After having a couple birthday parties under my belt, I've decided that cupcakes (trendy or not) are the way to go kids birthday parties. They are easy to transport, and avoid the mess and hassle of cutting up a cake during the party. And they are cute! Well, most of the time. Although I haven't been sewing too much lately... I did have time to make this uber cute tutu.  This version is lined and longer than the ballet skirt I made. But it's way, way more 'floofy' and just as well loved.  I used this fantastic tutu tutorial from Girl Inspired. By using the gathering foot on my serger the whole thing came together much faster than a no-sew version would.
