The winner of its global online competition gets two weeks for two at the resort every year until he or she turns 65.

Located on its own island, a 40-minute speedboat ride from Male International Airport, Coco Palm Bodu Hithi was named the leading luxury hotel in the World Luxury Hotel Awards last year.

Each of its 100 villas, on land or over water, has its own pool and the resort has a gym, spa, six dining options and a bar for sunset drinks.

    <summary type="html">For Craig Sams, life is sweet. The entrepreneur, who with co-founder Jo Fairley sold the Green &amp;amp; Black&amp;rsquo;s organic chocolate firm to Cadbury for a reputed &amp;pound;20m, has founded a biochar business, and his firm is about to announce its first deal with the government of the Maldives.
Carbon Gold, Sams&amp;rsquo;s new company, is to develop biochar projects on three islands in the Maldives, taking waste from agriculture and fishing and turning it into charcoal by roasting it in a low-oxygen atmosphere. The process turns waste into raw carbon, which can then be used to fertilise the soil.

    <summary type="html">Guangdong Nanhu International Travel Service of China has announced plans to begin a new charter operation from Guangzhou to the Maldives. The maiden flight on the charter route is set for September 26, 2009.
Chen Zhichao, the deputy general manager of Nanhu Travel, said that the charter flight is scheduled to fly twice a week, on Wednesdays and Saturdays. It will only take six hours from Guangzhou to the Maldives, which is six hours shorter than taking transit flights through Kuala Lumpur, Doha, or Dubai.

    <summary type="html">Civil Aviation Minister Mahmoud Razi has said British Airways (BA) will begin flights to Maldives next week, Miadhu reports.
Speaking at a ceremony to sign MoUs (Memorandums of Understanding) for joint air services between Maldives and the UK, Razi said BA will be designated as the authorised carrier between the two countries.
&amp;ldquo;One objective is to strengthen the aviation relations between two countries and to encourage more flights between UK and Maldives. British Airways would start operations during the last week of October but as you know it is not a good time economically and financially. This may result in the arrival of other airlines as well,&amp;rdquo; he said.
