A Shirt for Me - Meine erste Antonella

In diesem Post habe ich mein Vorhaben angekündigt, dass ich aus alten Shirts ein neues nähen möchte. Nun, da ist es. Es hat ein bisschen länger gedauert, da mir Wolle fehlte und ich auf die Lieferung warten musste. Ich bin fast total zufrieden damit. Der Ausschnitt ist schön weit und die Ärmel etwas länger (meine Oberarme sind immer eiskalt *?*). Das fast zufrieden bezieht sich auf den Umstand, dass alte Shirts nicht mehr besonders elastisch sind. Der Ausschnitt ist auch deshalb schön weit geworden, weil sich der Jersey nach dem Dehnen nicht mehr viel zusammenzog. Gibt sich vielleicht wieder nach einer Wäsche. Aber dennoch gefällt es mir sehr gut. Endlich habe ich auch mal Häkelblümchen auf meinem Shirt und nicht immer nur meine Kleine.

In this post I announced my intention to sew a new shirt out of old shirts. Well, there it is. It took a bit longer because I ran out of yarn and I had to wait for a new delivery. I am almost completely satisfied with it. The neckline is nice and wide and the sleeves are a bit longer (my upper arms are always cold *?*). I am almost satisfied due to the fact that old shirts are no longer very flexible. I should have taken a new piece of knit fabric for the neckline. Maybe this will be better after washing it. But still I like it very much. Finally, I have crocheted flowers on my shirt too and not only my little one.

Endlich wieder ein Projekt fertig und es ist auch so geworden wie ich es mir vorgestellt habe. Auch wenn der Weg dahin etwas länger gedauert hat, ich erkläre noch warum, da habe ich nämlich was dabei gelernt ;)

Finally finished a project and it turned out just as I had imagined. Although the way then took a little longer, I'll explain why because I’ve learned something ;)

Wir hatten ein große Sperrholzplatte herumstehen, da habe ich schnell mit Bleistift Formen draufgezeichnet und mein Mann hat das mit einer Stichsäge ausgeschnitten. Also nur um es auch klar zu machen, eine Platte ist rechteckig, eine soll eine Sprechblase darstellen und das dritte ist eine Prinzessin oder ein Mädchen mit langem Kleid (schaut zwar eher wie die Frau von Lord Helmchen aus *hihi*)

We had around a large piece of plywood and I have drawn some forms with a pencil on it, and my husband cut them out with a jigsaw. So just to make it clear, one plate is rectangular, one is a balloon, and the third one is a princess or a girl with a long dress (but it looks more like the wife of DarkHelmet *hehe*)

Da wir die Tafeln für den Außenbereich brauchten, habe ich auch die Rückseite lackiert (mit allen möglichen Lackresten, die ich fand). Vorne drauf kommt Tafelfarbe und zwar das ist jetzt WICHTIG mit einer Rolle auftragen. Ich habe zuerst drei Schichten mit Pinsel aufgetragen, aber durch den Pinselstrich wurde das nicht glatt. Also etwas abschleifen und nochmal drei Schichten mit Rolle auftragen, damit die Oberfläche auch wirklich schön glatt wird. Normalerweise reichen 2-3 Anstriche mit einer Rolle.

Since we needed the boards for outdoor use, I also painted the back (with all sorts of paint residue that I found). Paint the front panel with chalkboard color and that is IMPORTANT apply the color with a roller. I first applied three coats with a brush but the stroke was not smooth. So a little sanding and apply another three layers with a roller, now the surface is really nice and smooth too. Normally 2-3 coats with a roller are enough.

Die Tafeln schraubten wir im Garten an die Wand eines Gartenhauses und das Mädchen legte gleich los, die Tafeln zu verschönern.

Ach ja, sie steht auf der zugedeckten Sandkiste, falls ihr euch fragt, was das ist. Wir haben eine versenkte Sandkiste gemacht. Eine Grube ausheben (fast 1m tief) und enorm viel Bausand vom Baumarkt reinfüllen. Alle 2 Jahre kommt wieder eine Ladung Sand dazu, dann ist für kurze Zeit ein Hügel drauf. Verflüchtigt sich der Sand bei euch auch so schnell? Das Häuschen daneben ist das Clubhaus der Kleinen.

Oh yes, she stands on the covered sandbox, if you're wondering what that is. We have made a sunk sand box. Dig a pit (nearly 1y deep) and fill it with an enormous amount of building sand from the DIY superstore. Every two years or so, there comes a new load of sand, then for a short time there is a hill on it. Did your playsand disappear that quickly too? The colorful hut you see on the picture is the clubhouse of our girlie.

Und nun zum Sonnenschutz: Habe nur ich das Gefühl, dass die Sonne immer aggressiver strahlt? Ich war letztens nur kurz im Garten, um mal hier und dort zu zupfen, aber ich hatte totale T-Shirt Ränder. Sicher man wird älter und die Haut steckt nicht mehr soviel weg wie jüngere, aber dass man so schnell einen Sonnenbrand aufzieht. Ich habe immer nur Sonnencreme verwendet, wenn ich im Urlaub am Meer war oder am See beim Schwimmen und Sonnenbaden. Aber es scheint so, dass man sich schon morgens prophylaktisch eincremen muss, wenn man vorhat, den Tag an der frischen Luft zu verbringen. Also denkt daran, jeder Sonnenbrand macht früher Falten ;)

And now about sunprotection: I just feel that the sun shines more and more aggressive? I recently was only briefly in the garden, just to pull weeds and pluck here and there, but afterwards you could see the edges of my T-shirt on the skin. Sure you get older and your skin no longer withstand as much as younger skin but it’s amazing how quickly one gets a sunburn. I've always used sunscreen when I was on holiday at the sea or the lake for swimming and sunbathing. But it seems that you need to apply sunscreen preventive in the morning if you plan to spend the day outside. So remember, every sunburn turns up wrinkles sooner ;)

Was frau nicht alles einfällt, um nicht an die Nähmaschine zu müssen. Aber bei dem schönen Wetter halte ich es drinnen nicht aus. Für mich gibt's fast nichts schöneres als im Liegestuhl unter der Pergola zu schmökern.

The nice weather keeps me away from my sewing machine but I love to enjoy my garden. For me there's almost nothing better than lounging under the pergola to read a book.

Also das erstbeste Buch aus dem Regal geschnappt und zu lesen begonnen. Ich habe zwar bemerkt, dass es nicht das war, das ich wollte (gleich dick und groß), aber die Geschichte hat mich gleich gefangen genommen. Falls ihr es kennt, verratet mir nichts, ich bin erst in der Mitte.

So grabbing the first book from the shelf begun to read. Although I have noticed that it is not the one that I wanted to read (the same thickness and size) but the story has captured me immediately. If you know it, don’t tell me anything, I'm only in the middle.

The Forgotten Garden

Das Buch ist von der Gemeinde. Im Eingangsbereich des Rathauses stehen zwei vollgestopfte Bücherregale, wo jeder Bücher hinbringen und auch mitnehmen kann. Ohne Register und Listen oder Bücherkarte. Ich glaube sogar, sie (die Gemeinde) wären froh, wenn mehr Bücher mitgenommen würden als gebracht ;) Aber ich bringe dieses natürlich wieder zurück und noch ein paar mehr, die ich loswerden will (hihi). Hat jeder was davon.

The book is from the community. In the foyer of our City Hall are two overstuffed bookshelves, where everybody can bring books and take books away. Without registration and lists or library cards. I even think they (the community) would be happy if more books were taken than brought ;) But of course I will bring this one back again and a few more I want to get rid of (hehe). Profit for everyone.

My loved ones have surprised me with flowers from the garden and a delicious breakfast with champagne and smoked salmon. The weather was glorious so we could sit on the terrace in the sun.

Pressure and Aim - Druck und Ziel

Irgendwie komme ich nach unserem Kurzurlaub nicht in die Gänge. Ich arbeite zwar wie wild im Garten, aber Haushalt und Kreativität reizen mich momentan gar nicht. Da ich unter Druck immer am besten arbeite, poste ich hier mal was ich mir als Ziel vorgenommen habe und ihr fragt immer wieder nach, ob ich schon fertig bin. Dann funktioniert das vielleicht ;)
Also, schon ewig liegt der Antonella Schnitt herum (wie so viele andere) und ich konnte mich gestern doch dazu durchringen, ihn abzuzeichnen (diesen Teil des Nähens ~~hasse~~ mag ich gar nicht). Anlässlich des heißen Wetters habe ich mal meine Kurzarm-Shirts durchgesehen und den Großteil als "so" nicht tragbar eingestuft. Weil zu kurz, zu eng, zu fleckig oder und das hasse ich (jetzt wirklich), um den Hals zu eng. Daher habe ich mir vorgenommen aus diesen alten Shirt ein paar neue zu nähen.
So jetzt habe ich das gepostet, vielleicht ist das ja genug Motivation für mich. Natürlich hört ihr nie wieder was von der Sache, wenn's nicht hinhaut ;)

Somehow after our short holiday I have problems to get things moving. Though I work like crazy in the garden, household and creativity are currently not appealing to me. Since I always work best under pressure, I'll post here to set myself a target and you always ask again if I'm ready. Then maybe it works ;)

Well, for ages I got the Antonella pattern (as so many others) and I could yesterday bring myself to cut it out (I ~~hate~~ do not like this part of the sewing). On the occasion of the hot weather, I'm looking through my short-sleeved shirts and classified most of them as "so" not wearable. Because of too short, too tight, too long, and I hate that (really now) too tight around the neck. Therefore I have decided to sew some new ones from this old shirts.

So now I've posted it, maybe that's motivation enough for me to begin with. Of course you never hear again about the matter, if it won’t work out ;)

Venedig liegt nur 6 Stunden von meinem Wohnort entfernt und trotzdem habe ich es erst jetzt geschafft, diese faszinierende Stadt zu besuchen. Das Wetter war herrlich und die Familie gut gelaunt. Also konnten diese 4 Tage nur traumhaft werden.

Venice is only 6 hours away from where I live, yet I have only now managed to visit this fascinating city. The weather was glorious and the family in a good mood. So these 4 days could only get a dream.

Wir besichtigten den wunderschönen Dogenpalast. Manche Räume so groß wie ein Tennisplatz und Marmor überall. Die Decken- und Wandgemälde ein Traum. Bei dem Rundgang kommt man auch über die Seufzerbrücke in den Kerker. Sehr interessant!

Palazzo Ducale

We visited the magnificent Ducal Palace. Some rooms are the size of a tennis court and marble everywhere. The ceiling and wall painting are a dream. On the tour you will also go over the Bridge of Sighs into the prison. Very interesting!

Aber sobald man nur eine oder zwei Gassen in die Stadt eintaucht, findet man sich ganz alleine zwischen hohen alten wunderschönen Häuserwänden und beginnt sich vorzustellen, wie das Leben hier früher war. Als Liebhaberin von Mittelalterromanen war diese Stadt mehr als inspirierend für mich.

But once you dip in the city, you find yourself all alone between high walls and beautiful old houses begin to imagine what life was like here before. As a lover of medieval novels, this city was more than inspiring to me.

In unserem Reiseführer steht: 400 Brücken, 118 Stadtinseln, 174 Kanäle - meine Füße sagen mir, da waren wir überall. Überrascht war ich wie sauber die Stadt und das Wasser sind und wie herrlich ruhig es ist. Erst einen Tag später wurde mir bewusst, dass es keine Autos und Motorräder, ja nicht mal Fahrräder gibt. Es war ein toller Kurzurlaub!

Our travel guide says: 400 bridges, 118 city islands, 174 channels – my feet tell me we were everywhere. I was surprised how clean the city and the water are and how wonderfully quiet it is. A day later I realized that there were no cars and motorcycles, not even bicycles. It was a great short holiday!

Ich habe eine neue Jeans und der doofe Reißverschluss hält nicht. Da habe ich diesen Tip, den ich bei Pinterest gefunden habe, mal ausprobiert und kann ihn nun vorbehaltlos empfehlen. Funktioniert fabelhaft!

I have a new pair of jeans and the stupid zipper won’t stay zipped. I found this tip at Pinterest, once tried I can recommend it without reserve now. Works fabulously!

Wir haben einen Kurztrip gemacht und bevor ich darüber berichte, lasse ich euch mal raten, welche Stadt in Europa ich besucht habe.

We made a short trip but before I report about it, I leave you time to guess which city I've visited in Europe.

Na schon eine Idee? Hier noch ein Hinweis: Hat schon jemand in dieser Stadt das Haus mit der Nummer 1 gefunden? Wenn nicht, ich habe die Adresse fotografiert.

Rose or Cabbage? - Rose oder Kohlkopf?

Also, ich hab mal wieder was gehäkelt, aus diesem Buch. Meine Kleine sagte als erstes, das ist eine Rose. Nun ja, ist ja gut, dass die Farbe keine Rolle spielt.

So, once again I crochet something from this book. The first thing my girlie said that is a rose. Well, all right, color doesn’t matter.

Aber eigentlich sollte es Kopfsalat sein. Hellgrün hatte ich nicht, also Dunkelgrün. Diese Häkeleien für die Puppenküche und Kaufladen sollen der Resteverwertung dienen. Sagen wir eben es ist Kohl oder Wirsing.

But actually it supposed to be lettuce. I had no light green. These crochet projects for the play kitchen and shop should minimize my yarn leftovers. We just say it's cabbage.

Schauen bei euch die Puppen auch so aus? Schminkversuch mit Stiften! Gibt es eine Möglichkeit, die Farbe zu entfernen ohne dass die original Gesichtsmalerei verschwindet?

Are your dolls looking the same? Make-up test with pencils and crayons! Is there a way to remove the color without destroying the original face painting?

Earth Day - Tag der Erde

Der Earth Day findet alljährlich am 22. April weltweit in über 150 Ländern statt. Das Earth Day-Motto, "Global denken, lokal handeln", soll deutlich machen, dass es hier nicht nur um das heutige Wohlbefinden der Menschen geht. Gesunde Erde heißt gesunde Umwelt und lebenswerter Ort für die Zukunft.

Earth Day is held annually on April 22nd and take place in over 150 countries. The Earth Day slogan, "Think globally, act locally" should make it clear that this is not just about today's well-being of people. Healthy Earth means healthy environment and livable place for the future.

Zum heutigen Earth Day möchte ich ein paar Filmempfehlungen abgeben. Zum einen ist da die Doku „We Feed the World“ und zum anderen „Plastic Planet“. Es gibt natürlich noch viele andere sehenswerte Reportagen, aber gerade diese beiden Filme dokumentieren den weltweiten Zusammenhang der Themen. Besonders „Plastic Planet“ hat mich fast völlig fertig im Sessel sitzen lassen. Bitte Vorsicht, wenn Kinder und junge Teens mit schauen. Die Wahrheit kann grausam sein!

For today's Earth Day I would like to make a few movie recommendations. First there is the documentary "We Feed the World" and the other is "Plastic Planet". There are of course many other interesting films but just those two films document the global context of the issues. Especially "Plastic Planet" left me almost horrified in my chair after watching it. Please be careful when children and young teens watch the docu. The truth can be cruel!

Und eine weitere Reportage, die aufzeigt wie gute Taten in den Dreck gezogen werden, ist „Die Altkleider-Lüge“. Wenn man weiß, was man mit einer Altkleiderspende anrichtet, sollte man die Sachen besser schreddern und in den Restmüll kippen.

Wie immer bei solchen Dokus, werden zwar die Fehler erkannt, analysiert, dokumentiert, besprochen, verfilmt usw., aber die Lösung lässt sich schwer finden oder wäre einfach, wird aber von Regierung und Industrie abgelehnt und boykottiert.

As always with such documentaries the errors are detected, analyzed, documented, discussed, filmed, etc. but the solution is hard to find or would be easy but rejected and boycotted by government and industry.

Daher habe ich nach Alternativen für die Kleiderspenden gesucht. Diese Firma macht aus den eigenen Altkleidern Fleckerl/Flickenteppiche. Das finde ich total interessant, wenn ich im Teppich meine alten Sachen wiedererkenne. Außerdem werde ich versuchen, alte Shirts umzunähen. Die kaputten und nicht schönen Stellen wegschneiden und aus einigen Shirts ein neues zusammenstellen.

Zerschnippelte Kleidung kann man als Füllmaterial verwenden für Dekoobjekte oder Kuscheltiere.

Auch Hund und Katze kuscheln sich gerne in Herrchens und Frauchens Kleidung (nicht vorher waschen, die Tierchen lieben den Geruch).

So I've been looking for alternatives for old clothes and clothes donations. Aside from selling them on ebay or a second hand shop you can looking for a trustworthy local charity organization where you can bring your clothes donation personally and ask and see what happens with them.

I found in my country a company where I can send my clothes donation and they weave my personally rag rug out of my old clothes.

I will try to convert old shirts by sewing them into new ones.
Sliced clothes can be used as stuffing material for decoration objects or plush toys.
Also dog and cat snuggle up to mister and mistress old clothes.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

Reduzieren, Wiederverwenden, Wiederverwerten

Denkansatz: Wiederverwenden und -verwerten machen Spaß, aber wenn’s ums Reduzieren geht …

Ich nehme mich da gar nicht aus. Mir fällt es z.B. total schwer Energie zu sparen. Wo fange ich da an? Ehrlich? Wir sollen Energie sparen, aber welches Gerät nehme ich vom Netz? Ich habe keinen Wäschetrockner, weil ich keinen will und genug Platz für Wäscheleinen habe. Aber zählt das als Reduzieren, wenn ich es ohnehin nicht will? *grübel*

I am not excluding myself. I find it e.g. really difficult to save energy. Where do I start? Really? We should save energy, but which device should I shut down? I do not have a dryer because I don’t want and need one. But does it count as reduction if I don’t want it anyway? *ruminating*

Playmat and Fabric Flowers - Spielmatte und Stoffblumen

So, heute komme ich zur Auflösung der gestrigen Frage. Aus den Zutaten habe ich Stoffblumen gemacht. Eine Anleitung dafür gibt es HIER. Ich wollte die Blumen etwas fluffiger haben und habe bei manchen die Kreise zu einem Viertel gelegt und aus vier Teilen wieder einen ganzen Kreis gemacht. Dann bekommt das Blümchen mehr Volumen. Wenn man wie ich nicht so viele Knöpfe hat, kann man auch Perlen zum Verzieren nehmen.

So, this is the answer of yesterday's question. From the ingredients I made fabric flowers. There is a manual for them HERE. I wanted the flowers to be higher so I folded some circles down to a quarter and four parts of them made a complete circle. Then the flower gets more volume. If you like I do not have so many buttons, you can also take beads for decoration.

Und eine zweite Sache wollte ich schon lange mal ausprobieren und zwar eine Spielmatte. Nicht unbedingt, um darauf zu spielen, sondern um Kinderspielzeug zu verstauen. Ich habe schon sehr viele Kisten im Spielzimmer herumstehen, die auch wirklich praktisch sind, nur wird das Zimmer dadurch immer kleiner. Im konkreten Fall brauchte ich eine Aufbewahrung für die Austattung der Kinderspielküche (Geschirr, Töpfe und auch Spielobst und -lebensmittel). Ist schnell her- und weggeräumt und wird dann auf einen Haken gehängt. Den Haken brauch ich noch ;)

And a second thing I wanted to try out for a long time and that is a playmat. Not necessarily to play on it but to store children's toys. There are standing around a lot of storage boxes which are really useful but the room is getting smaller with every new box. In my specific case, I needed a storage for the equipment of the children’s kitchen (dishes, pots, toy fruit). The bag is quickly cleared away and then hung on a hook. I need a hook yet ;)

Ich mag ja keine Teaser, das ist eigentlich auch keiner, da ich noch nichts gemacht habe. Aber als ich mir alle Zutaten schön hergerichtet hatte, dachte ich ans Foto. Momentan habe ich mal wieder 17 Dinge gleichzeitig am Start, aber noch ist nix fertig.

Zutaten: klitzekleine Stoffreste, Zackenschere, Gläser in verschiedenen Größen zum Kreise auf Stoff zeichnen, Knöpfe

Nun? Eine Idee? Morgen gibt's hoffentlich schon mehr dazu.

Ich bewundere immer wieder diejenigen, die so tolle Tutorials machen und jeden Schritt mitfotografieren. Wenn ich eine Idee habe und die Zeit dazu, dann mache ich mich gleich dran und versuche das so schnell wie möglich durchzuziehen.

Well? An idea? Hopefully we can see tomorrow more.
I admire again and again, those who make such great tutorials and take pictures of every step. If I have an idea and got the time, then I have to do and try it as soon as possible and go through with it.

Nivea Soft - Nivea Q10

Juhu, heute ist wieder ein Paket von Nivea gekommen. Diesmal mit einer Limited Edition von Nivea Soft Creme. Die Dosen sind einfach süß!

Hooray, today another package from Nivea arrived. This time with a limited edition of Nivea Soft Cream. The boxes are very cute!

Aber ganz toll fand ich das Beiblatt über Feuchtigkeitsmasken, die man sich mit Nivea Soft Creme selbst anrühren kann. Ich mag Gesichtsmasken sehr gerne, weil sich die Haut nachher super anfühlt und noch mehr, weil man in diesen 10-15 Minuten absolut herrlich entspannen kann. Man kann ja nicht an die Tür gehen und meine Kleine rennt meist davon und ruft laut: "Ein Monster! Ein Monster!". Also hab ich meine Ruhe ;)

Fitness mask - for skin with moisture deficiency

2 teaspoons Nivea Soft (cooled)

¼ green cucumber – seedless puree

3 tablespoons fresh mint leaves

1 teaspoon lemon juice

1 egg white – beaten stiff

Relaxation mask – for combination skin

1 teaspoon fresh yeast mixed with mint leaves (dissolved in hot water before)

1 teaspoon grated almonds

2 teaspoons Nivea Soft

But I like the information sheet about how to make your own moisture face mask with Nivea Soft Creme. I like face masks, because your skin feels great afterwards, and even more because you can relax in these 10-15 minutes absolutely wonderful. You can not answer the door and my girlie runs away and cries loudly: "A monster! A monster!“ Thus I have my peace ;)

Dann muss ich noch was von meinem Mann ausrichten und zwar, dass er diese Nivea For Men Produkte total gerne mag und immer nach der Rasur verwendet.

Then my husband wants to tell something about Nivea For Men products. He is totally happy with them and uses them always after shaving.

Und ich bin noch ein Paket schuldig und zwar über Nivea Q10. Ich hab's noch nicht getestet, aber wenn 'hautstraffend' draufsteht, wird's interessant ;) Mal schauen.

And I owe you a post about Nivea Q10. I've not tested the products yet but if it is promising 'skin firming', it is interesting to me ;) We will see.

Northern Hare and Black Sheep - Schneehase und Schwarzes Schaf

Heute nochmal Eiersuchen und Osterjause, dann ist es geschafft. Gestern war mein Mädchen kurz verzweifelt, weil es plötzlich ziemlich schneite und sie Angst hatte, dass sie die Ostereier und Süßigkeiten unter der Schneedecke nicht mehr finden könnte. Aber nach ein paar Minuten war das Schneetreiben vorbei und es blieb kein Schnee liegen.

Den Teig für die beiden süßen hab ich geteilt und in eine Hälfte Kakao gerührt, daher schaut das Lämmchen etwas dunkler aus. Und morgen muss ich unbedingt einen Fasttag einlegen, das Wochenende war kulinarisch wieder etwas heftig-deftig ;)

Now again Easter egg hunt and snacks, then it's done. Yesterday, my girl was just desperate because it was snowing quite suddenly and she was afraid that she couldn’t find Easter eggs and candies in the snow no longer. But after a few minutes the snow was gone.

I put cocoa in the dough for the sheep therefore it looks a little darker. And tomorrow I have to make a fast day, I was eating way too much at this Easter weekend but that’s what feasts are for ;)

Das Kissen ist fertig! Morgen wird es von meinem Patenmäderl im Garten gefunden werden.

The pillow is finished! Tomorrow it will be found by my godchild in the garden.

Sie hat zu Hause ein kleines Postamt und liebt es Post auszutragen, Briefe und Karten zu schreiben und natürlich auch Post zu bekommen. Die Klappe des Briefkastens kann man aufmachen und Post reinstecken. Ich glaube da ist auch schon ein Brieflein vom Osterhasen drin.

Die Rückseite ist ganz glatt, damit man darauf auch ein Nickerchen machen kann. Geschlossen wird der Kissenbezug mit Kam Snaps.

She has a small post office at home and loves it to play mailwoman, to write letters and cards and of course to get mail. You can open the flap of the letterbox and put in mail. I think she already got mail from the Easter Bunny.

The back of the pillow is completely plain, so the girl can also use it for a nap. The pillowcase will be closed with snaps.

Die Blumen habe ich selbst gehäkelt, aber die süße Eule habe ich von HIER. Die Idee zu diesem Baum habe ich da gesehen.

The flowers are crocheted my me but the owl I got from HERE. The idea to this kind of tree is from there.

Ich liebe es diese Häuschen zu nähen oder zu applizieren wie hier und da.

I love to sew and applique these little houses like here and there.

Die komischen Schlangenlinien sollen den Weg zum Briefkasten darstellen, das ist leider nicht so geworden wie ich mir das vorgestellt habe. Na dann, beim nächsten Mal mache ich es besser. Ich habe ja auch schon eine Bestellung von meiner Kleinen bekommen.

Wie ihr vielleicht schon wisst, sträube ich mich meist gegen Neuerungen, obwohl sie dann eh gut sind. So habe ich mich auch jahrelang gegen Skype gesträubt. Dabei ist es so lustig. Mein Mann hat es dann kurzerhand auf meinem PC installiert oder in die Gänge gebracht, weil er es firmenintern (so was ähnliches wie Skype) auch nutzt. Zuerst haben wir zu Hause geskypt (sagt man das so?), ich am PC und er am Laptop. Hihi! Und dann habe ich gleich mal meinen Bruder (lebt 200 km entfernt) samt Schwägerin (die mich seit Jahren bekniet, das einzurichten) angerufen. Jetzt müssen wir noch die Omi (auch 200 km weit weg) vor die Kamera bekommen.

Wenn mein Mann auf Dienstreise ist, ist es auch schön, ihn am Abend, wenn er im Hotelzimmer ist, zu sehen und mit ihm zu plaudern. Die Kleine sagt ihm ‚Gute Nacht’ und zeigt ihm noch Bilder oder Bastelarbeiten. Ach ja, und das ganze ist natürlich gratis!

As you may already know, I buck against innovation, although they are good then anyway. I was against Skype for years but it's so funny. My husband has installed it on my PC then without further ado because he uses it internally in his company (something similar like Skype) as well. First, we have skyping at home, I am at the PC and he on his laptop. Hehe! And then I called my brother (who lives 125 miles away), together with his wife (who begged me for years to install this). Now we have to get granny (lives also 125 miles away) in front of the camera.

If my husband is away on a business trip, it's also nice to see him in the evening when he is in the hotel room and chat with him. The little girl says ‚good night’ and shows him some pictures or crafts. Oh, and the whole thing is for free!

Die Gartenarbeit nimmt mich momentan sehr in Anspruch. Himmel, was habe ich für einen Muskelkater. Meine Hände sind total zerkratzt und zerstochen. Was ziehe ich auch nie Handschuhe an. Und dann sind ja auch noch Ferien und traumhaftes Wetter, da bin ich lieber mit der Kleinen im Garten.
Trotzdem muss ich mich sputen, damit ich dieses Kissen noch bis Ostersonntag fertig bekomme. Inspiriert haben mit diesmal die Arbeiten von HIER.

The garden takes my complete attention at the moment. OMG, I have sore muscles. My hands are totally scratched and pricked all over. I really need to wear garden gloves. And then there are holidays and fantastic weather, I'd rather be in the garden with my girlie.

Nevertheless, I have to hurry, so I have finished this pillow till Easter Sunday. Inspired by the works of HERE.

NO TV Addendum

Ich habe ja schon lange von TV die Nase voll und wollte schon mal HIER Schritte in Richtung Abstinenz setzen. Die Probephase war ja ein totaler Erfolg. Wir haben uns darauf geeinigt, dass die erste Woche im Monat fernsehfrei ist. Meine Kleine glaubt immer, dass der Fernseher frei hat ;) Und ich sag’s euch, das ist die schönste Woche im Monat. Der Zwerg ist 6 Jahre und spielt stundenlang (!) alleine im Spielzimmer, räumt alle Spiele um und hin und her und verliert sich von einem Spiel ins andere. Oder sie spielt so richtig schön mit dem Hund. Nie kommt wie sonst nach kurzer Zeit die Frage: „Darf ich was schauen?“. Der Zeitdruck fällt total weg, weil man nicht zu einer bestimmten Zeit fertig sein muss, weil eine Sendung beginnt. Herrlich!

Das gleiche gilt natürlich auch für uns Erwachsene. Zwei Abende gehen drauf für Buchhaltung und Ablage und sonstiges. Aber dann wird meistens bis Mitternacht gezockt. Canasta oder auch Carcassonne oder Siedler von Catan (wir haben jede! Erweiterung).

Ich sage ja nicht, dass Mann und Kind nicht gemault hätten (oder jedes Mal maulen, wenn ich sage, ab morgen wieder fernsehfrei), aber letztendlich akzeptierten sie es schon.

For a long time I've enough of watching TV and I have already set steps HERE toward TV abstinence. The trial period was a total success. We have agreed that the first week of the month is TV free. My little one always thinks that the TV is on vacation ;) And I'm telling you, that's the best week of the month. The dwarf is 6 years old and plays for hours (!) alone in the playroom, goes through her toys back and forth and lost herself in playing. Or she plays really nice with the dog. Never comes the question as usual after a short time: "May I watch anything?". The time pressure is completely eliminated because nothing at any given time must be done cause a TV show starts. Great!
The same is true for us adults. Two evenings are spent for bookkeeping and filing and other items. But then we are mostly gambling until midnight. Canasta or Carcassonne or Settlers of Catan (we have every! extension game).
I'm not saying that husband and child would not have grumbled (or grumble every time I say that from tomorrow on is TV free) but finally they accepted it.

Meine Kleine liebt es zu Fotografieren. Meistens ist sie schneller unterwegs als die Kamera es schafft scharf zu stellen, aber manchmal klappt es. Von den Hunderten Fotos, die sie in 20 Minuten macht, habe ich ein paar ausgesucht. Ohne Worte ...

My little one loves to take pictures. Usually she is faster than the camera manages to focus on but sometimes it works out. Of the hundreds of photos she took in about 20 minutes, I've chosen a few. Without words ...
