Germs are everywhere and one spot that I know I at least always forget about is our bathroom soap dispenser.  I Lysol everywhere else, but if you think about it, you touch the soap dispenser with your dirty (germy) hands and then wash them.  I always thought how nice it would be to have one of those automatic soap dispensers like you find at restaurants, at home.

Nowadays it seems everything is made in another country.  Whether it be Taiwan, China, or mexico manufacturing, not much seems to be made here in the USA.  I actually don’t pay much attention to where stuff is made as long as it works and is of good quality but I started thinking when I noticed the recent Menards flyer.  (If you are not sure what Menards is, it is a giant chain home improvement store.)

Menards is having a sale where everything in their flyer was manufactured in the USA.  The flyer also lists exactly what city the company is from too!  It is interesting to see where everything is made and how close to home it is!  I know some people are very dedicated to buying and supporting companies in the USA, so this is a great opportunity for them to shop.  Although people like me who are just happy to get good products at good prices, maybe don’t care so much where the product was manufactured.

Now don’t get me wrong, I definitely want to support my own country, but I am not going to go out of my way to not buy a product because it was manufactured somewhere else.  The way I look at is everybody everywhere needs work and money now, so I figure I am helping someone somewhere!

My son loves tools, so Handy Manny is of course one of his favorite shows.  Geared towards preschoolers, the show helps kids learn important lessons including problem solving and working together, all while slipping in Spanish words and phrases.  It is a cute show that has fun and memorable characters and catchy music.  Aidan definitely understand how all the tools have to work together to finish the job.

Before kids, Saturday nights were movie nights for my husband and I, now we watch family movies.  It is going to be fun though because Aidan is really going to love it!  To get kids excited about the premier, there is also a fun game online to play where you get to decorate your own car!

When my husband and I went on our honeymoon we went para sailing.  I was petrified, but it was definitely a great experience and I don’t regret it.  I am not sure now that I would do it again, now that I am older and starting to live more carefully.  I don’t take risks like I used to because now that I am a mom and wife, I want to make sure I am around to take care of them.

One experience I would like to take advantage of at some point is taking a helicopter tour.  It just seems like a safer way to be up in the air and yet still experience something exciting.  Something about the helicopter blades whirling around and whipping me up in the air, sounds like it would be exciting!  I don’t know much about any other helicopter parts but I guess I wouldn’t need to know about them.

I do worry though every time I fly on an airplane though about repairs, so I would of course be worried about helicopter repairs.  I suppose I would just have to trust that the helicopter was checked and is certified to go.  I would also be more comfortable knowing that md helicopter parts were used and are certified.

I don’t know where I would even catch a helicopter tour, but I recall seeing the tour in Las Vegas.  It would be exciting to catch a helicopter tour over the Grand Canyon or Hover Dam.  I don’t know that I would take my kids up, at least until I have been up first so I know what to expect.  I think though when my boys are older, it would be a nice family experience for the four of us to go up and take a helicopter tour together!  I know my husband would especially love it because he used to go skydiving before we got married.

One thing about our new house that I both love and drives me crazy, are the doors in my house.  Now don’t get me wrong, I have very nice wooden doors throughout our house, but there are just so many!  I mean to the outside of our house there are five doors.  We have two sliding doors in our family room, which I don’t understand why they did, other than since the owners were home builders I figure they had an extra sliding door laying around.  We also have a master bedroom on the main level with a Sliding Door which is actually my boys playroom.

The next door we have is going out to the garage which also has it’s own door to outside.  Oh and I do have a door in the garage which is an extra entrance to get in and out of the basement.  I am though thinking of switching the Door Hinge because I don’t like the way it swings into the garage instead of into the basement.

Finally, we of course have our front door, which I love because it is so nice and ornate.  I am used too a slab of wood with no window and lucky that it locks!  We did put a screen door up though because I noticed our beautiful door is slightly splitting.  Oh and we added new door handle because we were going to change the lock anyways and I wanted a bronze instead of gold.

So I know I am rambling on about doors, and it is pretty boring and strange, but I was just sitting here in my family room looking at our patio doors and thinking.  Then there have been a few home invasions on the news lately where people have been killed, so I started thinking of safety and making sure we are safe inside.  I figure the best way to keep my family safe is starting with the doors in our house.

One of the things that makes me feel so helpless as a mom, is diaper rash.  Luckily neither of my boys get it that much and it usually doesn’t last too long, but seeing there little bottoms all red and irritated, just makes me want to take their pain away.  I have tried a lot of creams and I haven’t had any problems and I can usually use any brand and their diaper rash will heal.  I know though that some kids have sensitive skin, are more prone to diaper rash, or some products just work better than others.

First Years has created a new product that heals AND instantly soothes diaper rash!  Their Bottom Care Diaper Rash Relief System is doctor developed and works safely and naturally.  You just place a cooled (from the fridge) gel pack in a milk protein sleeve and place it on your child’s affected area for a short period of time.  The cooled gel pad cools the burn and instantly draws heat from the rash while the milk proteins in the sleeve start the healing. The sleeve is a soft cotton-like pouch that you just slip the gel pad into.

The Bottom Care system is great for discomfort, swelling, irritation and soreness associate with diaper rash.  I tried this with my little man and I thought he would freak out from the cooled pad, but he didn’t.  I cooled it in my fridge for 3 hours, placed it in the sleeve, and then in his diaper for twenty minutes and he was completely fine with it.  He only had a very slight rash when I tried this (of course because I wanted to review this he wasn’t getting bad diaper rash) and it seemed to heal it just fine.  There is also a Diaper Rash cream in the kit to protect your child’s bottom with a moisture barrier.  I think this is a really neat product because it is unique and 100% natural.

MY REVIEW:

If you have a tutu-wearing little girl in your house then you must check out this DVD.  Now I actually watched it by myself because my boys wanted nothing to do with it, but it is an adorable DVD.  The DVD puts the story of Swan Lake in a way that kids can understand and is told by an animated Prima Princessa as you see parts of the actual ballet going on.  Throughout the DVD there are also scenes of actual little girls dancing around and practicing ballets.  Ballet steps are also displayed for budding little dancers!

Overall, I thought Prima Princessa presents Swan Lake is perfect for any little girls.  It  is a great substitute for everyday cartoons and for the low price, you can’t go wrong.  I also like that it is 40 minutes long so you really do get a lot out of the DVD.

MY REVIEW:

I think this interactive book is adorable.  I love that you can click on 1-3 parts of the screen for additional sound effects, which is Aidan’s favorite part!  The narrator also has a great voice for narrating a children’s book and his speed is just right for kids.  The pictures and graphics throughout the story are very colorful and neat looking, and the story is actually quite long.  There is a police car, fire engine, train, parade scenes, and so much going on in this cute story about what happens at a parade.  It is super easy to navigate this book as you just slide the screen for the next page and just click on the dark black words for sound effects.  You can also turn off the narrator, if you would like.  Overall, I think this App is adorable for both boys and girls of all ages!
