them with a description for each.

The first thing that you need to do is tune up your site’s contents. While for some people this isn’t an option (if you’re running a forum for example it’s a lot harder) most people can make their AdSense sites veritable cash cows.

To begin, you should find out what your site’s keywords are. This is a basic technique in SEO (search engine optimization) known as keyword density verification. A good tool for this job is SEO Density Analizer.

You should then take this list of words and search the Overture Search Inventory or Google AdWords Sandbox to find out what other words could be doing better then what you currently have.

From that point on try to keep your site focused on the things that appear mostly in the keyword suggestions you receive. Try to include those keywords, or at least some related keywords as often as you can in the links on your site.

Of course, if you can afford such a solution, one of the best ways of getting your hands on those words would be to pay for them. There are specialized companies that do business by finding people good keywords, not only for the purpose of more AdSense revenue but for search engine optimization as well.

You could always have some other banner on your site, or even use some search of affiliate ad program and that would probably make you some money, given of course that your site enjoys a healthy amount of visitors. However with affiliate marketing, it is expected that the visitor from your website completes a sale before you are remunerated.

We engage in uncountable ways like rigorous search engine optimization, painstaking article writing and article marketing, numerous guest posting, countless blog commenting, several social bookmarking, unrelenting social networking, persevering forum posting, timeless traffic exchanges, paid backlinking and link exchanges and so much more!

But what do we do when we begin to get the result for our persistency and consistency, enduring this arduous routine we apply for the bloggers welfare program and after the code we drive our readers away through the welfare programme for bloggers, we end making like 25 cents for all this efforts and hard work…that isn’t business like at all.

The sad thing is that most of us are only dependent on this welfare program and we tell our folks that we are engaged in a make money online opportunity, no wonder many bloggers are frustrated and we have so many dead blogs around just occupying the webspace.

First of all you can create a forum on just about anything you can think of, from knitting advice to gardening, to how to build rockets. If it exists on the internet then there will be a forum for it.

That said you can break into a market with a new one, but make no mistake it is not an easy task. For a start in the early days there is dealing with the spam, and trust me the auto-bots out there will throw spam at an un-guarded site like it is going out of fashion. So before even settling on a platform to build one on, do some research about which ones offer the best anti-spam modules to add as plug-ins.

If you set up the anti-spam the right way at the start then your life will be a whole lot easier when it comes to moderating your forum. Get it wrong and you will spend every morning and evening moderating your board.

Now you may pick out your forum software, and if you are competent you may install it yourself, but it involves setting up a database and you may often find that a professional installer can get it done for you in a fraction of the time. Often it is worth paying someone to do this task.

You then have to set up your message board, select the theme (Colours etc) that you want it to look like. Now you may have spent some considerable time doing these things and think it looks great on screen and that people will come flocking along to sign up – wrong! Now you have only done around five percent of the work towards getting your forum running successfully.

The hardest work is yet to come, as your forum is empty and so nobody will sign up to it, so you will need to begin to sign up under multiple names and post a lot to make it look like it is an active forum before people come across it in the search engines and start signing up and posting. You may want consider forum boosting or recruiting the help of a few friends with to get the ball rolling, or offer a prize for the post of the month to incentivise people to join. The hard work is not in building the forum itself, it is in building the membership!

There are a few choices of PPCs. My favorites are Google AdSense and Chitika, and I hope to experiment with the Yahoo! Publisher Network soon, currently in beta. It’s easy to signup but read each ad networks terms of service to make sure you’re using them appropriately and aren’t kicked out of the programs. For example you can run AdSense on a wine related blog but not one on beer or liquor, and you can’t use Chitika on any off those. That said, most topics are fine.

So what works best? It varies depending on the site and you will need to experiment to find out what works well on your site. Below are some general guidelines, but first be aware that you need visitors, actual people coming to your site to click on the ads. Without any traffic to your site, these ads do not work. Secondly you need to know that not all topics work equally well. I have a site on cooking and kitchen tools that does fantastically, but my business oriented blog doesn’t do well with PPC ads. Again, you need to try it to see.

Here are some overall tips:

You need the ads to be visible. Right in the first page and visible as soon as someone visits your site. If people need to scroll to see the ads, far fewer will see and then click them. You really need to put them in prime locations.

Blend the ads so they look like part of your site. You don’t want to trick anyone into clicking, but you also don’t want the ads to look like neon flashing signs. Many ad networks, for example Google AdSense, let you vary the colors in your ads.

Don’t have too many choices on your site. You want users to click the ads. If there are hundreds of links and pictures, you will get fewer clicks. In general, simple plain sites make more money.

So, will Google AdSense and other PPC work for you? There are plenty of people paying their mortgage and even making a full time living from these ads, as well as people just making a few extra bucks. Keep in mind that these ad networks refer to you as a “publisher.” You need to have good content online to succeed.

Most people think that all they need to do is just put up a website with good content. Like that will be enough to warrant making plenty of money with AdSense. And it may be, but you can really optimize the amount of money you make by making sure that you are putting your website in position to rank for certain keywords.

The more anchor links you have pointing back to your content, the higher that page will rank for those keyword terms. The quantity of the links as not as important as the quality of the links. Concentrate on getting links from highly respected websites.

Last but not least, you need to make sure that you back linking process is as normal and as natural as possible. Don’t pick up too many links too fast and make sure to vary your anchor text as well.

These are in many ways a quick and easy fix to help your business grow fast and effectively. There are ten things which you will need to look at and understand, and once you do, all ten you will increase your Google AdSense earnings within three days of doing these.

1) Correct Your Title: Look at Your title, does it tell you what is inside the content people will read? Is it general or more of something that would get traffic to read your work? If not fix it.
