After being inspired by Dustin Diaz’s Project 365 I started my own ‘photo a day’ project, and to begin with it was going well. But I’ve come to realise that it takes a lot of time, which I don’t really have at the moment. Also as I’ve been working from home more than usual lately, its getting boring taking photos of things around the house.

So, I’ve decided to change the target to 200 photos over the year. I’ll still call it Project 365 but I’m aiming to take three or four photos a week rather than one a day.

BBC iPlayer shifts 7 petabytes a month

As you can see below (click for full image) the BBC iPlayer shifted 7 petabytes in October in 70 million requests. That’s a lot of data !

eBay, Facebook, Google and Yahoo have all signed a letter to Peter Mandelson urging him to drop Clause 17 from the Digital Economy Bill

This power could be used, for example, to introduce additional technical measures or increase monitoring of user data even where no illegal practice has taken place. This would discourage innovation, impose unnecessary costs, potentially unsettling the careful balance of responsibilities for enabling market change which Lord Carter outlined in the Digital Britain report.
